Such a great experience this was. This is a game that's filled with memorable action set pieces and knows how to make you feel the way it wants to, one moment you might be a bad-ass commando wiping out Nazis and sabotaging weapons of mass destruction, another you might be a grunt, barely having any ammunition to get to the next point in the battlefield, you might pilot a tank and cause mayhem, or pray to God the next shell doesn't hit you while you crawl across an open field trying your hardest to get to the next building while the enemy rains hell fire upon you.
I have a good start with the franchise. I really liked the atmosphere in the game
Good game I like the timer mechanic on satchel charges and the fact that it is playable despite being the first cod game

It used to be a very different game.
1. Muzzle Flash - The muzzle flash is so obscuring I can't see what I am shooting at and if it is dead or not.
2. Inconsistent TTK - Both yours and enemies TTK is very inconsistent and feels just random.
3. Friendly AI - Friendlies don't shoot at enemy AI and enemy specifically targets you and ignores others most of the time. If a friendly is not shooting at an enemy and is not getting shot at, I assume that it is safe to move up that is not the case in COD 1. I died so many times because I thought the coast was clear because everyone stopped firing.
4. Health Bar - This Call of Duty is very different from all other call of duty in the series mostly due to the presence of the health bar. It encourages a more slow and methodical gameplay where you stay in cover, clear all enemies and then move up. I am kind of used to the pace of the newer ones in the series and I died a lot until it clicked.
5. Animation jank and other jank - Certain enemy animations like leaning out of cover is unnatural and janky. I got stuck in teammates and terrain a lot and died.
6. Gamma and resolution - Gamma slider is broken and no widescreen support. Editing the config files didnt help either.
Don't buy unless you are feeling nostalgic, it aged poorly. I remember when I originally played it, I liked it so much I slept with it under my pillow.
It's a good game and i only played training mission. so 6.7/10 and i'm giving a yes because i wouldn't let it down.
Great game! Still, it's lacking in a few areas. No battlepass or microtransactions, kinda dumb.
It's a nostalgic game. I definitely recommend it, even if you haven't played it before.
I'm limited to older low system req games due to my cheap laptop and living in Europe temporarily and this one is a timeless classic. Playing it while living in Germany was an eerie vibe though I must say. 10/10, my first time playing the OG Call of Duty.
Can't believe this just came out!! Really refreshing after playing Medal of Honor. I think it has a lot of potential for a sequel!

A lot of you are complaining about the price since it's an old game but I've always gone by the value of the game rather than it's age and personally, I feel like I was undercharged, sure the graphics are.... terrible same can be said with the sounds and such but it still runs smoothly and it's a huge standout from the more modern Call of Duty games.
I'd rather play an outdated game over an unpolished one... it really shows how far the gaming industry has fallen, especially towards these so called AAA games.

BEFORE I GO ON I would just like to say that even almost 22 years after its release this game still holds up incredibly well and deserves more attention, that being said FUCK PAVLOV, HOLY SHIT ITS SO BAD I WANT TO TEAR MY FUCKING MONITORS SCREENS OUT BEND THEM IN HALF AND SHOVE THEM BOTH UP ALL OF THE AIS IN THIS LEVEL ONE AFTER THE OTHER. AFTER YOU DEAL WITH THE SNIPERS THAT YOU HAVE TO DEFEND YOUR TEAMMATE AGAINST (which is a decent part) YOU ARE TOLD TO RUSH A 5 STORY BUILDING FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH THE MOST BROKEN AI I HAVE EVER FUCKING SEEN IN ANY GAME IN MY FUCKING LIFE. I FIGURED OUT THAT THE BEST WAY TO EVEN GET WITHING A SLIM CHANCE OF ACTUALLY MAKING IT WAS TO JUST FULL RUSH INSTEAD OF WAITING AND TAKING THEM OUT. HOLY SHIT. Game graphics were terrible but it's an old game so sure. But then the gameplay sucks. Most of the missions are bad. And the overall story is dogshit. Don't buy this game!

Great FPS that still holds up to this day. You can ofc tell it was released over two decades ago, but its still fun and has some very memorable moments, like the first soviet mission or the infiltration of a german warship with good old Captain Price. I definitely wouldnt recommend buying it without some sort of discount though, because 20 euros for a 5h long, 20 year old game is just too much.
This game is one of the best nostalgia trips for those of us who enjoyed gaming in the early 2000's.
ive finally beat it for the first time (ignore my massive skill issue) and this game was amazing, honstly one of the best pre 2006 games ive ever played and ive played MANy og games, this game is a masterpiece and is what started the amazing cod series
I love this game but the fact that it's from 2003 and still has a $19.99 pricetag is incredibly scummy of Activison. Games like Sonic Mania, Arkham City, and DOOM (2016) came out way later and currently have the same price. If they fix the cost I'll change this review and give this game the true praise it deserves.
Is this a good game. for the most part yes. this game is old. there is no doubting this and thats not a bad thing. however. things done in this game were done better in Call of Duty 2.
now·a·days you are buying this to play the campaign. and i'll tell you know this game isn't worth $20 ($26 CAD) similar games from this time like Return to Castle Wolfenstein is around $5 on steam and Medal of Honor Allied Assault (including its expansions) are on GOG for $13 CAD and it is regularly Discounted to half that.
I find it Insulting activision charges this much for a game that is pushing 25 years. if they bundled united offensive along with COD1 then they could justify this price. but no. they charge the price of the full game for the expansion pack that needs this game to even be playable. that is just ridiculous.
Get it on sale. otherwise don't bother. it isn't special enough to justify full price.
also give us a COD3 PC port you cowards.

One of the classics. I remember getting the warchest for Christmas when I was 8. Still as good as ever, started playing this morning and didn't stop until the hammer and sickle was waving over the Reichstag.

The only good COD game
I never had the original Call of Duty as a kid; I had Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Since Allied Assault isn’t available on Steam, I decided to give this a try.
I played it exclusively on the Steam Deck, and it ran flawlessly. While it lacks native controller support, the community has created plenty of controller configurations that work. It’s a timeless classic and an absolute blast to play!
Runs fine on my win 11 gaming rig. Love is game. Graphics are not important, when the game is this good.
