One of the best PC-based FPS games ever to me.
Not only because this is the first title that defined the old days of Counter-Strike for me since I was a kid, but the unforgettable and funny memories I had with this PC game.
I remember playing this on a good old Windows 98 computer with a decent internet connection thanks to my Mom and Dad.
I was blown away by how teamwork is required to succeed in most cases. Or how I spent some time playing team deathmatch online overnight without getting caught by my parents.
Overall, I give this game a solid 10 out of 10. It a masterpiece of art that should never be left behind or forgotten no matter how time flies by.
The best CS sure, but server browser is the illusion of choice and leads you to the same **** server. Use gametracker or something
Preview of action's in this product give crazy backup of start journey on several mod-pack's and a few moment's too more for existence mindself. Product was been evolved for a few updates and difference icon's so we show how many player's are in this game - everyday so we can do a match or group-match in old Counter world. It's amazing how this game few year's ago make popularity around the world between people of different age and make profit or waste in this awesome on-time.
Very good game, but most of the servers either have trojans or stuff that can harm your pc, and most of the server owners will start ddosing you for no reason at all. The game itself is a 10/10, the only safe servers are vanilla, besides that finding a modded zombie server with no owners ddosing u or mods without a trojan is pretty rare.
The online servers aren't responsive or just broken... I'm not sure. Only works if you've got (local) reliable servers in your area. Otherwise, it's pretty obsolete this game. Condition Zero is better.

Amazing classic, played it in middle school, played it in high school, played it in college, played it as a bachelor, played it as a husband, played it as a father. Never gets old, great community, great balance, great game-play.

Inaccurate and hard. Everyone as soon as you join a server demolishes you over and over until you leave.
You can't kill a guy when your crosshair is on their head but you can when you shoot 30 feet to the right.

It is trully incredible that most features of modern FPS games were already present on this early 2000's Half-Life mod. To be honest, most CS games have not improved much as this game remains at the peak of gameplay fluidity. Its competitive nature remains alive through its succesors and if you haven't played this classic you should as even after some low quality updates Counter-Strike 1.6 remains as one of the best games ever made.
Can't find any tdm or ffa servers, the first shot accuracy is horrible, but the game is great :)

Counter-Strike 1.6 holds a special place in my heart. I played it on my father’s Steam account when I was young, and it’s one of the games that truly got me into gaming. This game is fire. Love meeting 46 year old Russian dads that just came home from work and are drinking beer. My new friend Vlad is crazy at this game. Was invited to a party in Smolensk, however sadly couldn't attend.

But like so many in the valve pack there's better ones to play and its not really my taste in games.
Its ok, but I find cs2 a bit better looking. Idk why they made it like this. On the plus side its really fast to download and there were no updates since i installed it so thats pretty sweet.

One of the best games ever created. Period. Counter strike 1.6 is a foundation game for most shooter games these days. Thanks to custom game modes such as superhero, war3craft, zombie, surf others I still come back to it from time to time.

Very community-oriented. CS2 is still lacking in its community made content, but it is slowly getting there. CS 1.6 fills that gap nicely, especially for those who are looking to get that feeling of nostalgia or are into old games in general.
Having said that, the shooting is very different from the Source/Source 2 engine games. It is much more "skill-required" than the source Counter-Strikes, as it punishes even the slightest of mistakes or inaccuracies. If you're of the "run and gun" variety and your favorite weapon in CS2 was the MP9 or P90, this game'll give you a reality check.
I used to play this masterpiece on some shady websites, but now the time has come—I bought this legendary title! It's a game that will probably still be talked about for many years to come. Even after all these years, there's something about it that always makes you want to come back and play.
I highly recommend it to everyone, especially if you find a good online server to play on.

unfortunately the fun maps that got hosted and had players , where you could urinate on people and drive vehicles and had silly laser weapons etc. is empty/dead.
would still recommend it, since even the worst pc can run it.

I have very nostalgic memories of this game. Along with Minecraft, Half-Life, and Slender, this is the most nostalgic game ever made. I remember it like it was yesterday—the day I bought the pirated DVD of CS 1.5, which came with the Bot mod, because yes, the game didn’t have Bots natively. I didn’t even have internet access, and I played it on a tube monitor on my first computer, a Windows XP given to me by my mom’s boss.
I played this game so much, I’d stay up all night and go to school exhausted. I played each map thousands of times, and when I got older, I played against my friends in a LAN house. Oh, so many memories. I feel so happy remembering those moments, of people who are no longer here, of simpler times in life…
This game is a milestone in my life, and in the lives of millions of kids and adults. To Valve, Minh Le, and Jess Cliffe (the creators of the original mod), I extend my sincerest thanks. Thank you for this masterpiece, and for the great moments it provided for an entire generation.
Great alternative to css if you like the goldsrc style more or a more difficult aiming mechanic
