This Is Illusion.
The RPG in which you take control of a girl named Nawara, who lives with her adoptive father who lives as a magician (Or maybe not?) and the rest of their family. (Though they aren't related by blood)One day you both decide to fetch a magic flower. A plant which will grant you a wish for every petal it has. These flowers are very rare and usually grow once every three years.
However, you will lead Nawara to fall underground, transfoming her into someone she's not and thus a person she will never recognize. With the knowledge of who she used to be and trying to overcome her new persona, it is your task to help Nawara through her journey and reuntie with her father! Of course there will be many outsiders iching for a fight in your path, but don't let that stop you from making new friends and experiencing everything else in this pandemonium filled adventure!

Story:
I would describe the story as "bizzare" and "catchy", although overall i would rate the story "okay". Some part of the story is confusing with lack of proper build up, which doesn't give satisfaction when i reach good ending. Many of the jokes doesn't "click" for me either. And if you haven't read warning about this game, i strongly recommend you to scroll up and read warning described by the developer.
Visual:
The hand drawn CG is okay and has it's own charm, however the overall visual is mixed bags. Some tiles that doesn't match together, while non-repeatable tile used as repeatable tile which show ugly edge. And some animation looks weird/awkward to me.
Audio:
Just what i expected from $2 RPGMaker game. Occasional disharmonic, poor transaction between different music and i feel it's there to fill the silence rather than emphasize the story.
Gameplay:
The puzzle is fine. Many of them aren't too easy and aren't too hard. There are few puzzle which confuse me, but it could be solved with either more thinking or brute force. The quiz which require you to remember some key of the story is a bit annoying, but i understand it's intentional to match with story/game theme.
Gameplay (combat):
The combat/battle system is simply bad. Basically you choose either attack (normal attack, gun and rifle ) and use item (mainly item which recover HP). There's little gameplay progression, so it become dull very quickly that i decide to use cheat engine to modify my HP and use auto mode. The worst part, there are so many random enemy encounter so even clicking auto once on each battle feel like a chore.
Conclusion:
While ILLUSION has some charm and i can developer passion in this game, unfortunately i don't enjoy this game so much. It's hard to recommend this game to everyone, probably expect for hardcore RPGMaker and surreal game enthusiast. If you still plan to buy this game, i strongly recommend you to check other review and the gameplay on Youtube (or other platform).
I really liked this game, from the start I really liked the artwork and that was one of the reasons I bought it, asides from the fun parts of the game, has a really good story, at the end was kinda confused, but everything was explained at very end I didnt expected that will end like that but I liked the ending I got, i think this game has like 3 diferent endings, so ill try to get them, aside I recomend this game its really cheap and inmersive, so If you want a not so long game and inmersive youll be happy to try it, you can finish it like in 4 hours but i took more since I got confused in some puzzles, the puzzles were no that difficult just one that I got stuck but at the end I got help, and solved it, the conversations with the player gave it more life to the game with all the personal things nawara have, in conclusion it was a great game <3
I don't really have anything to add to the game reviews that other people haven't already said, the game is just fun. I played it a few years back when the dev sent it to me over Facebook before they put it up on Steam. It was fun then and it was fun now. I didn't really plan to buy it on Steam since I still have the copy they sent me but I wanted to show my support since we've been friends on Facebook for so long.
The game Illusion is an RPG game and it's pretty good, it does have the same aspects as many RPG games, but the story is what I think makes the game stand out and it has some pretty good humor, the game is however a bit rough and not that well polished and that is noticeable but it has never frustrated me or really affected the gameplay at all, plus the game is stupid cheap at a dollar 50 and is even cheaper on sale costing cents to get, you won't lose much just to give this game a chance.
The overall community is great, especially in the discord and with the artwork.
I have not encountered a single bug.
The game runs perfectly and instantly loads.
Overall I recommend the game.
This is a charming game, and visually interesting.
I was too stupid for some puzzles, but the dev personally answered a question I had, even years after this game was published, which I was really grateful about.
I don't think I can recommend this game to a general audience, but I think anyone who enjoys other similar games may enjoy this

