Super nasu goty 2025 saludos desde peru 🇵🇪
Yumehikki is a charming game with cute pixel art, this makes me feel like it's just a bunch of Unity assets placed together to make a quick cash grab. Play the original.
I'm hesitant about recommending this game simply because I haven't played the game it's based on (don't worry, I intend to do so). HOWEVER, I did surprisingly enjoy playing it and it was the only thing I could think about wanting to do until I finished its story.
The controls were rough at times which made chase scenes and platforming sections a pain and I almost tore my hair out during one or two of the puzzles but I genuinely think I'd play through it again sometime in the future.
If you're looking for a faithful remastering of Yume Nikki, well, this probably isn't the game for you and plenty of other people can tell you why. But, if you don't care about that kind of thing then I'd say give it a shot (if you can get the game when it's on sale lol).
Super NASU > Overall gameplay.
Better play original yume nikki or fangame instead of this game.
After playing the original Yume Nikki (which is FREE on Steam) all I can say is this doesn't have the same charm at all...
Most of the effects and dream worlds in the original are not available in this remake. So you miss out on a lot of things that make Yume Nikki so memorable. The walking animations are jerky and have strange hitboxes. You have zero control over the camera angles. Which is fine for a side-scrolling game. But it gets inconvenient when the areas are more spacious like Block World. Speaking about Block World.... The Block World puzzle is VERY frustrating. You obviously need umbrella effect (which gives you a double jump ability) to complete it. Even with umbrella effect, it's still super hard. And that's all while using an Xbox controller. The horrible walking animations and fixed camera angles don't help. I also do not like the implications in the KyuuKyuu-kun cutscene. It was unpleasant, to say the least...
It's better to play the original Yume Nikki than play this disaster of a sequel!
an absolute insult of a game
Very different from the original Yume Nikki, but with some nice nods to the original that I enjoyed. I managed to play through *most* of the game unaided, but did need to refer to a guide at one particular point. It was a slight mix of being kind of obtuse and me just missing a thing I could interact with in a specific way.
Aside from the layout of the zones being different, a lot of the creatures are different in their behavior, as well. There are a lot of creatures that were once passive or just sat in the background that are now actively hostile. Not a bad change, honestly. Additionally, getting caught by a creature no longer teleports you to a different part of the dream, but instead just gives you a soft game-over where you respawn at the start of the segment. I wasn't so sure about this change at first, but I understand why they did it.
You see, instead of everything being an interconnected 'network' of dream zones (I mean, they do connect to each other in places, but not to the extent they do in the original game), each dream is sort of its own 'stage' with its own 'end point.' There's still a lot of exploration involved, just to a different extent to the original.
All in all, I do recommend it. It has some nice segments, some of which are very creepy, and lacks jump-scares. And some of the friendly creatures are quite charming.
idk man
Absolutely loved this game!
I did look at a walkthrough to achieve 100%, but the majority of the game I was able to complete myself. It's definitely different to and more restrictive than the original game (which I wholeheartedly enjoyed) but it still feels like Yume Nikki. The puzzles are fun, but not particularly difficult or frustrating and the settings and music are fantastic. While I did purchase this game on sale, I would still recommend buying it full price to fans of the original game. Those who haven't experienced or enjoyed the original might want to wait for a sale.In my view it's a markable game i mean a worthy remake, some functions and the gameplay is different but that's awesome cause in the OR game those functions were pretty annoying even the ost was change kinda, but it's memorable also, so yeah 10/10.
"Yume Nikki - Dream Diary" is not as bad as people say but I have mixed feelings too.
The major big problem I found is not knowing what to do. You have zero information or clues about how to progress in the game. In the end, you find yourself going in circles through the different dream worlds until by chance you find something.
I think is a game for people who like to think and cogitate about how to use the items they find in order to progress, because nothing in the game are going to tell you what to do with them.
Not as good as the original "Yume Nikki" I still recomend it because I enjoyed the redesigns, the soundtrack and the global scenery.
Six years later and I'm still pissed.
