Maoti is raised by his mentor and trained to become a herbalist in the northern wetlands. The northerners adhere to an all-encompassing Order, which strictly controls everybody's fate. But not everyone is happy to follow the rules and the long-lasting age of peace is coming to its end.
Corvus is a magus living in the harsh desert. His people are at war with another clan that also believes to be chosen by Pyros the fire god. Corvus finds a way to invade the distant land of the northerners, where his clan could gather resources to fuel the war effort.
As the two fundamentally opposed cultures meet, great conflict emerges. But the gods have their own agenda, which happens to involve both Maoti and Corvus, as well as a girl from the earthy kingdom and a girl from the land of air. Together, they are destined to change the world.

Delightful story-based game with easy puzzles but a decent length.
Before playing this game, I'd highly recommend playing the Golden Sceptre first. It has essentially no relevance to the plot but it gives a good feel as to what the game is like. Plus it's free.
Gnomish Plot gives a feel for the world, as does Four Fates (which I prefer)
I like the simple, straightforward puzzle gameplay. I find the world fun and interesting. The dialogue isn't outstanding but perfectly serviceable.
Although I enjoyed playing this game, I will say the last chapter is rushed. It's not a deal breaker but the pacing just goes out the window at this point.
The romance element is poorly handled in that there's no character build-up for it. It just happens. Even in films with tacked-on romantic subplots there's the 'staring scene' or something. At first, I thought it was bad translation into English or something but no, there is a romance out of nowhere.
It doesn't even drive the plot (anymore than a friendship or alliance would)
I wish I could give more constructive criticism than this but seriously: Set up the romance.
That said, it's a good game to spend a few hours playing. I would play a sequel. I especially like the end scene where you can talk to all the characters.
Would play again.
This game was the best game I've played in years! The story was amazing (I played all of the free "demos" on kongregate before purchasing) and the love story was the cutest thing ever! It's nice to get some representation in wonderfully crafted games like this one. I hope there is a plan for another in the future (going off of information from the Droids Quest short game I can assume there is more to tell of this worlds story), and if so I will be ready to purchase it at a moments notice! I absolutely adored the love that was obviously put into this, and the thought and effort. I am looking forward to playing more games like this one!
I was really disappointed in the game. The prequels on kongregate are far better and thought through. I liked the prequels so much and they hinted at such an interesting universe that I decided to buy Eternal Link. It's a good thing it's cheap. After only 7 hours playing, the game is over (and that's playing for the first time). Having the prequels in mind, I was expecting a point and click adventure game, something Monkey Islandish. Instead, I feel like I got a much more limited universe than in the prequels, with only a couple of screens available, and a game where you basically are told where to go all of the time, and you must strictly obey the instructions and not think for yourself. It's basically just pressing arrow keys and Z mechanically over and over again for 7 hours. Puzzles are rare, and forget about the point and click part. It's basically just walking around one screen up, one screen down talking to NPCs. It's a shame, because the characters, universe and story do show a lot of potential (as the prequels showed us), but I feel this right here is more of an unfinished concept than a game itself. Would not play again, nor would I recommend it.
Like many others, I played the prequel games on Kongregate before picking this one up. I had a lot of fun playing through the puzzles and the story was pretty good. Most of the puzzles are a little on the easy side and there's no real penalty for failure, other than having to do something over again. Still, if you liked the free games, then you'll probably like this one as well.
Spoiler-free review (for would-be buyers): Good game, if you have played the Tales of Nebezem flash games you will definitely enjoy this one, the gameplay is very similar especially to Gnomish Plot if that helps you decide.
Spoiler-with review (for the developer): I have played and enjoyed all the flash ToN games, and with that experience, I say: this one's pretty good too. Some things I wasn't a fan of, like how the wind and earth duo doesn't do much for most of the plot, many of the sidequests weren't very clear about, well, being sidequests that could be done, and we never get any closure for the fire cultists (sure, they probably just got to worship Pyros after the bridge was opened, but it sounded like they were planning their own thing) or the Pyromilite invasion. Besides, the game felt very short, which would have made me think it wasn't worth the money I paid for it (even though I bought it on sale lol) but considering all the content from the flash games was completely free, I'd say you deserve more money.
P. S: Who the hecc is Nebezem?
I've been following the prequels on Kongregate for months now and I'm glad I finally bought this game. What a great little game. Graphics and animation are cute, controls are easy, and the puzzles are in the right spot between challenging and too frustrating.
I played the prequel games on Kongregate.com which made me excited for this. I suppose it's worth the small price if you want a few hours of a fun little puzzle game, but I honestly think the puzzles on the free prequel games were more challenging and fun than the ones in the actual game.
This was a fun game and I really liked the prelude games on Kongregate that are promotions for it. I'd definitely recommend playing them first if you're interested in this one. They will tell you more about this game than any review will.
This game is mostly fetch quests with some puzzles too. They are wrapped together in a nice story, that is perhaps tied up too quickly at the end. It's nice that it has a point of view, although it was perhaps too easy to convince the warring tribes to stop fighting after so many had been killed. That part could have been more detailed. I'd definitely play more from the developer. It'd be fun to play switching between all four characters.
