the graphics, the animations, the feel of this game is epic and beautifully retro
CS:CZ is a decent game if you know what you're getting into and buy it on sale or in a bundle. It really just offers a singleplayer Counter-Strike experience with a half-baked team selection system and new maps. The highlight of this game really was the new maps for me, and was the main thing that made the experience worth spending time on. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to get this game, but if you happen to get it in a Valve pack it's worth spending a couple hours on.
I would recommend this game to everyone like me without friend :( ..... Its a really simple shooting game but singleplayer .... I love this kinds of games... One annoying thing about it is when i die to a bot have to wait the whole game... Thankfully i found i way to get hat off your mind... When u die u just press the button above tab (aka "`" button) and type in the terminal : bot_kill ........ Have FUN! (totally recommended)
O jogo em si é basicamente cs 1.6 com bots, mas a Deleted Scenes é foda
10/10
an upgraded version of counter strike 1.6, so it MUST be good
Good game, dont play the campaign.
I played this game a ton when I was younger, like elementary school. It's a ton of fun, and because I wasn't that good at playing online at the time, it was a good way to practice. If you want some mindless fun for an hour or two, this is it.
Can't. Beat. The. Classic. With the 2024 anniversary upgrade, it's even better!
CSCZ is essentially a more polished and balanced version of CS 1.6. Love the fact that CS 1.6 contents are tied together to CSCZ, so it's like own everything in one pack.
Condition Zero is basically regular CS 1.6 with the only major difference being that you can choose the bots on your team. Deleted Scenes is slightly more interesting since it's a fleshed out single player campaign that has a pretty decent chunk of original maps. The issues however are insanely repetitive mission structure, surprising lack of weapon variety, nonsensical level design and agonizing stealth sections. It does occasionally manage to be fun, but overall It's just really really boring.
Played this solely because of Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes (and also finished it). I couldn't enjoy the game itself the same.
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Review – The Forgotten Middle Child
Platform: PC
Developer: Valve, Turtle Rock Studios, Gearbox Software
Release Date: March 23, 2004
Genre: Tactical First-Person Shooter
Introduction
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (CS:CZ) is a peculiar entry in the Counter-Strike series. Sandwiched between the iconic Counter-Strike 1.6 and the revolutionary Counter-Strike: Source, Condition Zero often feels like the overlooked middle child. Unlike its siblings, CS:CZ attempted to blend traditional multiplayer gameplay with a single-player campaign — a bold but divisive move. While it didn’t redefine the series, it remains an interesting piece of Counter-Strike history.
Gameplay: Classic CS with a Twist
At its core, Condition Zero retains the classic Counter-Strike formula: tactical, round-based combat between Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists in modes like bomb defusal and hostage rescue. If you’ve played CS 1.6, you’ll feel right at home with Condition Zero’s gunplay, movement, and map design.
However, what sets Condition Zero apart is the inclusion of two single-player modes:
Tour of Duty – A bot-driven campaign where players complete objectives across familiar maps, unlocking new bots with varying skills as they progress.
Deleted Scenes – A linear, mission-based campaign that feels more like a traditional first-person shooter, featuring a series of global Counter-Terrorism missions.
The Tour of Duty mode is a welcome addition for players who want to experience Counter-Strike without diving into online multiplayer. The bots are surprisingly competent, offering a decent challenge that mimics the multiplayer experience.
The Deleted Scenes campaign, however, is a mixed bag. While it offers more narrative-driven missions, the gameplay feels dated and lacks the tension and thrill of traditional Counter-Strike. Missions range from hostage rescues to bomb defusals, but the linear structure and scripted events feel out of place in a game known for its dynamic multiplayer action.
Graphics and Visuals: A Step Up, but Not Revolutionary
Released in 2004, Condition Zero was built on an enhanced version of the GoldSrc engine. The visuals are noticeably improved over CS 1.6, with better textures, character models, and environmental details.
However, by the time it launched, the graphics already felt outdated compared to newer games like Call of Duty and Far Cry. The improvements were appreciated by long-time fans, but they weren’t enough to make the game stand out in a rapidly evolving market.
Sound Design: Classic CS with Minor Tweaks
The sound design in Condition Zero stays true to the series, with familiar weapon sounds, voice lines, and environmental audio. However, it lacks the punchy impact that Counter-Strike: Source would later bring to the table.
One notable addition is the voice-acted mission briefings in the Deleted Scenes campaign. While they add some narrative context, they’re largely forgettable and don’t enhance the overall experience.
Community and Mods: Limited Longevity
Unlike CS 1.6 and CS: Source, Condition Zero never developed a thriving multiplayer community. While the game offered online play, most players stuck with CS 1.6, which was still dominating the competitive scene.
The lack of a strong community meant fewer custom maps and mods, which severely impacted Condition Zero’s replayability compared to its counterparts.
Legacy: A Missed Opportunity?
Condition Zero had the difficult task of bridging the gap between CS 1.6 and CS: Source, but it ultimately failed to make a lasting impact. The inclusion of single-player content was a bold move, but it wasn’t what fans of the series were looking for.
