Ok, so far this might have been the best RPG maker game I've played, but its still really crummy, directionless, grindy, and tedious. Maybe some day ill see a good rpg maker game, but for now, if it was made with rpg maker, dont touch it.
Game sucks. Dialogs are close to none, game short and mechanics are odd. Not even worthy downloading. One of worst pixel games i've ever played. Story is nonexistent (which is one of most important parts in such games). Quest example: "Bring fishing pole and i'll teach You hunting". You are bringing fishing pole he shows You "here is water" 2 tiles away of him... The end.... This is the level of story and dialogs You can expect here. So judge Youself.
Trash game, it's this sort of badly planned lazy rpg game that gives bad reputation to rpg maker games.
meh
I got this game hoping for a nice little sandbox game - fighting, fishing, farming etc - but was quickly disappointed.
You're dropped into a town with no explanation or storyline. Every NPC either has one line of badly spelled dialogue or you simply can't interact with them. Every quest boils down to "Bring me beer and I will give you 100 gold. Yes/No."
Farming is boring and just a series of a dialogue boxes. You just stand next to a plot and spam Z to go through like 8 dialogue boxes every time. The guy who sells seeds is also a fair distance away from the farm so you have to pilgrimage back and forth and try to remember what every generic NPC wanted you to make them.
There's a fisherman who hints that he will teach you if you come to him with a fishing rod. Once you do, he walks towards the river next to him and says "It looks like you can fish there." Literally, that's the tutorial you get. Hooking a fish is straight forward but the line breaks seemingly randomly even when I tried different levels of pulling on it and I didn't manage to get a single fish.
Fighting is generic RPGmaker stuff, and impossibly difficult at the start of the game. You initiate combat by walking into enemies but there's no way of telling what is an enemy or ally, or how strong they will be. I quit the game after jumping into a boat for the first time, going south to a new island with NPCs on, and it turns out they were actually enemies and killed me. There's no Flee option in a fight so you're just dead, game over. This also happened with bears literally two screens to the right of the starting screen, because despite only seeing one bear there were two in combat and I couldn't handle that.
The art style is nice and seems mostly custom-made. However there's tonnes of 'stuff' on the ground and there's no indication of which you can pick up, so you end up just running over everything to try. There's no flavour text or interaction with objects, even sign posts.
Reason why it get that bad review dev please put save or diary in menu so you save like somewhere in game so you don't die often. Too much permeant death everywhere in the game makes it imposible to give balance thrown about in game. Elves are super power?? Cave is has duo element which frankly tells me where do I find this duo element do you get pet that you join forces make balance level? I don't know game has too many question not enough times for me return... 2.99 is good price to put on something that should remain at level where its unbalanced for player go head on collision every time. I played game similar to this and I can't make review until get out closed beta stages. ;( Anyway game over screen means to its too cut and dry process...if this was online game there be more cry babies, I did look see seems more predate on player as you go about I don't see where you can level up easily...
I did tomato quests -> seems lot of those quests there no simple gathering quests gain exp just while there is no crafting which bothers me you have buy from shops..everything is like almost 3K to begin with where am I going make torch anyone? I haven't find ellusive torch anywhere...
did find elf in cage I have no idea what that about couldn't bother with that because predation on player mobs aimed to kill player on sight as I enter their space.
Seems first map and below that map alone is only place you can go in starting point do not go to cave unless you want be owned or dev comes up with reason why or puzzle why that area means death for players? I have no idea there probably no quest in that location it probably in conclusion a place where you can make possible money.
My questions are what are best places to level up on his game and what is most functional quests that give best EXP that keep on giving means it keep on repeating so you keep on getting XP but won't have leave map and get burned and die because you obvious don't have save on there yet. Will you be expanding farm plots it help us out there only three plots if there more than three I see options that game is improving if they stay same forever more then ppl assumed you abandoned it. Or later its just beta case where you get back to it.
I heard about boat, horse and some more crops...and possible magic.
I kind hope for house expansion and crop expansion options if you have these in future of your game it be maybe and yes recomendation...plus if you allow more map exploration, more adventures definite yes. Currently its at starting point where tip left or right so many of us don't know where you will go.
So I've put about 30 mins into the game so far. I can say honestly, that I enjoy the game but it's easy a bit.
WARNING: SPOILERS
Unfortunately this is not a recommended game at it's current point in time. The game is very short, clearing every single monster and quest required roughly 5 hours my first time. The list of PROs is very short, the list of CONs may be a bit overwhelming for most.
PROs:
Classic RPG art style.
Most of the games mechanics are very simple and quick to understand.
Using some strategies you can progress very quickly.
Extremely Cheap
CONS:
Many quests state they give you gold or items but they are not added to the inventory. Noticed this multiple times with healing potions and 300-400 gold when I still remained at a whopping 56 gold total.
No character customization besides items equipped.
Crafting - limited to about 5 recipes which you have no involvement in besides bringing an NPC the items.
Towns - May have monsters in them, have the same dialogue options and room layouts between all types of towns IE: Elves, Barbarians and Pirates.
Combat: Extremely linear, the best armors/weapons are purchasable very early, there is almost no advantage to using magic except to heal and MP is much better used for double/triple attack.
Skills: Skills are learned every level until 6, the 7th level gained no skill or magic and I was unable to level further.
Monsters do not respawn and have a very steep curve early on, you must find a few fights with only 1 mob to level up saving in between fights or you should bypass all fights until you purchase some gear.
Towns are located extremely close to each other, the entire game encompasses roughly 10 very small maps, do not waste time purchasing items from the first town.
Crashing: After fighting a pirate captain *Looks like Captain Hook* I would crash any time I attempted to fight another NPC of this model type on the ship map. On the pirate ship itself I was able to fight that captain.
Monsters do not respawn. All monster models are very generic RPG Maker designs and the sound effects/music will tear holes in your ears after a bit of gameplay.
Mining nodes and collectibles in the world do not respawn, once you collect them do not bother returning.
Dragons are large HP damage sponges with no mechanics or benefit to killing, the items they drop are vendor trash minus the helm, which is easily replacable for small amounts of gold in the second town.
Fishing vendor hidden offers no unique inventory, fishing for treasure chests was impossible after roughly 80 coins used * I may be missing a part of the mechanic?* and fishing nodes offer no unique fish/item chests.
I was hoping that this game would be similar to "Stardew Valley" but no such luck.
Farming is a pedestrian affair and you can only plant one seed at a time on the marked spot, but at least you get your one crop straight away.
Fishing has a very different mechanic to any other game I've seen, but without a tutorial I found it very difficult to actually land any fish. I did catch a couple but quite why I succeeded then is a mystery.
The battles are impossible. From the beginning the enemies are way too strong for a Level 1 fighter, and the rewards are tiny compared to the expensive potions you have to use to stay alive. So dispiriting ...
I've given up playing. At least it was cheap.
Worst fishing minigame ever.
Game was tedious and boring with little to no point.
Not worth the couple of bucks it might cost unless they overhaul everything.
Bought it for the old school look and feel.... only had the look.
This eviscerates my memories of what a good 8 or 16 bit game was like.
This game is alot like 2D Minecraft in the sense that theres alot of crafting. My favorite aspect is what 2D Minecraft as been really missing the adventure aspect.
don't run pirate you'll only get tired die
Amazing Game!
Extremely fun to play, great fishing system :))
