Wants to be a cozy game while acting like a freemium game the entire time, getting pop up notifications, large grinds to get any upgrades, and just general tedium ruins the idea of what should be a relaxing game.
Editing this review cus it was basically an angry rant before, lol. I stand by my points though.
The PC version is so unrewarding, the only difference from the mobile version is that your profit is reduced for some reason? If I want to make decent pizza's I end up paying more for ingredients than I earn per day (in the mobile version it's the other way around!) which makes money feel scarce to say the least. On top of that there's timed events that beg you to spend your hard-earned money on limited items (which I'd love to do! If I had in-game money to spend!) while not giving you nearly enough resources to earn said currency.
It feels like a scam, I paid almost 10 euros for something that is less fun, rewarding and in all ways a downgrade except for no ads (which at this point doesn't feel like an upgrade cus at least on mobile the ads can make you more money). I'm sad I can't refund this joke.
I really love this game but what you did with the PC (Steam) version is a real shame and I hope someday they patch this.
i love playing good pizza great pizza on my laptop in my free this game is so relaxing it really is
This game so far is really wholesome and fun! Getting further into the game there's so much you can do with customization as well as upgrading your pizzeria! I love the events it has and how much time and thought the developers have put into this amazing game! I love the art style and is overall a 10/10
I have also met some nice people through the discord! You can add people in the game as well as visit their pizzeria and give them stars, where it will show on their profile in the game, almost telling others they have a great rating! Love, Love, Love!
I love this game! Played it originally on mobile, and then bought it here when I realized it was on Steam because I didn't mind paying $10 for a game I really enjoyed before. It was overall nicer on PC, but probably more tiring at first before you get the auto-buddies since clicking a ton is a bit more strenuous than tapping with a finger. It's otherwise nice on PC since there aren't any ad intermissions between days, and you can play continuously. I find the gameplay loop and spread/variety of orders from niche and borderline incomprehensible to one-word very fun, and playing off of what I remember is entertaining! One of the few games I find continuously keeps my interest, and thus worth a review. :3 <3
hilarious dialogue, adorable characters, and great storyline (❁´◡`❁) perfect for the people who grew up playing papa's games
Good pizza, great game! I love this game so far. It's simple, but has a lot of various complexities in it and things to unlock. It's been very fun so far. I can see myself playing this a lot more too. Their valentine related event is a cute idea too.
Cute game, i love the option of decorating your pizzeria. Kinda hard to play with other people virtually. If you are of a solitary player, this game is for you. The challenges are so fun to participate in.
it's simple and fun. I can't remember what I paid for it, but I would recommend spending $5 or less. It's not a fancy game, but it's satisfying. I really like having to figure out what customers are asking for, and the occasional ridiculous customer!
A few wishes:
I think "perfect" pizzas look dumb. why would all the ingredients stack on each other instead of being nicely, evenly spread out?
Why do customers who expect 2+ pizzas or want it double baked have the same patience as customers only asking for one pizza?
The homeless guys probably shouldn't be called hobos. I'm no expert on political correctness but that seems... off.
More decorations! And probably cheaper, considering how hard it is to make a high profit... but I'm not complaining about that part. It gives some realism to a silly little game
Very cute and cozy game. If you're looking to accidentally waste an entire day making fictional pizzas, this is the game for you!
My first experience with this game was back around 2018-2019, I am not exactly sure when exactly, but I remembered I downloaded this game on the app store and had it for a while until I found a better time waster and deleted it.
When I saw this game on PC, I decided to buy it. Since the android version was F2P with microtransactions, and this version costs 10$, I thought it was going to be a superior version than the mobile version. But it turns out, it's actually a port, probably port from the tablet, and they removed the option of purchasing premium currency, but that doesn't mean that the premium currency is removed. In fact, it's there, you just can't buy it, you can only get it from quests. This kind of reminds me of another mobile port I played called Prime Defenders, a tower defender game where they also removed the ability to purchase premium currency, but the premium currency is still there, it's just obtained through grinding, like this game. Now I'll come back to this, because for a moment I want to actually bring out some of the positives.
This game is a pizza making simulator. The customer gives you the order, you make pizza based on that order. Simple enough. At the start, orders are fairly simple since you only have few ingredients, later as game progresses, you will get more ingredients and you will have more challenging orders, and I'll come back to that later, because I have a special gripe with the orders.
