I revisits this game every year the same time. This game helps with the itch, when all you want to do is hit the mountains and shred the season's first pow and pillows. This is your sign to go snowboarding! Cause i know i am when the mountains open 😎🤙
Tony Hawk Pro Skater>Skate 3 | SSX Tricky>Steep
I've played a LOT of extreme sport games/sims, and Steep is truly one of a kind.
A learning curve to get going but once your brain locks in to Steep's unique rhythm of managing speed, timing jumps/tricks, and lining up smooth landings it's buttery smooth and has no problem hooking me into a flow state.
And if technical challenges and time trials aren't your vibe I'd still recommend the game on sale. This game has been as cheap as $3 dawg anyone with a pulse could enjoy it for that price.
Turn the HUD off and load up some music and enjoy the ride.
One of the best games I played. If you are into mountain sports and want a game to play at home that captures a similar feeling of freedom and exploration, look no further.
great game super fun and realistic graphics
Great game for chill nights or if u want a low effort game to play. Sometimes it does get boring and it is confusing on figuring out how to progress sometimes. Overall really fun but has few flaws
This is great game with awesome graphics and different types of modes. You can complete different tasks, competitions or just freely ride the mountains on your chosen equipment, such as snowboard, ski, wingsuit e.t.c
Controls are good, easy to understand but hard to master especially when completing red missions which require very precise turns on high speeds. Game is similar in some way to skating games like Tony Hawk and is good fun!
I bought this game on sale for £5 and enjoying it a lot.
fucking awesome holy shit this shit is so awesome oh my god so awesome im like whoowee this is fire bro and i keep playing and i ski and then i sled and then i fucking die and its so awesome and im drunk and then i die and i die again in a race and i win its easy but then i go to a hard one and i lose and i go ski again and sled and the best game better than riders republic that game is ass

Very Good Graphics, Fun Game, Very Relaxing to take long rides, I played 6 hours and i'm ready to play 60
Steep (2016) – A Thrilling, High-Alpine Ride
If you’re into extreme sports and open-world exploration, Steep might just be one of the most underrated gems out there. Released by Ubisoft in 2016, this game immediately drew me in with its stunning visuals. Set against the raw, snow-covered landscapes of the Alps and Alaska, the graphics were a masterpiece for the time, and they still hold up well. The textures, lighting, and intense weather effects all combine to make the mountains look both inviting and intimidating, letting you feel the icy rush without leaving your room. I’d say it’s as close as you can get to shredding powder without strapping on an actual snowboard.
The game doesn’t just offer one way to get down the mountain, either. With skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying, and paragliding all available, Steep lets you pick and choose your sport based on the challenge you want. Each mode brings its own thrill, and switching between them is smooth and easy, adding a ton of freedom to the gameplay. Whether you’re weaving down narrow slopes, gliding from peak to peak, or launching into steep cliffside dives, Steep serves up fresh challenges on every run. It’s addictive—just finding new routes, beating records, and uncovering hidden spots keeps you coming back for more.
And let me tell you, this game gets intense. I can’t just play casually; every time I dive into Steep, I find myself aggressively gooning out of my Excalibur, ready to take on the next peak. There’s something about the speed, the flips, and the edge-of-your-seat moments that makes it impossible not to go all in. Steep is pure adrenaline, and if you’re someone who loves pushing limits, you’ll know exactly what I mean. This game has a way of drawing you in with its beauty and keeping you there with its insane rush, making it an absolute must-play for any sports game fan.
got it yesterday, very good, loaded instantly, i also got riders republic yesterday - it didnt launch
steep 10/10
riders republic ?/10
I absolutely love this game. It's incredibly meditative and peaceful. I love skiing and snowboarding in real life in the winter, in the mountains or where there is snow and I miss it in the warm periods of my life when there is no snow and it is terribly hot all around
Better than riders republic and defo worth it bought it on multiple platforms as sadly no cross-platform but honestly i don't regret a thing this is the good side of ubisoft we desperately need more of
Really fun game to play with or without friends, but nothing beats running some sick lines with other people.
fire peak amazing daddy father good graphics +spotify
It is very fun. Good graphics
It's an amazing game, it's good for relaxing or an extreme time, I listen to my Spotify playlist and do some tricks while having fun.
