DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT

DragonBall Z in Goku, Vegeta, and in all the other character's perspective. Do I need to explain why this is already peak fiction? Sure there are somethings missing from the anime but its still an amazing game!

I played the game without knowing the party system in the game which makes battles less harder, I solo'ed 80-90 percent of the game only to find out what that party system is :( any ways it was a grind took more time to finish the game. its enjoyable and worth every penny

If you asked me before the DLC's I would have said, this is the greatest Dragon Ball Game. And honestly, for the story, it is (or was). After they released the DLCs, it consistently and constantly crashes my game. Even IF i reset my entire save file. Honestly, the game is no longer worth it, and I feel cheated out of this.
Do I recommend? No. No I don't, and I hate that I have to say that as a massive Dragon Ball fan.

I'm 3 hours in and this feels like the Dragon Ball z game that I imagine when I was a kid. You're not going through exhaustive hour long training just to get basic functions. It's plug and Play. Very little training. A lot of story and a lot of fighting

This game is just amazing and pretty much a love letter to dragon ball fans

control support is awesome, however even on easy mode the first boss is ridiculously hard for no reason and spams power attacks ruining mild game play. if you like challenging game play that is time consuming this is for you, otherwise its wasted potential.

Bought this game for switch (surprisingly it didn't run really well). Enjoyed the pc experience a lot though.

One of my favorite anime adaptations, and games. They nailed the art style, and animation. The fights are satisfying and fun. The story is pure nostalgia and I'm here for it. I had this game on Stadia, but since it's death I was waiting for it to go on sale on Steam. Happily repurchased.

I have put over a 100hrs into this game on my steam deck alone the animated cut-scenes is worth the price.

It’s everyone’s dream to fly through the world of Dragon Ball. That dream is realized in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. You will know what it feels like to battle some of the fiercest foes in the Dragon Ball universe with stylish combat. If you are a Dragon Ball fan you will not be disappointed.

Overview

This game is a thorough retelling of the Dragon Ball Z anime. It is a kid friendly game with pretty basic combat, movement, and RPG elements. This game is very cut-scene heavy. My story complete save took 39 hours and I would bet 75% of it was
cut-scenes. There are some cut scenes in the last chapter (Buu Saga) that felt like 20 minutes.

Progression

Progression in this game is somewhat of an illusion. You get to higher levels and do more damage and have higher base HP, but so do the enemies. You really only ever feel OP when you are doing activities like the training room, villainous enemies, and training grounds after eclipsing the recommended level because those enemy levels are static.
I wish the open world battles were more rewarding because I would be more than willing to grind them to give myself an advantage, but this is not the case. You would have to spend about an hour just to gain a level from open world fights.

Bosses

The first boss (Radditz) is definitely the hardest. After learning how to beat him the rest of them are extremely easy, especially if you have consumables you can basically defeat them all on your first try. Some of the bosses have attacks that guarantee damage which is annoying, but if you have consumables you still shouldn't have trouble beating any of them on the first try.

Side Quests

There are nice QOL features to the side quests when you need to retrieve an item for the quest giver. They usually teleport you back to the quest giver once you find the item. In other words, you don't have to go manually back and forth on retrieval quests. Overall, I think the side quests are worth doing. They are quick and give exp and items, but if you are on a time budget I would skip the fishing ones.

Conclusion

Speaking of time budget, I probably wouldn't recommend this game to anyone who only has 1-3 hrs per week to play. You will be sitting through a lot of cut-scenes. To reiterate, it's a very basic kid friendly game without puzzles or a lot of complexity. Collecting materials only involves getting near items and there are no material storage caps to worry about, and the combat is basically 2 buttons. I haven't watched the original anime in over 20 years so it was very fun to experience the story again through an open-world game. This game was a nice break from complex games that proliferate the market these days.

300$ for all the DLC ? Including 15$ to have the original musics that are in the trailer ? Well back to mugen I guess.

