But like so many in the valve pack there's better ones to play and its not really my taste in games.
Its ok, but I find cs2 a bit better looking. Idk why they made it like this. On the plus side its really fast to download and there were no updates since i installed it so thats pretty sweet.

One of the best games ever created. Period. Counter strike 1.6 is a foundation game for most shooter games these days. Thanks to custom game modes such as superhero, war3craft, zombie, surf others I still come back to it from time to time.

Very community-oriented. CS2 is still lacking in its community made content, but it is slowly getting there. CS 1.6 fills that gap nicely, especially for those who are looking to get that feeling of nostalgia or are into old games in general.
Having said that, the shooting is very different from the Source/Source 2 engine games. It is much more "skill-required" than the source Counter-Strikes, as it punishes even the slightest of mistakes or inaccuracies. If you're of the "run and gun" variety and your favorite weapon in CS2 was the MP9 or P90, this game'll give you a reality check.
I used to play this masterpiece on some shady websites, but now the time has come—I bought this legendary title! It's a game that will probably still be talked about for many years to come. Even after all these years, there's something about it that always makes you want to come back and play.
I highly recommend it to everyone, especially if you find a good online server to play on.

unfortunately the fun maps that got hosted and had players , where you could urinate on people and drive vehicles and had silly laser weapons etc. is empty/dead.

I have very nostalgic memories of this game. Along with Minecraft, Half-Life, and Slender, this is the most nostalgic game ever made. I remember it like it was yesterday—the day I bought the pirated DVD of CS 1.5, which came with the Bot mod, because yes, the game didn’t have Bots natively. I didn’t even have internet access, and I played it on a tube monitor on my first computer, a Windows XP given to me by my mom’s boss.
I played this game so much, I’d stay up all night and go to school exhausted. I played each map thousands of times, and when I got older, I played against my friends in a LAN house. Oh, so many memories. I feel so happy remembering those moments, of people who are no longer here, of simpler times in life…
This game is a milestone in my life, and in the lives of millions of kids and adults. To Valve, Minh Le, and Jess Cliffe (the creators of the original mod), I extend my sincerest thanks. Thank you for this masterpiece, and for the great moments it provided for an entire generation.
Great alternative to css if you like the goldsrc style more or a more difficult aiming mechanic

It's wierd playing this game on steam after pirating it for 19 years.Nostalgic holds up well.
If i had a time, mood, and skill to play this... This would be my favorite game. But I'm useless, stupid, b**ch ass guy, so anyway, I rate it 9/10.

Has aged very well i think, sure, the engine is outdated but at least the gameplay is great! i've had a LOT of intense fights in office on on dust2, so overall, great game, MUST PLAY!!!

My childhood right here. I used to play this with my brother in computer shops whenever we go to our province (yes, computer and playstation shops are popular before).
Old but always a gold! This game will always be in my heart,why to pay for skins in CS2 when you have free skins in CS 1.6 anyway,and the are even somewhat better. In other words: I am pleased with the game.
Great campaign on cz. mp on csgo is a bit botted tho. Also i wish I was'nt slowed down if i got hit.

Vanilla CS 1.6 holds up okay but I only really play this game nowadays for Deathmatch and especially Zombie Plague mods which are still incredibly fun as they were nearly 20 years ago.

Playing CS about 20+ years. Best game ever for competition. Shooting here, in cs 1.6 is much more precise and hardcore then csgo and you can mastery your skill through decades.
Last time I played this game was in 2013, coming back in 2024 and its still fun. Imagine how good this game is!
