Its literally playing through the main sagas of DBZ with things to collect, checklists to complete and side quests to give screen time to the less notable characters/stories
I listen to the full intro song every time I fire up the game. Its a lot of fun once you get to grips with the controls.
super fun and addictive the fetch quest can be a little bit long at times but overall id recommend to anyone even people who aint fans of the series

I grew up with Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Z. And this games is just too perfect for fan service. Now all we need is just the original Dragon Ball in style of Black Myth Wukong game.
Amazing RPG. Purchase on sale for a rewatching. It's clear that CC2 did a great job on it, stunning graphics and amazing cinematics.
Fantastic gameplay, Story is very well done and follows the anime well. If you grew up watching and playing the older DBZ games such as budokai or the legacy of Goku GBA games then you will enjoy this game immensely.

Despite a few frustrating design decisions, the game is overall very robust and rewarding. Possibly the best DBZ game ever made, for single player at least.
Okay maybe is the nostalgia taking but I was quite glad I bought this game. I was surprised with how much fun I had with it. The formula is pretty simple, sometimes too simple, but nothing beats the feeling of playing as the characters you grew up watching on TV. I totally recommend the game specially if you're a fan of the anime.

Have already played and finished on PS5 but no DLC. The DLC only makes the game better and much more enjoyable giving so much more than it already has. Unforgettably amazing and always gonna be a favorite game.

It's just plain fun going around a world getting items, developing characters, training, and going through the story. Save before big events so if you lose you can go back. If you find out you can't quite beat that boss, go back to the prior save, keep working on stuff that character needs to win. Overall, it's not all that hard, and it's quite enjoyable.

Good DBZ game. A bit repetitive in ways, and the random battles are kind of annoying but honestly it's a great RPG with a lot of good, albeit somewhat hidden, mechanics. Some missing scenes here and there, but an otherwise awesome interactive retelling of the Z story, many hours of game content, and very much worth playing through.
Great Game if you love DBZ get this and play the story without alot of filler!
Fantastic game. Plays wonderfully on the OLED SteamDeck, and does not drain the battery fast in my experience. I don't play these style games much, but liked DBZ as a youth, so figured I would snag it on sale. Has been a very casual, fun to play experience thus far.
It has enough depth to keep you engaged for many hours, but never feels like a grind. You just have to play the main story and the manageable spattering of side quests to end up with everything you need.
Another thing I personally enjoyed was that the story is essentially a recap of the DBZ show, so I got a solid dose of nostalgia and got back up to speed on the key lore, which was cool.
I see myself putting around 60 hours in this before something else takes its place, but could just as easily see myself putting 100 hours into it because of how easy it is to 'pick up-put down- repeat'

If the camera control was like Dragon ball Xenoverse, this would be the best dragon ball Action RPG game of all time to me.

The Downsides
1. Combat Issues:
The combat system has a few flaws. The AI often has priority when attacking, even if you're in the middle of a combo. It interrupts your moves too easily, which can feel frustrating. I also wish the combat mechanics were a bit deeper to add more variety.
2. Leveling Problems:
On hard difficulty, completing all side missions doesn’t give enough experience points (XP) to keep up with enemy levels.
Solution: I bought the Legendary Edition to unlock Whis' Training and get Sacred Waters. This allows you to level up faster without endless grinding. I recommend staying 1–2 levels below enemies to keep battles challenging but fair. If you’re over-leveled, fights become too easy.
3. No Latin Spanish Dub:
It’s disappointing that there’s no Latin Spanish voiceover. The Japanese voices are available and work well, but having a Latin dub would have been perfect.

This is pretty much an early 2000's action JRPG. It uses Dragonball Xenoverse's engine/combat. It's (carpal tunnel inducingly) fast paced combat. If you want to re-re-re... experience the Dragonball Z story, but in an action adventure light RPG fashion, you'll get plenty of runtime out of this one. It was a pretty engaging if not relatively frustrating, of an experience for me overall.
I do hightly recommend getting the dlc stories as well.
High points: Bardock, 23rd world tournament (OG Dragonball rep.)
Low point: No Dragonball GT (God Tier)
They'll give you plenty to experience, and they really help round things out. I recommend doing them in canon order. Early as possible, Bardock and 23rd world tournament. Future Trunks after Cell, and the rest post game.

A young me would be blown away with this game. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot sends you directly to your childhood through Trunk’s time machine. When you’re not blasting the infamous DBZ villains with Kamehamehas, you’ll find yourself exploring for ingredients, doing side quests or fishing! The pacing is good, although the smaller overworld enemies are kinda repetitive. The combat isn’t too complicated, it’s flashy and fun at times. The level-up system is truly fleshed out.
Overall, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is probably the best way to relive the story of Dragon Ball Z. This game goes over and beyond with the nostalgia train.

Sure, the game is fun but it can be really annoying when side quests are going from a to b, b to c, fight basic enemies, collect item, talk to npc, or having to go through the process of running a long distance away to avoid a fight, a longer distance to escape one, or to fight NPC's in the open world you don't want to necessarily fight, especially when they're all over the place on the map
Sure, the game is fun but the combat system is pretty simple and leaves you wishing for more depth and even base abilities; most if not all enemies have a red aura charge attack that (I think) you cannot break that you just need to time a burst (releasing energy on a block) for I-frames and that's it, yet you cannot do this yourself
Sure, the game is fun but it's repetitive when I'm constantly put into encounters I don't necessarily want to fight with the same few, few enemy types
Either way, I like it so far, it's a solid game but I'd recommend waiting for a sale if you have a little bit of patience, at least for me the price went to 15 USD (75% off)

If you like Dragon Ball Z, you'll like this game. The story is pretty streamlined but includes most major events. The combat is pretty good (not as good as the new game but still pretty fun). But, you WON'T like this game if you're not a fan of RPGs.

I like the open world style, it's simple to learn (low entry) and hard to master with all the RPG elements. And there is a lot, still figuring out all the menus.

What's not to love.. It's a bit strange to win your fights but then to still lose, but that's because of the story.

This is THE way to experience the story of Dragon Ball Z in any video game, the fights can feel a bit repetitive but the game isn't for the intense fight, it is for a good story telling of DBZ's Storyline and has some great DLCs that improves the overall rating of the game, this may say that i've only played game for 3 hours but i've already played the game on my PS5 and the boss battles were very good with the last battle against Buu being very good, this game is definite recommendation from me, buy the Legendary Edition if you can, the 2 Season Pass you get with it are definetly worth it
Getting to experience the dragon ball universe I grew up with with an accurate depiction of the story was a dream come true. The fighting is everything I want and the detail to the world made it all the better. I would highly recommend the game to any dragon ball fans.
