Kinda deep hole. Very Good Game.
this game is really good and the storyline is good
Overall, I think that this game is something between 7 and 8/10. The strongest side of this product in my opinion is the story. If you really like the dark climate and interesting detective vibes, you will be satisfied. From the technician, part is fine with some mistakes. It is easy to find that this game have is not an AAA game. Grafic looks really fine, but I played on 4k. Animations are pretty average. During my games I found some music or graphic bugs, but overall it's above my expectations. Music is superb, the sound around you build a proper horror climate. The last thing so the gameplay. Well also here you can find 2 part of coin. From the better side, the puzzles are really interesting, also the level isn't easy. During my 8 hours of gameplay, I didn't feel boring because the game give you some new technics and tools in the next chapters. From the second side, shooting and some other part of gameplay have a wooden feeling. If you play in some perfect game in their own type you will fill that shooting isn't at the proper level, also the parkour elements are.... let's say average. But to not ends with negative perspective I also admit that this game is scary, I played and watched many horrors but the atmosphere and jump scares here are on good level, of course this will not beat the classics positions like Amnesia, but even though this game have scary moments. Summarize this 8 Hours was a pleasure especially the story. 7.5/10
fantastic!
Recommending it (got it on sale):
- Intrigue/mystic story.
- Nice puzzles.
- Vibes of Amnesia, Blair Witch, Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth, The Forest.
To Devs:
- required items for solving the obstacle is always within 10m - too easy.
- paths are colored - too easy.
- opening safe chapter - you need to change numbers on lockpad slowly in order to open it - not intuitive and made me think that I did not guessed the right combination - although I did.
A hilarious eight hours through thirteen (the spooky number) chapters. Visually bland, nonsensical plot, weirdly misogynistic.
I liked.
This is certainly not Outlast, but nevertheless the game has its own unusual vibe.
Bro have a nice cup of tea or coffee while reading this rant that im going to be having. This game is so so boring i have played a decent amount of horror games but this one just makes me want to end it all. The animations are choo choo charles and the graphics are alright but doesnt make the game any better. Story left me unsatisfied and dont get me started with the jumpscares it is the same equivalent as going on fortnite and loading up a "horror" map. However, the puzzles are quite interesting to solve but everything else just wanted me to gouge out my eyes with a rusty spoon and get tetanus from it. Overall, if you want a puzzle game is alright but if you want a good horror game escape from this.
There are very good stages in this game, it is pretty scary and required time for this one is very well put, except it takes a while to put the pieces together and understand why and how it comes down to gutting your wife or not, no way I would have read the papers in the hag's place.
hella good
Considering the price, it's worth playing, I recommend it.
Very Impressive and deep going Game. 100% Worth to give it a shot.
Puzzles are bit annoying sometimes but besides that a great experience
While I feel a bit conflicted about comparing this game to Amnesia, it is apparent that that's where the inspiration came from.
The Beast Inside is a lovely psychological horror game with full-voice acting, an immersive environment, and a well crafted visual engine that amplifies the fear-factor.
I enjoyed the 12 hours I put in. Some scenes actually had me amped up and frightened.
The puzzles aren't terribly difficult, and using the cypher to decode messages is a nice touch, although I wish there were more scenes that utilized it.
The atmosphere and ambiance in each area is serene and simultaneously unsettling, quickly changing your mood from secure to survive. The relativity and sense of size and dimension makes the world feel familiar and relatable, which some how makes each scene that much more immersive and compelling.
Occasionally I found myself trying to wander off the suggested direction and explore, and in some chapters this makes sense as you will find essential items in the same areas as notes and other clues, assuring you that you haven't missed any lore.
The anomaly detector was.....out of place, and the built in mini-game made these segments feel kind of unnecessary.
The overall story is well done, and the voice acting adds to the emotion, but for some reason the presence of paranormal entities kind of kills the vibe for me. There was a tinge of realism and the slowly setting insanity within both characters kept me enthralled and eager to reach the end of the story, but Im kind of annoyed how there is no explanation as to how the zombies existed? Were they just delusions?
Anyways, the revolver is for one level and the boss levels suck. Buy on sale.