I remember playing this on PlayStation whenever I was a kid, and the game feels exactly the same as it did when I was a child, it's like Skate 3 if It's in snowy mountains
Amazin game but first person doesn't work on pc. They say that you have to press C but that only puts you in exploration mode and ride mode, not first person mode
great game but i bought like $30 worth of DLC and now ubisoft is saying i dont own the game or dlcs and customer support is useless. wont let me refund or anything.
One of the last great games to be made by Ubi....it'll never get a sequel so grab it while the servers are still up.
#MakeUbiGreatAgain
this game is genuinely one of the most immersive experiences ive ever played, even if your not into snowboarding just like im not i still would highly recommend this game to you. going like 60+MPH on a snowboard down a huge mountain is certainly a adrenaline rising very fun experience. very well optimized on the performance aswell (rare for a ubisoft game)
its base price is pretty expensive but when it goes on sale from what ive seen its always very cheap
HIGHLY recommend!!
Great game, played 15 hours but now the game cant verify i own it, and the button to contact customer support wont work either... dont buy, doesnt work on more than one device
I did not expected that this game would be so good.
It has
amazing graphics, very good Gameplay and good world.
Probably best Ubisoft game that they made in past few years
Always loved to play this game, I love Riders Republic too, but something about Steep makes me feel nostalgic, which I can't even explain.. really enjoyed the challenges and the slopes, though the servers are dead now, but this always makes me go back to my old days when i used to come back from school and played it for hours :),
Stop making crap games and bring back these kind of masterpieces,
NO ONE IS GONNA LOVE "ASSASSIN'S CREED : SHADOWS" lol
I was super excited as an ssx superfan but this game has been frustrating as hell as a one handed person. Key mapping is unaffective, playing with my one handed xbox controller sucks and trying to button map that has sucked too. Such a shame when I can throw 1000s of hours into SSX style games but I feel like this is just another live service F.
TLDL: Forced always online singleplayer, ubisoft, don't buy, not even on sale.
The game can be fun at times, but there's way too much wrong with.
- There's no camera control when you're riding anything, as the right stick is used as a "random movement" input instead, which doesn't improve anything and makes first person riding impossible
- Half the time, the character does what he wants, there's barely any control over landings so you're gonna be spending half the game waiting for this dude to stop laying face down in the snow
- It's an ubisoft game
- The X/Square button has been repurposed to a "cockiest/stupidest voice line you've ever heard" button, which doesn't really help in a game that barely gives you any control over anything to begin with.
- There's constant cutscenes and people talking to you, there is no option to simply enjoy riding around the landscape, you're always being forced to listen to horrible dialogue
- It's overly complex in places that should be simple, and it's too simple in places where complexity would've been fun.
When you actually do get to ride for a while, it can be fun, despite the ocean of problems this game has, but there's too much garbage to go through until you reach those short moments of enjoyment.
- It's an ubisoft game
This review has been sponsored by Red Bull™, just like every single snowflake in this game.
maybe it is me but the vibes are cool, the graphics are pretty clear and good.
But i think the controls suck of this game.
A lot of tricks happen by accident or after times of retrying the same shit over and over again.
Remember Tony Hawk's pro skater? That was a game where i felt like i was in control.
Still even with these frustrations i think this game is fun to play from time to time.
I would not recommend this to everyone tho.
If you think you have a new SSX Tricky or a next level Tony Hawk or perhaps a Shaun White game then you are wrong because it does not have the same feeling as those games.
What you do end up with is something in the middle.
It is nowhere a brilliant game but it is still a good time to waste.
If i would have to rate this i would give this game about 7 out of 10 points.
So is this recommended?
Only if the price is right.
RECOMMENDED. (somewhat)
Best game to play at night bc it gives chills and also i hope it never dies :D
Been playing this game on and off, and I enjoy it quite a lot.
One of my favorite games to play.
For sure some elements are rather unrealistic, but I think that it makes the game more fun. If there is another version coming out in the future, maybe some movements could be more realistic, some more tricks and challenges added.
Great character customizability, good selections of sports disciplines, different mountain ranges. I love the different challenges, etc. Fantastic game. Different boards to choose from.
I would highly recommend this game to others.
Very fun, good graphics, lots to explore
fantastic game fr. if your controller isnt working go and change the preset layout thing to a steep one and it should be fixed 8.7/10 game just if the controller support was better it could be a 10
Great game, attention to detail. Great graphics, and good optimisation.
my guy dies over going over the smallest rock and pulling 2Gs and then does a quad backflip 1080 pulling more than 200Gs and has a tiny scratch great game
"There was a problem authenticating ownership of this product. Please contact ubisoft support."
