really good graphifics in the game
Only get if you really like looking at cool space stuff, because the visuals are indeed simply amazing here. But the "game" part, even if there is any "game" here, is severely lacking: as a spacesim, you won't get anything here beyond orbital mechanics and a simple warp drive.
the atmosphere, (of the entire game), is beautiful and the amount of things you can find is truly fine dining. landing on the planets and getting cool shots is always fun. the only criticism i have is that the game doesn't pull you back into playing it again, until you actually decide to reopen the game. i know the game is literally a simulator and therefore it doesn't have a way to do that, but when i'm choosing a game to play, this one rarely goes on the table. but, this game looks like it is going in a good direction. it is still in early access at the time of this review, so i will edit my review if anything changes.
Space Engine is an absolutely beautiful way to explore our universe, and a fantastic tool for photo and video. My desktop backgrounds for the last couple months have just been different screenshots I've gotten in this game.
I randomly get curious about celestial bodies and this satisfies that curiosity pretty well. If you wanna really experience this game for all its worth: you'll need a decent rig to run it. I have a Ryzen 5 7600 and a GForce RTX 3060 and the graphics card is definitely the bottleneck.
It works on Steam Deck it does get glitchy a bit but it does work! and its a beautiful game i recommend 100%.
Two words. Holy shit. In only 20 hours this has been a truly amazing experience. It allows you to explore our universe with no limits. Every exoplanet, every star system, every galaxy, every single light year. This game has single-handedly given me an immense interest in astronomy I never knew I had. I could not recommend it more.
P.S. the graphics are beautiful
Really cool game 10/10 Just can get a little boring sometimes
Played countless hours of the free version 0.9.7.2, but decided to pick up the Steam version for all the additions over the years and to support the dev. Needless to say, the Steam version is worth it to pick up. These devs know what they’re doing and have continued to update the game since 2014. That’s commitment!
Its definitely a chill game where you can just chill and explore the universe, and you can see some good sights too! it would be better if you could go to cities on earth, but i recommend it! 9/10
good but pls update the water and fix inside the rings of any planet. when i look inside the rings it lags my game cause tons of ice starts randomly flying 3000 miles everywhere which causes lag, unless if its just my game is broken from a mod
fun exploring
yes
i love going to different stars and plants and etc
Fun game, the whole universe, and even tho i for some reason learned that i hate or am scared to be near big planets, i still enjoy it :)
Want to feel insignificant? Want to be put in your proper place? Want to come closer to grasping how ineffectual your life and everything you believe is? Put away those binders and re-holster that lube, cowboy. This isn't a copy-paste craigslist personals dominatrix ad (sadly, those have been discontinued); this is the universe, bro.
Satisfy your curiosities about the incomprehensible vastness of the space surrounding the tiny little planet you inhabit. This simulator comes about as close as you can get to actually realizing the scale of distance that exists between all known things in the universe - and to those unknown, procedural generation has entered the chat to fill in the blanks.
Start at earth, and pan out to the moon, then to the next few planets in our system, shoot past the sun, and blast your way out of the Milky Way, and onto any star, planet, moon, nebula, nova, asteroid or galaxy you can think of. There is no objective here. This is simply a fascinating exploratory mission rendered with beautiful visuals to anyone curious to experience the absolute vastness of the cosmos. Point and click travel allows you to go literally anywhere and see renderings of celestial objects in stunning photo-realistic detail (until procedural generation fills in the gaps).
If you need objective-oriented, progressive gameplay this is not going to do anything for you. But, if any part of you has a child-like curiosity about the wonders of space, there is no experience like it. The atmospheric soundtrack is on some kinda Interstellar vibe, leaving you with a profoundly enlightening experience as you float around in a world you were born too early to ever experience otherwise.
BTW - I did not to drugs while playing this game, but it would indubitably be magnitudes better blown out of your mind. Js.
Quest 3 controllers don't work properly and you can't freely move using them, so if you bought it for VR you can use it only with keyboard and mouse really. The sim is pretty cool though.
This isn't really a game per say, it's more of an exploration simulator that gives you the entire universe to check out on your own time. You can go literally anywhere in the cosmos that you want to see, and it's all in stunning realistic detail. To me this is what I feel is missing from a lot of modern space exploration games, is the sense of wonder and freedom you have to go out and explore space and all that it has to offer. Most space games I've played so far restrict you to only certain areas, are just loading screens of when you want to land on a planet (Starfield), or they're restrictive to a point where you can't even leave your own ship (Elite Dangerous). This however to me is how I feel it should be done, It isn't so much about finding animals and loot but just seeing the beautiful landscapes and sights on other worlds.
Another thing I really love about Space engine is that it gives you the tools to actually do a bit of your own world building, and since a lot of what you find is procedurally generated, you will come across something new all the time. I've had a lot of fun finding different alien worlds, landing on them to see what they're like, and writing up entire bits of lore regarding said worlds.
