American Truck Simulator

Love it, though I rage a lot on my trailer getting stuck on stuff....... anyways I highly recommend, it is very fun game!

SCS Software have excelled themselves yet again with another engaging truck simulator, this time, is the wilds of North America with its arid deserts, epic mountains and long highways that captivate and enthral you. This is just a fantastic experience and the love and passion the developer has for its chosen subject shows. 10/10 for me, everytime.

I've never driven in a game that felt so close to real life, the detail and world is honestly incredible and with a racing wheel / shifter it can entertain me for hours. Steam workshop is in the game so lots of free mods can easily be added to your game.

Great game .Have been waiting a very long time to get a pc and enjoy this game and was not let down. highly reccomend playing with wheel set up.

Played with both a Quest 2 and a Quest 3 over a Link cable. The Quest 3 experience is noticeably improved over the Quest 2. VR + steering wheel is truly the way to go for this game - you can shoulder check and take in the scenery as you drive in ways that you just can't on a monitor.

Now I've been thinking about writing a review for American Truck Simulator for quite some time. Ever since I started playing it a few years ago, I feel that SCS did a fine job developing this game and its associated DLCs. How good did it turn out? Let's find out:

Pros:
-The menu music
-The variety of trucks you can drive. My favorites are the International 9400 and Mack Pinnacle
-The route maps, which are filled with impressive scenery and some historical markers.
-The Driving Academy

Cons:
-The trains. Although the Amtrak trains and Big Boy in Cheyenne are praiseworthy (despite it not being this rusty in real life), the BNSF and UP trains were kinda disappointing. I can understand why this was done, but it just doesn't feel that authentic in my opinion
-The questionable fines for turning right on red. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's a bit of a head scratcher when it does
-Some Special Transport Missions, as I've occasionally had a hard time parking the truck upon arrival at my destination.

Small criticisms aside, this game is pretty enjoyable. From eye-catching scenery to accurate tractor-trailers, this game certainly deserves some recognition. Therefore, I rate this an 8/10.

I'm a trucker and i really enjoy this game. i really enjoy cruising around the small but remarkably accurate scaled down versions of familiar cities. the trucks are awesome and feel great. mods make the game sound much better. funny to get out of my semi truck and come home and drive around in a game.

I truly love this game. Its nice to just chill and drive and check out the sights. Plus the economy is totally unrealistic so your bank balance is always going up and damn does that ever feel good. Its nice to fantasize about putting in a days work and actually having something to show for it.

You can play with a controller but it really comes alive with a steering wheel and pedals with a stick shift.

It would be intimidating to come into it today with all the DLC but if you start with the base you wont even need the DLC right away so just add more states as you go slowly.

Incredible game. All the places I live are accurately represented. The amount of detail and effort that goes into this game is amazing. I am having the time of my life exploring the United States.

ATS is one of the best Simulator programs that I have ever played. It is extremley entertaining and I Will absolutely be recommending ATS to every and all of my friends and family.

The only thing about this game that isn't phenomenal is the DLC pricing scheme that forces players to spend hundreds of dollars to get the full version of a $5 base game.

Controls, needlessly complicated, very few on-screen reminders. Includes telling you how to adjust your mirrors and seat.
Tutorial, painfully wordy, for some reason feels the need to warn you it is a videogame and not training you to drive an actual truck.
Graphics, simulation options for your car and others, and gameplay elements, astoundingly detailed to an unbelievable extent.

I'm upvoting this not because this is good at being a game, but because it is good at being a simulator. Maybe the controls will grow on me eventually.

I never had the slightest interest in this game or any driving sim game of any kind. Now it's all I want to do is play this stupid thing. Darn you SCS for creating such a masterpiece.

After spending well over 100 hours on this game i can safely say that this game is that type of game where you can kick back, relax listen to some banger music and just cruise the roads. This game is not only relaxing but it makes you want to come back to it everyday. I highly recommend this game to anyone who just wants a good and relaxing sim where you dont have to worry about anything at all. In addition, if you do pick up this game and try it for yourself i highly recommend picking up the map DLC's that it has to offer as it gives you lots of content to play with and countless hours of more driving and cruising down america's roads.

I absolutely recommend this game. The game offers extensive roads especially if you bought some of the DLCs making the game more extensive. With the assistance of the Steam Workshop the game becomes more interesting and gives realism providing you a wonderful experience on the road. Overall playing this game while listening to music is a great way for me to relax and I would love to wait for other DLC maps that will make this game more enormous.

great game.well done. sucks it skipped my hometown but the rest is amazing.as a son of a truck driver...10/10 recomend. tons of free mods on steam,easy to use too. graphics are good too

wasn't sure about this game at first but it is fun when playing with others or if you just want to zone out. but i will say they need to add damage looks to the game or at least in there new one if they make a new one. with the DLC States that still are not out yet.... i hope that when tornado valley comes in that maybe i will have to outrun a tornado, that would be interesting.. and making it a little more open world would have been nice i like to cut corners and that invisible wall really hurts sometimes lol... overall a nice game.

