As of December 4, 2016, the online services portion of Batman: Arkham Origins has been retired. We thank those that have joined us to battle. The Single player campaign may still be played and enjoyed offline. For any questions relating to Batman: Arkham Origins, please contact WB Games customer service.
Batman™: Arkham Origins is the next installment in the blockbuster Batman: Arkham videogame franchise. Developed by WB Games Montréal, the game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight.
Key Features:
The Arkham Story Begins: Batman: Arkham Origins features a pivotal tale set on Christmas Eve where Batman is hunted by eight of the deadliest assassins from the DC Comics Universe. Players become an early-career Batman as he encounters for the first time many of the characters that shape his future.
Enhanced Detective Mode: Think like Batman with an all-new Case File system that allows players to analyze seemingly impossible-to-solve crime reconstructions in real time. Combining Batman’s cowl sensors with the Batcomputer, players can digitally recreate crimes and study detailed simulation of the act as it happened.
Gotham City will learn to fear Batman: Take back the sprawling streets of Gotham years before its transformation into Arkham City. Glide above or battle your way through new and ever more dangerous districts in the quest for justice. Prevent crimes in progress, take down gangs of violent new criminals and explore deadly new locations, from the impoverished streets to the penthouses of Gotham’s wealthy.
Gotham’s Most Wanted: The city streets are filled with more than just Black Mask’s assassins. Locate and take down Gotham’s most violent and dangerous criminals to earn unique upgrades.
Lethal New Enemies: Fight new foes such as the Armored Enforcer, the Martial Artist and more – each of which challenge players to approach Batman’s FreeFlow Combat scenarios in different ways. Classic FreeFlow combat is expanded with every new opponent – and with Batman’s abilities to engage them.
New Gadgets: Utilize Batman’s signature gadgets or take advantage of powerful new additions such as the Remote Claw, the Concussion Detonator and more. Use the Remote Claw to create new routes by deploying strategic tightropes or directly attack enemies by stringing them up from vantage points. Ready the Concussion Detonator to stun and disorient groups of opponents in close combat.
New and Familiar Characters: Experience a fresh take on iconic Batman characters including Black Mask, Penguin, Deathstroke, Bane, Deadshot, Anarky, Captain Gordon, The Joker, Copperhead, Firefly and others yet to be revealed.

This game brings me joy . I love hopping on and just playing re watching the lore. This has been incredibly enjoyable . I have a near potato laptop and this game runs smoothly . I get to play my favourite superhero and beat people up , couldn't get any better than this
Best story line ever showing how it began during one Christmas of how the Batman took on the enemies he made and I would recommend you play this game as I rate it 10/10 batarangs!
As a proud owner of all Arkham games I can confidently say this is the best of the series. Idk why it gets so much hate its so good.
Some technical issues, but overall fun and bosses are great. 8.2/10
Another Solid entry for the Batman series.
Pros
-Visually Attractive
-Good writing as expected from a character with almost an entire century of source material.
-Runs pretty smooth though I did experience one crash.
-Controls feel smooth
-Combat very intuitive though sometimes repetitive.
Cons
-When you take the glorified scavenger hunt out of the equation the game feels short. I would have loved a bit more story.
-The combat gets repetitive.
Conclusion
Over all solid entry to the Batman series. I would definitely recommend.
Not like I expected. There's so much bug in this game and I don't like story that much but boss fights the best ever in the series. If I don't say it'll be unforgivable that side missions so much fun to do I like them....
Overall: 7/10
It was fine, just fine that's it. If u really want more batman its a good game but if u want a batman as good as the trio well... it will disappoint you.
buggy as hell, constantly loses files and skips. stick with the xbox version, this has got to be the worst port ive ever seen get you're shit together or give away games for free instead of charging people for broken games!
This game is not bad. Since it wasn't made by rocksteady i didnt expect too much from it. Not better than arkham city but fun to play if just see it as a prequel at the time 2013 WB wanted to pump out a batman game before arkham knight came out to make money so this is what this game is.
very fun open world. amazing story. not sure why this game gets hated on
Loved the game, and great Batman origin game to play. Altho it freezes at certain points in gameplay, not able to exit the game without having to shut down my laptop.
