I love the game, a good truck driving sim with business running too. There are other sims but this seems to have a good mix of weather and conditions.
The bad, graphics look a little old now but it moves well, handling well and the programs never crashed.
The othet bad, it takes 40 Gb of hard drive space.
it had potential... but just like every other company that tries to compete with ets and ats... its just a disappointment
Bought this game when it first released with high hopes for a really decent trucking sim as I am a fan of many others.
Realised very quickly that it ran incredibly poorly and at the time steering wheel and controller support barely functioned if at all.
Thought no worries its got its issues, ill just let it sit for awhile and come back in a few months and hopefully it'll be sorted as the devs seem like the care about the game.
Came back several months later, now has steering wheel support, Awesome I thought. But game still runs like trash and looks just as bad.
No worries I know my pc is getting older maybe it just cant keep up anymore although still plays most games fine.
Several months later I buy a gaming laptop and thought great this would be a good time to play as its been long enough to fix the major bugs and now ive got the hardware.
Well guess what, still runs like crap, full of bugs, graphics are terrible and just an overall disappointment!
In the meantime they released a couple of DLCs and are happy to charge you for them despite not fixing the actual game.
-Game runs poorly
-Graphics are terrible unless maybe using a kickass gaming pc even then its mid tier graphics at best
-AI is a joke, c'mon euro truck 1 and the old farming sims had better AI (And that's after the devs of this game improved it considerably from launch)
-Controls are spongey at best with a controller or steering wheel
-The inventory management is ridiculously limited in the trucks with sleeper cabins
-Everything feels like its on rails, there is not much feedback to what your trucks doing
-Mirrors are basically a pixelated mess, good luck seeing anything properly
-Map looks big but its really not that big and vast areas of nothingness. And yes I understand its supposed to barren in areas and some games can do it and some cant.
Driving across a vast distance is like driving a truck down a poorly drawn road with grass textures that are painted on for the most part and tree's that are not rendered correctly.
-The map UI and usability are a joke when trying to select anything on controller or using mouse and keyboard
Absolute disappoint as the concept and potential for this game is brilliant and it could of been something great to sit along side Euro truck, Farming Sim and the like with its own special place with some uniqueness.
I do not recommend and if I had done the smart thing I would have refunded when I still had the chance and not given this Developer the benefit of the doubt as now my hours are too high for a refund.
extremely broken
really disappointed, had high hopes for this game and brushed off a ton of bugs and glitches but theres so many its basically unplayable, my last straw at tolerating these glitches was when i was dropping off a trailer backing it in and then my truck flew and my cargo was destroyed, not to mention horrible driving and steering physics, faulty controls, shitty gearbox for pc and controller and so much more, mind you i've only played this game for a day and a half and discovered more glitches then i have in any other game. Its really sad because i think this game had a lot of potential as both an open world survival and driving game, will not be reinstalling anytime soon

