BONEWORKS Is a narrative VR action adventure using advanced experimental physics mechanics. Dynamically navigate through environments, engage in physics heavy combat, and creatively approach puzzles with physics.
- Advanced Physics: Designed entirely for consistent universal rules, the advanced physics mechanics encourage players to confidently and creatively interact with the virtual world however you want.
- Combat: Approach combat in any number of ways you can think of following the physical rules of the game's universe. Melee weapons, firearms, physics traps, environments, can all be used to aid you in fights with enemy entities.

Tested on Quest 3S with Steam link full wireless, it's good, no issues.
I first played Bonelab on Quest and loved it but it lacked a real "campaign" feel. Boneworks's only downside is that the climbing in Bonelab is better but I heard that they will (finally) port Boneworks for Quest, which I will happily re-buy there to support the devs.

great story great sandbox great weapons my only promblem is theres no modding support I hope the boneworks remaster is a free update to people who already own the game and theres mod support like in bonelab.
I think you should get Boneworks bc its a fun sandbox and the mods are good but dont even get me started about the campaign because it is SOOO much better than Bonelab's campaign but Boneworks is kind of an outdated game but they might give it a revamp soon so its worth a try.
For those wondering if this works on pico, IT DOES and very well. love the physics systems, so happy then made a second game, gotta love beating the fuck out of ford
succeeds as a physics sandbox on VR with a plethora of things to experiment with, but overall isn't the most compelling game. if you need a game to just mess around in for some time and absorb some of those Portal 1 and 2 vibes from, this is great.

for a 6 year old game boneworks holds up considerably better than bonelab in my opinion, likely due to bonelab being on quest 2 , this means that boneworks looks amazing and runs perfect on my quest 3 attached to my computer using airlink, this game is now one of my favourite vr games, even after only playing for 3 and a half hours, its well worth the £25 i spent

This is literally one of the best vr games that I have ever played. The physics are great. The fact that you have complete freedom of choice in this game is amazing. Everything in this game is physical. And reacts with your physical in-game body. I think that the collectibles are a little bit of a headache, and the climbing is a little finicky, but those are my only complaints. Overall, amazing game I would give it a solid 9.5/10

The physics are great and the game is fun. It also has plenty of replayability in the campaing. however the fact that you need to find every wepon every npc capsle... it gets anoying after a while because you don't know were anything is. However the sandbox is one of the best part of the game when you do get all of the items for the sandbox. (I do have dyslexia so... sorry for the bad spelling)
This game is good and holds up very well in 2024. Although it doesn't have cloud saving and replaying first couple of missions is pain, after you are done with those rather annoying and extremely slow paced missions, the game fully opens up to much more fun puzzles and actual action that you can partake in. Game annoying at start, but fun when you are past those first couple hours
I LOVE THIS GAME. by far the is the best SLZ game. The story is amazing. the physics are great and it has so many mods. if ur computer can run it, GET IT
While I will say that I have been playing more Bonelab (Fusion, and some of the mods being better, etc.) I will still always love Boneworks and how it felt when I first played this game. And now with a potential patch 7 on the way for PC, bringing it into Marrow 2, I am very happy that this game is getting the extra love it needs to really bring it to the best that it can be, both performance and feeling wise.
This game is great, but yes, it's a bit outdated now since Bonelab came out. The mod support is better in Bonelab, and it has more features, like the modding SDK, a bigger storyline, and smoother game mechanics. However, since Bonelab is somewhat of a sequel, I recommend playing this for some of the story. As for overall gameplay, this game is nostalgic—it was the first VR game of its kind. Back in 2021, I absolutely enjoyed playing this, and now I'm enjoying Bonelab on the Quest 2.
This game has a great physics engine. I would recommend this game to all of my friends. Each level has its own unique environment. Honestly, this game may have to be running on a computer to play the game but it was meant for valve index and was never meant for a regular meta headset. 9.5/10, my one problem is the gripping. This game was a great experience to the physics engine and how it showed real time lighting. I remember how I learned about this 3 years ago when i really wanted a VR headset and never thought i need a PC to run this game. This is one of my best purchases since i got Bonelab. I would 100% recommend this to all my friends.

