*Picked up the Game and all the DLC on sale*
Not amazing or anything but game plays fairly well in most aspects, Reminds me of the SSX games back in the 2000's. Good game to just pick up and play. Good game despite Uplay's horrendous program and service
100% Achievement Review: A quick review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements.
Title: Steep
Summary: Open world winter sports game
Personal notes: Steep is a fun arcade style winter sports game. You get access to various winter sports such as skiing, boarding or even crazy wing-suits. And what is a multitude of sports without beautiful locations such as the Alps to utilise them in? That being said, the environment and overall world design is honestly top notch. I found myself messing around with the photo mode more often that I would like to admit because of this. The soundtrack is pretty good albeit a little small but you can easily just throw on any tune you'd like. I would also like the addition of a go-pro (first person) mode, this lead to a lot more realistic but peaceful sessions. The only issue I had personally with Steep was that the map would sometimes glitch out. This might be due to the fact the map is super detailed, up to the point you can get a close up of riders descending the hill. Otherwise though I had no technical difficulties. Achievement wise I had a blast completing all the challenges and stories hidden around the mountains. Some of them are quite difficult but can all most likely be done with some practice. I do want to point out that you need two DLC's to actually 100% this game, those being Winterfest and the Extreme Pack respectively. With all this in mind, I do highly recommend this game to any sports fan, ski and snowboarders especially. It also goes on sale for pretty cheap quite often.
Time it took to complete: 29hrs
Most difficult achievement(s):
- Legendary Legend! (Reach the LEGEND rank in 6 different fields of expertise)
- No more secrets (Find 110 Drop zones, 115 challenges and 149 Point of Interest in Alps)
- 24 carats Gold challenger (Get 115 Gold Medals on Alps Public Challenges)

I bought during the steam sale and shouldve realized this was Ubisoft. No one wants to launch a game with ur janky launcher and for the love of jeezus please have a start menu where u configure display settings prior to starting gameplay
good game. Js wish they could add more sports and certainly not weird sports. Also, adding more skiing missions won't hurt anybody but other than that it's great.
Got it on sale for like four bucks. For that price its a good bit of casual fun. I kinda hate that it is chronically online because my internet isn't always great, but I can't fault the game because I'm woefully out of step with the world. So, as much as I'd like the game to touch grass now and then, i still enjoy playing it.
Have you ever wanted to pretend to be a cool snowboarder but didn't have the money or time to go all the way to the mountains and endure the literal numbing cold that makes everything suck? This game isn't VR but it is the best experience of being a snow stunter that you can get without being in pain and coughing up small amounts of blood from altitude sickness. You can even do things that most other games don't have; for example, you can literally use a rocket wingsuit. Rocket wingsuits are AWESOME bro. But all in all if you are looking for a game to have some fun and be silly in this is a good game to do so.
Great snowboard game. Very cozy to play and fun with friends. The graphics are also top notch.
Listening to Come As You are by NIrvana while barrelling down a cliff at 100km/h is peak gameplay
Great game to chill. I play it with some chill music and its giving some vibes. Good graphics and physics. Recommend it.
It's aite. Definitely wouldn't pay full price for it. It's full of stuff locked behind another paywall. Classic ubisoft. Not bad for something to do with your hands while listening to a podcast. It's nothing particularly exciting but if it costs like $5 go for it.
Love it !
As much that I do what probably no one does - I often start the game just to do some climbing XD
But in all seriousness - a great way to spend you time. Great job Ubi.
Fell down roughly 400m at about 100km/h head-first into a rock and yet, instead of instantly transforming into a pile of goo, I stood back up and said to myself - "That, was, AWESOME!"
I mean that is as legit as it gets, right? Anyway, the game is Steep, the hills are Steep, the price is Steep, EVERYTHING is Steep! Steep is life, Steep is love!
206 bones/10 - Yes, that is the total amount of bones within the human body, and my character has easily broken quadruple that amount in less than 17 hours.
An overall fun and exciting game, where you can snowboard, ski, sled, wing-suit and more to your hearts content on some beautiful mountains, you can either chill with your peeps and ride freely or challenge yourself with the range of challenges in the game, most of the time it's a grand ol' time but some of the challenges might make you rage a little bit until you understand *what* exactly you're meant to do.
this game started off as a random cheap purchase (on sale it was round £5 for me) and I expected the game to hold my interest for like 3 hours until I moved off to the next "big" game, instead I ended up locking in, 100%'ing the achievements and even tried challenging for a few world records (I got close a few times tbh) so this game is easily addictive once you get into it.
Only slight annoyance to some of the options (like the sled) is that it's locked behind the DLC, and that at least one set of DLC (The Olympics) is no longer purchasable, meaning you can't truly 100% the game, however at least Ubisoft realised that and removed any achievements you couldn't get from said missing content.