I was pleasantly surprised by how immersive this game can be. I play ATS and ETS and love them but wanted to try this with its interactive features: maintaining your truck, shopping and keeping stock of things for winter etc. Also wanted to try the ice roads. Although graphically it isn't at the level of the other two, the devs have put a lot of thought and time into this game. Using a steering wheel, the feedback is nice and firm and the steering feels natural. I hardly had to mess with settings to fine tune it. The game doesn't support track IR yet but with the unobtrusive virtual mirrors you can enable and disable easily, I didn't miss as much as I thought. The different camera angles are pretty good too. The AI drivers are pretty terrible though and will slam into you, but it is fun to see them spin out as you whirl around to avoid them.
Improvements I hope to see:
-Improved shifter compatibility: My Eaton Fuller range splitter shift knob isn't recognized by the game. It is a separate USB
device but although my Thrustmaster H shifter is a separate USB device as well, it does recognize that
-The addition of head tracking
-Improved AI logic, where they stop when coming out of a side street instead of careening into the side of your rig and damaging your load (it is okay if they still screw up sometimes though- for realism!). In the winter the AI drives as if it is dry pavement. They should slow down and slip and slide more, get stuck etc.
-Rework the issue where you are fined when an AI driver slams into you and it is not your fault. That has been mentioned previously a while ago but hasn't been addressed
Scenery pop in is very late even though I have it set high. Vegetation will pop in just in front of my truck sometimes. It may be my video card though. I tried it on two laptops running Nvidia cards and it ran better. My rig is runs an AMD Radeon
Over all I think it's a great game and really enjoy it. Well done Road Studio 👍
I do like some of the life simulator aspects of the game like truck maintenance, food, shopping, things like that. But for it being Alaskan, it has far too much of a European vibe to it. 14 speed and 16 speed transmissions? Not in the US. Not like that. I like the ability to get out of the truck and to get into the sleeper so you can park and keep the truck running and sleep in the truck like you would in real life. Outside of that, if you want an actual truck sim experience, just go get American Truck Simulator.
nice game but you cant access the savegame files and delete them or create a new one where if you need to start over you cant and you cant use the same name it is stupid i dont recommend this game
Since the game has been updated, I will change my original negative opinion of the game into a positive. But at tentative positive. 6/10
Hi, ok so people might like this game and i surely like it too, but as a senior Euro truck 2 and American truck Simulator player i kinda feel some dissappointment in me, the graphics although set on epic mode still look like you're inside one or the other cartoon movie, Steering the truck with a keyboard is hell the steering is way to rough in first person mode, the gear changing on automatic mode is like u just need to keep putting the foot on the throttle or u eventually will stall still again, meaning the autobrake is way to rough, driving doesn't give me the feeling of driving a truck but more like sailing a boat through rough seas, if i need to take many curves i become seasick and dizzy same when out of the truck moving and looking around with ur avatar i really need to do that slow to avoid becoming dizzy maybe implenting a third person view on that might work, but that might be a personal issue of me getting older lol, the things u need to do if not driving around is kinda fun and gives it a nice new touch on this simulator game, buy food cook eat to survive actions u need to do before able to drive is nice but the driving could use some serious rework, building ur HQ and everything u need kinda nice indeed but i think it is fair to say that the makers of this game can learn a thing or two from the other truck sims when it comes up to driving around that is, but hey u gotta start somewhere, the game has lots of potential but i'm not gonna bother to buy dlc and expansion before they did some serious rework on driving that truck in a more descent way, i surely will fiddle around a bit with the settings but not sure if that is gonna be a lot of help when it comes up to using a keyboard to play this game, also the keybindings not always work, i'm using an azerty keyboard and i've tried to set stepping foreward with ur character on the Z key but for some weird reason in game it doesn't work and i need to use the A key, but like said u've gotta start somewhere but i surely do hope they will try to improve steering that truck with a keyboard, u want a challenge well it is a challenge to play the game but not one that gives me that old driving a truck simulator experience .... i do love and liked hearing Lissa Kelly's voice in the intro movie lol .... Update : after playing a while longer i stumbled upon some other issues :
- hazard blinkers don't work regardless what key u're trying to use
- cabine top lichts after purchased don't light up
- high beamers on bull bar not working
- made some camera shots from points of interest but no where a sign of completion
about this certain points of interest u toke a shot from
- Long distance sandy roads could use some american coffee shops on the way to
replenish ur energy now and then taking an 8 hour nap ain't gonna do it if u got a 6
hour time deadline...
- being fined for some ai traffic that hits u in the back should not happen you're driving a
truck not a race car, why am i being fined for some one else hitting me when climbing
hills ...
- more space on truck to put tools in so they don't keep filling inventory would be nice
also...
I mean seriously, they should give this game away for free in stade of asking real money for it to buy, or sell it to another developer if ur low on budget so they can make this game playable on his full potential, cause now it ain't finished at all such a shame really....
ATS is a good experience, however this brings something different to the table, wish there was more content and refinement with the bugs, however I say its a pretty decent game, if you are not expecting AAA :)
i love every thing
This game role play is good. but the graphic is completely broken. they are full of glitch , lagging and also full of terrain pop up which affect driving expedience as well. Which is really serious is , the developer of this game doesn't giving any feedback. and they just mute customer's complaint. so despite of role pay thing rest are completely broken

im doing a job but the map has broken and sent me in the complete wrong way and i cant find the drop off point so im stuck and cant play the game eney more till thay fix it or give me a refund but thay refused to refund the game so heres a bad review for you

it should bin a dlc for trucking sim not a new game
This game is quite bad. It looked good, however the graphics are bad. The game jumps at times and it needs to be optimised. This is just a game where developers wanted to make as much out of it as they can without doing very little work. This game is no longer updated and it is a waste of money. Do not buy this game. American Truck Sim or Euro Truck Sim is much better in terms of graphics, dlc's and they are both still being updated.

