This game slaps.
Nostalgia truly hits with this one.... I remember playing with on xbox 360 with my father and had the best of times. Re-running this campaign another time around on PC has been a great experience. This campaign is next to none and then MW2 simply builds on what makes this game great. The story-telling to the voice acting and a game from 2007 it is very impressive still to this day having played this back in 2007 to now.
Is £20 for a 4 hour campaign fair? No.
Is £10 on sale for a 4 hour campaign fair? Also no.
This game is, at time of review, 18 years old, and has no business costing as much as it does for how little you get. You get what feels like, I wanna say six missions overall? I feel like £5 is more this game's speed, but hey, I'm a cheap asshole.
You shoot people and... Well, I mean, that's it... Oh, and you throw grenades.
I take issue with the part in the Chernobyl mission where you lay on the grass and enemies walk by you. I genuinely feel like the game bugged out there because I kept getting spotted? I even decided to place my nose directly into MacMillans large intestine. I could smell his MREs digesting because my nostrils booked a 2 week all-inclusive to his anus. Eventually it just worked? I don't even know what I did differently, but whatever. That segment was dumb. Otherwise it was fine. The other stupid annoying part was that mission where you start off with the heavy machine gun on a hill. Eventually you have to push through enemies to get evacuated and I was trying to play it all serious and methodical but I was just getting popped through the smoke or vegetation over and over because the hostile npcs have fucking wallhacks. I gave up and just fucking booked it to the gas station, and it worked? Soap MacTavish: SAS operator and professional speed-runner, apparently.
The AC-130 segment was pretty fun, though it's the only specialist role you get. I thought there would be a tank segment in there somewhere but no such luck.
I guess pick it up if you want a really short campaign with very few set-pieces. You kinda just clear rooms. You don't get £20 worth of rooms though, that's for damn sure. You switch between the SAS and the USMC and then go to the YMCA and do CBT while enjoying a BJ and some DP.
Still an all time classic and R.I.P my boys Vasquez and Griggs.
Best Call of Duty still to this day. Every new release keeps disappointing and I always find myself back on this absolute gem after starting to play it back in 2008 and it still never gets old. Do yourself a favor and repopulate the servers!
Probably my favorite Campaign in not only in a CoD game, but probably my favorite Campaign in gaming as a hole! the missions, the writing, everything about it is just a masterpiece!
Another classic FPS game. As the WW2 FPS games started to become stale, IW decide to take COD to the modern age, or Modern Warfare. I watched the walkthrough and gameplay videos on YT before owning a laptop. At the time, the visuals are amazing and playing it is even better.
One of my criticism of this game is the same as all the old COD titles, which is the pricing.
Still great after all these years... the key in my humble opinion is FREEZE-TAG mode and other misc. upgrades and features... best place for the games imho is via Xtremeidiots.com servers, they have two freeze-tag... Yes, it is an old game, but so far gaming companies have not yet made a better replacement than this old game and freeze-tag...
very awesome game, just finished the campiagn, super fun, and funny, story is amazing wish they mad call of dutys like this again, masterpiece
[Door starts to open slowly] Gaz, can't you make it open faster?

Negative, sir. But you can try pulling if it'll make you feel better.

Cheeky bastard...

good game, good story its when i think the old cod's and their great stories started. the grenade spam on verteran was stupid though its as if enemy's had 1million grenades in their backpocket.
how can get my cash back for this can t play it half the time with sever on it
Just finished the game the story of the game was good I would recommend playing this game I would finishing the series of cod
for the dead multiplayer just use PeZBoTs and disable them to play the campaign
really short feeling story but its really good for how old it is
As my first introduction to the Call of Duty series I really enjoyed my time with it. I don't really have much to say except that its a great shooter with a competent story. The gunplay feels great, although the graphics are dated I still loved the setting. I will say I did feel a little lost on what I was supposed to do at parts, as the objective list can be a little vague. Still i'd say its worth your time especially if, like me, its your first game in the franchise.
7/10, 'All Ghillied Up' mission on Veteran can actually eat sand.
This game is basically a classic.
Multiplayer has both Coop and PVP, there's a lot with what the community did with the mods. the zombie mod in the futurama map was something I still remember to this day.
Played to see what all the hype was about but became disappointed when i found out most servers are dead. Guns: Good, Gameplay: Pretty good, trophies: Non existent(Its a 2007 game ik but still). Buy when its on sale for a tenner. 9/10.
5 second heavy metal guitar music clip after leveling up hits just right every time
The best Call of Duty Game of all time IMO. This is the start of peak COD era.
Online servers still work like a charm, enough people playing to find a game but also tons of servers available with bots.
First CoD game this one, had an overall fun time other than an absurd amount of clown car spawning. But can definitely see why people think the campaign is a masterpiece. Can't wait to play the rest of the trilogy.
this is such a throw back from the past, used to spend hours on single player and offline mode messing around by myself, at times i may have friends over to play with on multiplayer aka 4 player split screen.
played when this gem came out, and online multiplayer was another thing so refreshing during the xbox 360 era. good times
this is honestly probably the best cod there is, compared to the other modern warfares this one has the longest story and honestly the new modern warfares just arent as good