Played: 12 May - 24 May
It has been years since I've played this game but people at the time of writing this review most people seem to consider this game a bad game. I remember replaying this game multiple times and even though this game might've been a bit different and the odd one out from the original Arkham Trilogy, I think for what this game did do it was fun. Highlights I still remember to this day is the Deathstroke boss fight and the sick Carol of the Bells Joker theme.
The Black Mas- i mean Black Sheep of the Arkham series, it came out 2 years after Arkham City, and 2 years before Arkham Knight. Rocksteady was busy making their Magnum Opus, and WB aimed to fill the demand of the next game, so they got another team to work on Origins with the same engine and assets. (i'm ignoring the multiplayer)
This game didn't age as well as City. Right off the bat (pun intended), the game feels like a spin-off. The environment texture work is worse, the lighting is worse, the shadows bias has issues, the colors and mood is different, story telling style is different, and many of the characters has different voice actors.
While its an overall downgrade from Arkham City, how much it affects your experience is quite subjective. In fact, when i first played this, it was my favorite in the series because i like the whole prequel aspect and the combat was easier. On its own, it's still a really fun game.
Game can run at 144fps by default, no need to edit the .ini file. Rag dolls do glitch out sometimes.
I don't care what everyone said about this game . I've played 11 hours and it's absolutely the best Arkham game . Despite outdated graphic, it' still worth if you want to enjoy the story and fighting with Bosses
Love the fact its on steam, and for decent price, though remember its an old game so physics are a bit funny sometimes, 9.5/10
very baller, makes me want to be a vigilante and save a city on christmas eve :D
Game just doesn't work, doesn't launch, when it does launch it crashes within about 2 minutes and even when I temporarily got it working it wasn't worth it and then another problem comes and won't let the game open ever again. Average WB Video Game
Boss fights are stupidly hard. This game is unplayable. It was seemingly made for gamers who need therapy to deal with their masochistic impulses. Is having fun in a game not interesting to people anymore?
Unironically the best Batsuit Ive seen in any Batman media. Also the game is good.
Call me a pseud, but I like it when there's more to a hostile relationship than just hatred. There's almost a sense of codependence here.
Joker does what he always does, culling the criminal weeds and watching them grow back, like they always do. There's nothing fun to it anymore, nothing unexpected, just people following their economic incentives and means with all the predictability of a plant growing toward sunlight. He becomes utterly reckless searching for something that can't be broken down into that, something to prove there's more to living than possessions and power, something magical.
So he finds Batman, and he becomes absolutely infatuated.
They're both impossible to rationalize in the things they do. Joker is a mass murdering lunatic. Batman can't put his promise to his parents aside, especially when a mass murdering lunatic uses it against him.
Now that he found him, why would Joker ever want to play with someone else?
the UI absolutely sucks in this game "ohhh its not made by rocksteady that doe-" i wanna get into it but the game feels so stiff compared to asylum
Although this game is showing its age 12 years after its release, this is by far the most stable way to play Origins after trying "cloud gaming" from PlayStation (with no option for Xbox). My first play-through of the game for the Christmas season on PS was chopped, buggy, and, at some points, crashed if the screen became too crowded. Plus, it ran at 740p at 30fps the entire time. So far, the game has run without any hiccups, aside from a few audio and camera bugs on occasion that didn't bother me as much as some people imply. After playing the entire trilogy to completion, here are my thoughts
When the game came out over 10 years ago, the was a heavy stigma that it was Arkham City 1.5 without Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill to save it. I was against playing this game back then because it was just City all over again with three cool boss fights and a new area that felt more like traversing in Asylum without roofs over you. After playing through and exploring (and re-exploring) these areas, I found it easier to glide and grapple in the original City area than in Coventry, Diamond District, and Burnley. Some of the rooftops were blocked off, unable to grapple to the tops of buildings, and at times, the buildings felt a little bit too close together to navigate through.
But besides the map, the tools at your disposal are grim at best. Sure, it is an appropriate tone shift from future tech in City to the raw, unfinished tools presented in Origins. However, a majority of them are direct copies of gadgets from City. And don't get me started on the Electrocutioner's gloves that turns hard mode into easy mode that ruins the fun of combat. (hey, that's a challenge: complete Origins without using Electrocutioner's gloves). Speaking of combat and predator, it is nearly identical to what City has, with the only drawback being the camera in free flow being wonky when (basically) teleporting to goons to build combos.