Space Engine is absolutely Incredible, If you are someone who loves Astronomy, this is the perfect program for you!
amazing amazing amazing amazing game!!!!!!! so much SPACE fr!! honestly relaxing too!!
I really recommend buying this little space game. I'm a space and astrophysics fan and i have never seen a game from this genre that has been this detailed. This is the best space game for relaxing or just exploring. Nobody can change my mind about that
I remember playing this years ago when the project was still in its early stages. It has improved drastically since and is a technological marvel. If you have even the slightest interest in space or exploration in general, there is literally unlimited content for you to explore in this detailed simulation of our universe.
This game is absolutely incredible especially for the first time when you're barely figuring out what you're able to do in this procedural generated universe that's also filled with tons of real models of celestial objects.
Traveling from one location to another is incredibly easy and is very simplified and user friendly. You don't have to wait minutes to get from one place to the other, most of the time it's just seconds especially when you want to travel from an object you clicked on or if you want to go to an object you searched in the search engine.
There's a very wide variety of planets, stars, galaxies, moons, and much more to explore whenever you want. You won't ever be able to explore them all because that's how vast the universe in this game is.
A favorite thing of mine to do in this game is stand on the surface of Earth at night and look up to see which star system I want to explore so I can visit it's planets and their moons.
This game does have it's annoying bugs at times but for now you can just simply close the game and boot it back up again and you'll usually load back in where you left off which is very convenient.
I really hope they continue to add more to this game as it has so much more potential and it proves itself very well with it's stunning visuals.
My rating: 9/10
The graphics are sick and it doesnt even take a goo computer to run, you can see a model of the universe in this
My only complaint is I feel the base game should at least allow us to take higher resolution screenshots. The screenshots it allows are not nearly good enough to even use as a desktop background.
This is one of, if not the most detailed and visually realistic and stunning space viewing programs. It doesn't have everything, but it has close to everything. Absolutely perfect for space fans. You can see thousands of asteroids, the lakes on Titan, and other galaxies in a perfectly cohesive and seamless way! Amazing work
Incredible procedural engine. I'm able to generate new individual stars and planets for my personal project whenever I need one.
I used to really enjoy SpaceEngine, I had 0 issues with the game and everything was fine. Until now, Nearly everytime I load into the game I cant get past the menu without the game either crashing or not loading in. And even if I got past the menu, It would only take a quick movement for the game to crash.
Lets say I got past the menu and was able to play, Thats not all. If I managed to play it and get some good time out of it, It would take a few minutes for the game to bug out, if I go to a planet it works fine but the moons are completely black, and I just noclip through them when I try to land on them, Please fix this if you can.
I would try to lower graphics but I cant without something going wrong, it takes almost 10 minutes just for stuff to work. If I look into this and find out its my computer making the issue I will delete this review.
its a great fun game! quality is great. DONT TURN UP THE MAGINTDE ALOT defnitely reccomend it.
This game is amazing! To be honest I might have lower specs than recommended on certain things, but this game still runs at playable fps and also looks pretty! I especially love how this game runs well while having such an absolutely massive sense of scale!
this is currently the best 30 dollars ive spent
this game runs pretty good on my laptop (i have a geforce 2050 rtx with a 144 hertz monitor) it runs at 144 until you tweak the settings to ultra
I just mess around click on different objects and explore. I'm sure there's more to get out of it but just playing around is fun and the visuals are stunning.
An absolutely fantastic tool for anyone with even the slightest interest in astronomy. My appreciation in the subject has only benefited and if you use the tool creatively, it's also of great value towards world building and other creative projects. Absolutely worth it at full price, but criminally cheap on sale for the experience offered.
SpaceEngine is an incredible and very beautiful piece of software that satisfies almost every itch for unencumbered space exploration wanderlust I have. It is a virtual planetarium on your PC that allows you to go to any world in a procedural universe that fully integrates real data where it exists. I cannot express how much I love and recommend this software for anyone looking for eye candy and something to foster a wonder in the universe. I keep coming back to SpaceEngine on a routine basis and never seem to get bored with it personally, as it quickly became one of the main reasons I built a PC and moved to PC gaming once I learned of its existence.
If you have any remote interest in space or exploration of the universe, or even just want some very beautiful scenery for a desktop wallpaper, buy SpaceEngine. You will not regret it.

Haven't written many reviews on here, but his game is incredible. How they managed to model everything is amazing, makes you feel very small. :)
Most awe inspiring, claustrophobic, agoraphobic, horrifying, and beautiful experience in my life. The scale of which really boggles the mind.
It is not a game. It is an engine you can use to traverse the universe. If that's something you have always wanted to do, this is the simulation for you.