Now the game currency of this game is green money, or cash. You use this cash to pay rent, pay upkeep for your ovens, buy upgrades, new ingredients, and sometimes keeping the place bug or thief free and ingredients. The customers will pay you enough to cover the expenses for the ingredients, and if you bring them pizza in a short amount of time, you get a bonus tip, but if you screw up the order, you will have to refund them. So the idea is pretty simple, but the game isn't just make pizza, earn money, buy upgrades... because there is also a story, yes this game has a story, a pretty wacky story, because the entire world in this game revolves around pizza puns. These stories are divided in chapters, and as of writing this review, there are 5 chapters, but from what I hear the devs are developing a sixth chapter which should come out soon... I will probably not be reviewing that chapter because I am not returning to this game again, but negatives aside, the game does have pretty funny story, with some twists and turns and the system itself is pretty simple and casual: Progress the story, make pizzas, earn money, buy upgrades rinse and repeat.
The first four chapters of this game are in my opinion great. I think my favorite was the first one where you rival Alicante who is trying to be as much of a bully to you it's kind of funny IMO, like he tells you to make a pepperoni pizza, you make it correctly and he can't admit it and says "Great... that was the worst pizza I ever tasted!". From chapter 2, the game sort of becomes a puzzle game, because as you gain more ingredients, you will start to notice that the orders... start to become a bit puzzle like, for example one of the orders is "Ding dong" which you are supposed to make bell pepper pizza, because it has the word Bell... get it? This can be both good and bad, good part is when you get these orders the first time, you have to put your thinking cap, but of course you can always just ask them "What?" and they will be more specific, though that will reduce their tip as a result. So overall, the entire experience is pretty cool, it's a good game if you want to be a pizza maker for a few minutes, and the upgrades are overall decent.
Another cool thing about this game is limited time events. Depending on whether Valentinte;s day, Halloween or Christmas day comes, you can participate in special events where they introduce new orders and new ingredients. This is pretty cool, I like this. It's a bit FOMO though, I wish they had a separate DLC where you can buy to participate these events at any time, but it is what it is. They are cool, I liked it.
And that's probably all the positives I am going to say about the game. Time for my main gripes and why I am giving a negative review.
The music is absolutely repetitive, and the entire game has only few soundtracks. They get old pretty fast, and even the special even music becomes repetitive. Overall, the music department sucks, I would say it's even depressive in a way, I wish they had a bit more cheerful italian pizzeria music than... whatever they were playing... I do like Alicante's theme though, that's the only OST I like.
Now I said that the puzzle orders can be good and bad. The good part is the first time you get them... the bad part is when you keep getting them. I probably got Sponge Bob and Little Mermaid reference a dozens of times over my 170 days of in game playthrough and honestly some of the orders start to get extremely annoying. "No pain no grain" is a pretty good example, because it's basically "put everything on the pizza except corn", and that takes a lot of time by the way. A little more variety wouldn't hurt.
If these were the only problems, I would probably give thumbs up of this game... but notice that I said I liked the first four chapters and I mentioned that there are 5 chapters... Oh yes, the main reason why this game is getting thumbs down is... CHAPTER 5.
Chapter 5 is when devs here decided that: "You know what... we are not making enough money from MTX from this game... so let's make chapter 5 waste as much gems as possible". Gems are premium currency that you only get in this version of the game from quests and achievements. In the first four chapters, gems are only used to speed up the plants that grow in the garden (That you get in chapter 4) and buying cosmetics... and then Chapter 5 came. This is a spoiler, but I don't really care because chapter 5 made me absolutely despise this game. So chapter 5 is... have you guys ever played Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney? Do you know that detective part of Phoenix Wright where you go around talk to people, collect clues? This is exactly that, but the devs made a little trick... for you see, you have to visit certain shops and either interact with the shopkeepers or collect clues around their shop... but you can only do once per game day. If you want to enter another shop or re enter the shop... you have to spend gems... and the first time it costs 2 gems... then 4 gems, then 8 gems etc... The cost actually resets to 2 the next IRL day, so the game is basically doing the same bullshit mobile games do: Either pay up premium currency or waste more time, Entered the wrong shop? Too bad, spend a day taking orders and wait for the next in game day... AND THEY DO THIS IN THE PAID VERSION OF THE GAME. This is my main problem, you cannot port a game to PC, charge it, and then leave this scummy premium currency bullshit that other mobile games do as well.
Devs, this is completely unnacceptable. And I did actually finish Chapter 5, and low and behold... only 0.8% of players actually finished it. Why? Because what I said above, Chapter 5 is not only in my opinion really badly made, because without a guide, you will constantly enter wrong shops and have to wait the next game day or spend hard earned gems to progress the story, but it's also made with bad intention to waste your gems... except the devs did it in the mobile port so you can buy more gems, and on PC they just didn't care.