In hindsight, Condition Zero feels like a missed opportunity — a game caught between eras, trying to appeal to both hardcore multiplayer fans and those seeking a solo experience.
Pros:
✅ Classic Counter-Strike gameplay with improved visuals
✅ Competent bot AI for offline play
✅ Tour of Duty mode offers a decent single-player experience
✅ Deleted Scenes campaign adds narrative variety
Cons:
❌ Graphics were outdated at launch
❌ Deleted Scenes campaign feels disjointed
❌ Limited multiplayer community compared to CS 1.6
❌ Overshadowed by Counter-Strike: Source
Conclusion: An Interesting, If Flawed, Experiment
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero is often seen as the black sheep of the franchise, but it’s far from a bad game. It offers a unique twist on the Counter-Strike formula with its single-player content and improved visuals. However, it struggles to stand out due to its outdated graphics and the lack of a strong multiplayer community.
For long-time fans, Condition Zero is an interesting piece of Counter-Strike history worth exploring. For newcomers, it’s a curiosity — a game that shows the series’ growing pains as it transitioned from CS 1.6 to Source.
Score: 7/10
🤔 Verdict: A solid but underwhelming entry that’s more of a historical curiosity than a must-play classic. It’s worth a look for fans of the series, but don’t expect it to replace CS 1.6 or CS: Source in your gaming rotation.
It plays like classic CS 1.6, but it comes with an extensive singleplayer campaign and has bot-capability for solo skirmishes.
i cant even load in i hate loading screen the loading screen dead and i cant quit because of the dead loading which make this useless i need to alt+f4 just to quit
Better textures and an good campaign where teammates actually listen. Pretty fun.
Rambo... John J?
This review is about single-player campaign. So don't take me on multiplayer, cause multiplayer wasn't exactly touched. I mean, it's Counter-Strike, what do you expect in this retexture?
Anyway. Deleted Scenes are bunch of maps that go all over world supposedly showing spec ops. While on paper it sounds like a neat idea, in reality...
I sincerely hope the next issues are due to unfinished work, although I highly doubt.
Pros:
-Get to shoot without soundpacks or custom textures
-Feel yourself like a hero, I guess
-Ehh... No, scratch that.
Cons:
-Nonsense situations
-Horrible level design
-Unpolished AI
-Enemy placements - camper here, camper there, camper there, camper here
-Impossibility to even gather ammo/weapons from enemies
-The game saving notification literally blocks your aiming cross.
-The usage of rocket launchers by enemies that one-shoot you.
I have a golden rule - if you find secrets instead of progress - your level sucks. Many times I had it here.
I want to like this game. I really do. But I can't. I rage-quitted after trying out maps that weren't even in rotation. I can't recommend you to play it, except for three occasions - you want to find out forgotten game from 2000's; you really, really, REALLY love Counter-Strike/Half-Life shooting mechanics; or you simply want to kill time and regret it.
I guess it's called Deleted for a reason... 2/10
I've gotten so accustomed to modern shooters, it took me seven hours to complete the missions on hard. You can play the base game with bots, too. Has working online servers with the occasional cheater in them. Just like old times. <3
since valve don't add anything new this is our cs2 operation going back to deleted scenes missions , worth to play only if you play cs 1.6 before and you are fine with the game being shit and understand how it works
Alright, hear me out: Counter-Strike: Condition Zero is like that cousin who shows up to family BBQs with cool stories but never gets as much attention as the star sibling (1.6, duh). But honestly? CZ's got some serious charm if you give it a shot.
First off, it’s got bots. And not just any bots—these guys have personalities. They’ll trash-talk, yell “fire in the hole!” and then probably blow themselves up. It’s chaotic, it’s hilarious, and it’s honestly perfect for those of us who don’t want to face sweaty players online 24/7.
And let’s talk about the Deleted Scenes. Bro, this is CS going single-player campaign mode. It’s got hostages, explosions, and some genuinely fun missions. Is it weird? Yeah. Do I love it anyway? Also yeah.
Sure, it’s not as polished or beloved as other CS games, but CZ is like comfort food: a little rough around the edges but still hits the spot. If you're here for some nostalgic vibes or just want to experience CS in its quirky single-player glory, this one's for you.
goated with servers not overrun like 1.6 and absolutely banger campaign.
difficulty ramps up as you change difficulty settings dramatically. making the game captivating and fun, especially to experiment with. the soliders ur fighting with might take some getting used to to learn how to control ur team via the radio dialog commands; im still learning it. anyway uh fun game, nice how theres an objective besides just trying to win the round or not die, and the bots are engaging like i said at the start
One of the first PC games i ever played, played some tournaments, nostalgic values 10/10.
This made me better at CS, there are some slight bugs like how if you restart a map it might end up winning you the first round. Genuinely amazing to train though, the fundamentals haven't changed much from 1.6 to 2.
Will edit once I've finished the Expert campaign since all I've finished is the normal campaign :)
Great game, sad that a lot of people overlook this game. Pretty great would recommend 9/10
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero – Deleted Scenes – The Untold Story of Terror and Tactical Combat:
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero – Deleted Scenes offers a unique spin on the classic Counter-Strike formula, swapping out the competitive multiplayer for a single-player campaign. As an elite counter-terrorist operative, you embark on a series of high-stakes missions that put your tactical skills to the test.
