As of December 4, 2016, the online services portion of Batman: Arkham Origins has been retired. We thank those that have joined us to battle. The Single player campaign may still be played and enjoyed offline. For any questions relating to Batman: Arkham Origins, please contact WB Games customer service.
Batman™: Arkham Origins is the next installment in the blockbuster Batman: Arkham videogame franchise. Developed by WB Games Montréal, the game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight.
Key Features:
The Arkham Story Begins: Batman: Arkham Origins features a pivotal tale set on Christmas Eve where Batman is hunted by eight of the deadliest assassins from the DC Comics Universe. Players become an early-career Batman as he encounters for the first time many of the characters that shape his future.
Enhanced Detective Mode: Think like Batman with an all-new Case File system that allows players to analyze seemingly impossible-to-solve crime reconstructions in real time. Combining Batman’s cowl sensors with the Batcomputer, players can digitally recreate crimes and study detailed simulation of the act as it happened.
Gotham City will learn to fear Batman: Take back the sprawling streets of Gotham years before its transformation into Arkham City. Glide above or battle your way through new and ever more dangerous districts in the quest for justice. Prevent crimes in progress, take down gangs of violent new criminals and explore deadly new locations, from the impoverished streets to the penthouses of Gotham’s wealthy.
Gotham’s Most Wanted: The city streets are filled with more than just Black Mask’s assassins. Locate and take down Gotham’s most violent and dangerous criminals to earn unique upgrades.
Lethal New Enemies: Fight new foes such as the Armored Enforcer, the Martial Artist and more – each of which challenge players to approach Batman’s FreeFlow Combat scenarios in different ways. Classic FreeFlow combat is expanded with every new opponent – and with Batman’s abilities to engage them.
New Gadgets: Utilize Batman’s signature gadgets or take advantage of powerful new additions such as the Remote Claw, the Concussion Detonator and more. Use the Remote Claw to create new routes by deploying strategic tightropes or directly attack enemies by stringing them up from vantage points. Ready the Concussion Detonator to stun and disorient groups of opponents in close combat.
New and Familiar Characters: Experience a fresh take on iconic Batman characters including Black Mask, Penguin, Deathstroke, Bane, Deadshot, Anarky, Captain Gordon, The Joker, Copperhead, Firefly and others yet to be revealed.

Nice action game.
Not a masterpiece, but surely enjoyable
For a filler title done by a B-team studio, it's amazing. Comparing to the other Arkham games, best boss fights hands down, and second-best story out of the other 3 and is totally worth it if you enjoyed Asylum and City. It will feel like a step back though if you go from Knight to Origins, but that's because Origins came first.
yesssssssss i love batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm not really a HUGE huge fan of da arkham series tho, da writin sometimes feels iffy cuz sometimes it sets somethin interestin but doesn't really follow up on it a lot so idk, but whateva it was fun to play through and da situations are cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not as good as Arkham City. Somehow it's a slight downgrade technically. Gameplay wise it feels kind of like a beta version of Arkham City which is strange because this game came after. My biggest let down is how there are now "fake doors" (doors which are not actually doors) and a lot of invisible walls blocking you from places which seem accessible but are not supposed to be. In the earlier games they even had the in-game excuse of old brittle walls where you could not grapple. Here it's just like "Nope, you can't grapple there. Nope, you can't go there. No, that door is just there for decoration."
However, it's still a great game worth playing for the general atmosphere and for allowing you to be Batman for just a little bit longer.
Eh, don't play unless you're either: diehard batman fan or want to play all arkham games. The game kinda falls on both the gameplay and the story.
From a gameplay pov this literally could've been arkham city dlc, the gameplay is 99% the same. The open world-ness is a waste of time and unlocking the waypoints takes more energy than just powering through the game. Side quests are very lame and worth skipping outside of like 1-2 of them.
Story was okay until the "twist". Idk why they always have to make a batman origins story feature that guy. They basically steal the spotlight and tell you you wasted your time the first half of the game. Then it devolves into arkham asylum hulk enemies and very similar final boss. Lame.
It is a good game because of the story and it is really good to learn about how the villains originated and what their motifs are, and that is all pretty cool but the combat is tricky at first but it does grow on you after playing the game for a while. There are a couple of bad things about the game though and the thing i am most disappointed at is the stealth mechanics because they aren't nearly as good as the other Arkham games but leaving on a high note the Cold Cold Heart DLC is very good due to how short and sweet it is when explaining the origins of Mr Freeze. 7.3/10
As per my personal experience, I love this game. Being in the boots of the dark knight, fighting bad guys and the villain bosses, a lot of side missions and its an open world game which is another reason this game is a load of fun. After all these years, this game still holds its value. I would recommend this game to each & every gamer out there.
