After many years I come back to the game and still have good fun with cool frends.
my brother first showed me this game many years ago and now im a REALLY big fan of cs and the valve franchise itself
CS 1.6 is where it all began.
Pure, fast, and skill-based — no extras, just classic competitive gameplay that never gets old.
I have barely played this game, and I will probably not play it again, because of a specific mod.
#AllowClassicOffensive
Without the two genius on modding Half-Life for this, this hasn't born.
Better than CS2: you need only skills and fun time with friends.
Played this back in the 90's and im happy to say that community and servers are still alive and well. An absolute classic that will never disappoint
Counter-Strike 1.6 is not just a game — it’s childhood.
It was the best thing back then, and it’s still alive today. Now the servers are full of 30–40-year-old players, but the feeling remains the same — like a little island of freedom from the past.
Dust2x2, Pool Day, Aztec — those maps were more than maps. They were memories.
Even now, it’s still fun, still real, and still one of the greatest games ever made.
pure fucking swagness, every hour spent in this game increases your aura and room presence drastically
I remember the first time I played Counter-Strike.
It was the year 2000.
I was six years old — too young to understand strategy, too young to understand competition — but somehow just the right age to fall in love with chaos.
That day, my cousin showed me a dusty PC in a smoky internet café.
A CRT monitor flickered. A mouse too big for my hand.
But it wasn’t just a game.
It was my first battle.
He loaded up de_dust, and suddenly, the world outside — the noise, the crowds, the slow passage of real life — faded into nothing.
There were no big cutscenes, no heroes.
Just me, a Desert Eagle, and an objective I barely understood.
I wasn’t just playing.
I was fighting.
And then came the countless hours.
Headphones crackling with radio commands.
My heart racing with every corner I peeked.
Maps that became burned into my brain — the feel of them, not just the look.
I didn’t need tutorials.
We learned by losing.
By fumbling flashbangs and mistiming bomb plants.
By laughing at every terrible mistake and swearing we’d get it right next time.
Sometimes my father would peek into the room,
watching me shout at a screen filled with pixelated soldiers.
He didn’t understand why I cared so much about a digital bomb ticking down.
But he let me have that world.
A place where mistakes had a "restart" button.
Where battles could be won with practice, not just luck.
Now, two decades later, I still come back.
The graphics are ancient.
The servers mostly abandoned.
The hitboxes feel like ghosts compared to what games are now.
But something inside Counter-Strike still breathes.
Every footstep on old concrete.
Every panicked spray of bullets.
Every dusty corridor, whispering memories from a time when everything felt new and impossible and alive.
Counter-Strike isn’t just a shooter.
It’s a fossil from a younger Earth.
It’s a monument to when games weren’t about battle passes or daily challenges—
just pure, raw, imperfect competition.
And as I buy armor and a defusal kit one more time,
as I run through the same broken hallways I knew before I even knew what nostalgia was,
I remain there.
Hand on the mouse...
And a tear I cannot quite name—
whether it’s loss, or gratitude.
The game IS good, it's just you can't find any servers that aren't professional, empty, or you get kicked from right as you join.
yes yes very cool mlekcetata na mama didi on top. ZA BOLGAWIQQQQQQQQQQ :steamhappy:
To me, Counter-Strike 1.6 remains one of the greatest games ever made. It wasn't just a game - it was an era, a vibe, and a shared experience that still resonates deeply with me. I’ll never forget the first time I saw a friend playing on de_aztec - my eyes lit up with pure excitement. And of course, who could forget the legendary de_dust2? That map is etched into the memory of every player who grew up in that golden age.
Even after playing every single Counter-Strike title that came after, 1.6 holds a special place in my heart. The newer versions might be more polished, with shinier graphics and modern features, but the raw, competitive spirit of Counter-Strike lives in its original form. There was something magical about the simplicity, the strategy, and the intense teamplay.
Back then, before Discord became the norm, we had our trusty tools - mIRC, Ventrilo, and Teamspeak. These platforms were the lifelines of team coordination, trash talk, and camaraderie. It was all part of the experience, and it made the matches even more memorable.
Counter-Strike 1.6 wasn't just a game - it was the start of something incredible. And for me, it always will be.
Classic FPS. For me it's way better than the latest installments of the game.
CS 1.6 – A Classic I Respect, Even If It Wasn’t My Main Game
Back in the day, while most of my friends were deep into Counter-Strike 1.6, I was busy fragging in Unreal Tournament and Quake III Arena. Fast-paced, arena-style shooters were more my thing. But even then, I couldn’t ignore the impact of CS 1.6—it was everywhere.
Now, years later, I still wouldn’t call myself a die-hard fan, but I’ve got nothing but respect for the game. It’s a true legend. And honestly? Playing it with coworkers at the office from time to time is a blast. There’s a certain charm in its simplicity and old-school feel that still holds up.