7/10
This game is ridiculously scary it is a phenomenal horror game that most likely will provoke anxiety and fear while playing. Only a handful of games have been able to make me jump out of my chair and The Beast Inside was able to accomplish that many times. While at the same time it's relly intriguing and relly similarly to Resident Evil 7 it's also perfect if you like clues, puzzles and double story games
Worth it! I is a good game and it deserve to be played!
I'll begin with the positives. The visuals are immersive. The game begins with an interesting story and eagerness to explore more of the house & village. The voice acting and writing are both believable. Was it worth the sale price? Yes.
My biggest grievance is that the story is predictable. I was hopeful to the point I was expecting to be thrown off - but I predicted the ending plot twist from early on. Much of the game felt rushed. In similar horror games every newly-unlocked door is a new adventure or lore discovery. Here only a handful meant anything. The gameplay is typical for horror but feels a bit too much like Amnesia, and although the bosses look awesome they feel like knock-offs from other games.
Dont be fooled by the age! this game was a masterpiece!
Pros:
+ Graphics. This game looks so good, I wish it had a photo mode; but even without it, I made a ton of beautiful screenshots.
+ Atmosphere. This is more of a Resident Evil 7 kind of horror, so it's not scary but very atmospheric.
+ Puzzles. Even though they aren't very hard, they are quite fun.
+ Sound. Good sound quality, voice acting and music.
Cons (those shouldn't stop you from playing this game):
- There're several jump scares. I usually consider that a mauvais ton, but given that it's an indie game and those few jump scares aren't really annoying, it's not that bad.
- Minor bugs.
- A few segments are quite boring.
Interesting story.
There was a point where I picked up what is, ostensibly, a Ghost Busters style spoopy-detector and the whole thing suddenly lost all sense of tension. I guess it could've been a good psychological horror game, and it certainly started off that way, but it disappeared the moment I had to start wandering around scanning things like I'm in Scary Movie 2, or worse; Thirteen Ghosts.
Hi everyone!
I personally would not recommend this game because I found it rather boring. Adam's missions are boring and repetitive. I didn't like that adam's mission zone was such a big area. Either I've lost the path for the mission or it wasn't obvious where I had to go. The puzzles were nice but I think it does not match with the game's genre. I thought about it as a horror game and because of the character switching it's hard for the game to deliver the desired atmosphere. Nicolas' story was good and the only reason why I kept playing till the end. Unfortunately, as I said the character switching ruined the horror experience because you could not focus on one single story.
Sometimes I missed the music in order to make the game more scary. The jumpscares were very much predictable and not scary. Sometimes I even missed some because I was not looking in the right direction. Both story lines were good in a way but they don't fit together in a single game. If they had been separated into two different games then it would've been way better. Oh and the voices of Adam and Nicolas were not a good choice.
I'm really disappointed when comparing the release with the demo version, as the latter one was well done. The jumpscares were perfect, the music was in the right spot and it contained the atmosphere a horror game needs. Unfortunately the dev team did not manage to get the release version to the same level as the demo version.
The real horror is the interaction system. Every time I try to pull off a wooden plank, I want to shoot myself.
And maybe that's the reason Adam and Nicolas went nuts when you feel like your imaginary friend is wrestling with your arm.
The strong point of the game was not the horror, but there were some chase sequences which were exciting (these may require a powerful computer).
The idea of a story told from two perspectives in different eras was interesting but not something incredible either.
I appreciate that some plot twists are unexpected and, some puzzles are addictive.
The Beast Inside is a captivating horror game that immediately impressed me with its stunning graphics and immersive storyline. The attention to detail in the environments is incredible, creating a truly atmospheric experience that pulls you into its eerie world. The narrative is gripping, blending a rich historical backdrop with tense psychological horror, and I’m excited to see where it goes next. Though I haven’t finished the game yet, I’m thoroughly enjoying the mystery and suspense it builds. Highly recommended for fans of horror games with beautiful visuals and compelling storytelling!
Very good
pretty good horror game
Gameplay worsens what otherwise is a gripping horror experience. Plenty of gameplay mechanics turn what would be a traditional horror title where story is the chief component into an almost fantasy walking simulator that involves the use of imaginative devices that detract from the pacing of the campaign. The final mission similarly has among the worst level design in an indie title I've ever experienced. Though the majority of the story is enjoyable, it falls short of a recommendation.