You want to play a pizza simulator? Play Papa's Pizzeria Deluxe. It's based off the old flash game, and it came before this game, and let me tell you... it's better than this game. Forget about this game. Until the devs remove the gem barriers in chapter 5, which I don't think they will, I don't really care about Chapter 6, nor do I care for returning this game.
5/10, mediocre mobile port, play Papa's Pizzeria Deluxe instead.
My fault for not understanding this was a mobile game to PC port. All the microtransactions were left in the game plus the hundreds of dollars of DLC content to boot.
The game feels cheap because of it. I dont want to play a mobile game on my PC.
Lesson learned about reading up more on those cozy game recommendations. Its unfortunate because the game is funny and chill. I just dont want to be bombed to oblivion asking to spend more money. Money that really impacts game play. Im much more inclined to support devs in their DLC if they arent trying to force me to spend money.
Pizza Fix 5/5
BUT
The game needs to be better balanced:
1. You can't make enough money quickly to upgrade the restaurant. (Feels like you can't make any progress.)
2. Customers' happy meter empties too quickly. (there is modifier you can use to slow the emptying rate, but you have to use your in-game money or something for it.)
3. Adding ingredients to the pizza can consume significant cost (sauce and cheese) if you just click and hold and move it just keeps adding (even once the entire pizza is filled)
4. the Helper Buddies are too expensive. (cheese helper ...etc) - you need $250 (in-game) money to buy a single one.
5. The customers don't provide objective feedback, so you won't know what you need to improve for next time. (not talking about obvious things like missing ingredients).
6. Customers talk to much non-sense / waste time / annoying (this might be true IRL)
7. Games are supposed to be fun, Once it feels like a chore, there is no point in playing.
I played this game on phone first (for free), and after paying for the steam version i dont think this is any better. If you want to play it, then do it on mobile.
Also if you don't play for awhile, then open the game you just get bombed with messages, and other crap you don't care about, and you have to sit through that before you can get your pizza fix in.
Good Pizza, Great Pizza is the perfect game if you’ve ever wanted to run a pizzeria while slowly losing your sanity. It starts off simple—take orders, make pizzas, make money. But then customers start rolling in with requests like, “Half sauce, no cheese, but with pepperoni on only one-third of the left side… in the shape of a dolphin.” Meanwhile, the rent is due, your oven is on fire, and some guy named Notorious B.I.G. Cheese just ordered a pizza but refuses to tell you what toppings he wants.
Despite the stress, the game is strangely addictive. The art is charming, the gameplay is satisfying, and there’s something oddly rewarding about perfectly crafting a pizza—right before your customer still gives you a bad review because “it wasn’t pizza enough.” 8.5/10, would recommend, but be warned: this game will make you question both your math skills and your faith in humanity.
game wont sync from my steam deck to pc and all the dlc i bought using my steam deck is not on my pc (which is 100 days behind so all the decorations i was grinding for are gone) and cant fix it at all i wouldn't recommend
This game is super fun and will keep you on your toes! The characters and the aesthetic is very cute and I really enjoy the story.
I absolutely highly recommend this game to anybody who loves/loved playing any of the old Papa's games on flash. The general premise is the same, making pizzas, but there's so much more to it.
The customers are diverse and feel like real people, there are storylines and events to progress through, as well as decorations and customization. It's everything I wanted from Papa's Pizzaria, and more.
I feel it necessary to note, there are micro-transactions available but they are mostly for cosmetic purposes and are not necessary for gameplay at all. And if you really don't want to spend any money, check out the mobile app version (for free)!
Over 200 bucks in DLC for a mobile game port wouldn't bother me if it was free and better than the OG version. It's a fine game, but I don't have a lot of patience for this kind of behavior with EA and other large companies and I still don't have it here. I have played the game on mobile and PC and found the mobile version a little less annoying to play cause of the touch screen. The gameplay loop is cute, I like the continued character stories.
I cooka da pizza....i havea good time...even with the strange orders...
the only complaint i have is it DOES feel a little slow to upgrade at times, but otherwise, a nice chill game to spend time with!
very cozy game, the challenges are fun. i like decorating the store and learning what customers usually order. the delivery function is also pretty fun
Forced data collection to use cloud saving and microtransactions
Fine but a bit too much like a mobile game. It has two types of currency :( I found the game play repetitive and people want you to solve riddles to get their orders- just tell me what you want. Also, the patience rate seems to go down for everyone equally but it will always take you longer to make a pizza with more ingredients. You can't ever keep customers with a complex order happy. Cute are and story idea but not for me.