alright,i was excited at first cause i saw a lot of YouTube vids on it,but what the vids failed to mention is the absolutely atrocious physics engine...of you could even call it that,go somewhere else you Half-Life wannabe
Honestly one of the most involved VR games I've played in a long time. This game is one of those that make you look at it with a completely new lens, where the most simple tasks can have you taking your time, looking at each detail. The guys at SLO really put together an amazing piece of work that almost feels like playing a game for the first time, ever.
BONEWORKS makes my bone rattle in a good way, it just makes my mitochondria so happy and it pleases my enzyme substrate complexes ;]
My advertisement for the game: solve the worlds simplest puzzles with the most deceptive physics in the body of a toddler with poop in his pants! Feel the immersion as your character randomly gets taller and shorter, making you feel the radiation sickness of your character as motion sickness! Experience the thrill of sleuthing out what tiny object your character is stuck on this time! Test your pantamiming skills while trying to stow items on your player body that's always turning where you're trying to look. Worried about being too immersed? Fear not, every aspect of the game is designed to remind you that you're flailing around with a vr headset on and not playing anything worthwhile. Big fan of the half life series? Great! This game lets you enjoy the aesthetic of a half life game without any of the story to detract from the unsettling early 2000's era graphics.

i was really surpised by the plot twist at the end, where you (ford) die by being shot in the head.
fuck everything else just play sandbox with a completed save to fuck around for 5 minutes uninstall and play again later 9 months worth the $299 quest 2 i bought
pretty good but it should be a bit more replayable because after you 100% game it kinda gets boring. even with mods it still gets boring cuz theres only some actual good mods.
Very good game probably a 8.7/10. I do hear their sequel Bone Lab is preferred and gives a lot more detail into the story since its an ongoing story with the lore in each game they have published so I look forward to playing the rest of them. Keep up the good work!
Intersting but way too annoying to be worth it. Nothing about the gameplay really stands out, its all just exactly what you expect out of any other game out there.
The whole point of the game is the full body phgysics, but it just makes everything worse, you get stuck on things, its hard to work with tools and guns, and climbing shit is an absolute *nightmare* which you really wouldnt think would be too much of a problem but oh boy i swear a quarter of the game is struggling to climb up shit. They even had the fucking Ladder from Metal Gear 3 at the very end of the game that takes 10 minutes to climb just to reach the credits while every single handhold is a struggle to reach out for as your charater bobbles up and down by two feet constantly.
And the collectables are even worse. You can hold a grand total of three items, including weapons at a time. THREE. and in order to collect whatever item you found, youve got to cart it all the way to the very end of the whole level. And speaking of bring stuff to the end of a level, it deletes all your shit between levels too.
The whole game is just a massive headache, if you want something fun just by Into the Radius for a story driven shooter, or Blade and sorcery if you want actually fun combat
One of the best VR games out there. but i suggest having one of the high quality VR headsets for this and a decent gaming pc.
Didn't enjoy this when i first got it, it made me really motion sick.
Came back 4 years and two headsets later, a locomotion user in all games with 0 issues.
This game still makes me sick due to the way it simulates the body, 0 / 10 do not recommend.
This is THE best VR game. I am a long time Half-Life fan and bought a Valve Index this year to finally play Half-Life Alyx, and later got around to playing Boneworks as I remember it looking cool in early development. I have to say though, Alyx was impressive. This... is something else! The visuals are not as great as Alyx granted. Neither is the animation. But the level of interaction possible in Boneworks is insane. It really does feel like next gen stuff (as VR should). Now of course the climbing, rope swinging, fast paced shooting, sliding, falling and flying is a MASSIVE part of what makes this game good, although I am aware that some people just cannot enjoy it due to motion sickness, and that is terribly unfortunate. But if you can get used to VR, as most people can, then you will enjoy it.
The story is really good, its the kind of thing that you feel that there is so much going on but you don't understand quite what it all means and it really draws you in that way. It takes some really interesting turns and makes the world around you feel very... well I'll let you decide.
Some people complain that the physics can be buggy, and whilst it certainly can, it was never a problem for me. It does depend on your own movements, and what I mean by that is people complain about magazines not going into guns or your hand not gripping the gun (on two handed ones). The cause of this is simply not putting your hand in the right place for the most part. This can be difficult to get right, but you will get used to it. I seemed to naturally get it right 98% of the time which made for a relatively smooth experience. Also it may not seem obvious in VR but when you go to pull yourself up on ledges with your arms, if you crouch then you can pull your legs up, if you dont crouch you will fall back down.
My advice is this shouldn't be your first VR game. Play Half-Life Alyx first. That game excels at being a brilliant first step into VR as its very easy going on motion sickness and is overall a really smooth running experience (you dont need to grip guns for example, in Boneworks you actually have to hold everything). Once you've played Half Life Alyx, play Boneworks and realise what is possible...
Bonelab is better just for the fact its newer and had more time to evolve but in a vacuum this might be the best vr game ever.
the combat is really fun and the guns are designed well, but the physics puzzles are either really easy or very tedious for a vr game
i love the wxperience of this game good grapics. and god gameplay/storyline. and i recommend using melon loader for better modding experince. go buy it. its not a waste of moneee!.

