The Game
As a mechanic you and your dragon explore what is left of humanity's last refuge: a fleet of huge flying ships which hover over an endless ocean. To survive in this post-apocalyptic world you have to scavenge your surroundings and defend yourself against creatures and other players. You have to build a base, improve it and learn. Equipment and tower upgrades help you to get you own food, water and electricity supply which is essential for survival in DARCO.
You encounter mechanical beasts in the world. These creatures can be converted and used to your own benefit. You also come across hostile dragons that you have to combat. The dragons, belonging to different elements, can be bred though and make it easier to explore and fight.
The Story
After the greatest human invention, mankind was at the peak of its civilization, being able to create all sorts of technical wonders. Then, however, a horrible disaster struck, that flooded the earth and rendered the few remaining patches of land uninhabitable.
Foreseeing this tragic event, the greatest engineers built habitats with ecosystems to their liking in the form of huge, flying ships. This fleet, being able to escape the dangers of the flood, would become the peaceful home of mankind for centuries.
This changed when hordes of dragons began attacking the ships, and thus the Dragon War began. Through the ingenuity of humankind, mechanical beasts were created resembling animals, which were living in these habitats centuries back, to combat their new foes. This wasn't enough, though: humanity fought until no warriors were left, and the few who survived were left to one basic principle: Every man for himself.
Humanity was defeated, the fleet scattered, but the automated factories inside the ships continued producing beasts. With no continued maintenance throughout the chaos of the war, errors in production were bound to occur. The beasts malfunctioned and began attacking everything living and breathing.
You are one of the few survivors, a mechanic, of what was once a great Victorian civilization. As your day starts and you are out completing an important quest, you come across a young dragon. You pity the injured cub, so you decide to save it and from this moment on it never leaves your side, and you eventually realize: this dragon is your new companion. Take care of it, and you will grow stronger together.
Game Mechanics
When you arrive in the world of DARCO, you are given a choice of which elemental dragon you would like to start with. This starter dragon is your companion, never leaving your side throughout the game. That doesn't stop you though from creating dragons and your own small dragon army.
The mechanic beasts inhabiting the ships are a continuous danger together with other players. With your skills you are able to refactor some of them for your needs, even though only for a limited time.
You have to fight starvation and dehydration as your greatest enemy. Since you are not able to come back into the ship due to a lock down, you must learn to hunt and build yourself a home. Survival gets easier as soon as you can build your tower and with that better equipment. You can't hide in your fortress though, since you need to explore other ships to find new resources and confront the growing dangers.

This game needs to be removed from steam store if it is abandon
Game is no longer being developed. Devs have been Vac banned, and they swear they arent doing a cash grab, yet they still have this game (which they admit is unfinished in a post and will no longer be worked on) up for sale. And the first bit of news to come out will push the blurb about no longer working on the game down out of sight. How would people know this is abandoned without something on the main page? But the devs know they are scummy and trying to grab free cash.

the day has come that we always wanted to avoid.
we will have to stop the production of "Darco" for an undetermined timespan. Unfortunately the financial success was not achieved and we are no longer able to sustain production.
Honestly we are not even able to sustain basic means which is the reason for us to stop.

The official Darco Servers wil stay online as long as possible. The friends recruit friends promotion will continue and you will get your reward in january. We commited to do so and we will stick to it.

RIP. Game officially abandoned. It was a good idea, but no follow through. Be ware of this development team in the future. Most EA projects don't make it.
dead game sadly
Once again fell victim to a decent looking intro, reviews that talk about "potential" rather than substance, gameplay streams that make a game seem more fun than it really is, and devs that can't or won't deliver what they promised. This is the sad state of EA. Buyer beware as the devs are careful to state to cover their legal behinds. Perhaps I've learned my lesson this time or perhaps I'll be a sucker for the next pretty looking video. Cha-ching baby!
Positive:
- Direct contact to the developer team per Discord
- Developers respond to suggestions and ideas
- Reported bugs will be fixed asap
- nice graphics for an EA title
- new fresh setting (dragon / Steampunk / survival)
- friendly community
Negative:
- There are a few bugs left, but the developers are work hard on it.
There definitely is potential in this game.