I believe that if indie games are only like that. Really beautiful and original graphics, beautiful and unusual characters. It's a pretty surreal game and the plot is just as surreal, I like that. If you like games like undertale then I advise you to try this

This game was made by someone that was really passionate about making games. He worked so hard on this project all alone for 8 years and started just when he was a kid. I'm writing this review to support the developer and to send him a message to keep making games and keep doing what he loves. A lot of hard work, dedication and love went into this game. And all of this for only the price of 2$? definitely buy this, support the developer that made this awesome nice game.
(This is an old text I wrote into the forum but I'm starting to rate more games so I can keep track of them and help small games to pass magic review count thresholds. So it might not reflect recent updates properly.)
Well done for the most part. I'm a sucker for these twisted, surrealistic kind of games. Well-paced and well-told!
Still, it felt amateurish in some regards:
- I've no problem with swear words, but most of the cursing seems to be there just for its own edgy sake. I guess it's supposed to emphasize the girl's attitude, but it felt kinda forced.
- The punctuation. Really. Wrting like THIS..!!?!?!!? all the time gives the impression there was no thought put in the dialog and breaks the immersion. I know there was lot of work put into this game, but the erratic punctuation screws this impressiont up.
- While I appreciate the attempt to establish an own graphic style it more or less evoked Space Funeral assoziations. Not sure this was really intended. Surrealism can be realized in ways which does not provoke eye cancer. (I'm talking about the ingame graphic, that is. The drawn picture are probably fine if you're into this asian style. I'm not, but I won't judge that.)
- The music. Same as for the graphics. I'ld recommend to replace all these short, disharmonic loops with moody, dark music or even surreal/scary ambient sounds.
This is not a rant. It's a great first game, it just has some technical flaws. Still recommended.

Not so great music but it was made by the same person who made the game so you cant get mad at it
HP items in end game are weird. You can buy 400 HP for 180g or Full HP for 200g????? Of course the full HP one is the better option so why even include 400 HP in the shop in two areas of the game during end game???
The battle system isn't so great, if you don't tap "Z" on the battle screen the enemy will get keep getting free hits. Auto fighting is not recommended during the end game bosses.
Doing math in a game, I just don't like doing math, especially not in a video game
Puzzles that require some thought, I know most are simple but I don't like it.
Black screen, the screen will fade to black and wait there for a couple of seconds during cutscenes, feels like wasted time.
I dunno, I felt like overall the game has a charm to it and it was truly original in it's story telling so I can't get mad it. I did however find that the end game making me really angry playing it lol.
There's a boss battle with cards in the bg and the music hurt my ears and the screen was shaking and I didn't like it then the battle would be normal again. And, throughout this fight, the boss damage towards you is in basically hurting you for 100 hp. When you're fighting, you cant auto fight because your character will try to use a gun or something and I swear I saw 0 damage when using it so I didn't use it and you need to pay extremely close attention to your health or you'll go back to the title screen and walk and rewatch stuff again.
The end game boss battles are just frustrating because they hit you so much and your hits feel like nothing because you're missing a lot. Getting like 2 hit's every full HP usage sucks because if you don't tap "Z" on the battle screen the boss will keep hitting you and you'll lose the battle and you'll go to the title screen and have to do stuff and rewatch everything. !?!!?! Even with the huge amount of full HP restorables, it just wasn't very fun.
Now that it's all over, I feel better. I can only say that the game is unique in it's story telling and it's different than other games out there and that's good. Play it for a unique story.
Came here for the goth gf, but stayed for the catchy story, unusual gameplay experience and "specific" humor (and for the goth gf, of course).
Totally recommend it!