Purchased this in 2018 with all dlc that's over $100 in total and I cant even start the game
Very beautiful game. Wish they would still update it.
Steep™ Review
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Overview: Released in 2016 by Ubisoft, Steep™ is an open-world extreme sports game that immerses players in the breathtaking landscapes of the Alps and Alaska. The game allows players to engage in various winter sports, including skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying, and paragliding. With a focus on exploration and community challenges, Steep™ aims to deliver a unique and exhilarating experience for extreme sports enthusiasts.
Gameplay
Open-World Exploration: Steep™ features a vast, seamless open world that invites players to explore stunning mountain ranges. The environments are beautifully rendered, with attention to detail that captures the majesty of the mountains. Players can freely roam, discovering new areas, challenges, and scenic spots, which encourages a sense of adventure and exploration.
Variety of Sports: The game offers a diverse range of sports, allowing players to switch between skiing, snowboarding, and aerial sports seamlessly. Each sport has its own mechanics, providing a different gameplay experience. The controls are generally responsive, but mastering tricks and techniques can require practice, adding depth to the gameplay.
Challenges and Events: Steep™ includes a plethora of challenges, from racing down slopes to completing trick contests. Players can also participate in community events, which keep the gameplay fresh and encourage competition. The asynchronous multiplayer aspect allows you to see and compete against the ghost runs of friends and other players, adding a social layer to the experience.
Graphics and Performance
Visual Quality: The game boasts impressive graphics, with lush environments and dynamic weather effects that enhance immersion. The visuals capture the beauty of winter sports and the landscapes perfectly, making every descent feel thrilling. Snow physics are particularly noteworthy, as they respond realistically to player actions, adding to the authenticity of the experience.

Sound and Audio
The audio design complements the gameplay effectively, featuring a dynamic soundtrack that adapts to the action. Sound effects for snow crunching, wind, and the rush of speed create an immersive atmosphere. The game’s ambient sounds enhance the overall experience, drawing players deeper into the snowy landscapes.

Conclusion
Final Thoughts: Steep™ delivers an exhilarating and visually stunning experience that captures the thrill of extreme winter sports. Its emphasis on exploration, diverse gameplay, and community challenges make it a standout title in the genre. While some players may find the controls a bit challenging at first, the rewards of mastering the sports are well worth the effort.
Overall Recommendation: For fans of extreme sports and open-world exploration, Steep™ is a must-play. Its beautiful environments, engaging gameplay, and community-driven features provide hours of enjoyment, making it a memorable entry in the genre.
Love the game if the DLCS are on sale get the fs
Very fun to chill and explore. Also the playground is massive
this game is a fucking blast it’s 8 years old and there’s still love and support and is one of the best extreme sports game ever made probably
skiing, snowboarding, parachuting etc. off a big mountain. Nothing else to it. Excellent game.
I fucking love Steep and winter sports.
We need a Steep 2 not a Riders Republic.
Hands down of my favourite games of all time.
amazing game, graphics are ahead of its time.
I've had Steep for a long time on Uplay/Ubisoft Connect, but I didn't have any of the DLCs. The game is quite enjoyable even without them. The DLCs add challenges (you have more than a hundred challenges without them), a few additional sports (you could get plenty of fun with just snowboarding/wingsuiting), a quick access to the Japanese map (which costs 100 000 in-game credits that can be piled after about 7 hours of doing challenges) and a ton of cosmetics for which I don't care. The game was on sale for 6 EUR with all the DLCs included here, and I would also be able to leave a review (something that I can't do by having the game on Uplay/Ubisoft Connect alone; I still cannot give my praises to Ghost Recon: Wildlands/Breakpoint because of this reason). Good news for people like me: the save files of the two versions (Uplay/Ubisoft Connect vs. Steam) are compatible, i.e. all my progress got carried over and I didn't have to start the game from the tutorial.
Speaking of other Ubisoft games... most of them are made on the proprietary engine, called Ubisoft Anvil. In my opinion, Anvil completely shines in this game. It feels like it was made for this particular game. As people like me (i.e. who played and enjoyed hundreds of hours in Wildlands & Breakpoint) know, it runs very smooth and is very pretty (and is a little bit cartoony, which is why I don't like Rainbow Six Siege).
