worth the money, people complain about not knowing what you're picking up since items don't have a description until after you scoop it but just enjoy the mystery and play the game, nice bosses lots of gameplay, upgrades, n characters, i say you'd enjoy it if you like roguelike games but all in all fun game with at least 50 hours you can put in, still not even half way done with the game with 46 hours maybe I suck but takes hours still
The game's okay, the sequel looks cool so far
I just wish they didn't replace the cool year 1 items with stupid badges
Amazing run-n-gun game! I love the graphics and can't believe that there is already a second one coming out! I can't wait until the next comes out for early release because if I have enough money, I will definetly buy it!

Good roguelike, cool aesthetic, fun guns, cool bosses.
Builds don't go super crazy because A LOT of the items revolve around eggs/keys/bombs or other boring aspects. Most broken builds for me revolved around finding a good gun and just upgrading it over and over with the badges that you get from bosses/challenge rooms or other rooms
It's fun if you want braindead roguelike for 10-15 hours, visual is great, I would say even amazing, but everything else is mid, still enjoyed it tho and hope that second game will be better
Cool game
I'd give this game a 8/10. Its full of so many different weapons and perks with the runs feeling totally different every time. I have to keep a guide open to read what each perk does lol.
It loses 2 points for feeling slightly repetitive at times but i commend the dev's for adding many different components into the game to help alleviate that feeling.

Really enjoying this, I got it on sale with all DLC, I've mostly played the DLC which is quick and lets you become OP in fun ways pretty quickly, I've played a lot of Rougelites and its nice that you can change the difficulty, to set your own challenge, other rougelites can get pretty boring grinding to complete.

No longer getting updated but it's still a good roguelite, on the easier side compared to many. Decent variety, good setup for the required repeated gameplay. Biggest downside is that like some other roguelites, later progression is dependent on RNG rather than skill. Still, especially on sale, it's a good value for the time investment.

This is a bubblegum pop of a video game. A lot of flash, not very good fundamentals, but not substantial.
I love this game. Sometimes I'm overpowered, and other times I need divine interventio- aaaaaaaaaand I'm dead.
Love playing it with a universal controller shaped like a SNES controller from 8bitdo. It just seems fitting

Good game but FIX THE PLATFORM BUG. My VERY first game and I can't drop through the damn level to progress. That bug on a 4 year old game is crazy.

Kinda Easy but rlly fun
Neon Abyss is a relatively good pick if you're new to rogue-like combat games or if you are experienced, but want to mix things up a bit more. This game has a very strong 80's-90's pop/culture theming, including references to similar rogue games such as Dead cells, Slay The Spire, The Binding Of Isaac, and a selection of other hits.
PERSONAL REVIEW:
This game was in fact the first game I was reccomended by Steam, and even though I've only now been using Steam for just over nine months on this account, Neon Abyss will forever be held in my heart as one of the first video games outside of Minecraft, roblox games, and Crazy Games content that I in some way resonate with.

This game is a fun rougelite with a ton of replayability with the bosses and skill tree. I love the weopons and different item synergies. 10/10 would reccomend.

Don't be fooled by the low hours, I've played this for many hours on my switch.
Do not pay full price for this game. DO NOT pay full price for this game. Wait for a steep sale. This is a fun enough game when it's really cheap but it has too many flaws to recommend under any other circumstance. The levels are boring to look at. The enemies are generic little goobers that aren't interesting to fight. You can't see what upgrades are going to do until you choose them, which is a cardinal sin for a roguelike; you literally have to memorize what items and guns do to have a chance of building somewhat optimally. Many upgrades are for your melee weapon which you will never ever use unless you're crazy, if you're in melee range you're taking damage. Many upgrades that aren't melee focused still completely suck. Many guns suck. There's so much crap on the screen it becomes impossible to keep track of it all, ensuring you will get hit. The lack of a dodge roll or dash is painfully felt. Weapon upgrades you pick up will change how your character looks, typically making them look stupid. The game is grindy as heck, meta progression is slow and there really isn't that much to be gained from it. Finally, it's a bit glitchy on steamdeck.
All that said, if you can score this game for six bucks or less it's a fun enough casual game with a decently cool aesthetic and some cool bosses and guns. This game shouldn't be your priority, but it'll fill the void if you get tired of all the other colorful twin stick roguelikes. I recommend playing it on easy to make up for the frustration.
Was enjoying myself until I ran into a bug which prevents dropping down through platforms, making softlocks extremely common. From a quick internet search I found multiple forum posts reporting this bug going back several years, which evidently hasn't led to any fixes. It's unfortunate, as I enjoyed the little I played before the bug kicked in, but given the lack of action for such a gamebreaking bug I would recommend you not purchase the game.
I've played a ton of this game on my Switch (currently 40+ hours). It's a really fun roguelite shooter, and the gameplay surprisingly hasn't become boring for me yet. I think that the massive number of items that you can collect during a run makes you feel like you're getting new items every run, when you actually just forgot the items were in the game. I just wish they updated the game more often.