Steep is 100% worth picking up on sale, especially if you get it with the DLC, boot it up whenever you're having a bad day and just throw yourself down a mountain or two, it can be therapeutic.
it's so fun to zip down a mountain, parachute in the sky, or fly so close to the ground you could touch it. this game is all about living with danger every single day, yet manages to be so fun and chill at the same time. great game. 9/10
The gameplay can both be relaxing or hard, depending on what you want to do.
8/10 to many stupid dlc's
horrible game, shitty controls, map doesn't work at all, not realistic, 1/10 DO NOT buy, it is not worth your time and money.
the graphichs are nice and the game runs smooth the game is also not pay to win you can get the DLC's with the coins instead of paying real money
very fun and good graphics
main game has 5 sports: ski, snowboard, wingsuit, rocket wingsuit and paraglider.
- you'll be mostly doing the first two as they are the most fun ones in races or free roam.
- vanilla wingsuit is kinda meh as there is no mechanic like changing sports in mid-air (starting with wingsuit and quickly changing to snowboard would be dope) and wingsuit races are keeps getting harder and irritating.
- rocket wingsuit is useful while unlocking fast-travel spots and new regions but discovering regions are kinda feels empty as they don't mean anything but unlocking new races.
- paraglider is COMPLETELY BORING AND HARD TO CONTROL. NOT FUN AT ALL.
- dlc sports are also meh and can be bought with in-game money, so DO NOT buy them with real money.
in a nutshell, with skiing and snowboarding, the game makes you entertain for 10 hrs, then, everything about it becomes repetitive as the races are getting harder and turns out to be die-repeat-die-repeat cycle which is not fun and smooth like the early stage of the game. as a ssx fan, i can recommend steep (when it's on sale) for a solid 10-15 hrs for its high-grade riding mechanics and graphics if you're into snow sports.
its a very chill game just to play around on especially if you dont have the money or experience to actually ski or snowboard
Realistic graphics and fun play
Could have been a perfect game if Ubisoft actually gave a shit about their customers. This game is riddled with the most obnoxious bugs the worst of which is the fact that they didn't even properly offer controller support. A random person had to make the correct layout for everyone and then you have to go find it and download it JUST to have the game WORK PROPERLY.
Don't even get me started on the fact that the entire game's progress is tied to being online. Meaning, no online = NO GAME PROGRESSION.
Ubisoft is disgusting just like EA, the worst of the worst.
I love this game has realistic graphics and fun game play but i would love if they added more resorts such as resorts in the USA and Canada.
such a chill game to play and everytime you play explore something new
played this game too much and basicallt have no challenges left + cant get DLCs
Game breaking bug, game wont go past loading screen i love ubisoft
great phisics and graphics
Skate 3 but for snow sports.
Played it on the Xbox One, played it on the Series X, Played it on PC.
Fly around, do whatever you want.
Good game however the HR's up at this games company are starting to focus on monetising it which nobody likes, focus on bugs and features please!
Ubisoft has an amazing talent. They can take amazing ideas for games, put a whole bunch of work and effort into them. And still make them totally dog shit. The controls are beyond janky. The game will just randomly restart or end events as you are trying to look at the map or pause the game. And it's stuffed full of stupid micro transactions.
This game is too frustrating. It feels as you get chucked in the deep end right from the start of the game and some of the challenges are ridiculous.
Overall i think its a cool game but this game in terms of what you do as a story is awful. You complete challenges over, over and over until they become down right impossible where you can be there for an hour or two on ONE SINGULAR COURSE. Another major issue is the validating checkpoints in some challenges. I cannot count the amount of times i jumped through a checkpoint and it didn't 'validate' it. If that's the case they need to add someway so players can practice rather than points of interest on the map. Like go to a certain point in a challenge or maybe like a rewind like in Forza. Its so frustrating especially with random stops from the board or skii's that make no sense. I also dislike the rocket wingsuit due to the boost control for keyboard. Its just unusable unless you have a broken finger that is bent 180 degrees the other way then your good.
Don't recommend, i think it can and will feel like a waste of money for those who get easily frustrated like i do. For others than enjoy the 'competitive' style of down right impossible challenges presented to new born players then go for it. The start of the game is bad for many reasons due to no detailed tutorial but rather before every challenge rather than in the middle of one, pausing the game to give small tips or what not. Its bad in my opinion. Some things are fun and you may find the things i criticise to be wrong at some points too and thats fine. These are my experiences. I don't recommend but you can give it a shot.
Got this at a great discount, still a great game after all these years. Sad to see it was given up on.
After scalping yourself with a spoon in r6 this game is perfect to relax to. best game they released in a long time. Glad the community is still active
I don’t know what the negative reviews are on about. This game is peak, quite literally. The controller support is good from my experience, if you don’t like it just use steam big picture mode you big ass baby. This game is for all the dudes who saw games like Tony hawk and Shaun white and were upset with the limits to speed and what your character can take. You can jump of a giant cliff on a snowboard, hit like 10k tricks, and land fine, and it is so satisfying. Throw in wingsuiting and parachuting too, and you have top of the line fun. Multiplayer too, not just with friends, but other real people hitting the slopes like real life. The listening to music while riding around vibes nearly top the listening to music and swinging around in spider man 2 vibes. Do reccomend.