Sometimes I enjoy buying random games from underdog developers that go on sale for $1 and I'm rarely disappointed with what I get.
Illusion is hard to recommend to anyone, but it's not a bad game. The story is intriguing and I really like the pixel goth artwork. The humor is juvenille at best but I enjoyed it.
My only real complaint is that combat is literally just punch the enemy and heal when necessary, and boss battles drag on needlessly. If combat were removed from the game the only thing that would be lost would be the great battle phrases ("FIGHT ME YOU SHIT!" "PARTY WITH ME M8!")
Ultimately Illusion feels like a game that wasn't made for anyone in particular. It's a labor of love from the game's developer just making something they love and wanted to share with the world in hopes that others would find something in it to love as well.
And personally, I quite enjoyed it and am glad to have shared in the experience.
Things I liked:
- Walking stairs - it took me a little longer than it should have to work out how to use stairs but once I did it was super-fun and I enjoyed it very much.
- The character- and overall design: it was the reason I bought the game
- Nawara getting mad at the guy for dooming her.
- The puzzles are solvable without a walkthrough.
- It isn't too long.
Things I wasn't the biggest fan of:
- The final boss - it was really difficult and felt like he kept hitting me while I had to wait for him to finish hitting me.
- The story is a little confusing.
I have to say I'm loving this game so far, it has a lot of charm and a shamelessness to it I admire, such as the corny sense of humor. Sometimes the jokes make groan but more often they make me burst out laughing at the absurdity and clever deliveries. It's visually interesting and I have to give props to the obvious amount of effort put into this, especially impressive from a 16 year old who's first language isn't even English.
BUT! As impressive as this all is.... pleeeeeease give the option to turn off the music ^^; I know I could mute the game itself but I'd like to still be able to hear the sound effects while playing my own music over it. I'm sorry, I'm sure you did your best with the music but... a lot of it is hard to listen to at times. It'd be better if the noticeable gaps between the music's looping could be fixed, but I'd settle for a simple music volume option. Still doesn't effect how I'm enjoying it so far though so I think that says something! (plus a lot of the game is quiet with minimal music anyways)
Overall, I'm very impressed but that comes with the asterisk of being given some of slack, but not a lot of slack, just a little, that's an important distinction. I'm still going to judge this as a product reguardless of the age of the creator, it's just noteworthy to acknolage it and adjust some expectations. Now all that aside, is it worth five dollars? Well given what I've seen so far, I'd say yeah! The passion and effort on screen makes it easy to look over the flaws, there wasn't anything too bad in the English translations (yet) and even the ones I saw were easy to overlook.
It's games like this that make me so fascinated with RPG Maker games, it's a simple yet complex tool and when in the right hands it can make something wholly unique, especially the ones designed by just one person.
I will update this review in the future when I finish this game. So far I'd recommend it, it's trippy, it's funny and it's very original. Plus it's five bucks, the game is a very promising first game by a new talent, so I'd say give it a shot... just be prepared to provide your own soundtrack (sorry, just keeping it 100%)

The game is very "trippy", if you've ever played Nier Automata then you can compare it to that
No grinding or other dumb mechanics that you often see in indie RPGs

The story is kind of confusing/hard to follow
The final boss has way too much health

This game is a breath of fresh air in a sea of generic RPGMaker trash. It's not perfect, but it has a lot of charm and sense of humor that makes it really stand out. Easily one of the best indie games I've bought.
Illusion is a game which was developed over about eight years, since the developer was ten years old. It is a project of passion, of love and fun. It's a story driven old-school-style rpg-lite, with a lot of personality and humor. The game has its rough edges, not least of which is its translation; but if you have good reading comprehension and half a brain, you should be able to follow it just fine for the most part. And if you approach the game with an open mind; you may very well find yourself falling for its charm, which is considerable and probably its greatest selling point. It also instills a sense of magic which is rare to find in any medium. And on that point; the game is a great success. It's not a game which will be for everyone but, if you're curious about it, why not give it a chance? It only takes about six hours to complete.
