Great story but the game play is so boring. Not sure how people are able to enjoy these kind of games where the shooting is so repetitive and boring even when the game has different variety of weapons, mobs and biomes. Got so bored, didn't feel like completing the DLCs.

Trying to do a play through with a friend via steam, but I can’t connect to the online shift servers. How do I fix this? It won’t let me do anything other than offline or lan mode, no online connection. Help!
This game has probably the most replay urge in all of video game history. Cannot stop playing.
Borderlands 2 is a high octane looter-shooter, with a blend of FPS and RPG elements. The Borderlands series is known for its zany, over the top characters and its unique witty humour and this second installment continues the trend. The cel-shaded visuals give the game a comic like feel and the environments are colourful and varied. The sound work is exceptional, everything from the gun effects, character voice lines and rock and roll themes bring this game to life. The variety of loot is overwhelming, and there are infinite variations because the game procedurally generates items based on specific parameters. No two items are ever the same. The story is often outrageous, and continues where the first game left off, with players needing to stop the Hyperion Corporation led by the diabolical antagonist Handsome Jack. A standout feature of Borderlands 2 is that up to 4 players can play together cooperatively. There are both individual and shared loot drops, and difficulty scaling based on the number and character level of players. The experience is generally chaotic and hilarious and is highly recommended to play through with friends. All these previously mentioned features making up Borderlands 2 offer unparalleled replayability. In terms of looter-shooters, there are practically none better than this game.
Okay, so, the good first.
I absolutely love this game, the humour is excellent,the writing is good, and the voice acting, even on the DLC characters is really great. The styling also really sticks out as unique especially among games now that tend to either be *way* too saturated with colour, or play like a hallway, or look like some kind of dirt simulator. I've also got a lot of fond memories with it as I used to play it with a friend that's sadly...not really themselves anymore.
Now onto the Bad.
The native linux port of this game, is....lacking.
for the first eighty hours, it worked fine, but then it kept crashing after like five minutes and I had to resort to forcing steam to use proton.
so, as a word of advice, save yourself the pain of losing a character you spent hours gear hunting for, and just, use proton.
Everything that was good about Borderlands was made better in Borderlands 2.
Its the best in the series and some day maybe they'll make a Borderlands as good as it.

An oldie but Legendary game nontheless. Sooooooo much content with soooooo much comedy from the jump This IS the best BL game thus far when it comes to everything outside of graphics to the point the updated it for VR play. 10/10

I've played this game for several hundred hours on console and 200 some hours on another steam account. This is the peak of borderlands, and its all downhill beyond here.

Good game overall and good story line. I loved it. (For viewers looking at comments, there isn't any nudity its just a couple signs in game one saying "moXXXies" or "XXX". And some crude jokes. But I'd recommend the game overall.
I miss my time in college & the time I spent playing this with my best friends. About a solid decade later.. playing this solo is still great fun.. it's just quiet.
Why doesn't the pc game of the year edition have all cosmetic DLC, but the old ps3 version of it on does? this is just stupid.
Great game though, if you never played it, get it.
Insanely fun even after 12 years of it being released. The gunplay, story, and humor (although some jokes are outdated though lol) are highlights of this game. The types of weapons you use range all the way from basic to really crazy weapons. Lots of side missions to help you easily, and that they are all fun to the point where it doesn't feel like a chore. I have completed this game multiple times on other consoles, and have introduced some of my buddies to this franchise as well through this game. The fact that this game still holds up better than the godawful sequel that we call Borderlands 3, says that Gearbox did this game right even after 12 years
Definitely feels dated by modern standards, but still has the best story in the series!

One of the first co-op shooters I ever played, and to this day I still find myself amused by the jokes, immersed by the music and energy, and thoroughly happy with the overall feel and experience of the gameplay. It's a long-time favorite, and will likely remain that way <3
Good sequel to a good game, much more vibrant and fun than the first one.
Single best coop game I've ever played.
Villain is so good that follow up games suffer because none of them live up to the absolute perfectness of Handsome Jack.

I havent played this game for hundreds of hours but i have played it enough to review :-
gunplay - a little aged but still great.
movement - i am a huge movement freak like i want slide , ten types of jumps and all that cool shit but , unfortunately in this game we only have walk n jump.
graphics - a bit aged as well but the graphic style is amazing i like its uniqueness
story - one the best in the gaming industry if not for the gameplay one must play it for the story handsome jack is one the best villains ngl. the lines are delivered smoothly and the characters are truly amazing
claptrap - if only there was a mute button or an off switch or an option to choke him with a copper wire 🥲
overall - i am in love with this game 9/10 undoubtedly one of the best , if not the best , looter shooter games.
The best Borderlands game!
This game is genuinely fantastic. The story, the gameplay, the music, the characters, there is so much to love about this game!
I've played through this game using each character, and had a lot of fun doing it! Each character plays different thanks to the skill tree system, and you can play those individual characters differently as well!
I love the soundtrack for this game so much, I got the vinyl! The story is really good as well, and while you should probably play Borderlands 1 first before playing this, I played this one first and it didn't negatively affect my experience. That being said, it is recommended.
The gameplay is really fun. Especially when you are able to grab a friend or two to join in and play co-op. If I had a complaint to make, it's that while Melee focused builds are fun, it can be a fairly hard time when fighting bosses that fly all over the place.
Handsome Jack is one of the best villains in video game history at is the star of the show. In fact, Gearbox loved him so much, they brought him into 2 more Borderlands games.
The DLCs are fun and packed with content! However, 2 of them particularly suck, either by being too short, not having enough quests, or not being as interesting as the others. Hammalock's Big Hunt especially was a let down.
That being said, this game is still an extremely good game. Despite 100%'ing it, I wouldn't mind going back into it with a friend to go through another playthrough or two.

