The Basics
lilGunBois is a challenging little side view 2d platform action shooting experience with a pixelated retro look! Do your best to skillfully dodge bullets and make your way through all 15 levels while racking up points along your way! Once you beat the game you'll get to start over again in an even more challenging new game plus mode that cuts your health in half and doubles the amount of points you get for each enemy that gets taken down.Controls
You can play with a gamepad (using the dpad to move, the a button to jump, and the x button to shoot) or a keyboard and keyboard (using a and d or left and right to move, space or z to jump, and x or the left mouse button to shoot).Saving

The most fun you'll have with an extreme action platformer this year!
I really loved this game. its fun and simple for the price and i also love the name. The prestige feature that lowers your health every time you complete 1 entire run through is interesting and fun. i also like the steam achievements and the bonus games added recently. 10/10 in my opinion. pls continue to make awesome stuff like this BoringKate. :3

lilGunBois is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This game manages to add "Minimalist" to "Pixel" on the list of lazy shovelware attributes, and has you controlling a pixel blob and shooting other pixel blobs while jumping over platforms to get to the exit. So this is basically like every other platformer shooter (and there are many thousands of these), but with worse graphics. The game feels a lot more like a demo or a student project than a professionally developed game.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the video game construction kit/toolset, the open sourced Love 2D game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset sometimes used by amateur/unskilled developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. On the upside at least the developer included a text file with the game to satisfy licensing requirements, but it's unclear why this was hidden in the game folder where nobody will see it (apart from reviewers who do their research). It's always unusual when developers try to hide details like this from gamers.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
lilGunBois is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

lilGunBois is fun in that kind of classic arcade kind of way. It frustrates you into wanting to do better, because you can look at almost any death and say "I screwed up." Since there's only one kind of enemy and they all behave the same, it's simple to nail down how to approach any given level, but like any arcade style game it's the execution that make or breaks you. Also the sound effects are very good and adorable. The only negative criticism I have is that jumping behaves oddly compared most other games. Holding down the jump button will cause you to jump again as soon as you hit the ground which is not great (or maybe I'm just bad at video games and that makes it easier to dodge bullets? I don't know). Also someone should definitely speedrun this game, it's pretty well built for it (Kate you should add an in game clock just syaing).
Anyway, game's good, and I hope Kate makes more games cause she's cool and my friend

it's good. i'm shooting all these lil bois
but seriously this is surprisingly good for such a tiny game. i'm only on level 3 but i like that there are gradually new mechanics being introduced in (so far spikes and jump pads)
def worth the purchase, i am entertained. also there are parts where I'm like "oh god oh god im so close"
the dev is really hot, thumbs up (lol)