Last played last year when I boot it up again, why does it say I need to purchase tne season pass to access DLC? I couldn't load my saved file.

I would not recommend the game for those using PC even if I personally do find the game fun. The guide/tips only help with Xbox controls and when playing on the PC (at least to me) you are pressing random keys and hope that they work.

Great game for a Dragon Ball fan just looking to experience the Dragon Ball Z story.

Kakarot is essentially a retelling of the Dragon Ball Z story (excluding the DLC), and it does an incredible job of it!

With RPG elements like leveling up, skill trees, and items, it makes for a well-rounded game! It's also somewhat open-world; you can unlock areas as you progress through the story and engage in various side quests. Some of these quests delve into more obscure events, while others follow the familiar formula of "I need this item, please retrieve it; oh no, a villain has taken it—defeat them and bring it back!"

The graphics are stunning, and I find the combat system to be solid and enjoyable!

I wholeheartedly recommend this game to any Dragon Ball enthusiast!

As for the DLC, it's definitely worthwhile! Each DLC adds unique gameplay elements that keep things feeling fresh in comparison to the main game. It’s worth picking up as well! The "Legendary Super Satan" is the best piece of DBZ content I've ever seen!

Also shout-out to Toriyama on his 70th birthday! RIP, King and hope you're training well with King Kai!

nearly 35 hours of playtime, completed main story, came back less then 30 minutes later and my entire save has disappeared. Great game until this happened, will not play anymore unless my save somehow is restored.

One Of my Favourite Games off all time.. Incredible Game.. Incredible T.V Show and this is the first Game that represents it well. It includes elements of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (Mainly DBZ, but if you haven't watched just Dragon Ball you will learn all about it in this game.) and then the DLC's have some other elements of Saga's like Super and some of the movies etc.. I have been waiting to play a DBZ game like Kakarot my Entire Life pretty much.. The only thing i could say that would make it better is if the DLC had more Stories, Fights and Missions to them.. So you can enjoy it for a bit longer.. anyway great game.. 9.5/10

Best Dragon Ball Z game ever in terms of telling the entire story of Z. Highly recommend for those who love Dragon Ball Z and those who never really got into the series but still would love to learn about it in video game format. they really went all out with the cut-scenes. The achievements are also fairly easy to grind. Any DBZ fan should definitely own this.

☑ Quest tasks you to stop poachers. Also Yajirobe wants you to butcher a bunch of deers for him.
☑ Races and driving mechanics put Forza / NFS to shame.
☑ You can fish with a fake tail attached to you butt. Take notes, RDR2.
☑ Dodoria should be a boss on Dark Souls. Better chug those vitadrinks.

It is overall a good and fun game, I enjoyed the flashiness of some attacks (without being an epileptic hazard), the transformations are cool (Although I wish you could use Kaioken while using Super Saiyan) and overall it is a simple but enjoyable experience. I do recommend buying it even as I am about to list some gripes.

First off: The combat, as mentioned, is very simple which usually wouldn't be an issue if the enemies couldn't just decide to ignore things like hitstun and retaliate with extremely powerful combos and attacks that mow your hp down, which then greatly hinders your own combo capabilities and damage. Your ability to charge ki and fight back ar also hampered by this issue.

The wild encounters are interesting at first but there are only so many fucking times you can hear "Might cause trouble later, better deal with it now" and "I think I can handle it" as you fly around. The fights themselves quickly become a chore as the drones they bring can heal and buff the foes- taking them out isn't easy either as they can be healed by their own effects or by other drones and their hp pool isn't nothing either. I might go back to normal difficulty and hope to alleviate this issue.

The voice acting was sort of stiff and awkward at a *few* points but that was mainly the beginning of the cell saga with android 17 and 18, otherwise it has been great.

