A super chill game that is oddly addicting. Albeit, I haven't tried playing in realism mode yet but I'm having a damned good time playing casually. If you enjoy fishing games and simple, fun but challenging at times game play then this is highly recommended. My only gripe is that I can't turn the music off/down.
This game's graphics look very primitive and overall gameplay isn't the best, however i have some sort of a nostalgic feeling and respect to this game. Reminds me of good ol' times, around 2015-2016 when me and my bois were playing that on our phones. I'm glad to experience this game once again after 8 years. :)
very good. has many hours of gameplay.
Peaceful and cozy game, would recomend to play it if you want to play something but don't have time to engage into it.
The only problem in this game for those who like to do achievements is that you get some of them from time to time for doing nothing (literally i just opened the game and got 3 achievs for catching a fish i didn't caught yet, and got it 3 times (so 9 achievs))
Great casual experience
Increadibly fun and adictive gameplay, literally played this game for almost 12hrs in a row on first play and had a blast. Really simple and straight forward with a few curveballs and challenges to keep things interesting and entertaining as you play
The only reason i haven't 100% this before leaving a review like i usually do is because the game has somehow softlocked and i can't go to the max depth with the master rod and treats it like the rod before it, so i can't catch some of the fish i need to progress, but i'll give it a pass since i'm such a minority experience that literally nobody else online has had the same issue as far as i'm aware
9/10, genuinely one of the most pleasant and fun casual games i've played in a while, great game to play whilst you watch or listen to something also

caught swordfish. im happy. very good. you should get this. the only bad thing is the grumpers. remove them.
One of my favourite games to play definitley love to see more updates and i recommend this for other players
When I saw videos about this game on YouTube, it seemed fun so I wasted 7 dollars on it and got the game. Turned out to be extremely boring and a waste of money. Dont buy this game
this game is very fun but hard in the begining cause of the small fish and medium but fully recommend it but just dont give up!
this app is fun,addictive,and amazing
A fun, relaxing (mostly) Fishing game. Just wished it updated more frequently
I love this game for its relaxing nature but I also love the fact that there is a challenge as well. The game is so creatively well made that you feel accomplished for everything you do. Would recommend.
ive played almost 3 hours now and every good fish i catch like whale or sword fish just falls through my boat
best fishing game ever (thats not saying much) good game
so the game is fun like it. But there are some bugs:i tried getting the yin and yang but yin didn't spawn. In rest the game is cool. I recommend it.
**How *The Cat Goes Fishing* Brought Me and My Wife Together**
It all started with a cat, a fishing rod, and a surprisingly addictive little game called *The Cat Goes Fishing*. You wouldn’t expect a simple, charming indie game about a cat fishing in a peaceful pond to be the catalyst for meeting the love of your life, but that’s exactly what happened in my case. Sometimes, the smallest things—like a shared moment over an unexpectedly fun game—can spark something far more profound than you could ever imagine. This is the story of how *The Cat Goes Fishing* brought me and my wife together, and how something so seemingly trivial became the beginning of a beautiful chapter in my life.
### The First Hook: *A Simple Game*
I had just moved to a new city, trying to adjust to my new job and life when I found myself searching for a way to unwind after a long day. My social circle was still small, and I wasn’t quite ready to dive into a busy nightlife or long hangouts with strangers. I needed something simple, something that wouldn’t take too much mental energy, but still offered enough of a distraction to take my mind off the stress of transitioning.
That’s when I came across *The Cat Goes Fishing* on a gaming forum. It was nothing fancy—just a little pixelated cat with a fishing rod. The concept was simple: catch fish, upgrade your equipment, and explore the quirky world around you. But it was fun. No high stakes. No time pressure. Just peaceful, zen-like fishing with a cute, pixelated cat. It was perfect for winding down, and I quickly found myself hooked.
Every evening after work, I’d boot up the game, watch my cat reel in fish, and unlock new upgrades. It was relaxing, almost meditative. I didn’t expect to spend hours on it, but there I was, watching my in-game cat pull up everything from tiny fish to massive, legendary creatures. I enjoyed it more than I had expected, but I didn’t think much of it beyond that.