Out of all of the Arkham games, I put Origins at my favorite overall, favorite world, 2nd favorite combat (of course my favorite going to Knight), my favorite art direction, my favorite story, favorite bosses, it's just so good. Please play it if you haven't already, the ending is worth getting to at least once. The combat feels great and responsive, and the shockgloves are genuinely underrated. Sure they make combat easier, but the game has the 2nd most varied amount of enemies, with Knight having faster combat, it was the next best thing. It comes late into the game, like the 3/4 mark, if not later. It really doesn't ruin combat at all. The cutscenes, while not going above 30 FPS, still look visually great today. It's seriously still underrated, as I see so many people complain about it, when in my humble opinion, it's the best in the franchise. It makes you feel like the shadows, like a predator ready to take out hundreds of unsuspecting thugs whenever you want. There's so much I could say, but just go experience it for yourself. The game often drops down to $4, sometimes even $2 so pick it up, it's a great game to play around the holidays, and the setpieces will keep you coming back every year.
i stronglly recommend anyone who is playing batman for first time play this game as your first game
Hella fun Christmas story. I love the voice actor for Batman in this, amazing performance, conveys all the rage and inexperience of a younger bat. I definitely liked the story a lot except for a few moments
like Alfred stopping you from leaving right after he gave you a new gadget . I really like the setup of multiple assassins hunting you even though we know that nothing is gonna build off of it as this is a prequel to Rocksteady's Arkham. The atmosphere is really cool (no pun intended). I maybe in the minority here but I prefer this over Arkham City.
Riddler is absolute lunacy in this, infuriating even the data pack at the top floor of Gotham Royal will haunt me forever . Also, you cannot 100% this game since the multiplayer servers were shut down years ago, I wish they would remove those achievements.
Better than I expected. Baker did a damn good Hamill impression, and Smith is a pretty good Batman. Story was a fun ride, gameplay is the same goodness as Arkham City. If you aren't burnt out on the series' gameplay, it's definitely worth the 5 bucks on sale. Best boss fights in the series.
If you have a lot of FPS drops, try just alt+tabbing out and back in the game. Worked for me.

I'd been meaning to play Arkham Origins for some time, it's the only one that hasn't been re-released and my perception of public opinion was that this game is an unwanted child a Victorian parent would keep locked in the attic. Playing it on my Steam Deck, I can confirm that (1) it does function most of the time and (2) if I were a Victorian parent and the Arkham games were my children, Arkham Origins would indeed be kept in the attic.
Almost all of the problems in this game can be attributed to WB Games taking over development responsibilities so Rocksteady Studios could work on Arkham Knight, and it shows. Writing, visual design, UI/UX design, and animations all took a hit even compared to Arkham City, to the point where not even the spooky Christmas vibes with a dramatic version of “Carol of the Bells” constantly playing could improve this game.
Arkham Origins tells the story of an angry, unrefined Batman developing his relationship with Jim Gordon in a reskinned Arkham City. The concept of this story is well-crafted, and I loved how it pulled from the Year One, The Man Who Laughs, and The Long Halloween comics. However, there are simply too many villains that the story gets muddled. The Joker is well written and Troy Baker’s performance is one of my favorites, but he’s not in the story enough. “It would be so easy if you were all I wanted,” the Joker says, despite being the one to put out a hit on Batman. Bane is also menacing as a secondary antagonist, but is inconsistent with what he wants. He wants to kill Batman, and almost has him, but decides to (1) withhold Batman’s secret identity from the public and (2) takes the TN-1 formula when he’s already winning. This version of Bane seems too intelligent and cunning for someone who would risk the side effects of TN-1.
Jim Gordon is done as best as he could be, although how he ages between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum is crazy. He has a conflicting line in the final cutscene where he wonders why he didn’t arrest Batman, like it was a possibility while Batman was escaping when Gordon wasn’t looking. Arkham Origins also takes an interesting look at the role of the police in Gotham City, and Batman’s extralegal status as a vigilante. Absolutely nothing is done with either- Barbara Gordon calls out Jim for his participation in a systemically corrupt place of capital violence, but because he’s “one of the good ones” he can clean up the department, as if suddenly the GCPD is now no longer able to be systemically corrupt. Both Jim and Anarky call out Batman on his operation outside the law, and both have a point, but it’s immediately moot because Anarky is trying to blow up a bunch of buildings and Batman can just sneak away from Jim. There’s many, many interesting opportunities to explore Batman’s character and what he should mean in relation to policing, but nothing is followed through on.