The game has a problem that a majority of games like it does- having to *win* every fight. This complaint might not make much sense but I mean that... If you are fighting a "super strong" foe that is so much stronger than your character (Ie raditz vs goku at the beginning of the saiyan saga) you can't "win" by any other means than defeat. It would be more ideal to have the score system be based on time "survived" before you got your ass handed to you.

Some awesome scenes were unfortunantly cut such as Goku beaming off the top of Cell during their fight, or Cell being heavily injured after the first beam struggle with Gohan.

Overall, as I first stated, I still recommend the game but the complexity might be a turn off for more than a handful of people.

I honestly wasn't expecting much, but this game is genuinely enjoyable, and it eats up the hours. It isn't often I just sit and play a newly-acquired game for 3 straight hours, let alone marathon it on my days off. It's like experiencing the anime I watched as a kid all over again, with (almost) full voice acting, and expansive open world maps to explore as all the main characters, complete with side quests and collectables.

The combat is great fun, even as someone who isn't into fighting games, I think largely because it feels far more fast-paced Kingdom Hearts/real-time Final Fantasy than it does a typical fighting game, and it feels damn refined and polished, as you'd hope it'd be given the IP. The cutscenes really sell it for me, though - they feel extremely faithful to the anime, with an artstyle that compliments the action without feeling removed from the source material.

Give this a go, especially since it's on sale. I haven't purchased any of the DLC's, but at this rate it's looking like a certainty I will if the game retains this level of enjoyment.

The only real downside for me is that there are entirely too many random encounters whilst out exploring, and it seriously kills the flow of gameplay. I'm half a second away from installing a trainer just to remove them, because they're a hindrance and annoyance, and don't even give enough EXP to be worth the constant interruptions. Strategy also isn't even required, button mashing B to win is a great way to develop bad habits that'll be to the detriment of story fights, ie when timing and focus are needed.

(I know random encounters can be skipped or beaten in one hit once you're a high enough level, but that a) doesn't change the fact that they're a constant interruption to exploration, and b) force the player character to utter the exact same line every time they get close, which in and of itself is an annoyance.)

Realy cool that this game has gotten as many updates as it has! the game definitely is starting to show its age however. fundamentally, there are quite a few 'dead spots.' but also the geometry and textures don't mesh well in a lot of spots. BUT ABOVE ALL ELSE, LET US TURN MOTION BLUR OFF!!!

Esse jogo é resumidamente uma prova de amor para todos os fãs de Dragon Ball, ele é tão bem feito e tem tanto carinho nele que é até difícil colocar tudo em uma review, diversas cenas do anime que adaptaram no jogo e ficou MUITO mais lindo que chegam a emocionar, sinceramente eu nunca fui fã do gênero de visual novel e ter que ficar lendo balãozinho de fala, mas pra esse jogo, vale a pena cada diálogo, ainda mais sabendo que várias missões secundarias que não acontecem no anime, são canônicas já que o Akira participou do desenvolvimento desse jogo oque torna ele 1000x mais especial, tirando o fato de que esse jogo custa uma fortuna, pior ainda se comprar as DLC separado, eu diria que esse jogo é perfeito, mesmo que o combate fique bem fácil depois que se paga o jeito, ainda é muito divertido ver as lutas clássicas do anime, ver todas as sagas sendo adaptadas de forma tão fiel, é difícil um jogo me prender por tanto tempo, e esse jogo mereceu cada segundo, caso for comprar recomendo esperar uma promoção pra pegar a edição com todas as DLCs porque comprar separado não vale a pena, mas é obrigatório ter essas DLCs por serem tão boas quanto o jogo principal, e também, tão bem feitas quanto, a platina do jogo também é bem fácil de se conseguir e MUITO divertida, a trilha sonora nem se fala, várias músicas clássicas do anime, sinceramente se eu pudesse eu apagava minha mente e jogava esse jogo de novo repetidas vezes sem parar pra sempre, esse é com certeza o melhor jogo de anime que existe e mal posso esperar pra DLC de daima lançar, se estiver em promoção, compre, isso é uma obra de arte.
