this game is beyond awful! It's controls are something out of the 80's and you can't change key assignments to what most games use I really tried to like this game it had promise but not the way the controls are

This is a shitty console port. Do not purchase. Complete waste of money even at 85% sale.

I got this on the $0.89 sale, and I couldn't be bothered to finish the first level.
There are games much older than this, that are still fun to play. The problem with this game, is it hits the bucket list of the shooters of the time, but does none of them well.
The only thing that it does okay, is its destructible environments. Pretty good for the time, boxes and wooden walls rip apart satisfyingly under fire, and there's usually enough explosive barrels/objects around for that classic instant kill.
There is a scene early on, where you take down a Hind, and it does the typical helicopter death spiral, and comes crashing down towards you. I sat there watching it, expecting it to fly off-screen, realizing too late, it was coming down on my head, bringing beams and parts of the building with it.

Nothing else works.
The gunfire sound is hilariously bad, literally made me guffaw out loud when I fired my first shots. You also can only carry two guns, with no option of picking up another weapon to try something new [At least not for the majority of the first mission].
The AI is nothing special at best, and do nothing but take cover, shoot at you, or stare at you. Several times I came around a corner and ran into the AI, and they stop and stare at you for way too long, as if not sure what to do about you.
[I love how these soldiers in an actual military combat situation yell at you to "Stop right there!", or "Hold it!", as if they are police officers]
Your AI companion is easy to order around with just a button press to go to spot/do a scripted thing at a spot, or button hold to stay with you. It does their job fine, considering there isn't much they need to do against the unsure enemy but return fire, try and stay in cover, and be a backup character to switch to in case you go down.

This is good fodder if you're a Youtuber needing a bad game to play for content. As someone who does not get paid to play crap games and riff, I genuinely had more fun writing this review, than I did with my time playing it.

One of the absolute worst FPS games I have ever played; and this is coming from someone who's played through City Interactive's entire back catalogue.

Why are completely broken games still allowed to be sold? Any settings but the lowest ones give me black screen and every time I get hit by an enemy the game stops for 1 to ~6 seconds.

It's not worth it even on sale... i've played very bad games but this one pfff... waaaay over the top of the first one on the list... if i buy a bad game or i don't like it i don't refund, paid 1 euro on this one but i whish i could, you feel better if you give that 1 euro to a homeless guy and he buys alcohol... i don't even like to give negative review's on games but damn... at this one everything is bad... just awful bad... don't trust me try it for yourself... you've been warned

It is a dumb old-school shooter with dumb over-the-top voice lines and action with very dumb AI. So don't expect much just turn off your mind and enjoy the dumb shooting.

Oh I had to turn off the microphone in windows because no sound on my headset without it. Wierd, but this is an old game, this is just a small hickup

I played this game for the nostalgy of having played Conflict Desert Storm I, II and Conflict Vietnam back on PS2.

This one doesn't hold a candle to any of those, and you're better off skipping it and watching videos of the older ones.

I play for the story and rescue Foley.

They quite literally removed every feature they have created over the years. Literally every single one.

And what did they replace all the removed content with? NOTHING. Literally nothing. This wouldnt even be impressive as a phone game! The maps are artificially mazed-out with only one route. As if i was playing house of the dead or something... Nothing is more frustrating than being in the middle of a street inside a city map with the game telling you to go 180meters west, but you cant go 180meters west because every alleyway is blocked. You need to find the one secret door in the entire level that magically became unlocked after killing the last enemy! THE WHOLE GAME IS LITERALLY THAT WHAT I JUST DESCRIBED! Yes the whole thing! The previous entries were not like that. In fact they were the polar opposite of that. open and tactical and realistic and mature.

Now you just aim and shoot. You have infinite ammo. Theres only 2 guns in the entire game. i have never witnessed something so embarassing.

And not even anything was improved either, you can immediately feel that its the same conflict game engine just with most things stripped. Honestly it feels just as clunky and strange as the combat in all the previous games did... But it made sense in those games because those were actual good games with a ton to do. The game engine still buckles whenever you come face to face with an enemy. You never know what will occur in those situations but you can bet on dying.

the loot rooms where you got to take a break with your squad was my favorite part of the conflict series, this is where i would pack a tactical bowl. In this game you cant even pick up the enemies AK!

and you literally have infinite ammo!

and enemies do wildly varying damages to you at different times its so weird

Doesn't live up to the quality set by previous Conflict games