Regarding animations, Arkham Origins has the sloppiest in the series. Non-cinematic cutscenes have uneven and generic mouth-syncing with the dialog, which is unfortunate given the many good performances this game does have. Frequently was Batman’s cape also clipping through the rest of his body, and during combat were enemies flying across the screen after being hit. While for the most part, everything about this game would indicate it’s from the Arkham series, there’s a distinct lack of polish and care that we normally see. The huge bridge connecting the two maps that’s a pain to cross, unintended collisions with the geometry of the floor, and recycling much of Arkham City’s map just further indicate how little resources this game had, likely in anticipation of Arkham Knight a few years later. Everything about this game is just not as good as the rest in its series, so if you really want to play it, I’d just recommend playing Arkham City with a Christmas music playing in the background.
Not as well done as the other Arkham games, feels rushed, could have had better writing in places. If you want more Batman however good game.
20 bucks for this game is fine. Fine is a completely honest description.
For 20 bucks you will get a story 8-10 hours in length that features some genuinely fun boss fights and some very nicely done narrative sequences. I think the campaign is too short, it felt like it was over as soon as things started getting truly exciting.
The rest of the experience is another several hours of fetch questing. If you truly just adore this game at that point, then maybe you'll have the want to go through it all, but I genuinely didn't. One hour into said fetch questing had me ready to put the game down.
Ultimately I had a significantly better experience with Arkham City or Arkham Knight. Both of those games are 10/10 experiences and give you so much more to do - and will also continue to be fun and enjoyable while you do so. I truly wish I could say the same about Arkham Origins. I still recommend this game for the story itself, but the overworld became truly uninteresting after the story was done.
I love this game. Arkham knight was better. Final fights were underwhelming, but still cool. The people that talk trash on either game look at the games through nostalgia rather than being objective. I'm a newer gamer that's mostly played aaa titles and these games with graphics mods hold up to any new aaa title. Just because the games didn't do anything ground breaking for you at time of release doesn't mean that they're bad games or not as good as others. Both titles are two of the best games that I've ever played. In this game, I absolutely love the psychedelic horror sequences (hotel). The finer points of these games, I've never experienced in any other medium. A+++
poop butt and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the Garys and the History of the family and family guy from my family and family and the History and the interview questions that are not good to me from all of that I loved you and your parents and me and my close friends got into a heated pool in a small village in the kingdom of America but the same is the way you want me and you will uncommonly ask questions about it to me from your family guy
This game is very underrated. I do recommend playing if you're new to the Arkham Series. I would recommend going in story order, but you can do whatever order you'd like. Here is the order I would recommend if you want story.
Arkham Origins -> Arkham Asylum -> Arkham City -> Arkham Knight
This is personally my favorite Arkham game. Not because of the game play, the story, or the 'multiplayer'(has been shut down, only single player remains). I think it was the raw origins for Batman and his villains (pun intended). This game provided lore/backstory for Batman that the other Arkham games didn't provide. I think WB Montreal did a decent job with this title. The DLC for game is heart wrenching, but that's just how it goes for Mr. Freeze.
game ini penuh tantangan dan game yang saya mainkan ini berdasarkan cerita film
This game is a very good arkham game, but if you are starting the arkham games then get arkham knight.
probably the second best arkham game behind knight. roger craig's smith batman is probably the only one that could ever come close to kevin conroy. troy baker also offers an extremely interesting take on joker with his performance in this game -- portraying a younger and less stable joker. when he has outbursts in this game its actually frightening and thats largely due to baker's incredible performance. it could never surpass mark hamill's joker, but its the only one ive seen thats gotten close. overall this is easily the most overhated arkham game and i do not understand how its predecessors city and asylum overshadow it so much.
