I give this a thumbs up because I enjoyed many of the puzzles. It's not a very good value though. I got about 30% of the way through the game before I even got to puzzles that needed any logic. It was either zero clues (which allowed me to reveal everything they affect) or numbers that match the number of triangles the clue affected (so they were all marked as "bombs). After that the puzzles became more challenging and enjoyable.
I ran into one bug. I switched the left and right mouse button in the settings but it didn't save this when exiting the game. This caused me to make a "mistake" when returning to the game unless I remembered to redo that setting.
Except for occasional guess-work, Minefinder is a must for any puzzle game enthusiast.
Excellent game, scratches the old HexCells vibe perfectly, and the extra difficulty options are great (recommended for those who are used to this kind of puzzle).
This is a excellent game that tickles the brain and give you flashbacks to those late night minesweeper matches. Version 2.0 brings alot more to the game with a different way to finishing a puzzle.
A nice little minimalist deduction game. Gives off a lot of Hexcells-ish vibes. Runs great on Linux.
Enjoyed the game - mentally challenging at the higher levels - good graphics and intuitive logic.
Not really a logic driven puzzle game and more like a pixel hunter puzzle game. To be a logic driven puzzle game I feel like I would have to conduct more if/then strings of thoughts to find out if a particular traingle was on or off. There are 6 "worlds" and as of the beginning of world 6 I have conducted one such if/then thought and it wasn't a long one at that. I think by the second "then" I knew the answer. SO what do I mean by pixel hunter? So far the thing I do most to solve a puzzle is just find a clue that I overlooked. As the board gets bigger it is easy to overlook clues as you continually click strings of "0" triangles. Finding something you overlooked is not a logic-based skill. Also the game has a challenge mode where you play the same levels in normal mode but with certain restrictions. If you got 3 green triangles for all the levels the first time around, challenge mode doesn't really force you to play the game differently. So more than a challenge of logic, its just a challenge to convince yourself to play the game the exact same way again. Whether on purpose I know not but this game is heavily inspired by hexcells - a series of puzzle games that truly are logic-driven. The reason I recommend this game despite it not being logical is because we need more of these games and I hope the devs read this review and amp up the difficulty in their next game - which they say is coming in this game's description.
I was pleasantly impressed by this game. First of all, the graphics and interface are clean and user friendly and the designs are pleasant to look at without being distracting. The gameplay involves using clues in grey triangles to determine whether unknown triangles are grey or green, and maps are gradually filled out to completion. The early puzzles are simple and intuitive, with difficulty rising over time. Later levels are much more challenging; I completed most of them in more than one sitting, since taking a break seemed to help when I got stuck. Fortunately, the game automatically saves progress, although players can choose to reset a level if they wish. Puzzle progress is not automatically reset on mistakes, unless the player specifically chooses that option in challenge mode, so mistakes are not overly punished. For this reason I would recommend this game for casual players and non-gamers as well. Basically, it's up to the player to decide how challenging they want their experience to be.
I'm a bit of a completionist in my gaming style, and I find this game caters well to my playstyle and also has some replay value. To earn maximum gems in regular mode each puzzle needs to be completed without mistakes or miss-clicks, and in challenge mode gems are earned by completing puzzles with additional restrictions. Thus, I have been motivated to go back to earlier levels to complete them perfectly and with challange mode restrictions in place. What's interesting is that I completed the puzzles faster and more efficiently the second and third time around, suggesting that my brain has been training for the specific patterns this game presents.
Overall, I've enjoyed playing this game and I hope the developers continue to update it and add additional challenges.
Really enjoyed working out the logic to solve these puzzles.
