Neon Abyss. This is one of the best 2d pixel platform er shooter that's about completing dungeons and defeating bosses. Overall 5/5 star game. Incredibly fun and fast paced with tons of replay value and tons of stuff to unlock. Highly recommend if you like action pack rogue-like games!. Highly recommended. Classic in it's own right.

I've played a lot of roguelikes, I played for 50 minutes and the game didn't seem that great. Sure its a "bullet hell" but boss bullet patterns are random and fast, and since your character moves so clunky its not like you can dodge. Maybe theres a character later on that offers a parry or something but the game isn't promising enough to warrant continuing.

You might be saying: "WOAH THATS TOO HARSH!" but the weak gameplay at first glance is only part of the reason. You see, there are GAME BREAKING BUGS STILL IN GAME FOR OVER 3 YEARS. the devs are clearly lazy money hogs who don't bother to fix their game, instead cranking out DLC after DLC. I experienced both a black screen, and a game-ending bug in under 50 minutes. The game-ending bug in question was losing the ability to go down platforms, which is necessary to progress in the game. These bugs have existed since the game's release from what i've read online, and I don't want you to waste your time playing a game that lacks the bear minimum amount of polish. I'll change this review if I find out there are solutions or if the game is great beyond these setbacks, but for now hold your money.

It is a pretty decent rogue like, but it feels very slow rather quickly and I tend to get bored in stage 4 and rarely feel motivated to go much further than that.

I bought this game on sale less than an hour ago. It is an amazing game, If you liked when The Binding Of Issac, there isnt a ballhair of a doubt that you will love this game. It only punishes you if you are bad, and if you dont know every item in the game instantly. This game is amazing ! awesome soundtrack as well.! DODGE !

The ways you can be killed on this game is unfair and ruins the experience for me. Arcade machines blow up on you when you buy them and you die, you activate your invincibility item to open a spiked chest and you die, you accidentally shoot a crystal door while breaking boxes... you guessed it, it turns spiked and there's no way to get through without dying. If a game has to rely on cheap tactics to make a game more difficult, that is not a game I'm going to be interested in. So unfortunately, I can not recommend this one.

Jogo muito bom pra quem curte plataforma com roguelike, toda run é diferente principalmente dependendo do personagem que você escolhe, pode acabar sendo bem variada, ou seja, dependendo dos itens e arma que você pega pode se tornar bem facil ou bem desafiador, no final eu acho que tambe vai da sua sorte de acordo com as coisas que vão aparecendo em cada run.

No mais recomendo bastante, rende horas e horas de gameplay por um preço de um café hoje em dia.

Plays and runs great on the Steam deck which is the only reason i got this game, would strongly recommend if you like the rouge like style of games. Not sure why it says only 5 hours maybe from offline mode idk

Mechanics and graphics are great. Its challenging and fun... Bosses are great... Dynamics how you move through episodes are a little bit too weird for me tho. And I personally dont like the beings above your head in the game. Still I reccomend that game to try it out!

Personally, I love it. I'm not sure what new NA2 is going to bring to the table, but if you see this game on a discount (and you will), and you enjoy controller-based platformers with guns, pick this little gem up.

Oh, and the OST is banger too.

this is a frustrating game but i do recommend it for people who like a challenge and who are retro fans personally I don't love and i don't hate the i'm in between loving and hating the game but all and all is a good game BUY IT if you want i do think it is a bit over priced i got on sale so i'm not complaining but i think this game is more of a four dollar game VS 22 dollar hope this helps.

My review probably rehashes things everyone else has already said: the game itself is pretty good overall but I tapped out at 3 hours and 1 win because during that time I rarely felt more powerful by level 4 than level 1, with scaling meaning that the only changes I saw in real gameplay terms were bullet increases for crowd control.

The changes between weapons are relatively unimpressive and - with other options all over - the general feeling of low lethality, lack of visible forward momentum in power, and needless lack of item descriptions (cardinal sin in a game with so many unexplained options btw) just means I'm not coming back after 3 hours.

I can't think of any reason I'd rather play this than competitors, and it's a shame because the visual style and map management are genuinely really well developed, but the lack of flashy, fun synergy is really hard to get past in this genre.

Iv'e loved this title since it dropped. anyone complaining must not understand the point of the game is to actually have fun playing a game versus learning a broken system that actively hates the player.

I can't recommend Neon Abyss unless it's on sale. It's very generic and lackluster, and your money would be better spent on a more cohesive and unique roguelike.

Super solid potential to have a decent interconnecting theme... So why didn't they do it? Enemy designs make no sense given what you *think* the theme of the game would be. Neither does the pet system. Or the weapons. Or the lackluster gameplay, room layouts, and builds. hope 2 is better

While Neon Abyss doesn't do anything wrong, it really doesn't do anything right either. The controls/level design/gameplay is all acceptable but doesn't really go above or beyond to make a lasting impression. The game lands at an exact 5/10, it's not bad but there really isn't anything it does to keep me engaged.

You'd be better off playing any of the other highly rated rougelikes on steam.

I just bought neon abyss it's very fun but i didn't know that there was a neon abyss 2 coming T^T

I would say it is a simple game, but it is a thought out one. The characters and the player, they just mesh together and create a nice and understandable story. For anyone thinking of getting the game, i would recommend it.
