An absolute classic, purchased for its modded zombies, very simple graphics most of the time but very thrilling to play.
Classic, played this game on and off as a kid at friends, relatives and such. Would recommend if you want to experience some OG cod singleplayer as for the multiplayer, better off getting the xbox version as the servers on multiplayer are pretty dead and hella modded.
Honestly one of the greatest Call of Duty games ever made. Greed obviously is the reason Activision fell off hard after Cold War was out, especially the hot pile of garbage that came after it that starts with a V.

One of the rare games I've finished a few times, it truly captures the atmosphere of World War II. The likely reason for its appeal is its connection to recent history.
Very atmospheric. Make sure to play uncut. Also one of the "older" CoDs from back in the days, where the general quality of the game still was good.

it is very fun to play with mods as well it makes it more fun

starting to get dated but still like jumping on for a few games here and there. its the only old cod thats still safe to do so unless you have the mod launcher thing.
nobody ever mentions this 1 but imo it is legit one of, if not the best COD ever made. plus it started zombies.
as cod goes its about as barebones as it gets. But 'they dont make em like this anymore' is a true statement for this game

I played this masterpiece when I was 12 at an internet cafe. After school, my friends and I would grind Zombies mode—so many memories. The campaign felt like the horror of real war. My favorite campaign was the Pacific Front, with the Imperial Japanese Army banzai charges, brutality, and gore. Zombies mode was also incredible. It's worth the 20 bucks if you’re a hardcore fan of this game. Activision has never made a masterpiece like this game again.

Truly the best Call of Duty of all times. After almost two decades, game is still fun, there are still people playing online. Grab it on a sale and have old school fun.

I used to sit in front of my TV with my PS3 as a kid and would play the demo for this game over and over again. This is a super solid call of duty game that is still very enjoyable today. I recommend buying on sale and playing through the campaign.

great old cod good zombie mods good campaign havent tryed multi player yet but good game
I have 60 hours in just the campaign, this is peak FPS. Nothings gonna come close to this damn game, genuinely one of the best shooters of all time. No weird sci-fi crap, no crazy action hero movement yet it maintains extreme fluidity in the combat and stories. You WILL get PTSD after playing on veteran, I've completed it twice on that game mode and I literally jump every time I hear a piece of metal falling. After my most recent play through I got up from my computer and made sure to duck behind my window just in case the sniper is hiding there. Also an absolutely killer soundtrack. If I could buy it again I would.
does that main menu music give you chills, does that realism of turning people to human mince occur, will it give you ptsd in the end but in the funnest way possible, are the round based zombies difficult, if you answered yes to any of these then you know the pain of getting a bouncing Betty to the face while hunting for that sniper going old school, there's no jet packs or anything like that. just classic call of duty doing what it did best, test your actual skills without no movements, twas the days of pure skill and nothing more. definitely recommend. also considering this was released in 2008, the graphics definitely hold up really well and i go back to it occasionally even now

i have more than 1000 hours in this game unfotunately i had to buy it again on stem due to my disk reader broke down and it was cheaper to buy the game again rather than repairing it whatsmore was one of my favorite and still holds this aura that triggers my nostalgia this is where all begun it is a good game and it comes with the patches rather than having to search for it on the interent and install it on your own yhea the game glicht only in zombies sometimes but that shall not stop you from buying it cause the mp is great and the coop ,speaking of coop probably because not many people play this game any longer you can not find servers in coop but that shall not stop you since there are alot of groups team chats (such as mine) on the steam platform and discord servers where you can find many players around the globe to play with all in all the single player campaign is extrodinary since it is based to a book and depicts with astonishing reality the brutality of war with no modern <

World War 2 is the bloodiest war humanity experienced thus far and Call of Duty World at War does an incredible job at portraying it.
Its a short game but has everything we love about Cod. Good gunplay, exciting scenarios, zombies, mods and at its peak, a fantastic multiplayer experience.
Price is a bit steep but if you can afford it or already have it in your backlog then its absolutely worth your time.

