Godly Corp is an older game from 2018. It's a venerable 6 years old at the time of this review.
Hot off the heels of the middling success of "Surgeon Simulator", we get "Godly Corp", a little ripoff that follows the same game architecture... you're presented with simple tasks and deliberately awkward, bad controls. Sure, you're a tentacle monster instead of a surgeon, and you're doing "world control deity" stuff, but the overall gameplay isn't so different.
It seems clever when you see the concept, but philosophically it's a poor decision when you can't make the gameplay or the narrative engaging and instead you decide to make the controls for the game bad on purpose. Games should feel good to play, not awful.
Unlike Surgeon Simulator, this didn't go viral, but I don't think that failure was because of the direct technical implementation in this case, but just poor game conceptualisation. The market didn't want a big reskin of Surgeon Simulator. For what it's worth I found the humour in the game was okay, but a game needs a lot more than quirkiness to succeed.
One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer, but unfortunately genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant PC gaming experience.
On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 5 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
Godly Corp has the pathetically optimistic price of around $8 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
For comparison, the $8 asking price for this game could get you games like "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey", "Hearts of Iron IV" or "The Elder Scrolls Online". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Unfortunately Steam reviewers aren't presented with a "Maybe" option... if they did, that's what I'd choose. This isn't a completely bad game, but it's also not one of the best. As always, if you read my review and you can overlook the negatives I've called out, or they just aren't important to you, then by all means go ahead and buy this.
Funny game, at first you have to get used to the tentacle movement, but after 5-10 minutes it is natural for the player. A lot of humor and funny references have been added to the game. If you want to just have fun or laugh a bit, you will like this game!

i haven't gone back to play the game since i reviewed it, but the devs responded and genuinely offered solutions to my criticisms, so they have my respect
This game is very fun frustrating but fun the only problem is that sometimes your game bugs out and your tentacle will fly off your screen

Each level is something new and funny in a good way. It is a quirky game with a bit awkward controls but it definitely is charming and worth a shot if you are willing to try out something different and unusual.
This game has very fun and interesting mechanics. Using your tentacle to grab things and control planets is always an enjoyable way to pass the time. I would gladly recommend this game to anyone who wants to sit back and have fun!

Ultimate Games publishes some good stuff but this game is just awful. It's clunky and buggy. Controls are awful and so are the instructions and graphics. Game crashed on me as well. I've spent better money on mobile games.
got bored within 10 minutes
this game is so stupid..... I LOVE IT
Unfortunately, this is the first game I regret buying here on Steam (I have bought at least 55 games so far). Interesting idea but the game feels unfinished and the game-play is too "narrow". You get bored pretty quickly, and lose motivation to continue.
Sorry, I cannot recomendend this game in its current state.
Got this after seeing the trailer and thinking it looked very funny--which it is. Nothing like trying to knock a cockroach (?) off your desk and ending up sending everything crashing to the floor. Plus, there is something inherently funny about trying to manipulate things with a writhing tentacle. The later levels look just as humorous, but my lack of hand-eye coordination kept me from getting very far past the first level. But that's just me. This would be a good game for a party in one of those states that have wisely legalized pot. The game dev was also responsive to my feedback about making the instructions clearer.
some levels are quite challening, i enjoyed it overall, nice humour, nice references to other games and stuff like flat earth society. buy it, play it and try to beat everyone else on the scoreboard,
Usually, I stay away from various "surgeon-like" genre games - I basically don't have enough patience to deal with this stuff. However, Godly Corp is too much fun to stay away from it, even if you do not like such games, like me. Game was nearly perfectly designed when it comes to mechanics and levels design - they are alright for casual type of players and if you want a challenge you can increase difficulty level which needs you to react faster and more careful in the same time - making game harder by it.
I managed to have fun most of the time, despite Godly Corp being rather short production (but with decent replayability, I guess) - not counting few levels when I was frustrated so bad I had to take a break. Each of 15 levels is unique in its own way; some require you to move planet so you can heat marked regions and some require you to pick up arms and shoot at various enemies. Always using your trusted tool-limb: lovecraftian-themed tentacle.
Even if you've seen enough hentai - Godly Corp is definitely worth giving it a go, especially when you take its low price in consideration.
Godly Corp is game for players who like challenges. Each level is different, some focus on agility, others on precision, and all require multitasking. And we are under time pressure all the time! Each level guarantees that you will spend a few tries over it before you figure it out and pass it. Personally, I did not manage to pass any level the first time and sometimes I wanted to leave the game because of the frustration, but I kept telling myself that it was already close.
The game is also full of humor, whether during the game, but also after losing, which makes the time spent with the game more pleasant and encourages further attempts and passing the next levels.
If you think you are agile and multitasking, believe me, you are wrong. At least not as much as you think.
A game worth recommending.
I was waiting for the Goldy Corp since DEMO version and it was totally worth it! Gameplay is improved a lot. Playing the game is fun. Just need to check this out! :)
Pretty fun and challenging game! The tentacle physics is kinda difficult at first, especially scrolling up and down to moving it forward and backward but when you get used to it becomes quite intuitive. The game itself have some cool references like AI that reminds me of GLaDOS, or entire level inspired by FNAF but executed on it's own unique way. Soundtrack in game is somewhat inconsistent though and it has some ups and downs. Overall strong 8/10!