There are some issues that can be summed up to being SLZ's 3rd project
The recollection bin feature can be funner then Bonelab sometimes but can also be hell with all of the inventory slots being filled with gacha balls
The physics can be clunky especially sharp weapons
Using the guns for melee can be more effective then shooting
Climbing sucks because your hand cant grip on the top of most objects and the legs just exist there
Overall while not perfect it is still a good game

Sandbox VR game.
If you are looking at this game and hoping for a good story mode that you have maybe seen else where. This is something that you wont find on this game... However, with that said, this is something that you can most definitely have with and on. Creating your own world with mods that are developed for this game, making it in the Star Wars or even something out of the movies as "Spider man" the gamine mechanics of this game is well made, and the movement and the interaction with the items and the other NPC's in this game is very good. There is countless hours of fun to be had on here and with other people that you want to play with on the certain maps that you have made or gotten.
In my opinion this is something to be had fun on but without so much as a story mode that if you were hoping for, I am glad to shine a bit of light on that. I would wait for a sale for this game due to the shelf life that this game has. There is a lot of fun to be had on here.
I played Bonelab before this one and I can say that they improved HEAVILY on the movement. The Climbing in this game just feels gross and hard to do. Ford weighs about the same amount as a freight train causing the parkour portions to be quite frustrating.
Rest of the game is great tho :)

there are some games that make you stare at the screen long after you beat them. there wasnt a screen to stare at for this. instead, i just sat there. without question, it was one of the best games id ever played. to quote Homelander, “It was perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details.” the ending was great, the guns blew me away, and i still cant believe how real it felt. half life alyx wasnt this good even! so yes, i would recommend it.

I've heard a lot of praise for this game, and I appreciate what it tries to be, but ultimately can't recommend it.
The gunplay, despite being featured prominently in both the trailers and the gameplay, is mediocre at best, and exceedingly bland at worst.
The puzzles are unfortunately worse, and feel more like they belong in a tech demo, which, to be fair, the game is kind of a tech demo.
Ultimately, this game is a shooter/puzzle game with bad shooting and worse puzzles, and I would recommend against it.
Maybe the game would have seemed interesting in 2020, but in 2024, it doesn't.
This is a very fun Action-Adventure game using realistic physics great story, characters, and overall game is very enjoyable if you want to shoot realistic guns this is for you. Also amazing OST probably the best for a vr game even though this game came out in 2019 if you don't have this and you have a vr that can run games like boneworks get it. you can also mod your game too

Boneworks is like stepping into a VR playground where everything feels real. The way objects, weapons, and even your own body interact with the world is incredible. You can climb, swing, throw, and fight in ways that feel so natural it’s almost eerie.
The combat is super satisfying. Guns feel great to shoot, and melee weapons actually make you feel like you’re doing damage when you swing them. Plus, the puzzles make you think creatively, using the environment and physics to solve problems.
That said, it’s not perfect. The controls take a bit to get used to, and sometimes the realistic physics make things awkward—like climbing or handling certain objects. The story is also... kind of confusing? It’s cool but not the main reason you’re playing.
If you love VR and want something that really pushes what the platform can do, Boneworks is a must-play. Just be ready for a bit of a learning curve.

The presentation of the story is somewhat weak, but this game makes up for it tenfold by being the most fun I've had with a game's physics engine in a while.