Delightful old-school adventure game where people of different worlds must work together to save everyone. It got a little more violent than I expected in the later stages (thanks to the Pyreans) but overall it was a fun, satisfying game with an excellent story, good puzzles, and generally straightforward gameplay.
It was really neat how the dev used RPGMaker to make a game that is absolutely nothing like most RPGs. It was very easy to get attached to the world (maybe I should follow Megami too?). I really enjoyed the little side plots, and it took me 3 playthroughs to get all the uniduality tokens. Between this and the Kongregate shorts, it has a great story and I look forward to seeing if the dev will do anything more with it. The only complaint I have was the romance was kind of weird. Personal feelings aside, there wasn't a lot of development with either of the couples and it just kind of happened.
Side note: I'm glad you didn't kill Michiko AND Tiali. I would have been very sad had they both died.
I liked this game very much! It's very peaceful and not too hard, although what people call the teseract puzzle was very difficult compared to the rest.
I am in love with this world and cannot wait to see if we get another adventure in it.
I would've liked it even more if we could have played/witnessed the air and earth girl's way to the center of the continent rather than just the fire and water characters. I was looking forward so much to their travels after playing 'The golden scepter' and 'Mind trials'!
I absolutely adored this game. At some points the puzzles were very challenging but I was surprised by the story as I just believed it would mostly be a puzzle game. We definitely recommend!
This was a fun game overall. I came here after playing Tales of Nebezem: Golden Scepter on Kongregate and enjoying it, so kudos on that kind of advertisement. The mythos was an interesting dive, and most of the puzzles I had fun solving, so I found the game to be great overall for its price.
It's so gay! I love it.
In all seriousness though, this is a really great game, especially for an RPG Maker game and for $4. Some of the puzzles were easy, some were frustrating (tessaract) but there was always a way to solve it. There's also no real fighting, which makes it flow better, but can be frustrating cuz you accidently hold the forward key just slightly too long and you get killed by the enemy. Fortunately though when you die you don't lose like any progress and if you and the enemy kill each other at the same time the enemy is still dead! After a certain point, the story started to feel rushed, but that's understandable. It takes a LOONG time to make just a 30 minute RPG Maker game and this game is 6 hours long. I can't imagine how long it took the developer/team to make this game! So, yeah, I really liked this game and the short side story game on kongregate and would love to play through the other two elemental characters' stories as well.
I found out about this game through the minigame Tales of Nebezem: Golden Scepter on Kongregate (which is also fantastic!), and decided to keep an eye on it. Once it was released and I realised how cheap it was, I figured I couldn't not!
I love this game!! The writing is cute, and the story is interesting, and while you can see some of the beats coming, there are enough interesting twists and turns to keep you engaged with the story. The sprites are well-drawn, and each character feels visually unique, as well as personality-wise.
Each of the Nations of the game makes sense, and I love the character interactions & relationships at the end of the game.
I played this game through in one go, and I found it pleasant all the way through. If a continuation to the game is in the works, I would buy it, so I definitely recommend it if this is your type of game. It's quite story-based and a puzzle game more than an RPG, so that's something to be aware of. I would suggest checking out the free, shorter game Tales of Nebezem: Golden Scepter to get a feel of the style of the game, along with some back story to a part of the game.
Now for what I enjoy. The story is quite nice and flows really well. The puzzles, well, I never felt overwhelmed and that's honestly a good sign. They made sense and played out charmingly. The mapping is really nice, feeling more alive than many other RPG Maker games. As a great plus, the developer seems invested in trying to improve on the game.
The so-and-so. While it was nice that the puzzles were manageable, it would have been nice with a few more challenges - and possibly some more optional and/or branching quests. But, I guess that's just a general sense of wanting more, so I'm hoping for that sequel!
On the "bad", there is only one thing that made me stumble a bit in the story, and that was the love part, as it seemed very rushed - it sort of made me go "What, okay, so now this is a thing" rather than feeling like a natural progression. I guess it's because of the length of the game, but the pacing of things do seem a bit rushed in this regard and a few other places.
Overall, however, this is a charming game with some rather unique features and I am definitely hoping for more work from this developer. Hint hint, nudge nudge.
Excellent game with a great story. The puzzles were challanging but not impossible and I found myself staying up later than I should've multiple nights trying to find out what happens next. I can't wait for more!
An enjoyable little puzzle-adventure, in the graphical and movement style of an old JRPG, but with no grinding stats and no turn based combat. Only a very small amount of combat at all, which is more like a timing-based puzzle than an RPG stat-fest. The puzzles aren't especially challenging, but the story is nice enough to cover for that. Also good atmospheric music. There's a mini-game free on Kongregate (just google for "nebezem kongregate") that will tell you whether you'd like this one or not. The mini-game took me about half an hour, and the full game took me 3.6 hours to finish (though with only 2 of 10 optional side quests). A worthy game at its $4 price-point.
nice little game, easy to play and interesting story
the thing i miss however is that we only follow the story of 2 of the characters,
i'd like to see the whole story of the others as well
last; i hope another one is coming for the remaing ones, and yes i know about the one on kongregate since that is the reason i found this game.