NGL, for a paid version of a free mobile game I expected it to be without microtransactions.
I went into Good Pizza, Great Pizza expecting nothing, I hoped for a simple but engaging mobile port that I could play with my young children and maybe even have fun myself.
Unfortunately, GPGP is a typical grind-fest mobile port which may be fun when you're on a long journey with nothing to do but really isn't worth playing on PC.
You make money way too slowly with various mechanics being thrown in to take away your money before you can even buy the upgrades. I bought toppings thinking it would help me make money but instead it just gives me customers that almost always want every ingredient I have on every pizza (12 ingredients clicking 18 times each per pizza) which is tedious and quite frankly an insult to pizza when you have a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, peppers, mushrooms, basil, sardines, pineapple, onion, aubergine etc stacked up on a pizza like it's some sort of compost heap.
I can't play the single player with my kids because the timing is so tight I either won't make money or lose money and for whatever reason the ZEN-Mode floods me with customers asking for their compost pizzas which is amazingly tedious.
Nearly 10 hours of grind and I have had enough, maybe I'm missing something but i don't think I am.
Also, Devs, 'Bell Peppers' aren't spicy.
the person ordering explained it very bad
tried my best to understand
they got angry
changed my pizza place name to explain better
people started to explain better 10/10
This is such a cozy simulation game, its the perfect game to play if you want to turn your brain off but still have something fun to do. I usually listen to audiobooks while I play. It's so fun!
Whenever i play this game i put on Death Metal music to further enhance the cooking experience.
I love making great pizza. I love this cozy game so much
I love this GD game, its so fun.
It takes a simple premise of making pizzas and gave us a silly story.
The pizza combos you have the learn are funny also.
Also kinda difficult at times, so its challenging and fun!
9/10
It's fun. Cozy and chill. I don't usually play cozy & chill games outside of like, Animal Crossing, but this is really good. I recommend it.
the customers talk so cryptic but the game style is just too cute to stop playing
So cozy and fun. I can literally play for hours and not get bored lol
fun time
if you would eat a pizza do the same for this game
well dont eat it, not edible
but will have fun 100%
Really fun game that you can relax and play. I love it so far and own it on my phone as well.
Previously played this game on mobile and was very excited to play on steam, put in many hours and finished the story, grinding for the achievements. Dev support on steam was almost non-existent up until the beginning of this year, where they aligned the achievements with in-game achievements, but dont seem to know direction they want to go with and keep backpedaling on changes. I was very happy with this game previously but all of the back and forth and switch ups have made the game non-enjoyable and have removed the reason to come back to the game for the daily quests and bonuses.
I would recommend this game but not on computer, Its quite hard to keep people happy in this game because it just takes so long to place toppings with your mouse (unless you want your wrist to hurt) It works much better if you have a steam deck and play it there. But overall if you do want to play the game i would just go get it for free on your phone (there will be ads tho). i think to combat the issue of it not being good on computer they should make the buddys more easy to buy during early game. though just making the time limit a little longer would help too.
This game is addicting in the best possible way. Casual, colorful, funny, etc. It has everything one would want in a casual game. The only thing I can think of that could use a little bit of tweaking is the music. The music now is good, but I feel it could use just a little bit of variety. I play this game for hours at a time, and the one song goes on and on and on while I am making pizza and kind of gets to you after a while. If you are looking for something friendly and casual this is it.
Super chill, fun and nice storyline
UPDATE: I'm actually surprised that the developers listened to the community. Thankfully, they rolled back pretty much all the changes that killed the overall vibe of the game. New players will probably go into GPGP with a positive outlook and enjoy it without really knowing or even caring how frustrating the devs made things for long time players. Any games that get neglected for years and then suddenly have a bunch of random and practically unobtainable achievements added aren't ones that deserve a good review, lol. It's still hard for me to believe Tapblaze cares about this game and didn't just want to peacefully slink away from the backlash they got. Despite them fixing things, it would feel disingenuous to update my review to recommend GPGP, so I'm not going to. If I didn't still have a couple achievements to get to 100% it, I'd probably never touch this game again.
My opinion may be skewed because I'm an achievement hunter, but despite that, the developers have shown they do not give a fuck about the people who play this game. The achievements have been broken for YEARS. I actually put this game aside a few years ago because the achievements were broken!! Weird, right?? Cuz they still are! I decided to pick it up very recently, like, within the last couple of weeks and was so happy to see that most achievements were fixed, cool!