I love this game. The Developer keeps updating it and it keeps getting better and better. No its not ATS or ETS2 but if you give it a fair chance you will have a new favorite game too.
The truck driving is shit, the controls feel like your driving a sports car with no grip or traction, Graphics even on the highest settings look so bad, like the game was made for mobile
I think it has a lot of potential to be really good. There is a bunch of small things that they can keep improving but so far its not bad.
Probably the worst game I've played in the last 20 years. No, definitely the worst. The graphics are at the level of games from Windows 95, the controls are perhaps from 2000. The hardware requirements are high, but the result is not worth it. It could have been a fun game about life in the harsh wilderness, but it's high school homework. Sad.

This game has a lot of potential! When I bought this game it was great but it becomes so repetitive. I love the map scale, the vehicles and the customization options. The AI traffic could use some work. They'll just hit you even if they have enough distance to stop/yield. The UI could also use some work as well. It's not a deal breaker for me but most games i play that measures character stats (ie.; health, fuel, hunger, etc) use bars. I find it hard to know how much fuel to put in because I have no info on how much fuel the truck takes. Like i said, not a deal breaker, I just like to manage my vehicle and money by knowing the details. I do love how this game has a detail that American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 are missing that the community has been wanting forever; The ability to stop and sleep anywhere. I do recommend this game for others. If it was based on a star system 0-5, I would give this a solid 3 Stars (Needs Improvement). I wouldn't recommend something that is under 3 Stars. As stated before this game has potential and I hope the devs are listening to the community.

After playing truck simulator games for many years it is a nice change. Definitely a learning curve but all games have that. I like the detail involved in this game. Not just driving but also preparation for driving as well and some role playing also.Good game!

This game was released full of bugs, and it's been months without a meaningful update. Players are still expecting the game to be fixed, considering we paid expecting a polished experience with only minor issues. But instead of addressing questions about updates professionally, the developers told us ‘moaning won’t fix anything,’ which feels dismissive and disrespectful.
They decided to rush for a console lunch instead of fixing the game on pc first, only for money reasons.
It’s frustrating that we paid for a game expecting it to work and have since received only small, ineffective patches. Until they truly commit to fixing these issues (if they ever do), my review will stay the same.

Garbage. It is a driving game, that is its worst feature. Controller? Four! different modes, Alaskan, American, Controller A and Controller B. Did anyone test these? Who were the testers? NONE of them are fit for purpose. Too sensitive? Why not just divide the input from the controller by a user input factor? divide by 100, 50 20, what ever suits you sir. Or increase the steps in game so that a small nudge on the steering is a small nudge on the truck. I bought it on sale and it is still a bad buy.

Oh i will use my wheel. I got to download some Logitect spyware to interface with my wheel, that has native support. Why?
Does this game support VR? No? Then why is my VR headset starting automatically when firing this up? And if I kill the headset, the GAME CLOSES! I can only use this if I am happy running my VR headset and not using it, or unplugging it.
And then there is the game play. What is the point of the gameplay features if driving the truck is so tedious? I have not got to winter and dread to think what it might be like driving there. Making the driving an aspect of the difficulty is childish at best. The driving controls should be fixed. Then the game can be assessed. I imaging with the sale a whole raft of new users bought the game but how many are using it a week later? A Cash grab before abandoning the game? Good luck to those that like this, I have not got time to waste on such garbage.

So I kinda stopped playing this game because my truck got stuck in the air after at the home base and I figured I'd write a review. Long story short we all know the graphics are crap BUT if you move past that, the game is actually pretty great! They need to work out a lot of the issues it has "Kinda like a truck floating in the sky" which is a VERY common glitch and would be great to have licenced truck BUT I get it. Licensing and all that costs A LOT of money and the game would be more expensive. Also This is NOTHING like ATS, people need to stop comparing ATS to this because it's a totally different game. ATS you're the truck basically. In this one, you're a DRIVER actually surviving on the road. APPLES to ORANGES Comparison. OVERALL It's a great game BUT the kinks need to be worked out if they want people to buy and play this game, and graphics, I mean C-mon, we're almost 2025 here....