The story was good, with character growth points reminding the player that this is a younger, more brutal Batman who makes mistakes. Although the biggest fallout that could be seen from a mile away was Joker being Black Mask the whole time (the same goes with Arkham Knight being Jason Todd). My favorite part that makes this stand out from the other games is the detective work; seeing a play-by-play recreation of a crime taking place was something I wished Knight would improve upon instead of making it locked to Professor Pyg.
Although my first experience with cloud gaming was rough, doing this on PC was a fresh welcome and drastically changed my opinion of the game in favor. Still, try to buy the game at a discount and play it during the festive season to get into the Christmas setting.
The first boss fight is pitifully difficult for something so early on. Button prompts blatantly don't work. Has spoiled the entire game for me. Very poor design for such a great series.
An underrated arkham game .the gameplay is similar to city but the bosses are the best in the series.story and characters are so good .definitely checkout this one sale.the snowy gotham is amazing .
Its a fun game with great boss battles
There are quite some goosebumps moments especially near the end
But I experienced many instances of stuttering during normal gameplay and especially in boss fights like invisible enemies and no sound during the fight
This should've been included in the Arkham Series bundles, it's a great game. Story and boss fights are great and gameplay wise, it is somewhere in between City and Knight. My only nitpick is performance isn't great out of the box in Linux.
I see so many people when getting into the Arkham Verse not remember nor Know this game came out. Besides out of the endless amount of bugs and glitches and flaws this game has, It is so good with the best boss fights of the series. Sadly you cannot Legitimately Fully 100% this game anymore, But a high 9/10 recommendation for this game alone, Cold Cold Heart adds to it more too.
Batman Arkham Origins is Fantastic game in the Arkham series that I only recently got and I love it.
There are amazing Graphics, amazing fight sequences and if you like any of the other games in the series(or just new)... I highly recommend this Game. The story is well done and I find the gameplay to be very addictive.
This game tends to go on sale and I highly recommend it to anyone who like some DC action
Plays like shit, looks like shit, story is a convoluted flaming garbage that nobody asked for it. I guess this is the first batman game i give a negative review.
This being a 'prequel' tot the arkham asylum game you won't have the same equipment as that game or the perfected combat from arkham city since this game was made by some no name developers and not by rocksteady.
Nice action game.
Not a masterpiece, but surely enjoyable
For a filler title done by a B-team studio, it's amazing. Comparing to the other Arkham games, best boss fights hands down, and second-best story out of the other 3 and is totally worth it if you enjoyed Asylum and City. It will feel like a step back though if you go from Knight to Origins, but that's because Origins came first.
yesssssssss i love batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm not really a HUGE huge fan of da arkham series tho, da writin sometimes feels iffy cuz sometimes it sets somethin interestin but doesn't really follow up on it a lot so idk, but whateva it was fun to play through and da situations are cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not as good as Arkham City. Somehow it's a slight downgrade technically. Gameplay wise it feels kind of like a beta version of Arkham City which is strange because this game came after. My biggest let down is how there are now "fake doors" (doors which are not actually doors) and a lot of invisible walls blocking you from places which seem accessible but are not supposed to be. In the earlier games they even had the in-game excuse of old brittle walls where you could not grapple. Here it's just like "Nope, you can't grapple there. Nope, you can't go there. No, that door is just there for decoration."
However, it's still a great game worth playing for the general atmosphere and for allowing you to be Batman for just a little bit longer.
Eh, don't play unless you're either: diehard batman fan or want to play all arkham games. The game kinda falls on both the gameplay and the story.
From a gameplay pov this literally could've been arkham city dlc, the gameplay is 99% the same. The open world-ness is a waste of time and unlocking the waypoints takes more energy than just powering through the game. Side quests are very lame and worth skipping outside of like 1-2 of them.
Story was okay until the "twist". Idk why they always have to make a batman origins story feature that guy. They basically steal the spotlight and tell you you wasted your time the first half of the game. Then it devolves into arkham asylum hulk enemies and very similar final boss. Lame.
