The year is 2023, the news is crawling with fear-mongering stories of things to come, the end is near, climate change, WW3, Asteroids, Civil Unrest, and anything else they can think of, but in the background, you can see the government prepping for something, but what. You decide it's time to go off the grid and prepare for the worst.
In this Modern Day Survival Simulator, you will be faced with surviving in the Appalachian mountains while you prepare for an apocalyptic event. Hunt gather, build, and explore to get what you need to survive, but keep up with what's going on, it's about to get really bad in the world, Loot and Hoard everything you can before the time comes that it will not be around anymore, will you be prepared, Come and experience BugOut.

do not buy. simply a waist of your money.
I love this game and the concept is truly outstanding it came out originally at a time when no one was doing pandemic post apopalyptic games. The dev is a single person working on the game and i highly recommend it as he is updating it anew under new engine. Join us on this fun game and see if you can use some of the survival skills you garner in real life lol have fun
If you are not going to finish the game you could at least have the decency to stop sales.
I get that it's early access but it's horrible lol. I played for about 15 minutes, very laggy even at the lowest setting, and I don't have a bad computer. It crashed twice. Needs major work.
it's in early access so has bugs but so far it has been a fun gaming experience for me. it's a different kind of survival game so be prepared. the graphics are great and game play is awesome. would recommend this game to all my friends that play survival games
I have been waiting a long time for this game to get it together. In other games if there is a problem that can't be fixed they get help from someone that knows how to fix the problem. I think Bugout would be a very good game to play if only given a chance.......
GAME DONT WORK
PLEASE NOTE: This is my Personal Opinion on what needs to be fixed, Changed or Added Into the game as this is an Alpha game There is bound to be bugs and glitches in the game which im sure will be taken care of as soon as possible. I love the game its truly Amazing and a great Idea It just needs a little more work done and ofcourse that was promised to us that he will keep working on it It just takes Time to do the Coding Necessary KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK Can't wait to see more progress done
Theres a Bug when you Craft the crafting station and sleep in a sleeping bag the Crafting Table dissapears atleast it did for me... You Die without warning of your health getting low... I wish there was a better map because I got completly lossed atleast make markers please ... The food is so Few and Far Between just like Branches... You should be able to Boil water to make Clean water... I truly hope he puts Animals in game... as of right now its Always day out... I wish they would make it so you can work on building up your Stamina with stats as you can do that in IRL ... The shop keep when you click on what he sales it wont let you switch back to your items so you can sale to him... Please make it so we have the Option to Continue or start over whenever we Die Depending on what Difficulty we set it at before we enter the game
The game wont start up after click "play" they just frozen then crash repeatly.
Nope. Nope. Nope. Its very clear that this is an indie game in early access, but still. I can't really see how this game can be any good in the future. Below average graphics, awful sound fx and bad gameplay. Controls are meh (often you can't even see anything to pick up, but you know its there).
I regret buying this game, but its too late to ask for a refund. All I can do is warn others about this game.
Do NOT buy. 2/10 and is thrown right into the the category of crap games and hidden in my library for good. What a waste of money and time.
After waiting a year and through many broken promises for an update this game has taken a huge step back. Literally everything about this game is worse now. Definitely not worth buying in this state.
Update June 26, 2020: After giving this game one last chance with "Major Update Version 1.0" it's abundantly clear it will likely never reach any potential it may once have had. To say it's broken would be an understatement. Progression is virtually impossible. Stone cannot be gathered or mined in any way. No quests other than the first quest of meet the campers will complete. Trading does not work. The flashlight is a small circle of light always focused on the ground in front of the player's feet so the light doesn't follow where you are looking. There's nothing aside from twine or rope to craft, build, or do as the most fundamental aspects of the game are non-functioning and as such you cannot acquire the necessary resources through any means whether that be gathering, trading, or completing quests. And this is after nearly three years since game release.
If I were to compare the current build of the game with the completely different and functional build that was originally released I would swear they were made by two entirely different developers. One statement from the current update news says it all, "There are so many changes that I cannot remember them all..." Translation: There is no changelog, just haphazard development that doesn't know where it's going or where it's been. And this is clear by the current, unplayable state of the game. Don't waste your money.