Game is genuinely awful if you want to use a controller. Almost impossible to even play. Half the time when you are trying to hit jumps, instead of jumping, your player will brake. It seems as if every control is actually mapped to another button. Controller support is just awful and would never recommend this game on pc.
This game, even though sometimes can get annoying and frustrating, is a great game and I definetely suggest you play it. Really fun and satisfying hitting ski or snowboard tricks. I do prefer skiing though. But that's on me and it's on you whether your choice is skiing or snowboarding. So, yes. If you can afford performance wise and money wise the game, AND you have a controller, then i suggest you play it.
The games graphics are really good for a game that old, it's not really outdated compared to modern games the challenges are pretty good except for a few, the dlc's also bring some new fun things to the game, ofc it still has the stupid ubisoft launcher requirement and all that ubisoft BS but it's really worth buying at a DISCOUNT.
Literally unplayable.
I didn't land exactly in the circle in the tutorial. Now the only thing I can do is slowly walk around in the snow.
Would be fine in pretty much any other game I've played but for some reason this game has no restart button.
I've never seen this. There's no shortcut, the escape menu has no restart option, you can't select a level. No access to a main menu (I don't even think there's one).
I can't delete my save file because it's in the "cloud".
I can't restart the tutorial unless I make another account and buy the game again, which I obviously won't do.
Thanks Ubisoft, I'll never buy from you again.
This game felt like Forza Horizon 5 (derogatory) at times. The events are often just boring if not annoying, the highlight is definitely the freeroam but even that gets boring as hell after a while.
great game for people that like winter, beutiful graphics and absolutely worth my money
very fun and lots of stuff to do!
intuitive controls, good graphics, awesome slopes/jumps. better than riders republic if you like a bit more realism
Amazing Game with amazing visuals and great controls ... but after 3 days of playing it wont open it launches but wont open. Ive tried like 12 different ways to fix it and even seen devs of the game in the forums. Which leads me here i essentially paid 8 buck on a game that the devs know wont launch. The forums i was on were like 4 years old showing that not only is it a known problem but its been around for a long time and they still choose to have this game out. The only way that i seen that people could open the game was deleting their drivers which im not doing to play this game. TLDR this game is currently a waste of 8 bucks because you get a random amount of time to play before it decides you dont get to anymore.
Lord have mercy, what a beautiful absolutely stunning, visually breathtaking game. If you are into winter sports, or just FREERIDING in an open world, you are in for a hellova treat !! Enjoy !
many years since I played and they still dont have a way to start a new game.
I'd like to play the game over, why cant I start anew? This might be the only game I've ever played where I cannot start over and frankly, its unacceptable
The game is pretty smooth and fun to play. For the first 5 hours, sadly after 7.5 hours of gameplay the game becomes dull and repeatable. I dont like its non-sale price because of the microtransactions and many small dlcs that triple the games price if u dont buy gold and buy everything seperatly. But still you should try it for yourself, I think that its just a matter of personality if you'll like this game for longer or not.
PS.
The achievements dont sync on steam.
EDIT:The achievements now sync! :)
The actual game is amazing, although its unfortunate it requires the most horrid program in existance called Ubisoft Connect to be playable. Which as of now has bugged me out of playing the game any longer. So now I have to wait 2 weeks for a response from Ubisoft Support if they respond at all (I have had this exact issue before with R6 [shocker]).
good game, i really like it, but i wish finding certain races for cosmetics was easier, the friends system is ass, and some of the mechanics are goofy. still love this game tho, the vibes are imaculate espiacally with those graphics
the good
great game
stunning vistas and environments
jaw dropping audio
the bad
scummy multiplayer
forced too use UBISOFT launcher and log in
DLC is overpriced and is necessary too the fulfilment of the game
amazing game shame about the developers
i do recommend this game BUT
game gets 10/10
but because UBISOFT forces you too be in bed with them
and at anytime they can KICK you out take your game and
you can never play it ever again ... its a 0/10
controllers
xbox one works great
playstation 3 works good
playstation 2 is a mess but can work
x-input devices .. total S* fest and real tough too make work
steam deck .. UMM .... yea that's a thing .. works but a hell ho;le
Amazing game with some serious flawed design choices. Character creation is very restrictive and basically non existent. You get to spend real money to unlock clothes for a very limited template you can unlock a few clothing items but very limited compared to something like SKATE. The main flaw however is it is now Impossible to get to Japan and Korea because the Road to the Olympics DLC is gone. That was like a third of the map. However this is still quite an amazing extreme sports game and there is nothing quite like it, probably one of the last really good ubisoft games.
i like this game. it has very good graphics. but i never seen an update
