tried catching maw (whale shark looking thing), crashed out and went to egypt, got kidnapped by terrorists, escaped, then caught everything in the early area, 10/10 would reccomend
It's basic, but it's a damn good game. Plenty of features, many fish, and it's super chill.
Saw this game online when watching youtube, downloaded it knowing full well it was going to be frustrating. Not at all a relaxing game but it is 100% one of my favorites
Good fishing game, with quite some strategy and skill needed.
But, it didn't took care of my fishing itch.
Intergalactic Fishing is still at the top.
What can I say, I love fishing.
It's a fun game that's relaxing but has a ton of depth to it once you catch the first 25 fish and venture into the sea.
I totally recommend this game because it is easy to play, runs smooth, thought out, and just fun!, I love going out in a boat and catching fish!, and every time i go out i find new fish to discover!, after a long day it's the perfect thing to help get your spirit back up!
this is a very intresting fishing game, not like the other ones you would see on this platform, its mechanics are easy to learn and the game has a lot of content, its overall great.
9.6/10
this is not a calm fishing game, if you want something calm go somewhere else. everything is out to ruin your catch.
its still a really good game its just not relaxing at all
Very chill (as long as you don't try too hard when certain fish give you trouble), pleasant looping music, a cat obviously, quite a big variety of fish to catch, a nice upgrade system, overall a catchy yet simple game, easy time sinker, worth it
P.S -> Alt+Enter for full screen
For the price point this game is great. Hours of enjoyment however if your trying to 100% the game the achievements can get bugged out quite easily.
its kind of challenging, nothing too negative im sure some people would enjoy this more than me, i wish it was a more relaxing than frustrating.
Good calming game, but there are some bugs with steam achievements unlocking for fish i've never seen. Also would like more to the game, like more rods, boats, fish, also fullscreen.
its good but i cant go big screen and thats very annoying for me. good game tho
If you love going fishing in games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and Harvest Moon, this game is similar but it just has the fishing part and your a cute cat. Very simple but super addictive and it's just a fun quick game to play for a bit each day. <3
Amazing value. Bought the game on sale expecting an afternoon of simple fun content that has turned into over a week of puzzle-esk adventures and i have only caught 26% of the fish the game offers.
Absolutely recommend to anyone who wants a casual pick up and go game that requires little explanation before getting into the action.
i love fishing games and cats so i wanted so badly to like this game but immediately was put off by the over simplified yet difficult mechanics, big fish often swoop in fast and steal your bait or eat you fish before you can reel it in and a lot of the time you accidentally click to sell and end up casting the fish back turning it into bait you cannot sell. and when you cast the big bait to try catch a bigger fish, you have to wait for it to sink past allllll the little fish which will always eat it before it gets too far. THEN that's when the big fish comes and eats your catch. this is a game more suited for cool math games, so if it's on discount try it you might like it.
I bought this game on sale thinking it would make for a cute little game to stream for an hour or two. I didn't expect much from it since I basically went in only seeing the price tag. Fifteen hours later I can now say that this game has an absurd mechanical depth and amount of content I was not expecting from something that I got for 3 dollars.
Over 100 fish to catch, many with detailed catch requirements. Some fish require you to maneuver your hook through labyrinth-like caves. Some fish require you to kite other fish to them in order for them to bite the hook. Some fish require you to maneuver your hook through labyrinth-like caves WHILE being chased by another fish so you can hook a specific type of bait that you can use to catch the fish that's chasing you. Oh my GOD some of these fish have absurd catch requirements! Got a real good shock when I first got my bait stolen by the dragon lol. There are even secret fish and fish that can only spawn on certain days.
I cannot recommend this game enough for the price, It's enjoyable, has a deceptively high skill ceiling in realism mode, and can easily offer more than a dozen hours of playtime if you commit yourself to catching as many fish as you can.
My biggest piece of advice to anyone new: start doing as many quests as you can as soon as you get them. I made the mistake of ignoring them until level 40 or so and now I'm stuck having to grind quests for fish that are VERY difficult to catch lmao.
There's also a dedicated wiki for the game, though I do not recommend you look through it until you at least get the opportunity to get jumpscared a few times by some of the bigger fish in the game (I had some surprises ruined for me after wiki diving and I'm kinda sad about it lol). Honestly, using the wiki IS practically necessary in order to figure out how to catch some of the fish. Like I said before, some of these fish have extremely specific things that you have to do to catch them.
All in all, this game was an EXTREMELY pleasant surprise, considering I got it for so cheap. If you like fishing, hooking what might as well be elder gods, and cats, I HIGHLY recommend this game!
You definitely are a cat and you sure as heck do go fishing.
A surprising amount of depth and progression for such a simple concept. It's not groundbreaking or reinventing the wheel or anything, but if you want a nice game to keep you busy for a while that will make you think "Huh, that's kinda neat/cool/interesting" every now and then it hits the mark. Definitely got a few dollars worth of enjoyment out of it already and plan to put in more, would be great for folks who work remote and are looking for an easy 2nd monitor game they can jump in and out of.