10 hours playing before board with the game. Most objects in game have no use. Updates are slow, (as of 12-14-2019 they still have not delivered the update due at end of February, so non existent would be a more accurate statement) Game seemed to have promise but no improvements have been made since i bought the game Will update review if my opinion changes.
okay so its now December 14 and still not a single update for a year now, a few messages saying its almost done, you know the old carrot on a stick trick. Glad I only got took for 15$ and it wasn't a full priced game. gives early access games a bad name.
So far it does not have much content, but it is still fun to walk around in and imagine the content that is coming soon!
Good game. Although still under development., there are lots of thing to do. Great graphics and gameplay
I only played this for about 1/2 hour. I did not know why I was playing. It was very lifeless and more of a walking simulator than anything. I can just go outside for that. Maybe if there was some content or reason to walk in a forest with no animals of people or zombies. I was very happy about Steams refund policy. Thank You Steam, as this has allowed me to find a good game, green hell.
This game has potential, but that's all it has.. very little content and quite boring to be honest. I walked around for ages, come across a couple of buildings with not much to. The paths just seem to go on and on with the same old trees and rocks and lead to nowhere. Took awhile to find my way back to where I started as the map is useless and displays no info at all (why is this even there?). I did see a rabbit and a snake which was the only form of life (apart from the guy in the store which I wanted to smack over the head with my axe). There's just nothing to do in this game. I know it's only early access, but come on devs, this should have not been released until it was at least playable without being frustrating. When a decent update has been made and a lot more content added then maybe I will change my point of view, but until then, it's a big thumbs down for me.
EDIT: Well, thought I'd give this another go as it's been some time since I played it last.. This game still sucks big time.. map has not improved at all, virtually no content as I walked for ages and like the first time I played this just trees, trees and more trees.. Whatever updates there have been must be little to none as I have not seen any improvements at all, especially with the graphics.. One of the most boring games I've every played.. and I've played a lot of boring games.. I really had hopes for this game but it doesn't seem to be progressing much at all.. Time to put this in the 'Abandonware bin' i think..
I had this game since Oct 2018 and been patient for the bug fixes to play ,at this stage you basically still cant play it and the dev wants $14. Complete joke save your money im not sure they will ever get it fixed by the looks of it some of the bugs that were their at the beginning are still there today. I can no longer recommend this game
Job well done. Quick reminder that this game is early access to those who tend to forget. The developer has done a wonderful job so far. Can't recall the last time an early access game looked this good. I hope he/she will get enough support and has the drive to continue to improve and expand the game.
For now I will be very brief because the game is at very early stages and wouldn't be fair to talk a lot about Pros and Cons, because let's face it, there are plenty of both! But who care's it's early access and that's great because the players get to choose how the game is molded and which direction it goes.
But that said I am really enjoying the atmosphere and it's a nice refreshing break from all the other survival games out there.
At the current stage there isn't a lot to do other than explore and gather food and water, herbs for trading and basic crafting of structures etc. So it's really just the point of survival now, but the Road map looks amazing! Soon animal AI will also cause threats and eventually Disaster Events will be the focus and this will push the player to prepare for this occasion.
If you are looking for another DAY Z or SCUM type game then look elsewhere! This is a Player versus the Environment game and that is the very thing that people should expect as it's really for the purists out there. It's a thing called Hardcore Survival! This is a game that you can lose yourself for hours and forget about work etc. Wander the environment listen to the sounds of nature and just take in the wonderful atmosphere the game has to offer.
I must say the best thing about this game is the great community and very hard working committed Development Team.
These 2 guys are working day in and day out to improve and polish this already marvelous stone into a precious Gem that it will be one day. I am certain of this! I played a lot of similar games out there, but never have I been so impressed at such an early stage in development. The passion, the devotion it just pours out, like paint onto a canvas! I have to admit at first I was hesitant, but now the more I play the more I am addicted.
This is really all I have to say for now, but I will be updating my review after Early access, so I can really show off the features and also add some videos of the game play.
