Описание

A long, long time ago there was an elf who lived in a forest. He liked to help all the animals. One day all the forest's inhabitants disappeared. The elf went to Professor Madhouse's home for help because the professor was known for taking care of the creatures of the forest. But after reaching his home, the elf discovered that since his last visit the professor had changed a lot, and what's more - that he is the one who imprisoned the animals! The elf decides to release them all and find out why the professor turned evil.

Professor Madhouse is an adventurous game of logic for young children. By controlling a small dwarf, the player explores various rooms of a nutty professor's home with the goal of releasing the animals the professor kidnapped from the forest. While exploring and solving puzzles, the elf must be careful not to make too much noise, for this causes the Professor to appear and the player must then restart the current level.

The fairy-tale style graphics seem like they’re straight from a children's picture book. The locations and all the characters are hands drawn to create a wonderful fairy-tale atmosphere. Each animation was created with careful attention to detail and with the youngest audience in mind. Animations of the animals and the professor are designed to delight.

The locations were created for very young minds so the puzzles are easy to solve. Each puzzle is a separate story of a captured animal. One story is about a donkey running after a carrot and another about a raccoon whose fur has lost its color. Each stage is made to be fun for children.

No animal, elf, human or other creature suffered during the production of the game.

Features:
• Gameplay friendly for the youngest audiences
• Fairy-tale style, hand-drawn graphics
• Animations that make children smile
• Easy but interesting puzzles

Professor Madhouse is an extremely badly made mobile/Flash like 2D point and click puzzle game where you're presented with various screens and must solve the puzzles in each one... it's badly made, slapped together incompetently with Corona/Solar2D, barely works, and when it does, it's an incoherent and unenjoyable mess.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.

The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.

Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the video game toolset, Corona/Solar2D from CoronaLabs. This is a very poor quality toolset sometimes used by amateur/unskilled developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine.

This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).

Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Professor Madhouse" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

The game contains third party Corona libraries/packages, but the "developer" here hasn't credited the people who actually did the work for the game. In some cases this breaches the license agreement the developer signed for the use of those assets, which absolutely require proper crediting, license forwarding and attribution for the use of those packages. Worse, some of the assets are licensed under a NON-COMMERCIAL AGREEMENT, but the developer is violating those licenses FOR PROFIT. This is not just a contractual/license breach, in many jurisdictions this is a breach of criminal law. Claiming credit for the work of others as well as breaching software licenses and breaking the law is highly unethical.

Professor Madhouse is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam.

i found this game while sorting my collection, but don't recall buying it, I was probably drawn by the illustrations on the store page, where there is no indication of the huge amount of reading involved. I can't imagine which children's age group is targeted, as the very young would not know what actions to perform and would soon be bored by an adult's droning, expressionless reading, . Older children would be put off by the seemingly endless pages of text (''You expect me to read all that ?? I thought this was a game.'') and would probably leave the scene before the story began, while those well able to read and understand the intended humour, would find the game and story babyish. The latter includes me, who gave up on reaching the cottage.

I started this game with an open mind regardless of the negative reviews left here. That being said, I cannot recommend this game for children under the age of 12. The dialogue is too complex for "young children" but I understand the "cheeky" type story they were trying to go for. It is an incredible art style and very user-friendly for young children but the instructions aren't clear enough for beginners to video games. I feel as if this had been "voice-acted" instead of timed and click-through dialogue it may have gone over slightly better because there would be less for the children to take in. I really wish that I could have recommended this game, but I think it's pretty clear they entirely missed the mark for gearing toward "logic" for "young children".

It's horrible, and puzzles are fucking dull. It feels like the character is mentally challenged, if it's the case developer should point this out somewhere on store page because it's whole new level of challenge. Find on youtube and check how it moves, specially how it climbs the rope, you can wait all day for him to finally climb.

Puzzles with noise meter could be fun, but game mechanics make it irritating. This game needs a lot of work more to fix all the issues and make it enjoyable. It should be now in Early Access and under active development.

EDIT: Please, don't give this game to your children, before trying it yourself at least.