Perfect if you like clues, puzzles and double story games! I enjoyed it, but a little to much of the run away sections if you ask me.
Overall a great game if you can get it on sale. I got it for $3 dollars. I would be happy to pay $8 or less for this game. The game has a decent story and interactions instead of just having the basic popup scares and chases. The puzzles can be a bit challenging but never less i was happy with this game!

It freezes at a particular cinematic. It doesn't matter how I change the settings or which gaming computer I use. It blows, because the storyline is cool and I'd really like to continue the game, but alas, I am left with a broken game of which I have only played perhaps 1/4th of... Sad. (Reminds me of Sierra's bad-programming-problems in the 90's and 80's)
Strangely intriguing story, decent graphics, but suffers big time from a boatload of JANK in the gameplay department. This game had potential. Luckily, I only lost $4.
Remember these absolutely amazing demos and showcases from computer stores where they showcased demos where one wandered around in a stunning and thick atmosphere? Well, it feels like this game finally brought it to reality. Loved the atmo. Yes, it has some quirks here and there. But overall ***** -> 5/5.
Good Game!
非常好的游戏,剧情巨好,就是BUG有点多,故事前面比较恐怖,后半部分逐渐奇幻
The Beast Inside is a fun game. The storyline, which oscillates between two different characters and time periods, is solid and interesting (better than most recent movies). The graphics are good as it utilizes the Unreal Engine, and walking around taking in the scenery can be a relaxing experience. Which leads me to my next observation: there is really no point in exploring or trying to find hidden areas or secrets because there really aren't any - the game is quite linear. I was fine with this for this type of particular game because it revolves around the story, but I would have liked to have been able to try to find more hidden documents or diary pages which could have illuminated a bit more on the lore of the older time period and the characters of the story, such as Maria and Nicholas. If a part two ever comes out I would like it to have more in-depth lore and backstory, since a story like this could be expounded upon and even make a great tv show or graphic novel. The potential is there for a very engrossing story and could be utilized in later games.
The music is atmospheric and fits well with the game. Similarly, the voice acting is good and fits well with the characters.
The puzzles were interesting and not really difficult, although at times I would think too "out-of-the-box" if you will, while the answer was simple and easy to understand (I can overthink puzzles at times so this could just be me and others like me).
Overall, I found the game to be enjoyable and will buy a future sequel or similar game should the company behind The Beast Within release it in the future. Thank you for the enjoyable experience and keep up the hard work.
Hi Team, i am getting the "Fatal Error" as and when i start playing the game. I am operating this game on Alienware M18R2 gaming laptop. Can someone help me resolve this issue?
The Beast Inside is a first-person horror game. The game puts you on the trail of an unsolved murder, yet it was made over a hundred years ago. Along the way, you will come across many mysteries, sometimes intriguing, sometimes scary.
We find a lot of influence for this game, starting with Penumbra / Amnesia for the interactions and puzzles, Alan Wake for the investigation phases in broad daylight and the horrific phases at night, and also Outlast or Alien Isolation for the detector.
After all these references, does the game have its own identity? Absolutely, the scenario is really good, quickly we expect something close to the movie Shutter Island, where everything is only in the head of the protagonist but in fact not completely, there is much more reality than we think. The technique is correct, the gameplay is really varied and very good, between phases of investigations, puzzles, day, night where we stress and freak out a lot thanks to the atmosphere, phases where we have to escape our pursuers, the sound design is very good. The game ends in about ten hours but if you want to see the different endings, count about twenty hours (because the game does not have a chapter selection which could tire more than one).
14/20
I really enjoyed the story and vibe of the game for the most part. The visuals were great and the back and forth between the past and present was pretty fun. I didn't really enjoy using the Quantum Localizer very much. It slowed the game down a lot in spots. The first boss battle was very frustrating as one of the attacks will cause you to crouch down and you have to hit the crouch button to stand and be able to run again. I died several times because I didn't realize this was happening. The other big thing that was disappointing, probably the most disappointing thing about the game is that you cannot have multiple save files so you can't easily go back and explore the different endings without starting the game all over again. And completing the game removes the "Continue" option.
I still think the good outweighs the bad.