Been playing for two days, I didn't expect the game to be so fun and relaxing, it was worth much more that what I paid. Would HIGHLY recommend, if you like driving sims and games similar to this. I will definitely be buying DLC.

This is a tough one for me. Overall I don't recommend the game but not because it's bad, buggy or difficult but because aside from a few cool moments this game gets boring real fast.

Take this with a grain of salt because I'm not really into sim driving, I played on a controller as well but I also got it on sale for under 2 dollars so.... yeah, I'm going to click recommend but only if you're into sim driving games.

Very fun and relaxing. I love driving cross country and this is awesome. Crank up "east bound and down" and put the pedal down!

This game is absolutely amazing besides the fact that it does appear as if it glitches a lot.

I recently downloaded this game, and I'm already at 95 hours. This game is just so fun, and realistic, and with the DLC'S and mods from the steam workshop, this game is almost like real life!
10/10 game.

The game is great, but the World of Truck support does not keep up. I tried to reset the password but it did not worked. I did not received the email. The support claimed everything is as it should be. I lost all the access to the World of Trucks and support is not responding anymore. Just deleting the e-mails without reading... Is sad that lazy support team brings down a good game...

Really enjoyed this game for a long time. I was looking forward to playing Missouri.

However, the devs absolutely nuked the controller scheme from what it had been for years.

No, I am not going to go in and try to re-program everything back to what I was used to.

Not gonna lie, This is a well realistic Truck sim game, same gose for ETS2, i do recomend it to all who wants to try.

This Is Most good driving simiulator i have ever played. not going old always updating with new world

its so much fun you can be a sane person and drive with the laws. Or you can be like me INSANE. You can drift trucks without trailers. go 100 in a 65 zone. flip cars over by crashing head on into them its a great time. I suggest this game so much.

Who knew that driving a tractor trailer around would be so fun. 10/10 almost 20 hours in a day and a half. It's FUN.

I've only had it for two day's but i easily put 13 hours of game play on it. its so much fun I never would have expected i would love a trucking sim so much. when i mostly play puzzle and rpg's

This game is genuinly just a work of art. The scenery, designs, everything. It grasps you away from the vizualization that this is a trucking game. Would definetly reccommend.

Great game 10/10, can get the tiniest bit boring after playing for a while, but it is great.

this game has been great for learning how to drive a truck. i got this game to help me with my CDL training and i now find myself playing for fun. its very realistic and the bad AI drivers are just like the ones on the road. it made passing my test so much easier. for sure a recomendation of mine.

It is fun driving the trucks. Only problem AI traffic does not you to get to the delivery without damage to truck, trailer or cargo.

Fun All around Better with mods Money and Xp are bad but the game is fun i just started and cant stop. HELP .

Love this game but honestly becomes unplayable after you unlock longer drives as the ai traffic will try to run you off of the road constantly. If not constantly, it's going to happen within the last hour of your 32 hr drive, making all your progress worthless. It's not even avoidable, they love to do it when you are JUST about to pass them, unable to slow down, and unable to move to a different lane because the only other lane is the ONE THEIR COMING FROM. Also two hours isnt nearly enough time for a refund? That's quite literally just a player's first run.

It's the kind of game where you either get it or you don't. If you like the idea of trucking around (most) of the US, then then this game is for you. If you don't, then why are you even looking at reviews for this game?

Game has an excellent, developer supported, mod community, so if there's something you don't like or something you think is missing, chances are, there's a mod either on the workshop or on the forums that will fix your concern.

The DLC's for what you get are reasonably priced. Some of the smaller states are a tad pricey, but there's sales all the time so you can just pick up a bundle at a reduced cost.

Anyway, I've rambled on enough. If you like it, buy it. The 20 dollar (or less) barrier to entry is ridiculously cheap considering how many hours of enjoyment you'll likely get out of this game.

This is a good game if you like trucks and driving them but its a bit grindy and occasionally buggy. Needs more content and some of it shouldn't be locked behind a DLC paywall.

Great gameplay! Controls are easy to learn and modify. The scenery is done very nicely. The attention to detail is amazing.

This is a nice relaxing simulator, best played with a wheel, pedals with clutch and gear shift. I would also recommend a head tracker (although you don't require one), which makes it easier to change lanes and turn corners, The simulator has nice scenery with a real world feel. The American Trucker sim, unfortunately, has no cab overs, only conventional cabs, but there is enough variety and accessories to kit out your trucks. I also recommend purchasing this sim in a package, which gives you a few more states to roam around. Very enjoyable.