Was Enjoyable when it originally released and with the few expansions. But now that it required a 3rd party account, i would recommend against it.
After having played a good amount of this game, i can't recommend it.
Firstly, slag. It's an element that, when applied to the enemy, causes you to deal 2-3x damage to an enemy. What's so bad about this? Well, when balancing the game, the developers have to take into account how much damage a player will do. Considering the fact that their damage can vary so wildly means that they have to inflate the enemy health to a point that is much higher than it would be if slag didn't exist at all, and making enemies bullet sponges. So if you don't use slag, you're simply playing with a bad build, and are forced into using it if you want a chance, taking most of the build variety out of the game.
Secondly, the dialogue and "humour" is clearly written by a bunch of millennials, hence the games "Millenial writing".
Thirdly, you're characters aim shakes SO wildly when aiming down the sights, to the point of it making you miss many of your shots, that the best way i can describe it is by saying it feels like trying to aim whilst bouncing on a trampoline.
Fourthly, enemies move constantly, so if you are using a weapon with a slow bullet travel time, enemies will be near impossible to hit.
Never played the series before when it was in the hype. Level design is definitely horrible in some parts, feeling "squarey" and unpolished. If you are a solo player like me this game will annoy you so much, with some quests clearly not balanced to do it solo. I am giving it a negative now because it stressed me a little too much!
Imo this is the best borderland. Great gameplay and great story. and HANDSOME JACK!!!!!!
love this whole series (pre-sequal not so much) these games are hilarious in spite of the whole fate of the galaxy stakes involved in the story love how zany everything is the creators have the perfect balance of funny and serious
I have played this game for years on older pcs I've owned.
But cannot play it anymore. It always crashes and it seems it has no fixes.

The best antagonist in the series Handsome jack really puts this game together. The shooting is fun and addictive, the comedy is pretty good, and although the graphics aren't awesome the game is stylized in a way (cell shaded) where it doesn't really matter. 9/10
One of the best looter shooters i've ever played! Much better than the 3rd one. Unlike the 3rd one when you get a legendary it takes time, and you don't always get it on your first try which is great! The story line is great same with all the DLC's and Headmasters/Mini DLC.
The best Borderlands game period! The story, locations, the villain, content, characters, etc. it has everything that make a Borderlands game awesome! What's more to say? It's the king of Borderlands games of course and it's hard to top this one.
Truly one of the best games ever made. If you like witty yet stupid humor, guns that shoot swords, one of the most charming villains of our generation, and saving the world, play this.

P good... this game is ancient you know its good I know its good.
If you like the others youll enjoy this one. Tons of fun, handsome jack (great story with a great villain), tons of loot... Play and youll see. (1st time players, do the side quests, youll want to be prepared for whats to come. Vets, its Borderlands).
This game is worth to play for the gameplay/gunplay not the story.

What a fantastic game I just completed. It might've taken me quite a while to beat it, and more time spent than the average player, but I truly had a fantastic experience. This game is wonderful, witty, and wild. I love getting to explore all of Pandora, trying to stop the nefarious Handsome Jack, while he pops in your ear occasionally to taunt you about how you're never going to reach your goal. While I am still undecided on if I am going to 100% this game or not, I will definitely be revisiting this game. Such a fun game.
very funny game alot too do for missions so far its the best looter game ive played than elden ring and also skyrim as well, and the fact its a shooting game as well we need more games like this, borderlands 3 was alright but ever since its just been going downhill.
Fun Mad Max Looter Shooter with funny characters and quests. It's like Diablo but with guns.
This one is difficult to judge for me. Although I generally enjoyed my time with it, I would not play or even buy this game again. But then again, I bought it during a sale for next to nothing and got nearly 40 decent hrs out of it, before I quit. So, I guess it is alright.
peak game, much better than borderlands 3, honestly mostly made this review to cement my 69 hours in it. still, get this game, with friends, its so fun.
Always fun to play with friends messing around or tryharding some raid bosses on high levels. Love almost everything about it.
Some minor gripes: enemies and quests levels don't scale on lower difficulties, can't reroll quest rewards, rarely enemies are just reskins of others, some characters don't scale well for a late game(most of this is fixable in community patch).
Time well spent that's for sure.
Best storyline game in the series ( obv opinion based )
Bl2 is the Borderlands title to play, you can easily skip Bl1 if you want and Bl3 is a mess, but this game has it all. Good story? Yep. Fun gameplay? Slightly dated but not bad at all. Interesting farming for those that want it? Plenty of it.