Play this when you want to spend hours grinding high rounds the shittiest custom map ever and your friend dies on glitchy collision and ends your round 40 run. 10 Quadrillion out of 10

This World War 2 Call Of Duty game has to be the best game in the series because it shows the horrors of World War 2 that soldiers had to go through. Also the campaign overall is very iconic and ahead of its time. The soundtrack is also a very iconic and can be a little scary at times. Also, the zombies in this game is very fun and again scary due to the soundtracks and looks of the zombies maps.
Honestly this game holds up. Now yes playing at 4K gives it an advantage but gameplay wise and mechanically the game was relatively solid. I love Reznov as a character. He is a bad ass but also a really well written character. Also has Xbox 360 controller support in game but you need to enter a command to use it. But it works instantly after putting it in. Also while I do enjoy the challenge of the game. The grenade spam was a bit too much sometimes. At times I also felt a bit bored due to some relativeness in missions and the lack of consistent checkpoints also hurt it a bit. Other than that play it!
Was a bit late to playing this game although I did play it on Xbox a few years after it came out but this is a great game. Campaign is fun, not as memorable as others but it is still good. However what is memorable is the fact that this is the first introduction of zombies. I am a long-time CoD Zombies fan and WaW zombies was always just fun. I recommend this game for anyone who is revisiting older Call of Duty games and wants to experience the birthplace of Zombies.
Haunting atmosphere and showing the true horrors of war, WAW is probably one of the best COD games out there and I highly recommend it
Best all around CoD entry imo. Masterpiece campaign, stellar multiplayer and the birthplace of Cod Zombies, a genre in of itself. With an active modding community for said zombies mode, the game never gets old

If u wanna experience the classic call of duty this is your game. Zombies are a bit glitchy tho, and there's some lag at times when first loading a map, but overall a great game. Having the four maps in zombies for free is also an extra.
The story is really good by showing actual clips that happend in ww2. And its also the first call of duty game to include zombies.
Pacific Campain is great. Red army campain is great. Nazi zombies is great. Its cool to see a campain in the pacific.
One of the best CoD games i honestly say, it shows the horrors of war in the eyes of a person trying to survive World war 2, and a classic i would pass down to my children, I hate how Activision went away from this, instead for a more hollywood style like CoD WW2 or Vangard i highly recommend this game instead of the slop that is now being created by CoD.
I wanted to try the Zombies how they were started and discovered the most amazing single player campaign game to boot.
This game is so well done, I see why COD games blew up around this time, they had the master recipe.

This game has a special place in my heart for being one of the first ever games i played back when i was just a lil dingus with his new PS3,now reliveing the moments that were badass in this game's campaign. Buy this game if you want a historical action boost because holy crap this game delivered and it still does today.
The best story and writing out of the Call of Duty: campaigns.
August 6th, 1945 we dropped a nuke called "Little Boy". In 1946, the finest minds of the Japanese Goverment's R&D worked extensively to develop a weapon that wouldn't cause physical destruction to America; but cultural destruction. Overseen by project lead, one Dr. Osamu Tezuka and his team of scientists, known informally as "Unit 765"; worked extensively for seventeen years on codename "Project Astro". And, finally, on January 1, 1963, the creation of a destructive psychological bomb that in forty years time, would leave the West and its culture in complete disarray, a "Troonification" bomb known as "Anime".
Pretty difficult even on regular difficulty for Call of Duty standards, I probably died equivalent if not more times on regular difficulty here than I have on Veteran difficulty for other games. Graphics are super solid and have aged well, gunplay is satisfying, the campaign is amazing, and this game was the introduction of zombies, nothing significant to complain about here.
The campaign is the best in the entire series, seamlessly combining action and gritty realism. It introduced the iconic zombie mode that is now a staple in the franchise, setting a standard for future installments, which activation completely disregards now.
A classic take on ww2 through the eyes of the american and russian sides, it is a bit aged but this game is highly revered for a reason, and who can say no to some good ol nazi zombies
I strictly play this for zombies, however, the standalone game-mode that's been shipped is heavily outdated and in dire need of some major tweaks. If you are going to be purchasing this to play zombies as well I'd strongly recommend installing the 'Nazi Zombies Remastered' mod by JBShady. It finally makes it playable once more and not to mention, enjoyable.
The rest of the game is good too.
Absolute classic, custom zombies in this game is still amazing til this day and the campaign, mp, and base zombies maps are just too good not to play. Also, you get the full game with all dlc only running you $20 while on console its still over $60 on sale and custom zombies maps are always free, fun, and safe to download from sites. Especially UGX. Don't fall for the "ooo downloading and playing bo3 customs is safer and world at war customs will get you a virus" when its the exact opposite. Minimum RCE Exploits and hackers ruining your games, let alone destroying your pc, also somehow runs the lowest risk of getting your computer hacked compared to mw2 and on (especially bo3. though bo3 with T7 is fine, this game is safer in every way (id still download Plutonium for more server options.) Servers are still very active even without plutonium, more than on console which is rare. This is the best COD on PC.