### The Unexpected Connection: *A Shared Interest*
One night, I decided to join a forum to share some of my progress in *The Cat Goes Fishing*. I had caught a rare fish and was excited to show off my accomplishment. I made a post in a casual gaming subreddit, and to my surprise, I got a response almost immediately. The message came from a user named **"PixelQueen"**.
"Hey, nice catch! I’ve been playing too, but I’m still trying to figure out how to get the big fish. What’s your secret?" the message read.
Her username alone intrigued me. A queen of pixels? That was clever. I smiled as I typed my response: "I think it’s all about upgrading the right bait. Got to level up your equipment to catch the big ones!"
We exchanged a few more messages, and it turned out we shared not just a love for *The Cat Goes Fishing*, but a lot of other interests as well. We both enjoyed simple, low-stakes games that allowed us to relax and escape the hustle of daily life. She told me that she loved playing games like *Stardew Valley* and *Animal Crossing*—games with peaceful, charming worlds where you could just be yourself without the pressure of fast-paced action.
Soon, our conversations expanded beyond the game. We started chatting about everything from our favorite childhood cartoons to the best pizza places in town. It didn’t take long before we realized that we lived in the same city. The thought hadn’t crossed my mind at first, but now that I knew, it felt almost serendipitous. It seemed strange to think that our connection, so simple at first, was leading to something bigger.
### The First Meeting: *A Fishing Date*
One day, I jokingly mentioned, "Maybe we should go fishing sometime," as we chatted in our messages. It was just a lighthearted comment, a reference to the game we both loved. But then she responded, *"I’d love that! What if we actually went to a lake and fished? I promise I won’t catch the biggest fish!"*
I laughed, but the idea stuck. After a few more messages, I decided to take the plunge (pun intended). I suggested, "How about this Saturday? I know a quiet lake nearby where we can rent fishing poles and relax for a few hours."
To my delight, she agreed. That Saturday, I met her at the lake, both of us a little nervous but excited. When I first saw her, I remember feeling a wave of warmth. She had a calm presence about her, and her smile instantly made me feel at ease. We rented fishing poles, and though neither of us expected to catch anything substantial, we spent the afternoon talking about everything and nothing. We both kept joking about how our *Cat Goes Fishing* skills didn’t quite translate to real-life fishing.
But even though we didn’t catch any fish that day, we caught something much more valuable: the beginning of a deep connection. There was something about the way we could share our passions—whether it was our love for simple games or just our mutual love of being in the moment—that felt so effortless. The pressure was gone, and I realized that I was having a genuinely wonderful time with someone I had just met.
### The Game That Bonded Us: *More Than Just Fishing*
As we spent more time together, our shared love for games like *The Cat Goes Fishing* became a central part of our relationship. We would often message each other late at night, swapping tips and tricks about how to catch the most legendary fish in the game, or discussing what we’d like to do next in the game’s world. It became a lighthearted ritual, something that kept us connected in those early days of our relationship. We were no longer just a couple of gamers on a forum; we were two people building something real, piece by piece.
A few months later, we went on another fishing trip—this time to the same lake. By now, we were comfortable with each other, and the day was filled with laughter, deep conversations, and, yes, a few fish caught along the way. I realized then that this was it. The way we had met, the game that had connected us—it was the perfect reflection of what our relationship was becoming. Simple, but meaningful. Relaxing, but full of joy.
### The Proposal: *A Game and a Promise*
A year later, we were sitting together on the couch after a long day, playing *The Cat Goes Fishing* once more. I had caught a giant fish, and she had just unlocked a new level. As we celebrated our progress in the game, I smiled and said, “You know, I think I’ve found my perfect catch. And no, it’s not the big fish.”
She looked at me, her eyes full of warmth and understanding. "What do you mean?"
I paused for a moment, feeling my heart race. "I mean you. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I want to keep catching moments like this with you forever."
And right then, in the glow of the computer screen, I asked her to marry me.
The rest of the proposal was a blur. But what mattered was that we were in that moment together. A moment where a silly little fishing game had become the backdrop to a much deeper, real-world connection. The game had brought us together, but it was our bond—built on laughter, shared passions, and those little moments—that had made us inseparable.