It is a good game because of the story and it is really good to learn about how the villains originated and what their motifs are, and that is all pretty cool but the combat is tricky at first but it does grow on you after playing the game for a while. There are a couple of bad things about the game though and the thing i am most disappointed at is the stealth mechanics because they aren't nearly as good as the other Arkham games but leaving on a high note the Cold Cold Heart DLC is very good due to how short and sweet it is when explaining the origins of Mr Freeze. 7.3/10
As per my personal experience, I love this game. Being in the boots of the dark knight, fighting bad guys and the villain bosses, a lot of side missions and its an open world game which is another reason this game is a load of fun. After all these years, this game still holds its value. I would recommend this game to each & every gamer out there.
Out of all of the Arkham games, I put Origins at my favorite overall, favorite world, 2nd favorite combat (of course my favorite going to Knight), my favorite art direction, my favorite story, favorite bosses, it's just so good. Please play it if you haven't already, the ending is worth getting to at least once. The combat feels great and responsive, and the shockgloves are genuinely underrated. Sure they make combat easier, but the game has the 2nd most varied amount of enemies, with Knight having faster combat, it was the next best thing. It comes late into the game, like the 3/4 mark, if not later. It really doesn't ruin combat at all. The cutscenes, while not going above 30 FPS, still look visually great today. It's seriously still underrated, as I see so many people complain about it, when in my humble opinion, it's the best in the franchise. It makes you feel like the shadows, like a predator ready to take out hundreds of unsuspecting thugs whenever you want. There's so much I could say, but just go experience it for yourself. The game often drops down to $4, sometimes even $2 so pick it up, it's a great game to play around the holidays, and the setpieces will keep you coming back every year.
i stronglly recommend anyone who is playing batman for first time play this game as your first game
Hella fun Christmas story. I love the voice actor for Batman in this, amazing performance, conveys all the rage and inexperience of a younger bat. I definitely liked the story a lot except for a few moments
like Alfred stopping you from leaving right after he gave you a new gadget . I really like the setup of multiple assassins hunting you even though we know that nothing is gonna build off of it as this is a prequel to Rocksteady's Arkham. The atmosphere is really cool (no pun intended). I maybe in the minority here but I prefer this over Arkham City.
Riddler is absolute lunacy in this, infuriating even the data pack at the top floor of Gotham Royal will haunt me forever . Also, you cannot 100% this game since the multiplayer servers were shut down years ago, I wish they would remove those achievements.
Better than I expected. Baker did a damn good Hamill impression, and Smith is a pretty good Batman. Story was a fun ride, gameplay is the same goodness as Arkham City. If you aren't burnt out on the series' gameplay, it's definitely worth the 5 bucks on sale. Best boss fights in the series.
If you have a lot of FPS drops, try just alt+tabbing out and back in the game. Worked for me.

I'd been meaning to play Arkham Origins for some time, it's the only one that hasn't been re-released and my perception of public opinion was that this game is an unwanted child a Victorian parent would keep locked in the attic. Playing it on my Steam Deck, I can confirm that (1) it does function most of the time and (2) if I were a Victorian parent and the Arkham games were my children, Arkham Origins would indeed be kept in the attic.
Almost all of the problems in this game can be attributed to WB Games taking over development responsibilities so Rocksteady Studios could work on Arkham Knight, and it shows. Writing, visual design, UI/UX design, and animations all took a hit even compared to Arkham City, to the point where not even the spooky Christmas vibes with a dramatic version of “Carol of the Bells” constantly playing could improve this game.
Arkham Origins tells the story of an angry, unrefined Batman developing his relationship with Jim Gordon in a reskinned Arkham City. The concept of this story is well-crafted, and I loved how it pulled from the Year One, The Man Who Laughs, and The Long Halloween comics. However, there are simply too many villains that the story gets muddled. The Joker is well written and Troy Baker’s performance is one of my favorites, but he’s not in the story enough. “It would be so easy if you were all I wanted,” the Joker says, despite being the one to put out a hit on Batman. Bane is also menacing as a secondary antagonist, but is inconsistent with what he wants. He wants to kill Batman, and almost has him, but decides to (1) withhold Batman’s secret identity from the public and (2) takes the TN-1 formula when he’s already winning. This version of Bane seems too intelligent and cunning for someone who would risk the side effects of TN-1.
