In this fast and furious game, you play as the last employee left in a hazardous electric company where big bouncing balls have gotten into a short circuited panel!
You'll need to race against time to use a neutralizing laser gun to shoot the colored balls, matching the ball you shoot to the border color. Once you neutralize that ball and turn it white in color, that ball and only that ball is safe for you to touch and collect and deposit in the collection basket.
The action heats up as you progress, getting more and more chaotic and should offer plenty of fun and replay value!
Laser Ball is my recreation of an old Commodore 64 type in classic action arcade game I enjoyed as a teenager. It was originally published in Compute! magazine (Oct 1985) and was called 'Laser Beam".

Played offline for longer than 0.2 hours (about 1 hour, 20 minutes altogether).
I'm familiar with nearly all of ZaxtorGames titles at this point. They all use amateurish graphics and sound effects, which provides a unique appearance to the games but also suffer a bit in graphical quality compared to other 2D titles on Steam. At least he made his own stuff, and it does create a certain feel to the game that seems fitting coming from this creator / developer.
The core game is fairly simple: shoot a colored ball, keep your generator repaired, deposit balls after shot, and avoid obstacles. All of this is within a time limit. It's simple with the replay value coming in beating your own and others high scores.
The controls are the biggest issue. Unless I missed it, remapping keys doesn't seem to be an option, but the default keybinds are acceptable (to me, at least). The controls themselves seem too slippery. It wasn't uncommon for me to run into something trying to do a precise movement. It could be a side effect of getting older, though.. maybe my reflexes just aren't good any more.
$2.99 is a fair price for this game. The core game is acceptable, the controls are workable, and it has some solo project / low budget charm to it. For $2.99, there's quite a few better games on Steam, including some within the ZaxtorGames catalog.
If this developer wasn't an acquaintance, I'd flip a coin on the recommend question. He does appear to keep this game up to date, so I'll err on the side of a thumbs up.
It's a nice chill game that takes some time to get used to the mechanics. Having some hints to get an idea of what exactly to do (or reading the instructions) is definitely beneficial! Watch out for that red ball of death too! The mechanics are solid and there don't seem to be any bugs which is nice, and the hit detection is spot on. I haven't made it very far into the levels, but the difficulty ramps up nicely from level to level. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes indie, retro games that involve planning and forethought more than skill.
This game is honestly a ton of fun... It's simple to learn, but challenging in the best way possible. It's well worth the full price and it's the closest thing to oldschool arcade games that we have today, and it doesn't even cost you money per try! Definitely pick this up. :D
Disclosure: I am friends with the developer
This game has become my latest addiction. While the game does need a bit more sharpening and refining from a design perspective, the gameplay is really fun and has been able to keep me hooked and made me keep coming back to it daily to see how high I can get my score.
The game is definitely worth its price!
