I enjoy this game. Although it is majorly lacking in content, it makes up for that with the content it has being relatively well made and enjoyable. You are an AA system. You shoot aircraft. It's straight to the point. And if you are complaining that 5 bucks is too much for a VR game... (I see a few reviews like that) Try getting your finances in order before dropping $200-$1000 buckaroos on a VR headset pal.
Simple game where you control a huge anti aircraft gun.
You can swap between 3 weapons and have a "special" move.
Your enemy are bombers planes and missiles that are flying above you, to attack the city you are defending...
Enemies that will attack you are lit with red and yellow lights so you know to get those first.
Overall its very simple and gets repetitive after a couple of games.
I recommend it because i got it at a steep discount for like ~$1 and i think it def is worth that.
Pretty much what you'd expect of an indie vr game - interesting, but short.
Having those handheld cannons feels awesome. Changing them through touchpad is nice, but it would be nicer if the game actually explained the difference instead of just throwing you in the action to figure it out for yourself.
I love the idea of shield on the side of the firearms. Instead of pushing buttons on your controllers or any other way to call up the shield, you just shiled yourself as you would naturally would. I'd like to see this idea in more games.
The atmosphere is nice, but it's a bit disrupted by the weapons being *really* loud. Now I realize that realistically they would be really loud, but I'd still appreciate some sort of settings that could decrease the volume of weapons so I could hear something different other than just constant explosions.

Game runs completely cross eyed with WMR, impossible to navigate the main menu (and by extension the game itself) without getting nauseous, no graphics settings or config to adjust this at all
I had this on my wishlist for a good while and I totally should have purchased this earlier.
This is a really therapeutic and fun arcade shooter.
Shooting feels good and powerful and adaptive music on top of that keeps me excited shoot down those pesky planes off the sky.
There probably won't be any updates but I'd love to see some kind of storymode slapped on top. The fact that player is a Kantai is only apparent from a picture hidden in main menu.
The game is fun to play for a couple of minutes (for me at least), but there is not much to it.
Some people might enjoy it more than me :)

If anyone remembers playing Beach Head or Missile Command and enjoying it, then this game will tick your box.
I paid £4 for this, the price of a burger meal… and I’m not disappointed!
Although it is lacking a little something that Beach Head gives, it does satisfy for the price.
I found this game by accident… I can’t remember what I was playing but I remember Beach Head just popped into my head like some random flashback. I remembered how cool and difficult the game was, not only that but also how unique that type of game is. So while in another game I immediately did ALT+F4 and I started looking for Beach Head!
To my surprise google brought up steam catalogue and there was beach head… I couldn’t believe I’d never seen it on steam before!
I nearly bought it as soon as I saw it, but for some reason I started making sure there wasn’t a later version released that I may have missed.
Somehow I found Barrage. I saw it had VR and I just bought it… it does have the Beach Head feel and here's some explanation for those that don’t understand what the communities talking about….
You are a static killing machine, you are unable to move in any direction but you can move 360 degrees (THIS IS PERFECT FOR VR!) instead of arms you have unbelievably huge cannons or machine guns, which ever you want as you can change in the game at any time by using the joystick part of your VR Controller. It’s also worth pointing out you also have heat seeking missiles…
Ever seen Robocop and wanted to be ED-209? Well here you go folks!
So yeah, you have 360 degree movement and the idea is to destroy as many aircraft as possible… The aircraft come in waves and while some drop bombs, some also fire missiles and some simply kamikaze at you.
Oh… You also have GLOC missiles which reload themselves depending on where you put your level up points....
....and then there’s a huge boss, like a zeppelin. WOW GREAT IDEA!!
The waves are pretty balanced, and then all of a sudden the sky’s open up and hell just appears right in front of you. GREAT FUN, GET SHOOTING!
And now I’m going back to beach head… To the developer… It appears that a lot of people have stumbled across your brilliant game by searching beach head. Yes it is slightly unfair that lots of people are comparing the two, and I’ve done the same.
But if you release another game, maybe add something extra other than air units. Possibly soldiers, tanks, jeeps….
Anyway, back to the review… So on RIFT… use the triggers on each controller to fire your cannon or machine gun.
For firing missiles; it’s a case of holding down either Y or B to bring up missiles, keep either button held down and whatever you look at it then highlights, then just let go of either of those buttons and watch the heat seekers / GLOCS whatever they are seek and destroy… Brilliant fun!
Things I love about this game: It’s just pure carnage! I love the sound effects that are made when you shoot and I love the screen shake to match it (you can turn this off if you prefer) and nothing beats the sight of seeing tons of aircraft tumbling out the sky with huge smoke trails and fire. This really gives me the impression that you’re a mean bad ass and capable of anything...
What I also like is the fact you can defend against bombs and blasts by kinda raising your arms and using like your virtual elbow part of the guns as a shield… If that doesn’t make sense, it will in game!
Things I want; more land units… I know that’s slightly unfair on the developer because that’s not the game, but it would be a little cooler if we had tanks and other stuff to pop bullets at, or possibly another level where you’re on the Beach… *HINT HINT*
One thing I will kinda complain about (but its fixable) is the sound volume. It’s does feel like maybe these sound effects were recorded at too high volume and sometimes it hurts your ears lol but its just a case of adjusting your windows volume.
For £4 I am going to give this game 5 out of 5,

A very simple arcady type shooter. I played it briefly and this would be a great killing time kinda game if you got nothing better to play. I think the price is fair if you think you will spend any time in this game more than 5 minutes, or if you often find yourself showing guests VR. This is a prefect little simple game that can easilly impress people who have never been in vr without making them motion sick or such.
It does what is says it does, nothing more nothing less. If you think this sounds fun, its worth 5$ I think.

I actually enjoyed this game but for the love of christ it needs some volume control settings. The volume is super loud and it causes noise fatigue pretty quickly.
The game is worth it when it goes on sale.
There aren't any settings for volume controls or weapon aim angle. Its very loud and I would like to change the angle at which I aim the weapon. The graphics presets are too basic, I want to be able to change more specific settings.
Also I turned off screen shake in the settings but it is still active. The death screen is hard on the eyes, it turns all your vision into literal static.
There is an exploit I reported to the devs around sept 2018 and it still has not been fixed. Considering this is a leaderboard score chaser game its kind of important to fix these things.
This game needs more to it, it feels like endless random enemies (Even if its not random it seems like it). There is no structured wave feeling.
The weapons feel fun to shoot and hitting enemies feels rewarding. Although the hit box on some of the planes seems too large. I like the general idea of the game, it seems like it could be much better if it had more depth to the gameplay. The visuals are basic but they serve their purpose and have a nice aesthetic to them.

Definitely recommend buying this game, extremely fun, great sound design, and overall just a great experience.
Do you like shooting planes... Do you like being a anime girl, with a huge rack... of guns. Then strap up, make sure to turn on some HEAVY METAL and blast away!
You feel like a "badass"! in charge of defending your base in this simple, yet very satisfying WW2 style wave shooter.

I downloaded this game after seeing a curator review and honestly wasn't expecting very much. It's similar to Gunjack or Bandidt Six which are decent games but become tiresome after a few levels. Using a Vive Pro and v1 controllers, the menu "pointer" is very finicky but once you're in the game, no issues other than occasional loss of haptic feedback. There isn't a ton of replay value here once you make it to the top 50 but its fun getting there and the price is right!
Makes me feel like a Kantai.
