I completely forgot about this game, for whatever reason I preordered it and never thought about it again lol
Okay so.. I can appreciate what this game is trying to accomplish, and for those of you who are thinking that this is like a relaxing game to chill with- it's not.
It took me probably 30 tries to beat the first boss set. When you hit something, there are no(?) invincibility frames, so if you were hit with lets say a spinning object or a waving one, it is likely to repeatedly smash you until you die. And this game LOVES to kill you. All scenery is death scenery-
-In a game about avoiding obstacles, that sounds about right? But when I swipe to the left or right to avoid the main obstacles directly in front of me (such as moving bugs, plants that shoot upwards, etc) and then I die or take damage because I touched a LEAF that was on the far outside border as scenery? Come on.
There are, as many others have expressed- many things you are expected to shift and avoid seamlessly that literally do not seem possible without taking damage/dying, or without having already died and knowing to start dodging far in advance.
Maybe that's what the devs intended, but I am personally not a fan and not amused especially when it's happening in the tutorial phase.
Bird game is a fine a little game. The art style is where it shines. it's good for some time just to see the black and white drawings. But controlling the bird isn't very fun. There is a wind mechanic that kind of takes away the fun of just flying around as the bird. It's kind of a rail shooter with the shooter aspect. I like that idea, but in the best rail shooters it is fun to move the ship. it's not fun be the bird.
I wish I could recommend this, especially since this is a bird game and I also like and try to support small indie developers. But with this game.. I just don't feel good recommending it.
The game definitely has an interessting artstyle and it starts off nice and interessting, but I'd argue it's also slightly missleading, since this is less a relaxing bird flight simulator and more a bossfighting and avoiding of obstacles kinda game, with a difficulty level that is just too high in my opinion. I don't doubt that there are a ton of people out there who'd like this kind of game, but me, as someone who loves bullet hells and such, somehow don't.
If it wasn't for the tedious and incredibly long boss battles, that are not just unforgiving with health as well as kind of badly telegraphed, it would be fine, but those battles took all the joy for me. Things hit you, when you are barely able to tell depth and were to dodge, specific key buttons don't work and things become a memorize each pattern until you know how to beat it, and still a single little mistake can mess you up and having you start all over.
Tl,dr:
Nice artstyle, difficult bird flying game with bosses and obstacles to avoid. Fun for some people, but definitely not for everyone.
This game is very fun and cool, i enjoy game like this, I love cuphead so i thought Id give this a whirl, definently buy it it was only 1.5 dollars for me, DEVS PLEASE ADD THIS TO THE NINTENDO SWITCH THAT WOULD BE VERY AWESOME
Otherwise the bosses are fun but kinda hard at first on what to do, actually happy I got it at first I was weary on buying it.
It's a simple by design, but very hard game. So if you want to just get a game for 1 evening to "just relax" this is not game for you.
But if you want some hardcore flying simulation with 2 bosses, each of whom has 30+ different attacks (no joke) and who by the end kill you with 1 hit, if you want that kind of old-school gameplay - this is game for you.
Pros:
1. Game is very challenging, and bosses are great. Levels are nicely designed too.
2. Music is fitting.
3. Graphics are also neat, you can choose between normal view and negative (my choice btw).
Cons:
1. Very steep learning curve. 3rd boss will be hard as hell at first. And hard difficulty gives you 1 life for a whole boss.
2. I personally play with k/b&m, and I can't use mouse to control the bird. And using only k/b for that type of game is kinda hard. If you have a controller, you can probably ignore that point.
3. There are couple of glitches, like when you press pause you can sometimes basically kill yourself (indirectly). But checkpoints are close to each other, so it's not that big of a deal.
So yeah. If the end, game is just hard, but not bad at all. I give it 7 fish out of 10. Not great, but above average. Mostly, because of bosses.
Bird Game has a beautiful art style and music that makes it truly a work of art. With that said, I was disappointed with the gameplay as I found the visual depth issue to be too jarring which in turn made everything harder than it needed to be. Good value, cute, chill and deceptively challenging. Main concern is the difficulty might be too high for the average gamer. 100% worth the price. The difficulty scales a bit strangely, but overall it's a fantastic game and worth the buy if you are here contemplating it.
Don't let this beautiful art distract you, this is an "unnecessary" hard game, i mean first, when you design a game witch involved maneuver in order to avoid ennemy, you don't put a white ground, the player needs reference to estimate distances.
So at every turn you just wish you will not collide...
I didn't go through the first level. There is really too much stuff to evade for the first boss...
I don't know for what age range this game is made, but i don't know if a kid would enjoy.
The first boss music was cool.
Honestly one of the best games ive ever played. imean it takes in to account all fo the things that make a grate game. My sister knows the developer personally and he hase put tons of time into this game. I hope you injoy the game like i will.
P.S. : amasing controler sapport and graphics.
Absolutely beautiful game. Runs without a hitch. Loads of fun with a good level of difficulty. 10/10
Bird Game is incredibly well done. It is short and sweet, unless you're terrible at it like me and spend 30 minutes trying to get past the second set of logs, but otherwise it really is a wonderful game and has a great atmosphere. It's versatile in the way that you are able to play it through in one sitting, or play whenever you just feel like flying around. 10/10 would buy the soundtrack and a frog boss t-shirt. Thank you for making this game.
Minimalistic and beautiful, Bird Game doesn't dissapoint. I have yet to complete Bird Game but I plan on seeing it the whole way through -- this game just needs so, so, so much more attention.

The game is chill, and the art is splendid. Even though it's relaxing, that frog will have no mercy ... neither will the ladybugs. Bosses are challenging. My poor bird has died so many times. I love this game, and I've really enjoyed it.
Bought it because I love birds, and everybody should, they are beautiful creatures. Is a fun game for bird lovers, and maybe those that aren't, even if you are an awful person for not loving birds. Would recommend.
Great game with amazingly smooth graphics. Difficulty level? Perfect. 10/10 recommended.
God never had I want to shove a wii remote up my butt but also it's so much fun and fufilling when you win
After finishing Dark Souls 4 (not out yet, special beta tester key), I have really struggled to find a game which properly stimulates my love for atmosphere, deep lore, and real, man's-man challenge. Once I found this game, that struggle was over. This has it all: memorable npcs, deep tactical gameplay, a killer soundtrack, gorgeous, stylized atmosphere, and of course, a difficultly level worthy of a veteran of gaming's toughest series.
The one thing I'll say that it lacks? Waifus.
I feel like the dev has great ideas, and hope that he will reach out to me to develop the next game in what could be a house-name franchise: Waifu Bird Simulator.
Edit: 11/10 would bird again.
Edit Edit: As a lot of the people here in the reviews seem to agree, this is definitely a "Bird" version of Dark Souls, a sort of "Bird Souls."
Loved it! Challenging but beautiful. Definitely would reccomend, short but entertaining.
(Also if you have sensitive eyes like me there is a dark mode in the settings which was really nice)
this game... very nice game. I had 0 expectations, and this game absolutley blew me away, from the art style to the fluid controls to the darn music man everything is 9/10 or above. truly the best indie game I've played in years.
(there should be a hell yes button for reccomendations)
this game is so good but beware of the bee and the dragonfly they go at fucking mach 10 by the way i have converted to satanism after playing this