CS 1.6 may not have been my game growing up, but I totally get why it’s a cult classic.
Its really addicting and nostalgic and it is nice buying it after years of pirating it, this game used to be the hype in 2012-2016, there wasnt a single laptop in our house that didnt have it. my older brothers first instinct was always to download counter strike. its even more fun 1v1 your friends.
Classic game, brings back so many memories.
In what other game can you join a server with everyone speaking Bulgarian and one player named "Glory to Ukraine"
My childhood game. Great memories alongside broken monitors!
best game ever way better than cs2
switch from cs2 to cs1 pls
Even without mods and plugins its way better than I remember. Way less clunkier than todays games, it feels snappy, TIGHT to play this. The atmosphere is something else that haven't been matched in any other game. A mist between arcade and realism.
I don't play this game but the SOUNDS. The Sounds are so good, it is unbelivable.
сама крута игра если слабый пк советую раньше хател в кс го поиграть но слабый пк был и в ету игру играл у меня шас норм пк но все равно в эту играю потому што скачиватьс ядолга будет интернет плахой кароче имба игра всем саветую
There are two types of people:
1. Those who played CS 1.6
2. Those who didn't (Liars)
Everyone played this game, especially at internet cafe's using LAN. Even my old IT teacher let us play CS 1.6 against each other in school.
10/10 (way more enjoyable than CS2)
Still a pretty decent game, however the only thing it really prevails at anymore is its nostalgia factor which keeps me coming back. The funny thing is its probably better than CS2 at this point. Still worth the buy though.
pretty good game, just full of mexicans and old dudes
It is an amazing game even now, although with relatively bad graphics, the teammates' radio and the gun types all made this game realistic and enjoyable

its a really good game and fun really but there is one thing.... They are cheating and rebellious, and chaos is prevailing everywhere and any server is full😐😐😐
Great fucking game i think css is a bit better but amazing
Best game of all time. Low system requirements, highly competitive. Good fun with friends.
Cheaters are the main problem
Good Game if you find good community and servers.
Rating: 8.5/10
Counter-Strike 1.6 is the FPS that defined competitive shooters, setting the foundation for tactical gameplay and esports. Its fast-paced, skill-driven mechanics make every kill satisfying, and its legendary maps—Dust2, Inferno, Nuke—are still among the best in the genre.
The gunplay is tight, with a high skill ceiling due to unique recoil patterns and movement mechanics like strafing and bunny-hopping. However, it’s also brutally unforgiving, making it difficult for new players to get into. Graphics are obviously outdated, but the simplicity keeps the focus on gameplay rather than flashy visuals.
That said, CS 1.6 isn’t without flaws. Hit registration can feel inconsistent, and cheaters were always a problem in public servers. The lack of built-in matchmaking means finding balanced games relies on third-party services.
Despite its age, Counter-Strike 1.6 remains a nostalgic and highly competitive shooter. While CS:GO and CS2 have modernized the formula, this classic still holds up for those who appreciate raw, no-frills FPS action.
atleast it’s not so competitive like Counter Strike: Global Offensive/Counter Strike 2. Overall it’s a fun game if you want a classic experience and a game that is able to run on a 1979 computer
This game is fun mainly because of the mods and the fact that the servers are still alive. At evenings most servers are full too. Good to see a 24 year game still healthy with a consistent player count.
Runs well, stable 93fps with my ultra high end pc so i really think you should play it and get rekt
Best Counter-Strike game in the series. It have a big community after 24 years and it's still fun. Definitely a 10/10
it's a nice game with so much servers to play on,i recommend this game,10/10
The Classic That Defined Tactical FPS
Let’s talk about the original Counter-Strike. This is the one that started it all, the game that completely changed the world of competitive shooters. I don’t care if we’re talking about CS 1.6, Source, or Global Offensive, if you haven’t played the original, you’re missing out on a piece of FPS history.
Counter-Strike is a milestone in gaming. It’s one of the most influential shooters of all time, and you can trace so many modern FPS games back to it. Without Counter-Strike, we wouldn’t have CS 1.6, Source, or Global Offensive. It set the bar for what a competitive tactical shooter should be, and to this day, it’s still a reference point for game developers.
First off, Counter-Strike is one of the most intense and rewarding tactical shooters ever made. It’s all about teamwork, strategy, and precise gunplay. No respawns, limited ammo, and you’re dead if you don’t play smart. Every round is a high-stakes gamble—do you save your money for the next round or buy the best gear and go all-in? Do you rush in to plant the bomb, or do you wait for your teammates to secure the area?
Unlike the more run-and-gun style of games today, Counter-Strike is methodical. It rewards patience, positioning, and perfect aim. This is the game that made me love tactical FPSes, and honestly, even with all the new shooters out there, this one still holds up in terms of sheer intensity.