Game is S+ tier levels of enjoyment
I've encountered a few bugs but they end up just being funny when they happen and that makes up for it. It's usually just the fish AI being a little wacky in a clearly unintentional way. You'll have to play to understand what I mean...
While cute at first, this game quickly gets frustrating. The bait size system is frustrating, the huge-size fish bugging out and not taking the specific type of bait they need is frustrating, the low resolution is frustrating. The quests don't scale with experience points either; you can get saddled early on with a quest that's difficult to complete even geared all the way up. Feels a flash game mimic of just the fishing portion of Dave the Diver. Not worth it even on sale.
Surprisingly frustrating. Surprisingly shallow.
Just not worth playing, especially when it considers itself a "casual" and chill game. You'll find yourself immediately annoyed and frustrated at the mechanics and constantly recasting just to have other fish you can't even catch either take your bait (removing the chance for other fish you wanted to catch getting hooked) or attacking the fish you're actually trying to get.
And then you get to realize there are limited spawns for fish, so once your zone of reachable fish have been ruined, you get to just keep casting and casting and casting...
I got hard stuck at the start of the game by what I can only assume is a bug. I caught all the fish within my reach and didn't earn enough experience to hit level 1. I kept trying and failing to do anything and I'm still unsure if there was some gameplay element I was missing.
I was shocked there's no settings menu or ability to reset the save game. After restarting I was quite disappointed to see all the fish I caught were still gone. It was an incredibly frustrating experience where I had seemingly no ability to actually get to play the game.
I love this game because it’s very simple and teaches you how to play fairly well. It is also very changed yet rewarding when you catch a good fish. Very worth it for the price tag. Would recommend
Nice game, I thought it was an easy game at first but it has proven me wrong. Fun game, very nice for the price.
this is a relaxing, yet challenging and fun game about fishing. fish.
I love fishing and cats. I love fishing games and cat games. This game is the best of both worlds - cats and fishing. It's clearly a new game that is still in development, but I don't mind. I enjoy playing new games and giving my feedback. That being said, here it goes:
1.) There is currently no main menu once you choose a game mode for the first time. After that, the game loads directly to the shore where you fish with your cat. There is no way to access game settings or switch game modes. (at least not from the interface. If there is a hotkey or shortcut, this is not made clear)
2.) Sometimes a caught fish falls off the hook, behind you, and there is no way to put it back on the line. In my opinion, it would be very helpful to have a place to store the fish and to be able to put them back on your hook at a later time.
Suggestion: Shore - there could be a "stringer" with the following upgrades ---> mesh basket ---> holding pen ---> live well (This wold be for live bait fish and each upgrade would allow more storage and storage for bigger bait fish.)
Suggestion: Boat - could have its own fish box that can also be upgraded
3.) When you buy special hook attachments, you can only buy one to put immediately on your rod. If you are trying to catch a fish that requires a bigger hook, you have to go back to the store and buy one each time.
Suggestion - allow us to buy a tackle box that can be upgraded. We would be able to hold our different lures/ hook upgrades in our tackle box to use at will - each upgrade could increase item slots and stack quantities.
Overall, this game has great promise and I look forward to seeing what updates bring and what new content is added. I recommend this game to others who enjoy cute fishing games.
It's a super fun little game, but there's occasional bugs where you can't catch fish sometimes, like when using live bait, and sometimes when you launch the game it'll give you achievements for fish you haven't caught, but all in all I would definitely recommend
A fun game if you are someone who likes cozy games that you can spend hours just relaxing with.
Only touched the surface but been enjoying it a bunch so far. I recommend it I usually say 1$ a hour to get your moneys worth, definitely will get more then 7 hours played going for everything. I recommend it for sure
It's almost identical to the original Fishing Girl flash game, but with a bunch of arbitrary changes that make it way less enjoyable to play
I remember that when I was a kid I really wanted to play this game. Can't believe it's hitting 10 years old today, its so nostalgic to play cat goes fishing and I'm happy I finally bought it after such a long time. I definitely recommend it for nostalgia and to just chill out after a long day
i really like this games basis and i think it has potential, however i wish that when i catch a giant fish that the little fish cannot eat my bait. this makes it harder for me to progress. i think it would already be hard enough if the only ones that can eat large fish were other large fish and then the giant ones but the medium and small ones cannot. or maybe you could make like an easy mode for this option? idk when im trying to relax ad play this cute game i start to get frustrated at the little guys eating my expensive large fishies.
Fuck yea when that little cat goes *meow* and then casts his fishing rod I get so much dopamine. I don't even care about progressing in the game, if I could rate it more than perfect I would this is the best game. It is a game, and it is the best. 10/10
"Do I recommend this game?", asks Steam.
"Fuck yes, I would die for that cat.", says I.
Wow this game is annoying as hell and far from relaxing. Going for a fish thats farther out is a pain in ass since bigger fish from off screen will see your bait and eat that shit up, forcing you to recast since you need bigger bait to catch them and because the fish closer to you take forever to re-spawn you're stuck and cant do anything. On top of that, any catch you do make can still be eaten up by one of the bigger fish, so it's just an endless loop of losing bait and smaller fish to big fish, there are consumables you can get to make the big fish run away but you cant even get fish to make money in the first place because of them. Was lookin forward to this one but even idle fishing has better mechanics than this and that game is free.
