i mean its not the most peak game but the transformations and combat are pretty fucking cool

probably the best DBZ RPG game I've ever played. the cutscenes are beautiful, the fight controls feel smooth, especially in the later game, and the side quests and minigames really fill it out better than most.

for people that never watched dragon ball z this is a great game for that visuals are great and the open wold has alot of collectables that help expand the world and strengthen your characters.

I would buy the ultimate edition at a discount to get all the side story content

Story:
This game is one of the best Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z/Super games to play STORY WISE I’ve ever played and I have been playing dragon ball games since a kid on the PS2. This game has dragon ball content which makes me happy since most people never give it any attention at all, though I wish it was the FULL dragon ball story. It also has Dragon Ball Super content and surprisingly we are getting the new Daima series DLC too!, which 4 years after release shows the devs haven’t given up and want to add more adventures for us to explore . You also have the canon DBZ movies. I hope they add dragon ball GT DLC one day, if they do this will be THE story Dragon ball game. The story is easy to follow if you haven’t read/watched the series ever, it’s also a refresher if you haven’t seen DBZ in years. I don’t have anything to say about its story telling it hits the spot just right.

I don’t play dragon ball games for the combat/combos and I never have. I have always enjoyed the world and characters interactions more as a child and which turns out made me like RPG games as I grew older. So finding out this is a story driven RPG game from the world of dragon ball makes this a dream come true. I am having a great time with this game and playing all of my childhood stories. You are able to train for new abilities and upgrade them with orbs. I do agree the combat is basic and I would rather play sparking zero instead if I want a fighter game. I don’t think the devs intended this to be a fighting game and from the DLCs they added o believe they intended this to just be a story driven RPG game.

Can't believe they haven't fixed the save issue in this game yet, just abandoned it -.- wtf , was going to get sparking zero but I'll pass it will probably get the same treatment

Dreamed of this game since I was 9, trying to get a DBZ RPG running on a palm pilot. Its so incredibly well done, if you are a fan of DBZ this one is a must play.

From the graphics down to the gameplay, its a nice fighting game with rich story. They dont make it dragging, and the animation is actually good.

Best DBZ open world game, it completely covers all the sagas without cutting almost any content from the anime/manga.

The combat is pretty good and satisfying the only thing i don´t really like is the common enemies spamming super armor, this personally pisses me off sometimes.

Play this if you do not want to re-watch the entire DBZ series. The gameplay gets repetitive, lacks dynamic mechanics but overall is worthwhile for the steam achievements and a story recap. Buy when on sale. Kind Regards

A incredible game that looks amazing and holds true to the DBZ story..... but its held back by a somewhat simple combat system. I find myself somewhat loathing the combat in this. Most Dragon Ball games are about the flushed out story mixed with the flushed out combat yet this one feels like the combat was a after thought.
The graphics shine and look incredible at points.
The open areas have a lot going on to the item collection, fishing, side quest,cooking and even just interacting with characters, but the constant enemy NPCs that are every 50 feet just get tedious and annoying. These constant fights while just wanting to explore the areas can easily lead you to be over powered for upcoming fights which only makes the combat less fun then it already is.
Still a recommend for the nostalgia of the DBZ story and the sheer amount you can do.

for being a purely singleplayer fighting game with no vanilla vs mode (You can easily get it with mods), it's actually really fun and pretty good

Listen, I could only recommend this on deep discount and only then if you really, really wanted to play a game that would take you through the DBZ story but more closely that any of the other 10 thousand DBZ games available.

It's more 'a game with fighting in it' than it is 'a fighting game' and it shows in the boring combat, you aren't expected to stay for the fights, you're expected to stay for the story, which if you've watched and/or read DBZ, you already know without having to mash a button to get through the fights.

Honestly I think making the fights boring is the biggest sin possible for a series like DBZ, since it's all about the fights.

this is one of those pieces of entertainment thats actually really good but was completely outshadowed by the other media releasing at the same time, kinda like how megamind got outshadowed by despicable me ngl
this game is really well polished and just a fun game to pick up and play through, wether you know the dbz story already or not, really visually pleasing and manges to keep the anime look despite running at 60 fps (or 30 in cutscenes)
story is the dbz story so nothing special if you already know it
combat is really entertaining but isnt much of a challenge if you keep your characters abilities upgraded
the games biggest drawback is probably the lack of interesting stuff outside of story gameplay
the only really appealing thing is the character board because its cool to create the most powerful combinations and get items but its a pretty minimal stat increase, same goes for cooking, and side quests are just not fleshed out like the story is. story on its own still has lots of replayability though
overall 8.7/10

Incredible game and true to form. Bandai Is known for wonderful Anime fighting games and this is no exception. It has some cons but none worth skipping the game for. Could have been longer and included more of DB but it is a DBZ game so not too huge of a disappointment plus the DLC will include some of the things that happened after the story ended that you may want to experience.

Great game! At least it was until it crashed and deleted all my saved data (Cleared game, obtained SSG, then SSGSS, Lvl 266 Goku, 266 Vegeta, etc. with full character skill trees and know hows.) Over 138 hours of game play gone! I will not be doing this again. Which is a shame because I truly loved this otherwise fantastic game. I was looking forward to purchasing Bardock's story, the 23rd World Tournament, and Goku's New Journey but that is out of the question now. You have lost a very enthusiastic follower. Thank you!

If you are a fan of the anime, you must experience this. The stories are as they are in the anime with additional side stories and extra details in between and after.

