Sonic Adventure 2

I wish that there was an option to give a game a mixed review. This game is janky and I have raged hundreds of times. the only possible way to beat the last story is to get an extra lives glitch due to how hard it is. That's why beating the levels and the game is even more satisfying. the gameplay is alright, and the story is even better, but I am only giving this game a good review out of generosity. seriously, I can't tell you how many times I wanted to give up, and play Pizza tower instead to cleanse my pallet. if you rage a lot, don't get this game, but if you are a sonic fan, go right ahead.

Sonic Adventure 2 is a fun, fast, and sometimes infruiating platformer, mainly due to enemies and jank-iness but the game surely is still charming. It has three types of levels: Action, with Sonic & Shadow. Treasure-Hunting, with Knuckles & Rouge, and Mech, with Tails & Eggman. Personally the action stages are the best, with me liking the treasure hunting and despising the mech levels, but it truly depends since levels vary, if you do like platformers and Sonic, I highly recommend you at least check out this game. 7.5/10

I've loved this game ever since I bought it for my PS3.... actual banger. Sonic rocks my fucking socks off. I don't even care that the tails mech stages specifically can be such a bitch to complete or that basically all the space stages suck ass. Getting to play as super sonic/shadow in the finale kicks so much ass (also crush 40 my beloved). Bring back the chao garden! Preferably not a slog to grind though...

Amazing Sonic classic of my childhood. It's great with the Mayflash adapter if you grew up with it on Gamecube. Playing it on keyboard sucks ass but getting the adapter for my controllers was a major upgrade as I have a gamecube but I misplaced my physical copy of this game.

this game is amazing. Although the controls are kinda junky, if you have a console controller to connect to pc with, this game is playable and enjoyable. would recommend this to new sonic fans

Great game 100% buy the game NOW it feels fast and amazing the chao garden the mods although the the tails and eggman stages are great when it comes to wanting to get all the emblems but otherwise HOLY SHIT THE WAY THEY MOVE THE PHYSICS FEEL HORIBLE AND DO NOT POINT OUT THE SPELLING ERROR THE MECHS ARE BAD but everything else is good

Originally I was hesitant on buying Sonic Adventure 2 after friends and family were telling me that this game was "the worst game in the series", and I'm VERY glad I didn't listen to them. Overall, the game is very fun to play in both single player and multiplayer with my friends/family, and I can confidently say that the game is pretty re-playable with all the separate missions for each stage and the Chao garden.

Besides that, the game did take some getting used to at the start. I was slightly confused with the camera controls and I found the treasure hunting and mech stages pretty annoying. HOWEVER, after giving the game a couple hours I've found both types of stages to be pretty fun, and even prefer some treasure hunting levels to normal running levels (The mech stages are DEFINITELY the worst part of the game imo). The running stages were a blast straight from the get-go, with only maybe one or two stages that I disliked. It's a shame that there were so few of them in this game. These stages hone

Though I don't think its as necessary as Sonic Adventure, I think that its probably a good idea to get maybe one or two quality of life mods for the game, but you're also you're not really missing out if you don't either. It's really up to you!

If you like Sonic, and are willing to give the game a bit of time to prove itself, I'd say this game is most definitely one of the best you can get here on Steam! A solid 8.5/10!

There is an SA2 section available there. There's the Essential Catagory, which is what you need for the best experience without changing too much, the JP Voice Essential Catagory, which you will want to download as well if you prefer the Japanese Dub. There's Gameplay Tweaks, which Tweak some Elements maybe a bit too much, and I will personally not recommend using on your first playthrough, and the Customization Mods which are basically tiny Visual Tweaks you will either want or not want to download depending on Your personal prefrence.

Even in 2025 i consider this the perfect modern Sonic games. On top of amazing game mechanics; the ability to play all the characters on both sides gives it such an enriching feel.