Oh yeah. If you're streaming and doing dramatic readings of the documents. Check them before you do or you'll be reading THAT word. I luckily saw it before it was too late.
Quick Summary/TL;DR
A wonderful experience, though could certainly use some polish. A thinking-person's game greatly improved by the enjoyment of cipher puzzles and literary knowledge. Definitely worth playing with some replay value to see the clues you missed once you know the family's secrets.
Like the night, it's a secret / Sinister dark and unknown.
I'm not entirely sure when I picked up this game, possibly during one of Steam's Halloween sales some years ago, but I needed a new horror game to stream on Twitch and found it among the games in my library. I figured I'd give it a try, not sure what to expect, and I was certainly not disappointed! I will admit that I spent a good deal of the game very confused as to what was happening, but it kept me coming back to find the answers to my questions and it all came together wonderfully at the end.
Graphics
The graphics, for the most part, are quite excellent. There are some base Unreal assets used, but they blend it rather seamlessly with the rest of the settings as to not be glaring. (Also, it could be that I've played too much House Flipper and so immediately recognize many of the furniture pieces >_>') There is also something odd going on at the end of the game with the fingers of the character models being far chunkier than they had been during the previous hours of gameplay.
Those, however, are nitpicks. Illusion Ray Studio did an absolutely spectacular job, especially on the landscapes. I regularly found myself just stopping to admire the lighting and beauty of a field or section of forest. The character models were well designed and easily distinguishable from one another, and I really enjoyed the outfit decisions for them in both of the timelines!
Gameplay
This is, admittedly, where I have most of my issues. The lesser of which were that the rope-throw mechanic was a little frustrating at times, the matches and lantern were rarely needed outside a handful of moments, and that there were far too many chase scenes for my liking (though that, I think, is more of a personal preference).
My biggest gripe is actually about the quantum cloud gun thing. It seemed completely out of place in the 1970's timeline when nothing else was even remotely scifi. I feel it was an unnecessary addition that could have been replaced with giving Adam some investigative knowledge and deductive reasoning, possibly being able to visualize the scene based on footprints or other clues in the area. That being said, I did like the quantum gun as a concept on its own and I think would be fun in something that was more "ghost hunting"-ish or even a game that had more scifi elements to it.
Other than those issues, I quite enjoyed the gameplay. The QT events give you plenty of time to realize what they are (though I often embarrassed myself by trying to anticipate the button to click and getting it wrong), the path-finding is mostly intuitive though a little odd at times, the combat was decently easy to slip into, and the puzzles were a good mental workout.
Which leads me nicely to my next section.
Puzzles
It has been quite a while since a game made me pull out a notepad to figure out a puzzle, but that's one of the things I absolutely loved about them! I felt they were well balanced, giving my brain a workout without being overly complicated or frustrating (except the self-inflicted frustration when I made things more complicated than they needed to be). The instructions were somewhat vague, so I understand the irritation of some reviewers on here, but personally I felt they were informative enough to let one come to the correct conclusion if one was in the right mindset.
Sound Design, Characters, & Voice Acting
The general sound design is so-so, I feel. There are a great number of sound clips that were repetitive when it came to actions made by characters or enemies. The atmospheric sound, on the other hand, was excellent. The atmosphere in general was very well done. In my opinion, the game relied rather heavily on jump scares early on which is something I typically feel is lazy-horror and in many games becomes annoying rather than scary. However, they were spaced out decently enough that the atmosphere of the setting was able to seep in and actually make those jump scares effective instead of irritating.
The characters and characterization were quite interesting and engaging. Watching both Nicolas' and Adam's decent into madness was an absolute delight. There *were* some things that bothered me about Adam's characterization in particular, though. A number of times I found myself going "How could you not know/figure this out? Aren't you a government cipher?? This should be easy for you!" as well as finding it rather hilarious that he had trouble remembering how to do things that should be second nature simply for the sake of a tutorial. Not game-breaking, exactly, but definitely took me out of the moment. Again this is a nitpick, and I generally loved the writing for all of the characters as well as watching them evolve throughout the game.