What was done really well:
+ Game play in general
+ Rich story with absolutely amazing detail of all the events and characters. Including their fighting styles, what they say, the sounds etc. It feels like you lived the anime to some extent.
+ Graphics are awesome
+ Very well optimised, hardly used my resources.
+ Side stories
+ A little bit of everything for everyone. From the food details, to training, random fights, story, car racing, fishing etc. If you enjoy it, its there, if not, you not force to continue them to complete the story.
+ Community board concept. Great detail on the relationships between characters and their contributions to the game play.

+- Seems like its endless as you grind and grind for things even after the main story.

What could be better:
- Some random encounters were so annoying when trying to engage events, they just kept appearing.
- I really wish the opponents power level in story fights were dynamic. Majority of the game fights were SO easy because i was at least 10 levels higher than them. I did not get to see their full abilities unless i purposely slowed down the match. So it would have been better if their levels were dynamically always higher than yours. Nothing beats that feeling of winning a tough match where you just made it, unfortunately i only experienced this against Frieza and Kid Buu.
- Fights get stale quick with the random encounters.

Overall it was brilliant! Thank you for this awesome game! Looking forward to Sparking Zero :D

this game is fire and the dlcs too its mad worth it and if you have trouble with having controller controls on pc just go into options and then go to graphics settings i think its called and select keyboard & mouse

I've completed the game and some additional content.
Things I wish I'd known in advance:
You can go to the additional content at the bottom of the menu from the very beginning and leveling up will be faster. You can also open transformations there earlier than they appear in the story
You shouldn't grind experience, it's better to grind food first. And due to this, you'll get a boost to the experience you receive and then it'll be much easier to reach the top

One of the best game with the graphics like an anime fan will want.. recommended this game to every anime fan and especially dragon ball fan like me<3

Grinding on basic enemies is worthless unless you are going for parts, or ingredients, if you want to be over leveled {Which I don't know why, the game is VERY easy} do the training DLC right as soon as you can, early Kioken.

Still a great game with some fun mechanincs, very worth the 100 percent

Very very fun game. I really enjoyed seeing the DBZ story again and being able to play through it. Only thing that got a bit repetitive were all the search side quests. Still a great game! Might've been even better if goku was naked

A well made adaptation of the DBZ manga. The combat is simple and enjoyable. Material gathering is a breeze with higher rarity items showing up more once you level up. Don't sleep on the full meals cause they raise your base stats for your party A LOT (especially the 3 star recipes). Some of the sub-stories are a bit lackluster but the EXP is worth it (gotta use those muscle mass for better gains).

I got roughly 50 hrs of content on the base game and haven't touched the DLC. highly recommend picking it up on sale with the DLC if you want bang for your buck. all-in-all a fun experience.

TMHO, the game should stop at the defeating of Frieza, anything after that fight feels redundant. Overall a very good game, combat is 6.5/10, story 10/10, a perfect remake of the anime.

Can't recommend this in good faith, unless it's a hard sale. Story is fine, it is Dragon Ball Z after all, but the combat is a little too simple for my liking. Very easy to get bored since there isn't a whole lot to learn. If you're wanting a better fighting system I'd recommend getting Xenoverse or the upcoming Sparking Zero if you're looking for something more engaging

Beautiful graphics with great storytelling. Even though I've played through the same story in many Dragon Ball games, this one in particular truly brings the intensity through each boss battle that comes about.

slept on this game for a cool minute has a slow intro but the combat just get better and better each saga definitely a cop when its on sale

TLDR: Its great. Its a treat for DBZ fans and I think its a pretty solid way for new peeps who havnt watched the show to get into it.

Solid way to experience DBZ and unique to me.
I reckon this is a more accessible way (time wise) to get into DB than the show.
It does obvs cut some moments so its not as long. But if ya dont know what your missin, you wont feel like ur missin out trust me. Still keeps in all you NEED to know. But if u want more charm and info, the show is just an additional step on your road to consuming PEAK >:)

Also this has to be the highest quality DB game where u get to roam around the world, its quite nice. Its pretty sweet bein able to collect the dragon balls the proper way too. Just havin the freedom to explore makes it more fun to play, usually the games have linear menu type story progression(not really sure wtf that even is but if ya get it ya get it) (not bad, in fact its PEAK) but it can make you yearn for more freedom when goin through the story (we got that here).

That final fight *chefs kiss*. Amazing! Enjoyed the whole game, but this fight really just felt like a reward, felt so GOOD!

WOW! 2 hours in and i can already tell this is going to be an all time favorite of mine! love dragonball universe to begin with but this game is something else! the gameplay is designed beautifully including the cool combat control system (imho at least), and the graphics are wow level stuff, absolutely beautiful fluid animation and scenes, especially on an aurora 13 alienware with 4k hd graphics and a large gaming monitor!!! normally the movies in games annoy me, but i cant help but watch in stunned amazement at how nice this looks! and its not just a pretty world of cut scenes followed by cartoon graphics that make you think you're playing an old 1990's super nintendo game either! the game world itself is stunningly beautiful and quite expansive from what i can tell so far! lastly, it's a very fun almost "new" feeling ride through the dragonball z story, even if you kind of know what's coming next from watching the story! all in all, i'm having a blast and would rate the game very highly. whether you're a dbz fan or not it's a game worth playing! especially for those who don't know anything about dbz, as the gameplay (from what i've seen so far) will take you right through the story of the anime! two thumbs up, very well done so far!