While the gameplay retains the core mechanics that fans know and love—strategic gunplay, bomb planting, and defusing—the single-player campaign adds a narrative-driven experience, with various missions and objectives that range from rescuing hostages to eliminating terrorist threats. The "Deleted Scenes" aspect introduces extra missions that were originally cut from the main release, giving players new challenges to tackle.
Although the campaign doesn’t quite capture the intensity of the original multiplayer Counter-Strike, Condition Zero delivers a fun, if somewhat dated, experience for those looking for a tactical FPS with a bit more story. It’s a good throwback for fans of the franchise or those curious about the single-player potential of Counter-Strike.
I like the campaign
I hate the the bots
and as always Counter-Strike is fun game :)
One of the Best Shooter Game i have played in my Life. This doesn't have any storylines but still nails in game dynamics, with its 18 Maps and 4 difficulty levels. I have loved this game to the bottom of my life. This game lives on despite being released in 2004. And this 2024 year. Thanks to makers for making me a simulation of true commando. Would like to start my talent in Counter Strike 2 latest game version.
kinda tragic really, this game wouldve prolly been more fondly remembered if it had just released earlier
there's an active american server on here called smokingun's hideout. it's a 'christian server' but it has a wide variety of maps and a pretty consistent playerbase, especially on the weekends. I actually prefer this version over 1.6
Very good game for playing when you want to play single-player and as a big cs series fan, I really love it!
Runs great on Intel UHD 630 on Windows 10, with significantly better mouse handling than CS2 and GO! Raw input 1000Hz (and even 8K) is legit here.
CS 1.6 doesn't have bots. CS:CZ has bots. Deleted scenes is extra maps for CS:CZ. I jumped into a multiplayer Gun Game match, it played exactly how I imagined, and I'm almost not sure what newer CS's are trying to do :p
Bought it for the campaign. Game crashes upon use of any gadgets or flashlight. And tons of textures are glitched.
singleplayer counter strike, pretty fun! the missions are cool (though i must admit i only beat the easy ones as of right now... still gotta beat the other ones :P)
tf I play solo with easy and normal skills bot, I’m currently at CS_Office map right now and the mission was failed with the play hard skill mode in 7 rounds
Another of so many shooters like it. Very dated lacking personality to really stand with competition today.
Runs fine on Steam deck.
tbh, i only played this back in the day, but i still prefered counterstrike 1.6, the real reason people bought condition zero is because of DELETED SCENES cause it adds a "campaign".
the campaign in deleted scenes is fire, its basically counterstrike but as a campaign.
çocukluğumu hatırladım. mükemmel olmuş keşke küçükken oynayabilseydim
Only good thing is deleted scenes which is too long imo but I still recommend checking it out, mp is basically just 1.6 with slightly better graphics
It's basically CS 1.6 with slightly better graphics and a Single Player campaign. Missions are nice but can be a bit frustrating at times. But overall, it's pretty alright.
Condition Zero is a good game but NPC's are definetely broken. They often stuck to the walls and they makes you to open noclip and take a look at them.Beside I loved missions but the maps are a bit complicated.Lastly, gameplay is good enough.
Hmmm... this always be the black sheep in the CS franchise... The game itself was a try from the developer to expand the good old CS, but again it was not that successful...
Pros:
- It's the OG CS in the core..
- It has BOTs (If only they bring back the BOTs to 1.6)
Cons:
- Dated graphics
- Dated gameplay, it's not easy to play and sometime it could get so frustrating to follow the missions (The deleted missions) lol (maybe I just used to newer game that have better mechanics)
Final Score: 2.5/5
10/10 awesome game, do the missions if you're bored or play against bots like what I do :zamn:
(campaign) is some action movie shit. You saying I can take down a fighter jet with an awp as a boss battle? Idk crazy shit [and how is there basaclly a boss battle in counter strike]
Just use a mod that adds bots to 1.6. This game is literally just CS with bots but with annoying non-optional challenges that get you stuck on the same map until you beat them. Most of your success is dependent on whether your bots are able to kill 1 terrorist who kills every single one of them because of bot RNG. Also when you die and you just have to sit there and watch dumbasses run around, it really kills the game.
Bro this is the 2nd the best counter strike for me
Very Nostalgic game, plus you can play it solo doing missions 10/10
This was my third CS game first was: CS:GO on the Xbox 360 and then CS2 on steam and now CZ i got it for 10 złoty (aka polish currency) while it was on sale (the cs bundle) game very fun i had very fun with my friend sandeater500 (he posted a review too check it out!!) i LOVED doing a zombies mode thing where they only had grenades shields and knives one of the best CS games ever
this game sucks, its expensive and not fun
Been playing it since childhood. The nostalgia never dies.10/10
My first Counter-Strike game and i love it. Saw the counter strike bundle on sale for 2$ so i thought it was a absolute steal.
I love this gameplay, what beats shooting up terrorists in some random castle?
I loved this.
Great game , way better than most of the new games in 2024
