I always enjoy playing the older Call Of Duty games because of the game play and nostalgia. No matter how many newer CODs they make. I will still be playing the originals
Really grate game even though I wish the story was a bit longer. It was kinda nice playing this game also cause of the graphics. I am a fan of this kind of oldish graphics and it was really enjoyable . Sad that Cap died at the end :(( .
I do recommend this game though
It's unfortunate that one of the biggest things about this game is unplayable. You need to download some sort of software in order to be able to play Multiplayer which is just a shame. Hope all the stars align in order for Activision to fix the game, like they did with Xbox. But besides that, the game is good, but having only Singleplayer sucks.
The multiplayer is unsafe, you need to install an unoffical software to play "safely". Activision is lazy and wont do anything about it, steam has also ignored this issue for many years, even though it violates steams TOS and probably laws of many nations. Do not buy.
Best FPS in World! Made with love! Campaign awesome, Story awesome, Multiplayer was awesome too!! Highly recommended!!!
This has got to be one of the most Important first-person shooters of all time. In a year like 2007 where you got games like TF2, Portal, HL2 along with It's episodes, Halo 3, and this game are just so amazing and are such fun games. The guns feel great, the movement Is great, the characters Is so rememberable, and don't even get me started on the missions, Every single one Is so well put together and so well crafted. I seriously can't explain how great cod mw1 one Is. just both campaign and multiplayer are still extremely fun. Not only one of the best cod games In the series, but one of the best games ever created.
great game for nostalgia and even the original looks good on a 4k screen with maxed out settings. Campaign still holds up and is much better than lots of other single player fps campaigns that have came out recently
the game is just so fun, but sadly its short. the pve missions are really good, but there are only 18 missions or so.
7/10
Fun from start to finish. Epic locations. Great stealth missions. Love the weapons, new grenade types, wallbangs, air support missions, more developed characters. Every call of duty after this one is just an iteration of COD 4. It really feels like a global conflict. The amount of enemies can be a bit ridiculous and at harder difficulty being almost insta-killed because of the intense camera shake when getting shot can be annoying.I love this O.G game, C.O.D sucks nowadays but it's old ignored games still rock! The only hard parts are "all ghilied up" and getting zhakev's @$$
This game is amazing
I've been going around and reviewing these games in 2025 to see how these aged and this game is one of the better ones IF you only play campaign. As to be expected the multiplayer experience is horrible, this is unfortunate but it's how it is.
I would recommend if it's on sale and you only want the campaign experience.
This game stands the test of time. One of the best, if not the best CoD game ever released. Back when CoD games were developed to be good, and not developed every year just for the money. Nostalgia is kicking in, oorah marines!
Make sure you run it through the community patch. The tutorial is on youtube along with clients to play other older CODs on. I highly suggest doing research and playing all the older COD games.
Bought this on sale to tell you that Activision is trying to milk you of $20 19 years after the game came out.
Never played Call of Duty on PC before nor have i really played COD before but i can confidently say this game is a masterpiece even with 73 minutes only
A friend warned that it had a tonal shift from the previous games, and I'd say they're right. But only in the sense that the WWII games made a point to mention how they were on the back foot (underdogs, in a way), but this seemed to have more of a "victory is guaranteed" vibe, even when the plot very much wasn't going their way.
Biggest positive: team callouts of enemy locations/approaches (though I might only just now be starting to pay attention). Very helpful. : )
Most "oh! :D" aspect: the time trial tutorial to estimate difficulty. I think that's neat, though only for a first run, since knowing where to expect enemies gets you faster but not necessarily more skilled.
Most inconvenient aspect: I'm not familiar with the mechanics/rules for NPCs pushing forward, because sometimes I go but none of my team comes with me.
Having played COD4: Modern Warfare for the first time in 2025, even after playing games that are technically far more impressive, this game's campaign is still a lot of fun. Not only is the combat immersive and extremely satisfying, but I really like a modern military shooter where you play as actual US marines in an actual conflict. This game puts the 'war' in modern warfare. In my opinion (subjective), this game rides the perfect line between realism and arcade, making a smooth and flawless experience. Would highly recommend.