This game is very addicting and fun with a lot of things to do and look for
Soothing in every single way. Do wish it could true full screen, but other than that extremely minor inconvenience I friggen love it.
its amazing and its so easy ive played realisim mode when i started!
if you love fishing this game is for you. if not recommend looking for a old man who can beat you upside the head with a broken bottle. maybe get your wife to cheat on you with a turtle. the game is not horrible it just real makes you feel all numb inside till your seven morphine shots down. playing league of legends at least gives your soul away. this is like signing up for a game where it does nothing but promise you happiness and then end you a video of some dude looking for some kid outside the preschool.
Very old but very cute game. The mechanics are simple but fun to interact with. Certain fishies can be real bitches sometimes though so I’m thankful for the repellent lures. I love the kitty. Sometimes it’s kind of difficult to figure out how to catch certain fish but that’s part of the fun! With the semi-recent performance patch (July 2024) the game has seen major improvements. I love playing this when I’m just chilling with someone and we can catch the fishies while we chat.
annoying ass game, But its a cool challenge if you like fishing
great game all around but bait gard gets way to expensive
It's exactly what it says on the box; expect to play as a cat, and go fishing. The progress in the game is fun and the catching is addictive. Even my wife watched me play while on the couch with me. I admit we screamed together during particularly challenging or close catches. Fun game.
reel-ly fun to pass the time get it? in all seriousness the game is amazing to pass the time and if you want to you can mod the game (not reccomended)
erased my happiness
ruined my life
a complete scam
not even worth it when you get it free
a tutorial to live a bad life
made me just want to die
i fish as cat, thats all i need in life. I caught a dragon fish, it took me 3 hours. Good game
The game is great, albeit annoying at times. It's very charming. Overall, I would recommend this game.
I Caught A Fish With A Value Of 1 mill It took very long to catch and earn this amount of money then i sold all of the fish in my boat (including the 1 mill one) and my money went to the right amount then i looked away for one sec and all of it went i did not gain any items or lose any items i just lost the money
I really wanted to like this game, as I love fishing games and the art style is simple, but cute.
That being said, this is ABSOLUTELY not a "calming, chill and peaceful" game, not by any means. Go play Chillquarium/Stardew Valley for that kind of thing.
I've only played for 30 minutes and already saw this game's glaring flaws.
- Barely teaches you how to play, and the way you Are intended to play it is abhorrent, and inherently flawed, such as...
- You need small fish to catch bigger fish to gain more XP to level up. but here's the thing, not only can fish of the same size as the one you're currently using as bait consume your bait (therefore wasting it), but fish SMALLER THAN THE BAIT YOU'RE USING can do so as well. In what world is that fair? Oh, I almost forgot, slightly bigger fish that you can't catch with the smallest bait will be QUICKLY ATTRACTED TO YOUR LEVEL 1 BAIT, CONSUME IT IMMEDIATELY, AND MAKING YOU HAVE TO REEL IT IN AND TRY AGAIN.
The game will do the favour of telling you "NEED BIGGER BAIIT" as if you're actually TRYING to get those bigger fish with your level 1 bait. It's not as if THE GAME PUT THOSE QUICK BIGGER FISH IN YOUR WAY AT EVERY CORNER.
- speaking of which, you ALSO Can't use your often hard-earned bait because the fun peaceful calming game makes it so the d4mned fish will EAT YOUR CATCH AS YOU'RE REELING IT, AND NIBBLED FISH DON'T WIELD ANY XP. YAYYYY!
and there's often MANY fish in the path of you reeling in your catch. My, how incredibly fun!
- Speaking of Fish, as another reviewer said, they can camp directly below your casting grounds, perfectly ready to eat your catch just as it's very close to you.
Besides all of this, the game has no menu, no option for Full screen, (you have to press alt + enter, but guess what? game doesn't tell you that, had to look it up.) And personally, I think the music is really annoying in it's constant loop.
This game frankly feels like it hasn't been playtested, I've seen some people say it has "Flash game polish" but no, I've seen many many Flash games more polished than this.
Plus with all the bug reports I've been seeing, save files being wiped, expensive fish (which I have no doubt must have been actual hell to catch. because I know the ones at the very beginning of the game already are.) boucing off of the boat... Jesus, where is the polish? The save file thing is particularly alarming. I've also encountered bugs of my own in my mere 30 minutes of gameplay.
What's worse is that I even looked at the modding community, but it's all "new fish pack" mods, NO ONE has fixed all the glaring issues this game has as of yet.
All of this to say, I'm massively disappointed. Really wanted to love this, looks right up my alley. But this game design is abysmal, and again, NEEDS POLISH.
I wish to see this game fixed n the future, maybe then I'll be buying it again. (Whew am I glad I'm still eligible for refund) but as of now...
Don't buy this, it's stressful and poorly thought-out, not polished and with save ending bugs to boot.
Barely functions, fish in air, I love it. 10/10
Very Calm Relaxing and a good progression system
