Micro Pico Racers is a fun top-down arcade racing game with a retro style graphics where you control of little cars racing over exciting tracks. Start your engines and prepare for the craziest and most addictive racing game ever. Fast-paced racing game with a fresh interpretation of the 16-bit style. This is an arcade racing game based on games that I loved playing in the arcades growing up. You could say it's inspired by those games, maybe a tribute to them or simply a rip off, any of these could be true!
Features:
- Great retro pixel art design.
- Select from over 20 vehicles each with its own unique handling and performance.
- Grand prix mode witth 60 levels provides hours of fun and challenging races.
- Multiple views (top down, isometric, back view).
- Detailed pixel art enviroments.
- Different game mechanics (racing, destroy your rivals, drift challenge, time attack).
- Great car drive physics.
- Split screen 2 player mode.
- Online multiplayer mode.
- Easy to learn, simple to play, but a real challenge to Master.
- An awesome Soundtrack inspired by the glory days of top down racing games.
The game’s original music and sound design are being carefully put together to create the right atmosphere. Influenced by classic 16-bit era soundtracks.
I'm a indie game developer and my name is Josep Monzonís Hernández. I love create simple, fun and well designed games. My great inspirations are mostly games from the 8-bit and 16-bit era. I like every aspect of the process involved in making video games: pixel art, coding, game design and drawing. I've worked on several indie games. Micro Pico Racers is my last solo developed game project and has been in development for the past 1 year.
Micro Pico Racers hopes to bring back the blend of pure fun and challenge that was a staple of arcade classics.

Micro Pico Racers is a quaint 2D top down racer with simple game-modes and somewhat challenging features. The game naturally progresses forcing the Player to think intelligently and trial cars to see their weaknesses and strengths to use them to their fullest potential later on.
My time with this has been a bit of a rollercoaster.
Firstly I really like the graphics and top down racing games in general so this looked perfect for me.
I started playing and the handling was terrible and I could win anything, some cars flat out stand no chance against the competition, I nearly refunded, but as it was so cheap I carried on, I'm glad I did as changing the view to the behind car one made a world of difference, the game is best played from this view in my opinion.
I've now completed the first cup, but can't for the life of me get any further, the music and sounds are fine, apart from the "Go, Go, Go!" Bit as thats something that really grates on me, oh and the "drift failed" and "drift".
Ok the verdict is the game is ok, its not amazing, but I have had some fun so far.
Graphics 7/10
Sound 4/10 (mainly due to the fact you can't turn the annoying voiceovers off)
Gameplay 6/10 it's got handle that is tough to get used too, but it can still be fun.
Overall 6.5/10
On sale it's worth grabbing as its so cheap.
This game have a good potential, but right now it is frustrating.
-The black screen when starting/finishing a race takes long enough to be nuisance. It's very annoying when I fail a race and have to wait and go through the menus again just to retry the same track.
-Absence of any in-game hint or tutorial. Take for example the race 4: it took me several tries until I started to understand the drift mechanics. A few more to realise I was using a car with a terrible drift factor.
-The A.I. clearly cheats.
-Local multiplayer limited to 2 players. No bots. Also no way to change the controls.
-No direct connect option for online play.
-Did I mention how annoying the music from the menu is?
A fun 2D/Pseudo 3D racer in a similar vein to Codemaster's Micro Machines. Fast and responsive, as you'd expect. The drifting round corners works really well, takes time to master and very satisfying when you do. The pseudo 3D view (original Mario Kart style) works very well and shows none of the familiar distortion associated with this technique.
As well as the race career mode and a (mostly) dead on-line mode you also get a split-screen 2-player mode. As well as the usual races and time-runs you can play a destruction derby style game and a soccer style game. Both a lot of fun with friends.
I got a lot of fun from this game and well worth the price.
Hey, I like this game. It's a simple game that demands a lot from you. The mechanics are easy enough to get the hang of, but don't think it will just come to you. The handling takes a lot to get used to, and in my case, I like controllers for racing anyway, and this game is one I need a controller for. I tried to use keyboard, but I didn't like it.
You're going to race, time trial, drift and demo other cars. It's easy to pick up, but going to take a lot of attempts. This is very arcade and that is why I like it. I haven't tried the online multi-player, but I can't imagine it's going to be packed.
What this game does need, is a restart button at the game over screen.
It's o ok game
Neat little game. It looks very good and I specially like the 3d camera mode. It's definitely worth the money. The only thing I am missing is a "non-mission" mode for single-player in which you can try out all the different mechanics on your own.
If the "Finished" and "Lost"-screens would then be displayed a little shorter, this would be perfect!
Perfect little game. Gotf ro 99c which is ideal price. Like micro machines without the bullshit. Pure racing fun! Career is damn tough but makes you want to try again
F A N T A S T I C playability!
I like this game, especially considering that only one man programmed it.
It has some flows though. The music is really annoying and there is no option to disable it. There is one option to disable sound, but then u get rid of ALL SOUNDS IN THE GAME. Its weird that he didnt think about this.
Another annoying thing is that u cant setup your own controls.
It's cute and I enjoyed the challenge - I like the pixel style and it's certainly interesting - worth the £4.
There are just two main issues I have with this:
Firstly, I don't like being thrown back into the menu every single time I fail a challenge, I prefer to be thrown right back in to it, maybe a "retry" option should be there to throw you right back in once you fail a challenge.
Secondly, the difficulty ramps up very quickly - once I'd got a handle on things and started getting in to it, it threw me off that the Novice level 7 is just WAY TOO HARD - it's not a game centered on difficulty so it's not like that's an excuse, nor is this a later on level where you'd except difficulty, but having just 15 seconds to do that lap, that needs to be changed to 20 at least!
I normaly write longer reviews but i only played it ones and already requested a refund. Why you might ask and "shouldnt i give it a second chance" n stuff. I made a short video which pretty much shows why coz you just CANT make "THAT" in a RACING GAME.

Sorry thats a no-go. THAT is NOT fair in the slightest.
This game is very hard at some points, but at some other points it is fun.
Fun! Also I find it challenging! So... FUN!