May allah The Multiplayer servers are dead
but still playable
I had to do some surgery on the game files to change the text snd voicelines to english but its still awesome
The multi-player is fun and very good, even weapons too but campaign,is a masterpiece 9/10 game
This game slaps.
Nostalgia truly hits with this one.... I remember playing with on xbox 360 with my father and had the best of times. Re-running this campaign another time around on PC has been a great experience. This campaign is next to none and then MW2 simply builds on what makes this game great. The story-telling to the voice acting and a game from 2007 it is very impressive still to this day having played this back in 2007 to now.
Is £20 for a 4 hour campaign fair? No.
Is £10 on sale for a 4 hour campaign fair? Also no.
This game is, at time of review, 18 years old, and has no business costing as much as it does for how little you get. You get what feels like, I wanna say six missions overall? I feel like £5 is more this game's speed, but hey, I'm a cheap asshole.
You shoot people and... Well, I mean, that's it... Oh, and you throw grenades.
I take issue with the part in the Chernobyl mission where you lay on the grass and enemies walk by you. I genuinely feel like the game bugged out there because I kept getting spotted? I even decided to place my nose directly into MacMillans large intestine. I could smell his MREs digesting because my nostrils booked a 2 week all-inclusive to his anus. Eventually it just worked? I don't even know what I did differently, but whatever. That segment was dumb. Otherwise it was fine. The other stupid annoying part was that mission where you start off with the heavy machine gun on a hill. Eventually you have to push through enemies to get evacuated and I was trying to play it all serious and methodical but I was just getting popped through the smoke or vegetation over and over because the hostile npcs have fucking wallhacks. I gave up and just fucking booked it to the gas station, and it worked? Soap MacTavish: SAS operator and professional speed-runner, apparently.
The AC-130 segment was pretty fun, though it's the only specialist role you get. I thought there would be a tank segment in there somewhere but no such luck.
I guess pick it up if you want a really short campaign with very few set-pieces. You kinda just clear rooms. You don't get £20 worth of rooms though, that's for damn sure. You switch between the SAS and the USMC and then go to the YMCA and do CBT while enjoying a BJ and some DP.
Still an all time classic and R.I.P my boys Vasquez and Griggs.
Best Call of Duty still to this day. Every new release keeps disappointing and I always find myself back on this absolute gem after starting to play it back in 2008 and it still never gets old. Do yourself a favor and repopulate the servers!
Probably my favorite Campaign in not only in a CoD game, but probably my favorite Campaign in gaming as a hole! the missions, the writing, everything about it is just a masterpiece!
Another classic FPS game. As the WW2 FPS games started to become stale, IW decide to take COD to the modern age, or Modern Warfare. I watched the walkthrough and gameplay videos on YT before owning a laptop. At the time, the visuals are amazing and playing it is even better.
One of my criticism of this game is the same as all the old COD titles, which is the pricing.
Still great after all these years... the key in my humble opinion is FREEZE-TAG mode and other misc. upgrades and features... best place for the games imho is via Xtremeidiots.com servers, they have two freeze-tag... Yes, it is an old game, but so far gaming companies have not yet made a better replacement than this old game and freeze-tag...
very awesome game, just finished the campiagn, super fun, and funny, story is amazing wish they mad call of dutys like this again, masterpiece
[Door starts to open slowly] Gaz, can't you make it open faster?
-Captain Price
Negative, sir. But you can try pulling if it'll make you feel better.
-Gaz
Cheeky bastard...