It’s the maps that really make Counter-Strike stand out. Dust, Office, Inferno—these maps are all etched in FPS history. There’s something about the simplicity of the design, the tight corners, the choke points, and the strategic depth they offer. These maps are the backbone of competitive play, and they hold up as well as ever.
The gunplay? Absolutely legendary. Every weapon feels distinct, and there’s a weight to each shot. The AWP is still a terror to deal with, and the sound of a well-placed headshot with a Desert Eagle? Satisfying as hell.
Here’s the thing: Counter-Strike was the game that made modding huge. Tons of custom maps, mods, and servers kept the community engaged long after the initial release. If you’ve never played on a zombie server, a deathmatch, or a hostage rescue mission with a twist, you’re missing out on some of the best CS experiences.
The community was (and still is) one of the best parts of the game. Sure, you’ve got toxic players, but when you’re teamed up with people who know the game, the teamwork and communication is absolutely next level. Whether you’re playing with friends or randoms, the thrill of a well-coordinated bomb plant or an epic clutch still feels amazing.
It’s impossible to talk about Counter-Strike without talking about the nostalgia. The old-school graphics? Yeah, they’re pretty dated now, but there’s a certain charm to it. You can see the evolution of the series just by loading up this original. It’s rough around the edges, but that’s what makes it so special. There’s no hand-holding, no “aim assist,” and no flashy mechanics. It’s just you, your team, and the mission at hand.
For me, playing the original Counter-Strike is like stepping into a time machine. I remember countless hours spent grinding out my aim, learning maps, and just loving every moment. And even now, going back to it, there’s still something pure and exciting about it.
If you’re a fan of Counter-Strike at all, you owe it to yourself to play the original. It’s a no-frills experience that lets you see where everything began. The intensity, the strategy, the satisfaction of outsmarting the other team—it’s all here. Sure, it’s old, but it’s still one of the best shooters ever made. Whether you’re a nostalgia-driven veteran or a newcomer curious about FPS history, Counter-Strike will always hold a special place in the gaming world.
So, yeah, it’s a 10/10 from me. It’s timeless, classic, and a must-play for anyone who loves competitive gaming.
Revisiting my old memory with the zombie plague mod, even though it keep crashing but man if it fun when it does work.
cheaters some but good lol ofc
For an old game Counterstrike is a masterpiece. even after many years, the servers still active it's fun. 8/10

Review:
Counter-Strike 1.6 is the OG that defined competitive shooters and set the stage for modern esports. I’ve played a ton of shooters, but there’s just something about CS 1.6 that’s unmatched in terms of raw, skill-based gameplay. It’s a game that rewards precision, strategy, and team coordination like no other.
The gunplay feels so satisfying—each shot requires focus, and every movement feels important. There’s no gimmicky loadouts or perks; it’s all about your aim, positioning, and decision-making. The maps are classic, balanced, and have been tested in the fires of competition for years. If you’re serious about getting better, CS 1.6 is a game where every mistake feels like a lesson learned.
The esports scene around this game was massive and laid the foundation for the industry we know today. The competitive scene was pure—no distractions, just straight-up high-stakes action. If you want to experience the roots of modern FPS esports, this is where it all began.
Sure, the graphics are dated by today’s standards, but the gameplay is timeless. If you’re into competitive shooters, Counter-Strike 1.6 is a must. It’s all about skill, and it’s a game that’ll make you a better player no matter how long you’ve been playing shooters.
Pros:
Pure, skill-based gunplay
Timeless maps and mechanics
Perfect balance for competitive play
Legendary esports scene
Cons:
Outdated graphics
Can feel a bit clunky compared to more modern shooters
this is the best and most beautiful, captivating, booty cheek clenching, balls itching game i have ever played.
Some games come and go – but Counter-Strike 1.6 is forever. If you had a PC in the early 2000s, chances are you spent countless hours on this game. Late-night LAN parties, intense 1v1 duels on de_dust2, and the legendary “Rush B, no stop!” – CS 1.6 wasn’t just a shooter; it was a way of life.
The gameplay? Simple but unforgiving. No fancy mechanics, no random luck – just you, your reflexes, and your team. Every round matters, every shot counts. And if you camp in the wrong spot with an AWP, you’ll pay the price.
Even after all these years, CS 1.6 hasn’t lost its magic. Sure, the graphics are outdated, but the gunplay still feels insanely good. The maps are iconic, the sound design is unforgettable, and the community? Still active – sometimes toxic, but always passionate.
Whether you’re revisiting an old classic or experiencing FPS history for the first time – Counter-Strike 1.6 remains an absolute masterpiece.
10/10 – Because no other game has ruined more friendships (or keyboards).
game with guns that shoot and also people with some aswell hard to say not knowing but the sands of time are falling through my fingers so fast i cant even take a deep breathe without missing something or someone
The best Tactical FPS that was ever created. Playing since 2013, Still the G.O.A.T.
the steam version is very strange!, i didnt like/
but the game is legendary<3