This game reminds me of my time with Cool Boarders 2001 on my old PSOne (it was like THPS/2, but with snowboarding — very fun times). It also brings back my memories when I had the privilege to practice a couple of wintersports (snowboarding & skiing) on a few occasions IRL (they are generally not meant for poor people like me; the wintersports infrastructure (ran/"managed" by mostly scammers who rely on robbing tourists and yourself) and your proximity to a mountain is also a big barrier). The game also allows you to walk on foot, which is neat. Interesting fact: there's a roleplay community of hikers/climbers who climb peaks in groups (check the Steep subreddit for more information). Speaking of which, Steep is fundamentally designed to be a social experience and requires an internet connection. Having being released in 2016, it is now almost eight years old and, unfortunately, it will probably be crippled (if not destroyed) by Ubisoft (i.e. its servers would probably be shut down at some point (there are lots of licensed stuff (Salomon, K2, etc.), which will also prevent them to sell the game at some point)), leaving you only able to free roam without the capability to do challenges. This is saddening. However, if you appreciate the beauty of winter sports and have a soft spot for snowy environments like me, and if you can spare 6 EUR during a sale, don't hesitate — you will have a good amount of fun.
I'll definitely try Riders Republic at some point.
I was expecting something a little more interesting game-play wise. It brags about open world play but it's not interesting to play in the open world so you might as well go to a pre-defined challenge. The controls are clunky, the tricks and excitement level while doing them are limited. The graphics were pretty underwhelming for a game that was supposed to feature amazing scenery. The install size is massive. Of course you're completely nerfed as to what hills you can visit at first and it seems like 90% of the gameplay is behind DLCs anyway. Half the game is just ads for the DLC
Even on sale for $6 it was not really worth it in my mind.
YES. this game is by far the best ubisoft game ever made. no dlc needed. no microtransaction. you get a perfect game out of the package.
The even better thing is that grinding isn't even needed. You want to reach the top of the mountain but can't teleport because your level is too low to tele that high? Just use the jetpack. Take a little while but it's an option.
This is not mentioning that it's an amazing game with superior graphics that will make you question the quality of your pc (in a good way)
If you ever played Shaun White Snowboarding then this is the perfect sequel with more extreme sports.
Also it's usually on sale and it dirt cheap so that a huge +
As addictive as it is realistic. No matter if you're looking for a fast paced dash down the mountain or if you're just looking to chill out with the flow of the snow, this game builds on some of the greats from when I was growing up like SSX and puts right modern touch to the formula. It features expected sports like skiing & sledding, but also includes crazier options including a jet pack.
Fingers crossed for a sequel or more expansions down the road even if it has been a while since the last, because adding a couple more mountains alone would add a big boost to the replay value. This game was worth the price at launch & I'd especially encourage anyone to grab it when it's commonly on sale with all the DLC.
As a proud member of steep community that still plays, i highly recommend this game if you are looking for a relaxing experience.
Steep is obviously not made with keyboards in mind and is most definitely not the best optimised port but it’s still playable if you’re patient.
The game is also very lacklustre with directions on how to do things which often means you have to think for yourself or search for basic tutorials.
The game despite being good is still eight years old and it shows.
I still find it very pleasing to the eye despite Steep showing it’s age.
The sense of speed you feel when traversing the snow covered landscape is insane but you can’t not love the sudden *THUD* once you plow into a rock or the trees!
The rag doll physics are very exaggerated though since you can sometimes fall down a whole damn hill and just brush the snow off your shoulders as if you didn’t just break every bone possible and suffer paralysis whereas other times the tiniest knock can leave you unconscious on the slopes.
The game is honestly satisfying when you successfully land a jump or smoothly grind a rail although keyboard makes it quite difficult at times but that aside it is doable and thankfully all key bindings are changeable.
I will now conclude this review by saying that I know how niche this game is and it may not appeal to all but still worth a play at least once but certainly never at full price as charging nearly $45 at full price for an eight year old game is honestly ridiculous.
By far the best game I've ever played! The game has AMAZING graphics. Also fun and chill "tasks" but also some harder ones for those who want a real challenge. You can also just chill and ride or fly around the mountains. Great experience and super fun! I don't know if its worth the full price tho, because I got Steep - X-Games Gold Edition for only 5.99€! If its on sale definitely buy it tho!