### The Future: *Fishing for Forever*
Now, as I sit here writing this, thinking about how a game about a cat and his fishing rod changed my life, I realize how much that little game symbolized for us. It was more than just a shared interest; it was the foundation of something bigger. *The Cat Goes Fishing* had introduced us, but it was our love, our patience, and our willingness to grow together that kept us afloat.
And so, as we look forward to our future, whether we’re casting lines in a peaceful lake or exploring new worlds together in a game, I know one thing for sure: the best catch I’ll ever make is the one I found when I least expected it. The one who shared my passion, my joy, and ultimately my heart.
its a great game and also very addicting
i love this game its so relaxing and feels so satisfying to catch huge stuff when u start it off like me. you can find out how to catch the huge stuff and other cool stuff u wanna get with the cat goes fishing wiki! 100% recommended
Best game to ever be created.
absolute cinema
Genius game, Amazing outstanding its one of a kind game its a wonderful feeling to Fish as a cat as its quite ironic and very unique. THIS game deserves award of a game of the year every year. love it I live for it its better then anything.
This game is so fun! It's classic and cute, but also violent, mostly on the violent side. There's literal monster/aliens in the bottom of the ocean, or is it a lake? Or a pond? Anyways this is very fun!
it is an original from my childhood i cant stop playing but the maw is too hard to catch its 3 1/2 stars
very good game bit laggy for laptops though
I was very on the fence on getting this game I liked it for a lil bit but it got boring very fast so if you would wanna get it maybe get it when its on sale so you don't spend as much money if you don't end up actually liking it
We fish whales as a cat. Good fishing as a cat game.
Cat Goes Fishing is a game I've sunk a decent chunk of time into. It's really adorable and you don't even realise the time you've spent on it. I personally really enjoy it.
Dev leaves for years on end, gives update, returns to the swamp

i like this game but i want to get a refund because i like to get some thing else and its for me and my brother so we can play togeter so yeah this game is good people should buy it
Very chill and relaxing game
Used to love the soundtrack back when watching the videos of the game back in 2015
I kept hearing it in more games after and learned it's one of these free songs for content creators
It became a bit tiring
Overall the game's alright
To me this is in the "hidden gem" category. Don't expect infinite replayability, but it is very fun while it lasts.
The basic idea is ofc very simple, but there are a lot of kinds of fish and many of them need some kind of special trick to be caught. It is very creative in this manner and it's also very hard to complete the journal without a guide.
The con is there is no "end of the game", you simply keep filling your journal and once you have it done, there is nothing else to do really. I also wouldn't recommend realism mode, it just makes the game more annoying and grindy rather than challenging in my opinion.
"Cat Goes Fishing", a relaxing indie game created by Cat5Games studio. The player takes on the role of a cat who has one simple task - fishing. At first glance, the game seems simple, but in fact it offers much more than you might expect. It is a pleasant production that combines elements of strategy, arcade and economics, engaging the player for long hours. You start out as a cat sitting on the bank of a river with a simple fishing rod and a limited arsenal of bait. The goal is simple: catch fish, sell them and use the money earned to improve your equipment. Over time, as you progress through the game, you discover new baits, better fishing rods and additional accessories that help you catch increasingly rare and valuable fish.
its a cute little game, but the classic mode is too boring and the realistic mode is well, realistic and also not. realistic mode basically just means "le fish le move" which would be fine, if when you catch bigger fish, they didn't just get stuck on the buttom and you either have to use an ability which has a chance to make the fish go, or wait forever.
thought this game would be a good cozy cute relax game, but its more just frustrating or boring, even as a relax game.
trying to ask for a refund, but since its over the 2 hour idk if i will actually get it lol.
Jogo muito bom, porém falta adicionar um menu de configuração, modo tela cheia e tradução para português. 😃
Really cool and chill game to play. Sadly it has some bugs which make the experience worse.
a lil grindy but its a really fun game with a lot of content was $8 so maybe not worth :D
Very good game. Makes me want to hold onto life a little longer :)