If you are a fan of space, this is a fantastic game to cruise around. I have a lot of fun exploring so many different star systems, nebulae, and black holes. This is a game you meander around in when you want something chill to do.
Not sure what to write about this one, but its great! Space engine is a 1:1 simulation of the universe using known data and some really cool procedural generations for the unknown parts.
I only used it to explore, but there's a new flight sim mode that seems promising!
Very recommended if you are interested in space exploration and astronomy!
really cool! :D
the fact you can go pretty much ANYWHERE, and yes, ANYWHERE in space is amazing
it was sooooo cool! but i think that there should be a shortcut that you press so that you can reset the resolution, cause i was messing with it and had to keep restarting it
played the free demo of this back in like 2017. I never realised quite how far this has come. It's incredible now compared to what it was back then! Definitely would recommend to any space enthusiasts!
If thou art one for exploration, discovering new planets and galaxies, I wouldst recommend this game. However, for mine own part, I find it to be rather dull and erratic. I oft find myself wandering the vastness of the universe, stumbling upon new planets, and even imagining backstories for them. Yet, after but a quarter-hour, I grow weary and quit the game, not to return until weeks have passed.
As for the price, I do believe £24.99 is a tad steep for such a game. In mine opinion, it shouldst be priced closer to £16.99, and no more. It seems a more fitting sum for the experience it doth offer.
### A Universe of Endless Possibilities: A Review of Space Engine
As I sit here, pen in hand, or rather fingers on keyboard, I am still trying to wrap my head around the sheer magnitude of what Space Engine has to offer. This isn't just a game; it's an immersive, cosmic experience that catapults you into the vast expanse of our universe, offering an unparalleled level of depth and complexity. For those who have ever gazed up at the night sky, wondering what lies beyond our small blue planet, Space Engine is the ultimate tool for exploration and discovery.
#### Unbridled Exploration
One of the most striking aspects of Space Engine is its ability to simulate the entirety of the known universe. With procedural generation at its core, the game can create an almost infinite number of stars, planets, asteroids, comets, and even galaxies, each with its unique characteristics. This means that no matter how long you play, you will always find something new to explore, a new planet to land on, or a new star system to discover. The freedom to roam the cosmos, unencumbered by the constraints of a linear narrative, is incredibly liberating, allowing players to craft their own story within the universe.
#### Realism and Accuracy
What truly sets Space Engine apart from other space exploration games is its commitment to realism and scientific accuracy. The game's developer has clearly done their homework, incorporating real astronomical data and using complex algorithms to simulate the behavior of celestial bodies. This attention to detail is evident in everything from the orbits of planets to the appearance of nebulae, creating an experience that feels remarkably authentic. For those with an interest in astronomy, Space Engine serves not only as a form of entertainment but also as a valuable educational tool, offering insights into the workings of our cosmos.
#### Customization and Community
Another significant advantage of Space Engine is its robust modding community and the ease with which players can customize their experience. The game supports a wide range of user-created content, from new textures and models to entirely new planets and star systems. This not only extends the game's replay value but also ensures that the community remains active and engaged, continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible within the game. Whether you're looking to enhance the visuals, add new gameplay mechanics, or explore entirely new regions of space, the modding community has you covered.
#### Performance and Accessibility
Despite its ambitious scope, Space Engine manages to achieve a remarkable balance between detail and performance. The game runs smoothly even on modest hardware, making it accessible to a wide range of players. This accessibility is further enhanced by the game's intuitive controls and user-friendly interface, which make it easy for newcomers to dive in and start exploring. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking for a unique experience, Space Engine is designed to be enjoyed by everyone.
#### Conclusion
In conclusion, Space Engine is more than just a game; it's a gateway to the cosmos, a tool for exploration, and a testament to human curiosity. Its blend of realism, customization, and endless possibility makes it a must-play for anyone with even a passing interest in space or astronomy. As you embark on your own cosmic journey, remember that the universe is full of mysteries waiting to be uncovered, and with Space Engine, you have the keys to unlock them. So, buckle up, set course for the nearest star, and prepare to experience the universe like never before. Space Engine is not just a game; it's an odyssey through the infinite expanse of space, and it's waiting for you.
If you like space and astronomy then you'll love this game. I explored for almost three hours without even thinking about it.
actual black magic how this game almost never stutters when going from intergalactic space down to a planet's surface
You explore galaxies star systems and planets
I would Highly recommend this game for people who really like realistic space exploration type games
This is truly amazing. If you have ever dreamed of travelling faster than the speed of light and having the ability to cruise around the known universe, this is an experience you won't want to miss.
This is the best space simulation game Ive ever played, and runs smoothly despite being a 1:1 scale of the whole universe
It is a beautiful game. You can go anywhere in the universe and see anything you want to see. Very reasonable price 10/10 would recommend