good game, good story its when i think the old cod's and their great stories started. the grenade spam on verteran was stupid though its as if enemy's had 1million grenades in their backpocket.
how can get my cash back for this can t play it half the time with sever on it
Just finished the game the story of the game was good I would recommend playing this game I would finishing the series of cod
for the dead multiplayer just use PeZBoTs and disable them to play the campaign
really short feeling story but its really good for how old it is
As my first introduction to the Call of Duty series I really enjoyed my time with it. I don't really have much to say except that its a great shooter with a competent story. The gunplay feels great, although the graphics are dated I still loved the setting. I will say I did feel a little lost on what I was supposed to do at parts, as the objective list can be a little vague. Still i'd say its worth your time especially if, like me, its your first game in the franchise.
7/10, 'All Ghillied Up' mission on Veteran can actually eat sand.
This game is basically a classic.
Multiplayer has both Coop and PVP, there's a lot with what the community did with the mods. the zombie mod in the futurama map was something I still remember to this day.
Played to see what all the hype was about but became disappointed when i found out most servers are dead. Guns: Good, Gameplay: Pretty good, trophies: Non existent(Its a 2007 game ik but still). Buy when its on sale for a tenner. 9/10.
5 second heavy metal guitar music clip after leveling up hits just right every time
The best Call of Duty Game of all time IMO. This is the start of peak COD era.
Online servers still work like a charm, enough people playing to find a game but also tons of servers available with bots.
First CoD game this one, had an overall fun time other than an absurd amount of clown car spawning. But can definitely see why people think the campaign is a masterpiece. Can't wait to play the rest of the trilogy.
this is such a throw back from the past, used to spend hours on single player and offline mode messing around by myself, at times i may have friends over to play with on multiplayer aka 4 player split screen.
played when this gem came out, and online multiplayer was another thing so refreshing during the xbox 360 era. good times
this is honestly probably the best cod there is, compared to the other modern warfares this one has the longest story and honestly the new modern warfares just arent as good

good game, nice game, trust me i know games, and i know people who know games and we all say, we say hey. we know games and this game is gaming. trust me, im a doctor.
Remember, switching to your pistol is always faster than reloading.
It should be illegal to sell this game in the state it is right now.
Lots of fun in MP. Great plot for campaign!
Good Story and Campaign
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare wasn’t just a game—it was a movement. It redefined the FPS genre, setting a gold standard for multiplayer gameplay that many still chase today. But for me, it wasn’t just about the killstreaks or intense campaign missions (though All Ghillied Up is still iconic). It was the community, the custom servers, and the endless possibilities that made it my first true gaming love.
CodJumper: Who needed firefights when you could spend hours perfecting parkour on CodJumper maps? Climbing impossible ledges, bunny-hopping across rooftops, and nailing that final jump after dozens of tries—it was pure bliss. CodJumper wasn’t just a mode; it was a lifestyle, teaching patience, precision, and the fine art of showing off your movement skills in front of your friends.
Promod: The competitive scene was where this game truly shined. Promod stripped COD4 to its purest form—no gimmicks, no distractions, just skill versus skill. It was fast, clean, and every round felt like a chess match with guns. Whether you were clutching a 1v3 or landing a pixel-perfect frag grenade, Promod brought out the best (and sweatiest) in all of us.
Custom Servers: Back in the day, the server browser was like a treasure map. From sniper-only servers to insane zombie survival mods, there was a server for everyone. The creativity of the community turned COD4 into so much more than a military shooter. You’d hop into a server for a quick match and end up staying for hours because someone had rigged up a Michael Myers game mode.
The game wasn’t perfect—remember the grenade spam on Shipment? Or trying to figure out why you couldn’t connect to a server because you forgot to download some obscure custom map? But those quirks only added to its charm.
Modern Warfare (2007) wasn’t just a game; it was a canvas for creativity, competition, and connection. It gave us the tools to play, explore, and bond with a community that felt more like a second home.
Final Verdict:
The servers may not be as active as they once were, but COD4 will always hold a special place in my heart. For anyone who missed it back then: you didn’t just miss a game—you missed an era.
10/10, for the memories, the community, and the joy of nailing that final CodJumper run.
One hit from any firearm puts me at critital health on a regular campaign.. who tf thought that's a good idea?