I'd give it a 6/10. Once you start the NG+ it quickly goes from enjoyable to annoying. After one play through you're expected to have all enemy moves memorized in order to counter perfectly. Finally, almost impossible to receive 100% achieve UNLESS you want to purchase DLC AND find some people in the discord chat room still active
A classic 3rd person rpg game. It's a pretty old game; but it is still tremendous fun to play.
very buggy, many crashes, stuck in wall, long loading times.
they couldnt care less about testing it.
this game is everything gang if you think of playing this DO IT the story and gameplay is just amazing + its really really underrated like the cutscenes alone make you kick your feet
I want to love this game but it's so rough to play, I can't speak for others but I knew this game was notoriously buggy, but it got to the point where I just can't enjoy the game due to them. I really like where the story goes even though the open world is pretty bland in comparison to City imo, and I want to continue it- but genuinely for some reason there are sections that you literally need to go through to progress but the collision of certain humps from the floor prevent you from walking through a hallway as if there was an invisible wall, and I'd spend three minutes trying to get through until I was basically just allowed to finally pass for god knows what reason... Happened in the hotel and then the sewers and I just decided to stop playing when trying to get to the morgue after to the aforementioned bug. It was basically the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
The other bugs to note that I was experiencing are enemies that resurrect after completely being knocked out, batman teleporting around while fighting, infinitely doing the starting gliding animation, grapple boost deciding not to work randomly, critical hits seemingly not registering because I actually like playing m+kb, needing to interrogate a person twice because for some reason it wouldn't update anything in regards to progression in a side mission, unresponsive counters, etc...
I don't consider myself an impatient guy when it comes to flaws in games, I especially wanted to replay the Arkham games and achievement hunt all of them (which I did for Asylum and City, haven't gotten around to picking up knight yet), but I remember not finishing origins years ago because I got softlocked and my save corrupted. I wanted to give it another chance since I hear people find it underrated, but the game just frustrates me too much, I also just feel like the combat doesn't feel as smooth either regardless of bugs.
I tried a community patch from nexus mods that supposedly restored cut content and fixed bugs but I couldn't notice any actual improvement and I couldn't find any real documentation that it actually fixes any base game bugs either. I'm not inexperienced with tinkering with files and such either but seemingly whatever I tried to do to actually increase playability just wasn't enough.
It's kinda hard for me to say I don't recommend the game, really. That's once again just an issue with steam only having yes or no. The reality is I find this game not that bad and I don't blame anyone who wants to try it, but it's a play at your own risk kinda deal cus you're spending money to play a broken game. I'm not too sure how much better the console experience exactly is. I've also read that supposedly people don't even experience bugs but Idk that just seems so far-fetched to me.
Unfortunately, Batman: Arkham Origins is easily the worst of the Arkham series. This game takes place before the events of Arkham Asylum, when no one knows who Batman is. This is a cool concept that is really interesting in the beginning, but within a couple of hours of playtime this dynamic feels forgotten, and it turns into just another Batman game. The game starts off with the antagonist being Black Mask, but then, naturally, pivots to the Joker. The Batman universe has a lot of pretty interesting villains, but the Arkham series is incapable of really exploring them at all, and always, without fail, goes back to the Joker being the main villain. This is especially an issue with this game, because his redesign along with him being voiced by Troy Baker instead of Mark Hamill makes him feel off and uninteresting. Traversal in this game is incredibly slow and boring compared to the others, and I found myself just wanting to fast travel the whole time. The combat is still pretty fun here, and the game still looks great. Ultimately, this game isn't terrible, but it's another Batman game, and it doesn't do anything better than the main Arkham trilogy
one of the most underrated games i've played, very nostalgic game that i played literally a decade ago in my dads steam profile when i was 6-7, very good combat system and amazing cutscenes. 9/10 I recommend but i also suggest to play arkham asylum and arkham city first.
10/10 game, second time i finished, first was when i was a teenager, now a old man beating this game again. hope all the series get a remaster even if not needed.
It's so underrated. Best Arkham game of the entire series. Played (mostly) through all of the series and have seen enough. This is amazing. Though the ending fight with bane scared the beans out of me.
The game isn’t working properly and the fight with Deathstroke is bugged — it’s impossible to get past it.
I regret buying this game, and now I can’t even get a refund.
best Batman game out of the series, you can hate but playing as a young Bruce Wa..... i mean Young Batman is fun af. I will s**k you off, if you agree 👍
Amazing game, incredibly fun to play, I love it, the graphics are good and gameplay is awesome, I love the grappling hook move to pull in enemies, would 100% recommend this
Arkham Origins is a great game but not without its flaws. I ran into some bugs but nothing game breaking or severely frustrating. Nevertheless, Origins presents a great story that details a Batman less experienced with a lot of room for improvement and shows the begging of some iconic villains.
Arkham Origins has the best boss battles of the Arkham games (personal opinion) and connects pretty well with the main trilogy made by Rocksteady. If you're a fan of Batman in general, give this one a go.
