ive been playing vail for a while with breakes... big brakes however i hate what they did with making the main game a dlc and for statistics saying its free to play even worse i think is how they made it obtainable for free why tf did i pay for this if now you can just collect a bit of idk what and just get it seems unfair and like a horrible idea towords players that have been playing for a while and is not exactly helping with the children under the age of 10 problem that got way out of hand since the quest release already overall rn i would say dont support this stuff people need to kinda set a sign that this isnt ok to do just buy pavlov we need to revive the pc servers anyway

great game but i think the thing that killed it was the monetization strategy. it should have been free to play from the get go with purchasable skins. i think too many people saw this sort of niche indie competitive live service shooter and thought no way am i putting down $20 for something like this. the lack of players at the start of this games release because of the price point caused the inevitable player base bleedout that all competitive games suffer to happen earlier since most of the player base from the get go was very competitive. this led to people with 0 hours in the game being paired with people who had hundreds of hours in the game and subsequently saying fuck this i dont feel like being shit on. this happens to all competitive games eventually but the initial small player base due to the price caused this early on. sad to see really.

This game is amazing. I'm 100% sure of recommending this game. The physics and weapons are amazing. The weapons are so fun to use. In my perspective, Vail VR does have its funny moments. A bad part is that Vail VR does cost a lot of money, I wish it was a little less (around $15). The price doesn't really matter much because this game is absolutely amazing. Overall, if you have enough money, you should 100% buy this game.

There are four things that I suggest Vail VR could add.
1. Better colliders: Vail VR should have collider physics similar to Bonelab. As in when you lay your arm at a wall in Vail VR your whole arm goes through. I think it should press against the wall instead of your arm going through it.
2. Vail VR should add punching. Just in case you through and waste your knife, you should be able to punch people while your waiting for your knife to respawn.
3. More gore: Again Vail VR should make their gore more like Bonelab. Vail VR should add a setting asking if the player wants gore or not.
4. Better ragdoll: As soon as you die in Vail VR your death ragdoll is the ragdoll doesn't look great. I suggest that Vail VR should have a more realistic ragdoll.

Challenging to get into. match making is cooked since its a small community. so getting into it can be hard because most players are really good. it took me 10 hours before i started to enjoy the game because i wasn't getting killed as much and started killing people. so if you wanna play this game you gotta commit several hours before it'll be fun. before that its just miserable.

I see a few reviews outright complaining about the recent release of the Citadel as a free version of vail, with the full matchmaking actually locked behind a 20$ USD paywall.
While these fools complain about it, it is actually a genius marketing tactic, for these reasons:

1. Anyone who bought the original Vail game still retained "Vail Combat" for free.
2. The new "free" price tag draws players to the game, allowing them to test the mechanics and experiment with the feel of the game before paying for it.

Nobody should be complaining about this. I get that sometimes money is scarce but if you're already rocking a full vr headset you're definitely not pinching pennies. The fact that you have to pay a one time fee to get full access to the competitive side of the game is a literal blessing. The 20$ keeps all of the squeaky 11 year old quest players out of competitive lobbies that are genuinely trying to have a fun, fair game.
Furthermore, I've been playing Vail on and off for a good while now, and am by no means a sweat or pro, but I personally spent a good 2-3 hours playing the Citadel's Pit mode when it first released, as well as queuing up for 1v1s. The Citadel is amazing work for a free tag, and you guys complain that it's "just like Destiny 2." It's not. This update benefits the whole player base unconditionally.

VAIL is a great game which usually has a great community, and I'm sure plenty of people have talked about how great the guns in this game are, I personally really love the scopes. It definitely has a few issues, though; which may entirely be personal problems, I'm not quite sure-- but I would like to address them just to yap.

1. This game is absolutely not made for vive wands. Now I know no sane person uses vive wands anymore, but it's all I have, and playing with them sucks because apparently you have to hold guns in front of your face to aim them, and these bitches are in fact, very heavy. Also, the UI is really dark on low-end headsets, making it impossible to see buttons like Exit Party, which is incredibly inconvenient
2. I am a girl, and this is an FPS game. The second I make one noise on VC, I'm bombarded with either "Make me a sandwich, harlot"s or men who don't seem to be able to comprehend what the AoC is. And I know I could just mute VC, or I could suck it up and deal with it; but frankly, my internal hardware/birth defect isn't my fault, so I am not going to act like it is.
2.5 There are A LOT of kids on this game, which isn't as big of an issue if you don't suck or you don't care about your fragile little ego.

Overall, however, it's a great game. If you don't have bad controllers or a feminine voice, I'd highly recommend it.

I have been following this game's production for a while now, and throughout the creation process, the devs have only made the right decisions. I am very exited to see what's to come in the future.

The shooting mechanics in this game are some of the best I’ve experienced in VR—smooth, precise, and incredibly satisfying, some what simplified for fast action
That said, the Artifact (defuse mode) player-base is really low. It’s a shame because the mode has potential, but good luck finishing a full lobby before they all rage quit.

As for the 'Free to Play' demo... yeah, I’m not a fan. It feels misleading but it does a great job of attracting new players (quest kids) or at least letting them properly try the game before buying. Thankfully, I bought it before this decision, so it doesn’t impact me directly

There is something about this game keeps me coming back for more. On paper it really is no different to a lot of VR shooters but it feels so good. Fantastic guns and control, nades feel good too. This is the best out there atm for me. Excellent.

I have played VAIL for 100 hours on my quest and 20 on my pc and here is what I think: Vail is a competitive shooter and that is a understatement, this game will test your skill and endurance. It has great gun mechanics that are true to life, the gun system is one of the main features of this game. New updates: a lot of new game updates are bad and inconsistent and I would say that VAIL falls into that category slightly. Overall great game, 89/100

This game is something special. Besides HL Alyx, i have not been able to find gun mechanics/physics as good as this game. Honestly, if aexlab licensed their gun code/physics to other vr games with guns, we would be blessed. Like most VR games, it comes from a small studio, but they are continually working on the game, introducing new content and updates. It isn't hard to find a match. As of Dec 2024, there are a fresh stream of players with crossplay happening (steamvr/quest). Does it need work? sure. Competitive shooters are always evolving. The discord community is active, friendly and helpful. Many dedicated players are actively giving feedback between the devs on changes/updates they wish to see. The future looks bright. I hope aexlab will grow and we can get more great updates.

Best guns of any vr game imo and more progression than some other vr shooters. Vail's progression does not take long to max out though leaving you with nothing else to work towards in the game.

I had and played vail for a little while, I am not an og but I can say that I was around for long enough to say that Vail made a mistake pushing it out to the quest 2 and 3. Just like Onward did, the graphics changed a little and now lobbies are flooded with little kids. I wish Vail stayed a pc only title but there decision. Gun play is fine, but if you want to incounter little kids under the age of 11 every game, I would not buy. If you want gun play that's i'm ngl mid, get it. But I don't recommend.