The voice acting was superb, matching the characters and situations quite well. There were a few moments when Nicolas didn't quite seem to know what he was saying, but overall every VA did an amazing job. The emotional scenes could be felt clearly, and the teetering madness of both Adam and Nicolas was perfect. I do, however, want to give a particular shout-out to Laurel Lefkow who gave life to Maria. Her babbling to herself while I snuck around Maria's house was an absolute delight to listen to and was honestly one of the best depictions of a "crazy old religious lady" that I have seen.
Story
This, I feel, is where the game really shines. There were a number of other reviewers complaining about the story, that it was confusing or didn't actually answer any questions. For me, the story definitely did answer all my questions at the end. Even if one wasn't familiar with the heavy influences and inclusions of literary work. It DOES, however, help a great deal if one is versed in any way with Lovecraft, Poe, and Robert Louis Stevenson. I often found myself getting even more frightened simply because of a name I found on a business card, or an event mentioned in one of the many, informative notes scattered around.
The environmental storytelling was also quite excellent, telling a tale of what came before without saying a word, or giving context to other notes and newspaper clippings.
It is always wonderful to feel vindicated when something is revealed in a mystery that you suspected to be true, and this was how it was for me at several moments near the end of the game. The way everything was brought together and revealed felt right and not at all rushed, and honestly that's the sort of thing I want from a mystery that I'm playing through.
Thank you so much, Illusion Ray Studio, for this amazing experience! I look forward to playing your other games, as well as what else you might come up with next!

I don't really like horror games
6.5 / 10
This game is very boring, i have more gun putting a puzzle together than playing this pile of crap. do not buy
I love this game. It is truly a hidden gem
I'm torn on this game. The beginning starts off very strong and definitely has some spooky scenes but then it quickly becomes predictable and the horror aspect is lost altogether. The story is...intriguing but delivered poorly. In the beginning I was excited to learn about the story but about halfway through I started just rushing through to just beat the game. I will say that most of the story is VERY linear. Just keep running straight. Some of the puzzles are decent but at times poorly explained. There are completely wasted mechanics, such as lighting candles and using a lantern...you spend the entire game gathering matches and fuel for the lantern but you really only use them for the first couple chapters, about 85% of the game you don't need them, so I ended the game with like 200+ matches.
So again, very torn, it feels very much like someone's first attempt at a video game but if they could take feedback and make some minor tweaks it could become an amazing game. It's a fairly short game so if you catch it on sale I'd say snag it and play through, just don't have AAA hopes.
perfect horror game for the halloween/dark season
story starts strong, endings good but pretty pretictable
i liked the smart puzzles very much
Loved the puzzles, jumpscares, and story. 9.5/10
Dude spends matches to light candles, but can't take at least one candle with him
I love horror games, but this is just boring. Arrived in chapter 4 and I was practically falling asleep. The code-breaking mini games were more entertaining than the actual horror elements . Has pretty graphics, but that's just not enough to make me want to finish it .
The Beast Inside
Rating: 3.5/5
Title: "Scared to Death, but Confused about Why I’m Crawling in a Barn Attic"
Review:
If you've ever thought, "I love horror games, but can we add some Civil War flashbacks, bizarre puzzles, and a house that needs serious remodeling?" then The Beast Inside is your dream come true. This game has all the essentials for a spine-chilling experience: dark forests, creepy basements, and enough jump scares to knock your mouse off the desk. It's a mix of horror and mystery with a sprinkle of history, all wrapped in gorgeous graphics. But fair warning, the game jumps between two timelines—one in the 1970s with Adam and another in the 1800s with Nicolas. So, if you're not ready for a time-traveling, journal-writing, barn-exploring ride, you might want to grab a flashlight and brace yourself.
Pros:
Atmosphere is terrifyingly beautiful: The game's environments are a masterclass in how to make your skin crawl.
Dual-storyline concept: Two protagonists in different eras! It’s like a horror history class.
Top-tier jump scares: Guaranteed heart palpitations if you’re into that.
Cons:
Timeline jumps can be confusing: Wait, was I Adam or Nicolas? And why am I suddenly in a creepy cellar?
Puzzles range from intriguing to "just-why": Some make sense, others feel like punishment.
Occasional bugs: Nothing says horror like glitching through a floor mid-chase.
Overall: A unique experience that blends story and scares with a little historical flair. Just don’t be surprised if you're left both horrified and scratching your head.
