In Creatura, design and take care of enclosed ecosystems full of animals and plants grown from scratch, using scientifically accurate natural/artificial selection and genetic engineering. Make an epic journey over epochs of evolution, from single cell organisms sharing water with algae, to complex animals living in lush gardens. Manage and recreate fully customizable vivariums, while carefully balancing biomes characteristics to sustain perfect ecosystems. Fulfil unique almanac with species yet to be discovered, and edit your own fauna & flora with authentic DNA editor, learning how modern tools and techniques like CRISPR and GMO work in detail.Creatura has open-ended "sandbox-like" gameplay mode, with beautiful bonsai experience of any vivarium you can think of, and challenging educational scenarios, including extensive tutorial. Sell plant cuttings to buy decorations and consumables, research fauna & flora to unlock advanced DNA editing methods, and with enough patience and luck, grow rare and unique specimens for trading. Or just watch the grass growing, with up-to-date biology research based on Charles Darwin and Gregor Mendel legacy, it's all science after all.
- Use artificial selection to grow any possible plant out of billions of combinations, or utilize natural selection to breed unique animals, dependent on adapting to their environments.
- Learn how to edit DNA, understand concepts like genomes, codons & gene sequencing, and apply your own genetic engineering using the GCAT system and authentic DNA editor.
- Control the time to watch hundreds of plants and animals evolve in just seconds by utilizing up to 1000x time-lapse, in a highly optimized and smooth gaming experience.
- Manage a fully simulated virtual aquarium/terrarium. Grow plants to generate oxygen, use consumables and decorations to control pH, maintain humidity with temperature and water.
- Customize the tank stand, rims and lid, colors, shape the ground, water level, and decorate it with a wide range of unlockable rare parts and decorations.
- Grow and breed specimens until mutating the rare and unique variations to make your vivarium even more special, or to sell/trade them for great profit.
- Discover millions of possible plants and animals, name them, and be the first to put them in global almanac, as a part of your evolutionary research.
- Create the most visually stunning virtual bonsai aquariums/terrariums, in a relaxing and educational gaming environment without any fail conditions.
- Use or make your own texture packs (with Steam Workshop support) for even more unique experience.

I would love to give a good review but I can't get the past the mutagen tutorial. I followed directions, took the cutting, grew the cutting, poured on the stuff, then the plant vanished. It keeps telling me to pour the mutagen on a seed, but there is no seed. There is a stick/stem but it is not doing anything, just keeps telling me to put it on the seed instead. An earlier tutorial got stuck on "wait" for a few minutes and I had to quit and go back in. If I can figure out the game without the tutorials I may change my review, but right now my experience is pure frustration.

good for afk farming to grow new spicese
Unfortunately pretty unsatisfying game. Doesn't seem like the developer really took it seriously and rushed through it. Controls are rough, visuals are dull, game play is tedious....I'm even bored trying to write a thorough review.
Good idea, but just generally a pretty tedious game.
I play mainly on highest speed because I have ADHD and I can't sit still with nothing to do for longer than a few minutes (which is in part why I play waaayy too much video games) but that results in me having to stay 100% focused (which I obviously also have issues with) in case a cutting pops up somewhere and I have 0.82 seconds to take a cutting before it disappears.
I guess this game is more fun if you're better at pacing yourself and relaxing, but for me it's just not very fun or intuitive.
I won't refund though, got this game for less than 1,50€ so the price is fair I guess.
I wish the game didn't have multiple set lifeforms you evolve into but more of a "freeform" style of gradual evolution over time but that's probably asking too much, very few games seem able to actually pull something like that off successfully.
The game doesn't look like it's being worked on anymore either so I assume it'll stay the way it is.
Get it on sale if you really want to check it out I guess.
I was at first unsure what to rate this game, but given how quickly and fiercely it overheated my nice gaming PC, it's now a solid no, cannot recommend.
Pros: Fascinating concept. Truly neat seeing everything evolve. Would have thoroughly enjoyed digging into it more, except for the cons getting in the way.
Cons: Very clunky controls. Tutorial had terrible, terrible dialog with relentlessly unfunny jokes rather than any focus on being a tutorial. Frustrating trying to find a balance between growing stuff fast enough to find good mutations and slow enough to catch them, given how rare yet momentarily brief they are.
Most importantly, while trying to decide if the pros outweighed the cons, it quickly overheated my gaming rig. First game I've come across to do so.
Got this with one of the Aquarist bundles going around, ended up refunding because my PC is slow and rendering in that many objects makes it go REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE because it's closer to "potato" than "high end". I *really* wanted to keep playing, though, this level of genetics is something I've *really* been looking for! Try the demo to make sure you have the horsepower, and best hopes to the devs!
this game is amazing. i got it bundled with another game that i barely play, but this one, it's hard to stop messing with! since it's an older game, there are some bugs, but i've personally had a pretty easy time getting around them. the learning curve is huge, but as long as you pay careful attention to the tutorials (refreshing yourself with them helps) you'll learn most of the basics you need to know to play. i think this game would be awesome for students, i absolutely sucked at biology but this makes genetics so much more hands-on and interesting. i can only imagine it going up from here with the development, i'd love to see more aquatic critters added (though i haven't gotten to experience the majority of them yet!), and even more in-depth would be awesome. in real-life aquarium keeping, you have common diseases among species, ones that transfer between species, sicknesses affected by temperatures, nitrate/oxygen levels in your tank, etc. might over-complicate things, but all of these would be amazing avenues to explore, since the developer is currently working on creatura 2.0.
if you're willing to get past the learning curve and the bugs that are out there, i highly recommend this game. in general i highly recommend it because even if it doesn't work, 2.0 will be coming out eventually and buying access to this version gives you access to 2.0. if the dev reads this, though i know you're probably not too concerned with old bugs or anything, i and my boyfriend both encountered situations where you have to time things specifically in the tutorials. if you accidentally do what the tutorial is asking you to do before it prompts you to do it, things lock up and won't progress and you won't be able to complete the scenario. it's not really obvious that this is what's happening when you're first starting out, and you often have to repeat the entire scenario to fix things, which might frustrate a new person. either way, amazing game. it feels like spore meets the chao garden from sonic adventure, like what wobbledogs was going for but WAY better, but that doesn't quite do it justice because it's one of the most unique concepts for a game i've had the pleasure of playing. so glad i got bored and decided to download it to my computer and try it out.