The game itself is great. It does not need to have the greatest graphics to be a good game. But there are a few things that grinds my gears.
Why cant I add oil if oil sump leaks? Thats what you do in th real world. The leak should be more and more and require you to add oil more often.
Why have they not fixed the AI yet? They crash into my trailer almost everytime i come to a stop. And I get fined.
Why are no police petroling the road?
Other than theese issues I have been enjoying the game alot. The devekopers can take this far and get a great game in the end :D
If you like ATS and ETS and you're looking to spend money this game might be for you. I've only played 6 hours of it but I've pretty much got the jest of it.
There's things I couldn't handle for example when you're connecting your air hose it's like being plugged into the matrix and seeing a recording of plugging in air hose than being ripped out of the matrix. like what just happened. Go play Derailed Valley to see how connections are suppose to look. I'd rather just hit the E button to quick connect everything.
when you open your hood to check things like oil or coolant you have to close the hood to get down get what you need and than open it back up. just open things shit if you leave the cap off the oil or radiator that'll be bad . if you're trying to make this a survival game eating candy bars isn't really my style.

So I've played quite a bit of this game since release I've tried it on my RTX 2080 8gb, it was running badly unoptimised and on my newest, latest graphics card the AMD RX 7800XT 16gb still runs badly. The developers I don't think can make this game any better i'm getting about 44fps lowest 33fps this game is all over the place plus full of tons of bugs at this very point I would just wait if they'll ever get this game running at 60fps.
very fun game love the open world where you can customize your character, buy food , and take pictures.
Let's get this out of the way first... Alaskan Road Truckers (ART) is not American/Euro Truck Simulator, nor does it try to be. As long as you go into it with that understanding, you won't be disappointed (too much). There are a lot of things this game does well. If you like simulators with elements of survival, you should try it.
The good:
-Seasons with their own weather patterns
-Truck handling/physics affected by rain/puddles/ice/snow
-Character vitals management system (you have to eat/drink, sleep, and ensure you're dressed warm or have the heater on inside the truck so you don't freeze to death)
-You can sleep in the sleeper of your truck anywhere you stop
-Headquarters customization/facilities options
-Survival/RPG elements
The bad:
-AI drivers... dumber than a sack of coal (if you stop and put your hazards on, someone will most likely run into the back of your trailer, damaging the load and reducing your payout; horrible driving- I have seen plenty of AI take turns at a super fast speed and crash out or slam into something when they see a cop and panic)
-Speed limits- there are speed limit signs all over and you often have sections of road where the limit transitions from 55mph to 25 mph and back to 55 mph within the span of 50 yards. That's not okay when you might have a cop sitting on the side of the road right past those signs and you don't have time to stop on a dime or drop your speed to match the new limit. Fines are proportional to how fast you were going over the limit. Even if there are no cops in sight and an AI driver runs into you, you will likely be fined for causing a collision.
-No cops patrolling the roads, only pulled over on the side manning speed traps
-Steering- super jerky and there are no options to disable auto re-centering
-Performance of the more expensive trucks- dealer description lists a truck as having 16 gears... well, the max on the best truck is 10. The RPMs rev out annoyingly and it seems like the wheels are spitting in place the whole time unless you start in 8th gear or higher.
-The amount of experience and pay you receive is abysmal in proportion to difficulty and distance traveled.
-Bugs/crashes- had one fatal error crash, had CB radio not allow me to call in someone to clear avalanches blocking the road, and had a trailer go to 0% health as soon as I hooked it up after accepting the job.
Ugh. Graphics are really sad, even on max settings. The concept is good, I wish the execution was better. This is just a much much worse version of ATS or ETS, with very basic survival elements. I wish I could recommend it, I really do.
This game has incredible potential to be the most immersive trucking experience to date, but I think the developers missed the chance.
In this game, you deal with almost every single aspect of being a truck driver. Connecting the trailer manually with cables and legs, sleeping in the cabin or motels, cooking(with onboard microwave mind you) and eating variable food and drinks you buy from markets and gas stations, walking around the truck examining and doing basic repairing, refueling the truck (again from outside), obtaining clothing to deal with the cold in winter(yes there are even seasons), interactive cabin buttons, truck cabinets. In your HQ you can repair, customize, sell your truck, buy new ones, etc. The map is fairly large. In short, the gameplay is a blessing.
So why don’t I recommend this game? Two important factors totally destroy the fun. First, the graphics are terrible and outdated. It looks just like “18 Wheels of Steel Extreme Trucker 2” which was released in 2011 and this is unforgivable. Secondly, the controls are the worst simulation controls I have ever seen. I play simulation games with my Xbox One controller all the time, but this game made it impossible. The steering is so clunky that I had to turn to keyboard controls because there is almost no difference between the two. There is no point in using a controller. At least the keyboard made it a little bearable.
Sure I will still play it from time to time but I don’t hope that these two factors will possibly improve with future updates so I give it a thumbs down.