I understand that this is a game that was trying to reach a wider audience since not everyone can enjoy the masterpiece which is the original because most people would complain about it being nothing more than a "walking simulator", but that's the point of Yume Nikki, and I would hope that people would choose to play the original, before playing this game if they are new to the piece of media. This was honestly disappointing when I bought it because it plays like Limbo, and it's targeted audience is clearly people who have never found interest in the original so this was released for people who can't enjoy art for art, but rather they need stimulation through cheap puzzles and "game play". The only thing I found interesting about this game was getting to see beloved characters like Madotsuki in a 3D style, but beyond getting to see beloved characters from the original in this more glossy style, the game felt like an empty shell in comparison to the OG. If you've never played Yume Nikki before and you're thinking about playing this game first - Don't. Just go and enjoy the original the way it was intended, and don't even give this game a second thought.
only bought it for my steam profile lol. just play the original yume nikki.
i don’t typically leave serious reviews but this one felt right to do. i’ve grown up and played the original yume nikki multiple times over the last decade and i adore that game. i really truly hoped it would’ve been as magical as the original. in some aspects it does keep the magic, but in most, it’s lacklustre at best. i liked seeing all of the characters and scenery reimagined in a 3d world but dear god some of the chase sequences/puzzles/red light green light, etc etc, were so bad i couldn’t even bring myself to finish them. the street world with the eyeballs being one of the worst contenders. at what point does the eyeball have to reach to kill me? how am i supposed to lure an eyeball to a hand if they just follow me around? it genuinely just doesn’t make sense to me. and the platforming aspect is REALLY hard considering you can’t move your camera. and the linear progression takes away one of the most fun parts of the original game. i was really looking forward to playing this, but my excitement was ill founded. no disrespect to the devs, because i see what the image you were going for was, i just feel the execution was lacking.
There is not a single reason to play this game. It's an insult to the original game.
(Yeah I only played 20 minutes but idc)
I appreciate this game for what it attempts to be, but it simply falls short on so many aspects;
All of the art shown in the game leaves me to ponder on what could've been, rather than what it currently is, it just wasn't very well executed at all, and it massively disappoints me, in all honesty
Please play the original game instead, it's free and a lot more worth your time, unless you're trying to get Yume Nikki themed achievements for your profile, the badges or unlocking all of the in-game art, which are the only good parts about this game as a whole, I suggest waiting for a sale though as the normal price for this is just not worth it in the slightest
tldr, don't bother, just play the original - it's amazing
first, the good:
-the music (although it is mostly remixes)
-the redesigns of stuff from the original game are cool
-it looks good sometimes
-you can collect and view concept art
-there's some original stuff and its alright
-uhhhh.... the minigames are pretty fun
now the rest:
the main problem is the fact that progression is mostly linear while the original can be beaten in any order. you need to get this thing to give to this guy to get this thing to do whatever and you need this effect to get to this area to get this thing, etc
another problem is not knowing what to do, which was part of the original game but there it was fun because exploring in the original was fun because the atmosphere was so unique. here, the atmosphere is worse and exploration is worse cus the areas are either 2d corridors or tiny 3d areas.
there isn't much platforming, and when it is there it's pretty bad cus you can't move the camera and you only get the umbrella effect (double jump) fairly late into the game
puzzles, there aren't many and they're mostly basic
there are also some jumpscares and chase sequences, which are inherently dumb to have in yume nikki, and the chase sequences are just "hold right and maybe jump"
overall, it pales in comparison to the original and as its own thing it ranges from okay to very bad. oh yeah and it's very overpriced
but i got a yume nikki profile background so i guess it was worth it :steamhappy:
Buy this on sale if you really want to try it.
I bought it, ran around a bit and then got bored. Nothing like the original, and it wasn't really for me.
Gonna stick with the RPGMaker one :)
So, first things first, if you're here because of RPG Maker's Yume Nikki, take that thought, crumble it into a tiny ball and throw it to your neighbor's window. Eventually your neighbor will see what you think of it and throw this game back at you without playing the original game. The neighbor likes you, so they tried their best but they just don't know the original feeling! If you then retrieve your thoughts and compare to this game you may be disappointed, but if you haven't played the original or keep your YN thoughts only for the original version (which is free here on steam and surely other pages), then you'll have a fun time actually