It's a pretty peak game, but this port is just the gamecube version and its lowkey an ass port of the dreamcast version. Mods are kinda needed just to make the game more like the dreamcast version. Still peak game tho.

sonic, look out, the fighters are bombing you, wait no, the missile you are on is launching, wait no, you need to get to the shuttle in the pyramid, wait no, the island is gonna blow up, wait no, gun is going to run you over with a truck, wait no, eggman is going to blow up the world with his laser and you need to stop him, wait no, you need to fight the hedgehog who swings the other way, wait no, you need to fight the nightmare lizard in the core of the space station next to the mechanical beating heart at the end of the sand slide inside the space colony, wait no, you need to fight the nightmare lizard but now hes embedded himself into the ark and is going to crash it into the earth! 10/10 game

A realy good game with a kart racer and a pet sim a very good story 10/10 5 stars .

This game no longer runs properly without modding it. Around a year ago this game would play with zero issues, now I have to find loop holes just to play the game. I know its a lot to ask of since its such an old game, but be warned before you buy, be prepared for it to not work without some research

Really good game so far, decent controls, and the only issue I really have is the camera bugs, but other than that, it's a masterpiece!

This is a WAY better port of sa1. the visuals are spot on, the chao garden, PEAK. and don't get me started on the gameplay/story. absolute GOAT.

Fun, playable. Buy it when it goes on sale. You'll need mods to fix the mystic melody portal and to fix the bright chao bugs.

one of the best sonic games due to the 3 play styles spicing it up compared to generations which is just speed and no shooting or tresure hunting and that goes for sonic adventure dx too

This game is a major step up from Adventure 1. The story is much darker in tone with a bit of humor sprinkled in here and there. The banter scenes are enjoyable to watch. I recommend anyone who plays this game plays Sonic Adventure 1 first, as there are some small details that impact the overall story of Adventure 2. However, as a stand-alone game, Adventure 2 is a fun game.

the story of this game is one of, if not the best, sonic story out there. the voice acting could be a bit different at times but i got a laugh out of it! the soundtrack is utterly PHENOMENAL!! hunnid p and crush 40's tracks are some of my personal favourites!!

gameplay wise?
this game is dying for a remaster.
horrible camera angles, unfair deaths.. im lucky enough in that my game doesnt crash or freeze. it's unplayable with a keyboard and mouse; i personally use an xbox one controller. in my opinion, sonic and shadow's stages are not that fun, they're not horrible, but i've definitely played better. i really enjoyed the treasure hunting stages, though! mech stages are... okay.

overall, this game is amazing. there are mods out there that make it easier to play, but i couldn't tell you if they do since i've never tried them. it has it's issues, but not matter if you've been a fan or a while or if you're a newcomer, this game is definitely worth a play!

It goes without saying that this is one of the best games of all time, and is full of action, and in between levels, you can visit the Chao Garden.

On my list of favorite/greatest Sonic games ever, Sonic Adventure 2 is up at the top with Mania and the OG Sonic games, not just because of the gameplay, but the memes and soundtrack of the game.

Confusing but really fun. (Especially the chao world) Learning how to move using a controller was definitely a challenge but you get used to it. Absolutely love the game and the music is awesome!

Awesome game, but alas, sometimes freezes and crashes. I also needed to open the game via local files, instead from the Steam Launcher to play the game. Wish this issue is resolved soon! Please leave me some suggestions on how to fix this issue for smooth gameplay.

I don't know how people are able to get through this whole game to be completely honest. I'm not sure if it's a shitty port to the PC, but the controls are literally unplayable as far as I'm concerned. I made it to the last story after torturing myself playing the rest of it (which is my own fault), and while trying to get through Tails' area, he won't turn in the air while i try to shoot the dynamite on the door which leads to me falling to my death passing by the door.
If everyone else has no issues then fuck me I guess, but regardless, I just can't do it

i used to play this game with my brother when i was younger and we had a lot of fun when we used to play it. We had so much progress until my brother had to sell to the game. We had a dark chao and tried to make a chaos chao but it died. So if you're looking for a game you want to play during your free time, I would recommend it to you.

It's alright, but the Sonic and Shadow makeout scene was a bit weird, especially since it was right before the divorce arc.