Is it still fun in 2025? Yup!
I played the superior sequel, Arkham Knight (2015), before I played this one. Though 'Origins' is smaller and less polished, it hits many of the same buttons including great voice performances, fun action and stealth sequences, and the film-Batman-noir vibe is on point.
A few notable annoyances: Grapnel-hooking my way through Gotham, I often can't reach this ledge or that building as easily as I could in the sequel-- If I can get there at all. And while the game does offer scenarios for using stealth and gadgets in combat, it leans heavily on the old-fashioned fist fight. Every half hour or so it's time to brawl another dozen guys with baseball bats!
Still, I'm glad I dug deeper into the Arkham series. So far, 'Origins' is a fantastic game that wears its age well.
Might be a hot take but this is my favorite of the arkham games. the multiplayer is an underrated gem of an experience too. if you snoop around you can find communities to play it with. please give the arkham games, and this one especially, your time and attention.
The story is good, graphics are kinda okay, some of it are buggy. Overall it's a good prequel of the game. I'll give it 8/10 just because of those bugs. 3/4 of all the Arkham games. (last up Arkham Knight)
If you enjoy watching a blue hourglass just spin and never even be able to get into the main menu, this game is for you! I've tried EVERY fix in the book for this game and the closest I can get is to briefly be able to see the splash screen, before the endless hourglass takes over.
I'm using an RTX 2080 Ti on Windows 10. This game is NOT playable and shouldn't even be sold!
Though some of the Janky-ness of the gameplay are definitely there, the cinematic cut-scenes are beautiful, the story is near perfect, and the DLC (Cold, Cold Heart) is the best the entire Arkham Series has to offer. One of my favourite games of all time.
While this isn't viewed often as the highlight of the series, it is still a very fun action stealth game.
a very fun and really just another amazing game in the arkham series, i should warn, it has many glitches that i myself faced in the playthrough, usualy its nothing, mine had something that almost ruined the play through but luckly it didnt, keep in mind most of the glitches you would see people talking about online have been patches.
in short a very good game and really enjoyed it as a prequel
Started playing because I had played all the batman games except this.
Now after playing it is very underrated
It Isn't 'City' or 'Knight' but....
It doesn't have to be. The story is enjoyable, the voice cast is top-notch, and Gotham in the snow is very moody and thematic. Gameplay is the usual good stuff, minus the Kid Gloves. Play it, enjoy the villains, and don't sweat the continuity too much.
This game was very very good. This was the last Batman Arkham game I played. I think this game is very underrated. I do believe that it is probably the weakest of the Arkham series, but I still think it's a solid 8/10 game. I gotta say though, this game was actually very challenging. The boss fights were very hard when compared to the other Arkham games. Could be a skill issue on my part, but the other Arkham games were very easy for me. This one was a bit tough, but I think that made the game much better. I liked the added challenge. But if this is your first Arkham batman game, then I would say probably hold off on it and get more familiar with the other games first.
Its like second from the bottom of batman arkham games. Just image all the core things that rocksteady did well with Batman and all the things they didn't do every well. This game is the exact opposite and I dont really like it all that much. Im not a rocksteady simp, I personally dont care who makes it I just want a good Batman game. Not a fan of the level design, the combat, and the stealth that plays into those two. But the boss fights are much better than anything rocksteady did and the cinematics are pretty good too. You'll probably have a good time and might even be in the camp or it being your favorite one in the series. As for me... its ight
The black sheep of the Batman Arkham series. Sticks out like a sore thumb because of its diversion in its casting and direction, but is still absolutely worth playing.
Gameplay is basically the same as you'll find it in the other Arkham games, but the story offers something you don't see in a lot of other Batman stories: a younger, more brash version of Batman, which really makes for some interesting dialogue throughout the game, especially with Alfred.
If none of that interests you, Origins has the best boss fights in the series by far.
Can't speak on the online aspects but you can't even play it anymore anyway.
I get to beat the shit out of criminals dressed as a bat, easy 10/10
great game but u need a lot of patience as the game has so many bugs i had to restart it about 80 times if they fixed there bugs which probably wont happen it would be unreal
The game took me about 15 hours of play time and it was great.
It wasn't as revolutionary as the first two for obvious reasons but it builds on both of them very well.
It is essentially a smooth Arkham city experience where everything flows like melted butter.
If this is the first one you play then it is definitely a 10/10 but if it is the 3rd installment you're playing then it is closer to an 8/10.
Either way for less than $5, it is a perfect 10/10 for me.