good game, nice game, trust me i know games, and i know people who know games and we all say, we say hey. we know games and this game is gaming. trust me, im a doctor.
Remember, switching to your pistol is always faster than reloading.
It should be illegal to sell this game in the state it is right now.
Lots of fun in MP. Great plot for campaign!
Good Story and Campaign
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare wasn’t just a game—it was a movement. It redefined the FPS genre, setting a gold standard for multiplayer gameplay that many still chase today. But for me, it wasn’t just about the killstreaks or intense campaign missions (though All Ghillied Up is still iconic). It was the community, the custom servers, and the endless possibilities that made it my first true gaming love.
CodJumper: Who needed firefights when you could spend hours perfecting parkour on CodJumper maps? Climbing impossible ledges, bunny-hopping across rooftops, and nailing that final jump after dozens of tries—it was pure bliss. CodJumper wasn’t just a mode; it was a lifestyle, teaching patience, precision, and the fine art of showing off your movement skills in front of your friends.
Promod: The competitive scene was where this game truly shined. Promod stripped COD4 to its purest form—no gimmicks, no distractions, just skill versus skill. It was fast, clean, and every round felt like a chess match with guns. Whether you were clutching a 1v3 or landing a pixel-perfect frag grenade, Promod brought out the best (and sweatiest) in all of us.
Custom Servers: Back in the day, the server browser was like a treasure map. From sniper-only servers to insane zombie survival mods, there was a server for everyone. The creativity of the community turned COD4 into so much more than a military shooter. You’d hop into a server for a quick match and end up staying for hours because someone had rigged up a Michael Myers game mode.
The game wasn’t perfect—remember the grenade spam on Shipment? Or trying to figure out why you couldn’t connect to a server because you forgot to download some obscure custom map? But those quirks only added to its charm.
Modern Warfare (2007) wasn’t just a game; it was a canvas for creativity, competition, and connection. It gave us the tools to play, explore, and bond with a community that felt more like a second home.
Final Verdict:
The servers may not be as active as they once were, but COD4 will always hold a special place in my heart. For anyone who missed it back then: you didn’t just miss a game—you missed an era.
10/10, for the memories, the community, and the joy of nailing that final CodJumper run.
One hit from any firearm puts me at critital health on a regular campaign.. who tf thought that's a good idea?
Fire game🔥🔥🔥 and fire multiplayer🔥🔥🔥🔥 and btw fuck campers with wh
Starting point of modern call of duty
All Ghillied up is a classic. Price is brutal, unlike the newer games. The ending is amazing, and mile high club gave me a sweatfest.
This is the best Call of Duty in my opinion, the single player campaign is phenomenal. There is lots of activity on PC with the CoD4X mod with bots. I really like playing Vanilla Team Deathmatch with Bots.
Amazing game made during the COD glory days before they turned to shit.
My only complaint is that the game was far too easy. My first and only play-through of the game I did on Veteran difficulty with relative ease, only exception being the epilogue mission "Mile High Club" as that mission is practically impossible on Veteran. The epilogue should be a bit easier and the rest of the campaign should be harder.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, more like Whisper of Shit: Ancient Peace.
memorias de la wii traidas a la vida nuevamente 15 años despues para cristalizar mis ojos por los momentos vividos. 10/10
Awesome game, even for being made in 2007, playing through this at 1440p max graphics, 400 fps, was truly beautiful. 10/10 play this again
One of my favorite call of duty games ever!
its fun and online
The classic Call of Duty dive into modern shooters,a and the first part in What I believe to be the most investing storyline for a campaign in this series. As I do with every other CoD, I played through on Veteran and boy, did I forget the GRENADES. No other military uses more nades than Zakhaev's.
I'd recommend if you were looking for the challenge of Campaign on the hardest difficulty. But honestly, just play the remaster.
The Godfather of all modern day shooters. What more can you say? Feels great, smooth 60fps in 2007. If I could recommend one first-person shooter to anyone based on feel, fluidity, and campaign alone, it would be CoD 4.
The actual amount of hours I have put into this game is a couple thousand hours, this was one of my all time favorite games on the 360, and now i play on pc
Fucking love this game it's a classic
6.5/10
Given how much this trilogy has been referenced over the years, I decided to give it a try. This first game was... basically Mediocre Shooter: The Game. It boggles the mind that, outside of some features and smoothness, this plays exactly like the last one a buddy would have us play back in 2012 or 2013. That's terrible for a five-year gap, but indicative of this being more like an annual-release E.A. sports game than an innovative shooter.
It still gets a thumbs up because it's not bad, but it's wholly forgettable, particularly nowadays. The only reason to pay is for nostalgia, for those who have it.
Pros:
- Pretty straightforward.
- The characters aren't annoying.
- Guns feel alright.
Cons:
- The most narcissistic credits I have ever witnessed. Not only did they throw in audio from what sounded like a pitch meeting for the game, but they then got someone to rap that audio and quotes from the game like Will Smith trying to add himself to a movie's soundtrack? And then there was some meaningless bonus mission at the end that had nothing to do with anything. Baffling.
- Lots of dumb design decisions. Smoking at night during a stealth mission because you have to show your character is effortlessly cool? Russian "ultra-nationalists" and a random Middle Eastern country with G36Cs, M9s, and the M1014? What's the point of even hiring military advisors, at that point?
- You seem to get tripped up on the smallest objects lying around (or by your teammates). Made for quite the nuisance on the third-highest difficulty.
[*]Lots of instances where enemies could shoot from behind cover as if they saw you (or them shooting immediately after taking a corner).
It's fun. Give it a try.
The game that reshaped modern FPS games. Still a classic from 2007 with a great campaign.
I love committing war crimes overseas
I would not recommend the game at this point. The game is mostly nostalgic at this point better off since the community is mostly bots and old players it isn't the same anymore. but if you want that nostalgic rush its okay to buy