By far, the best Sonic game that has ever existed. Not only is it a peak Sonic game experience, what really sets this game apart is the Chao Garden mechanic. Anyone who got addicted to playing in the Chao Garden is, like me, waiting for the day SA3 is finally announced with a new Chao Garden. No other Sonic game matters. BTW I highly recommend the first SA game too.

It's all right. SA2 is one of those game where it's fun, despite how much of an unpolished mess it is. The port also has a few problems here and there, but nothing the mod manager can't fix. Just keep an open mind. This game is rough, but has some pretty fun moments.

SA2 is a classic addition in the sonic series. thought it has its ups and downs, its overall rewarding to play and complete the instesting story and play through great levels and set peices, i wish sega and sonic team could figure out a way to brimg this long forgeten gem of an era like the adventure series and build on its already awsome preformance

This game is great! This port is garbage and crashes frequently, while also having frequent sound bugs.

Sonic Adventure 2 is still one of the best games in the franchise, but this port is fundamentally broken without mods. Pre-rendered cutscenes won’t play, the opening cutscene crashes my entire system at random, in engine cutscenes are often missing facial animations and lighting effects, and the sound effects in the knuckles and tails sections are how even louder than they were in the original GameCube version. Thankfully the modding community for Sonic is excellent but for $10 I expect a game that functions when it launches.

Sonic and Shadow stages are good. Everything else can suck my 'ultimate life form'.

overrated ass game bruh. the mechs are dookie shit, the rail grinding balance is booty and the light dash either doesnt work and makes me lose all speed or it sends me flying into the void in final rush. to even get to play the game i had to download the config files online because the launcher doesnt detect my resolution which leads to an error. these errors better be from the port because if the game is actually like this then i dont get all the hype

Have you ever been told that something is really good? Like some really good food that everyone there likes? But every time you take a bite, It tastes really bad? And you know that its good to the others but you are just a picky eater? So you just end up looking like a miserable asshole because you don't like the food? Anyway, I HATE THE MECH SECTIONS!!! THE HOMING ATTACK DOESN'T FUCKING WORK I DESPISE CANNON'S CORE AND THE CONTROLS ARE JANKY AS FUCK.

This game is unplayable without mods. By default the game runs at the same framerate as the monitor and the physics are processed acording to the framerate. So by default my game was running more than 2 times faster than it was supposed to.
Sega should be ashamed of that port while it's simple to fix it I shouldn't be required to install third party software on my pc that I don't know the origin of.
Beside that it's a great game.

This game is amazing, however this port does come with it's drawbacks. It's an older port, so it's compatibility with modern hardware is pretty spotty. To get this game running correctly you need a mod loader, which isn't a deal breaker for a gem like this game. But it is frustrating having to resort to mods to fix issues like being able to play it in a proper fullscreen mode and other issues.

I really like Sonic Adventure 2. I don't think it's very good.
There are some really great moments, and most of the Sonic/Shadow stages are incredible, but with every poorly-aged mechanic and every blind corner you turn into a bottomless pit, the little frustrations I had grew and grew. I heard horror stories about the final level before, and after playing it, I can't imagine how anyone was able to have fun playing it without any kind of infinite lives cheat.
But wow do I like this game. Wow do I love thinking about it. Wow do I love booting it up just to play City Escape or Radical Highway for the sake of it.

Sonic Adventure 2 is flawed, and many of its levels I never want to think about for as long as I live, but I really like it. It might have aged poorly, it might not be the best game ever, hell, it might not even be that good objectively, but I had more fun than I ever thought I would playing it and that's what matters for me.
There is no shame in installing a mod manager.

One of my favorite games of all time. There is a bit of a learning curve when getting into SA2, but stick with it and you'll be rewarded with a fun adventure.

There are three distinct play styles, each fun and rewarding to master. Things are definitely harder starting out but as you progress you get tools and abilities that make things easier. There is a ton of replayability to each stage.

Not to mention, I would pay full price for the chao garden side content alone.

It's worth it for Chao Garden but the rest of the game is also pretty good too.