Game was good until the last update. They introduced jitter with player movement, but overdid it, making it awkward to get about.
I really like this game and can see it turning out to be amazing. Yes there are a few bugs but game play is fun and the crafting is cool. I'm really happy i got this game.
Too much concept not enough game, maybe in 5 years when they start to put something in the game
This is an early access Review and as such is my opinion based on its current build state and experimental playability.
In its current build i cannot recommend this game.
The mechanical animals are way to aggressive. (I get this is the main pve aspect of the game) The main spawn map is saturated with them to the point ive come out a spawn point and there was one right outside the door to maul me to death. Dragon is useless, its pathing is fubar and it pretty much gets stuck somewhere and cant follow you. Once you get to far from it it says it has been defeated and will respawn in 15 minutes. So basically Draco is useless. The game has a leveling based system; basically you get experience; level up; spend points on learning crafting plans. I would say this would be a great feature, but it really isnt. Why you might ask? because the animals make it to damn hard for you to sit in crafting menus to bother learning which plans need to be crafted first to craft the secondary plans. Not to mention the Leveling is solely based on gaining learning points, and does nothing for your health, defence, stamina, etc. Basically leveling systems are meant to make you stronger not limit when you can or cant craft something. Not being able to craft something for lack of materials should be the only cause for that.
The games current state is stable to the point you can run for your life and never be able to build. So i would say give it a try and help this game get going by buying it early access; if you like being chased by mechano animals for 99% of the time never having the time to farm and craft weapons to defend yourself.
Again I have only spent an hour or 2 on this game so this review is again based on current playability. I plan to continue trying this game on each new patch to see if things are progressing toward being able to actually play and not die right out the spawn gate.
Epilogue:
So as of what december this game is no longer being worked on and has kurfloppped. With what i saw during early access i had a feeling this would eventually happen. But what i did not expect was a month before this startling revelation they hosted this game as a steam sale item and ripped everyone of money before shutting down the project. Im guessing they were hoping for some much needed infusion of cash to keep the project going. But im more on the side that thinks they grabbed the money and ran. I hope this indy game publisher files for bankruptcy and develops under a new logo because that will be the only way they will get money from me. Maybe not even then...
I added this to my wish list about a week or so ago to follow. I was on the fence with the whole concept of mechanical mobs, but thought what the hey when I got the email that it was released for early access, and wasn't expensive.
Only played for almost 3 hours so far, so just barely scratching the surface. You have a few typical early access launch things that I'm sure will be addressed fairly quickly. Developers seem active on the discord which is a +++. Took me a few minutes to get rolling when first launching the game. Mechanics are familiar, but different feel to me. If you've played any of the popular survivals at all, should only take 5 minutes or so to pick them up.
I really like the dragon companion concept, and can't wait to see that built upon. Overall, I would leave anyone with this: If you enjoy early access and survival, its worth a shot. Holds alot of potential. If you are easily frustrated, but like the survival genre, I would suggest holding off for a patch or two. Let them get a kink or two worked out. Definitely put on your wish list and follow though. If you are easily frustrated and don't like survival, then I'm not sure why you are reading this right now. :-)

Time = 4.5 hours
1. Fix tabbing out of the game causes curser to stay on screen after coming back.
2. Game animals are way too loud.
3. The mechanical beast can't be lowered byy the audio setttings.
4. Menu doesnt go away after destroying camp fire
5. Invisible walls up top. in the rear.
6. Can't place campfires inside your base.
7. Can't place anything inside your base.
8. Can punch enemies for never ending exp
9. Can't build on objects like bridges. (not sure if its a bug) Note: could plave foundation but not chopping block.
10. Have to be under the water to drink it.
11. Can't take building items out of my hand or switch items once ive started placing them.
12. Crafting menu doesnt record accurate resources in your inventory.
13. I could fly through like 40% of the objects in the world while on the dragon.
14. Could breath fire under water (bug?)
15. Weight of dragon was 71 pounds with nothing on it but had a max weight if 25?
16. None of the audio bars actaully lower the volume except the master volume.
17. Could kill everything with my hands at lvl 1 (bug or balance fix)
18. All the scrap piles disappeared for the server. None of us could mine piles of scrap anymore.
19. Got like 500k Exp (what ever level ~40 is) from punching a dragon while some guy punched mine.
20. Couldn't repair the ax no matter what i tried. Maybe i was doing it wrong or it cant be repaired just thought i'd throw this in for an even 20.
21. Shit thought of another thing. Enemy health bar doesn't do down when you hit someone.
Reason for the rating being so low is because of all the bugs and lack of content.
I understand that this is an EAG but charging 30$ for this is a bit crazy.
Had a few people come into the streamsaying that the price tag alone threw them for
an early access game. I'd price it in it's current state at 5$ to F2P. Things i liked
about the game were: I really liked the building system. its not your cut and dry
square and triangle foundations like ark and rust. Also the upgrade menu was kind of nice.
Dragon was ehh... It's no different that having an arggy in ark. Best of luck to you guys
ill come back in prob 6 months to see how far its come.
