Bad, stay away from this one.
Bad, the single player is really a bad experience that leaves you totally empty. Actually it's hard to even call it single player since the progression seem non-existent level-wise. Waste of time.
Not recommended, not even if you get it on sale.
A good futuristic racing game! However, the online community is very small, and the amount of single-player content is a bit limited, so I'd probably wait for a sale.
I downloaded this after I finished pod racer. This game doesn't have any of the speed or tight controls of pod-racer. Game feels very slow and has poor control. It also has some awkwardness with the menus. Looks good just doesn't have that final 15% to make it a good game.
Hopefully we will get a good pod-racer sequel someday.
Feels very unfinished. Vehicle stats seem to have no correlation with the actual feel or handling of the vehicle. Only four to choose from. Levels are very similar, so I am unsure of how many there even are. There's one with a blizzard in a cave where you cannot see at all. Seems like a bad idea in a racing game. No reverse or track reset button, so if you crash at certain angles, you cannot correct it for 5 seconds or more.
Too much at base price but fun overall, get on sale

This combat podracing game reminds me of Oban Star-Racers. I am enjoying it. The scenery art is fantastic and the pods, even though only 4 now, clearly show their characteristics in maneuverability. I also like the minimalist and intuitive menu. I hope this game will grow
buy it when it's on sale. -90%$24.99
$2.49. it is so much fun.
Since this is now on sale and I've made the mistake of purchasing (and am now refunding it), do yourself a favour and just don't.
This isn't worth any money at all. The presentation is bare bones, I feel like there's one boring music track and like 4 different tracks or so. In all honesty it's probably more, but it doesn't matter, because they're all boring and/or annoying. I also can't really see a difference between the 4 different vehicles, apart from that the first one is significantly faster or at least seems to be. So, sound is boring, presentation is boring, graphics aren't great, tracks are boring and enemies are just push overs in the beginning and will probably kick your ass later on and frustrate the hell out of you. "Later" is a good joke, because the campaign only has like 15 races, most of which are simple races that are done in a matter of 2 minutes, the other variant COULD have actually been interesting, but of course it's not. You basically race after a giant monster that is thundering down the track in front of you. The race ends when the beast is felled.
Well shit, here comes the big issue...at least in the beginning I've had so much headway that I was the only one doing any damage to it, turning the race into a 10 minute annoyo-fest. Since the only weapon that seems to work on the damned thing is the guided rocket (which always hits whoever is ahead of you I guess), it will take a while to get there. Pickups are uninspired and boring as well, if you even know what they do...and nudging a boulder or getting hit by something damages your engine and you slow down to a crawl for like 5 seconds.
Just play Redout instead...This game dares to demand 23 euros from you...lol. And since it doesn't sell anyway I guess, it's now 90% discounted and even that is too much. MAYBE you can have half an hour of fun in multiplayer... IF it had split screen, which it does not. Oh and I almost forgot: They want to sell you loot boxes as well. In a full priced game...fuck off.
The game runs pretty smooth (I have 16GB RAM , GTX 1060, Core i7 Skylake) and its fun. But to me the AI is hard even on easy difficulty

I'd give Overlanders a pass, for now. Especially considering the AUD$36 Price tag.
The concepts on display and ideas are really interesting and honestly unique and refreshing. The issue is the execution and content. The racing is really fun, and has a great dual-steer mode much like a market competitor, Redout. Getting back to Overlanders, the main issues that were glaring at me after not even an hour of gameplay:
- Controls: The controls are unconfigurable, this is really important for any player that wants to play their own way - which is the reason it's all the more important to have rebindable keys and eliminate this kind of simple hassle that can drastically change someone's experience of the game.
Also, in a racing game, there's no controller support except for actually in-races. And it doesn't even tell you the default bindings! In the tutorial, you're taught with keyboard controls - again, in a racing game.
- Content: the game currently consists of a tutorial, multiplayer mode and campaign mode. While content can be difficult to provide, only 14 races exist for the Campaign mode. Considering a race on average takes less than 5-10 minutes, if you complete every race the first time that makes for less than 2 hours of singleplayer content! This screams of a lack of gamemode diversity and depth. While the original gamemode is certainly fresh, fun and interesting, limiting the game to that really hurts its content amount and replay value. The devs should aim to implement a few more fun gametypes, such as an arena mode, knockout, even something as simple as a time trial can provide enough game diversity to where you actually have content and aren't making the player feel as though they're smashing their head against a wall.
- A few small things: obviously this is preferential but I think any game that's premium and doesn't require lootboxes shouldn't have them. You pay for loot boxes to get random gear, where you should be able to simply pay to get that gear that you wanted. The camera can be a bit fiddly sometimes with hovercraft slightly behind the player completely blocking the field of view. And I've noticed missle tracking can fall through the ground and continue on, especially on the Ice Map (from the second race).
[*] Please add co-op in future if possible. Racing games are pretty much the last bastion of this so it's a really nice feature to have.
These points were directed both towards players and the devs, as these are things that can be improved to drastically help the playability of the game. Overall it seems as though a great foundation and concept brought this game to life, however it seems as though the devs ought to have released the game in 'early access' to let them work on the game and iron out any issues before charging for a 'release title' in which I can't even change the volume!