Jim Gordon is done as best as he could be, although how he ages between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum is crazy. He has a conflicting line in the final cutscene where he wonders why he didn’t arrest Batman, like it was a possibility while Batman was escaping when Gordon wasn’t looking. Arkham Origins also takes an interesting look at the role of the police in Gotham City, and Batman’s extralegal status as a vigilante. Absolutely nothing is done with either- Barbara Gordon calls out Jim for his participation in a systemically corrupt place of capital violence, but because he’s “one of the good ones” he can clean up the department, as if suddenly the GCPD is now no longer able to be systemically corrupt. Both Jim and Anarky call out Batman on his operation outside the law, and both have a point, but it’s immediately moot because Anarky is trying to blow up a bunch of buildings and Batman can just sneak away from Jim. There’s many, many interesting opportunities to explore Batman’s character and what he should mean in relation to policing, but nothing is followed through on.
Regarding animations, Arkham Origins has the sloppiest in the series. Non-cinematic cutscenes have uneven and generic mouth-syncing with the dialog, which is unfortunate given the many good performances this game does have. Frequently was Batman’s cape also clipping through the rest of his body, and during combat were enemies flying across the screen after being hit. While for the most part, everything about this game would indicate it’s from the Arkham series, there’s a distinct lack of polish and care that we normally see. The huge bridge connecting the two maps that’s a pain to cross, unintended collisions with the geometry of the floor, and recycling much of Arkham City’s map just further indicate how little resources this game had, likely in anticipation of Arkham Knight a few years later. Everything about this game is just not as good as the rest in its series, so if you really want to play it, I’d just recommend playing Arkham City with a Christmas music playing in the background.
Not as well done as the other Arkham games, feels rushed, could have had better writing in places. If you want more Batman however good game.
20 bucks for this game is fine. Fine is a completely honest description.
For 20 bucks you will get a story 8-10 hours in length that features some genuinely fun boss fights and some very nicely done narrative sequences. I think the campaign is too short, it felt like it was over as soon as things started getting truly exciting.
The rest of the experience is another several hours of fetch questing. If you truly just adore this game at that point, then maybe you'll have the want to go through it all, but I genuinely didn't. One hour into said fetch questing had me ready to put the game down.
Ultimately I had a significantly better experience with Arkham City or Arkham Knight. Both of those games are 10/10 experiences and give you so much more to do - and will also continue to be fun and enjoyable while you do so. I truly wish I could say the same about Arkham Origins. I still recommend this game for the story itself, but the overworld became truly uninteresting after the story was done.
I love this game. Arkham knight was better. Final fights were underwhelming, but still cool. The people that talk trash on either game look at the games through nostalgia rather than being objective. I'm a newer gamer that's mostly played aaa titles and these games with graphics mods hold up to any new aaa title. Just because the games didn't do anything ground breaking for you at time of release doesn't mean that they're bad games or not as good as others. Both titles are two of the best games that I've ever played. In this game, I absolutely love the psychedelic horror sequences (hotel). The finer points of these games, I've never experienced in any other medium. A+++
poop butt and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the History of the family and family guy from my family and family and the History and the interview questions that are not good to me from all of that I loved you and your parents and me and my close friends got into a heated pool in a small village in the kingdom of America but the same is the way you want me and you will uncommonly ask questions about it to me from your family guy
This game is very underrated. I do recommend playing if you're new to the Arkham Series. I would recommend going in story order, but you can do whatever order you'd like. Here is the order I would recommend if you want story.
Arkham Origins -> Arkham Asylum -> Arkham City -> Arkham Knight
This is personally my favorite Arkham game. Not because of the game play, the story, or the 'multiplayer'(has been shut down, only single player remains). I think it was the raw origins for Batman and his villains (pun intended). This game provided lore/backstory for Batman that the other Arkham games didn't provide. I think WB Montreal did a decent job with this title. The DLC for game is heart wrenching, but that's just how it goes for Mr. Freeze.
game ini penuh tantangan dan game yang saya mainkan ini berdasarkan cerita film
This game is a very good arkham game, but if you are starting the arkham games then get arkham knight.
probably the second best arkham game behind knight. roger craig's smith batman is probably the only one that could ever come close to kevin conroy. troy baker also offers an extremely interesting take on joker with his performance in this game -- portraying a younger and less stable joker. when he has outbursts in this game its actually frightening and thats largely due to baker's incredible performance. it could never surpass mark hamill's joker, but its the only one ive seen thats gotten close. overall this is easily the most overhated arkham game and i do not understand how its predecessors city and asylum overshadow it so much.