Most. Most of them were fixed. There was one (anyone who plays this game regularly will know which one I'm referring to) that didn't unlock despite finishing the story. I wasn't even too upset, honestly. I figured I'd just go back and play the fun, cute story again. And then a couple days ago I see the devs have added 200-ish new achievements?? LOL wat? Maybe fix your broke ass shit before adding a bunch of new achievements-- most of which aren't even realistic or feasible for the average player. Spend 10k in-game days playing??? That is straight up insane, even for the people who have been playing this for years now. What a joke. There are achievements about watching ads, which isn't even a thing on Steam LOL. There's a duplicate achievement about logging in for 15 consecutive days. Yeah, it's the same thing twice as two different achievements.
No thought was put into this recent update. The devs have never cared about this game and I suspect this is some way to promote their upcoming shitty reskin of this game except it being about coffee and not pizza.
Really hoping everyone review bombs the fuck out of this game, but even if my wish came true, I doubt these clowns at Tapblaze would even care, as long as they're making something off this garbage. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Easy days slingin' pizza. I only wish the helpers were a bit less expensive.
As of 5.21.0, most people (if not all) should have achievements synced. They have also lowered the amount of achievements back down to better align with the cozy vibe they provide, as well as making it easier for achievo hunters.
Adding 200 new achievements before fixing your bugged achievements has to be some sort of joke right? Expecting players to play for 10,000 in-game days (each day lasting around 10 minutes with daylight savings activated) is so terribly out of touch and doesn't fit the "cozy" vibes of the game. For perspective, I just reached day 1,000 with 200+ hours lol... For someone that enjoys collecting 100% achievements in the games that they play, this game has went from cute and cozy to frustrating and annoying. Outside of the achievement collecting, even the in-game event items take a very long time to unlock, considering the amount of funds that you need vs. the number of tips that you receive per day (for example, some customers only give you $2 in tips, when some event items need between $250 - $5,000).
As an achievement hunter, I have no problem investing time into fully completing games, however, another issue with this game is the fact that you're constantly flicking your wrist back and forth to place the toppings, the pizza into the oven, the pizza into the box, and then into the hands of the customer. This means that you can't play for long times without developing the concern for some serious wrist issues. If you don't care for steam achievements or your time being respected, then the game can certainly be "enjoyable". But if you do care for those things and are unable to ignore feeling pressured into getting all the limited time event items, then this game would not be for you, as you would feel easily overwhelmed by all the things that you have to do and the time investment that is required.
I wanted to like this game. I did like this game. But that changed over time with everything mentioned above.
Very fun game! The Devs listen to criticism and work together with the community :) <3
Thank you for the new Cozy achievements
If you don't care about achievements then ignore my review, it's a great game for cooking pizza. It's literally all you do. If you wanna cook pizza, buy this game. Go for it. Watch your wrist though. I almost got carpal tunnel.
But the achievements. Tsk Tsk Tsk.
They couldn't fix one broken achievement that has been broken since launch, so instead they added over 200 more achievements that are just as broken and wont count the progress of your prior saves. Many of which are just plain ridiculous like 500 days of logging into the game.
Despicable.
I highly recommend to void this game. This game kept crashing while I was trying to play. I tried both fullscreen and window mode, but both failed after completing one day. I do not recommend this game!
I have played this game for over a year now, and it's just charming and simple, particularly when I'm feeling overwhelmed.
It's simple - you run a pizzeria and earn money and reputation to keep it going. You can grow your ingredients, make pizzas for your customers, play through some story lines and special events, and collect decorations for your pizzeria, kitchen, garden, and the building your pizzeria is in.
I find it's a nice game to just relax and unwind for a while. I'd definitely recommend. It's much cheaper than therapy :)
The game itself isn't bad (just repetitive) but if a game isn't free there shouldn't be micro-transactions. In-game upgrades should be part of the game.
I wanted to enjoy this game but unfortunately there weren't any interesting decisions you get to make and the gameplay loop quickly becomes repetitive with little room to express any creativity. Just place the exact ingredients they want over and over until the day is done.
I was also shocked to see how frequently they presented microtransactions that you have to purchase with real money, as well as time-gated mechanics designed to keep you playing longer than you might actually want to. It feels very much like a mobile game designed to keep your attention for as long as possible or encourage you to spend money to speed up gameplay, and I was definitely not expecting to see that in a game I already paid for.
waiting for windowed mode resize/locked mouse to game fixes
Saw micro transactions which cost more than the game for skins. Gtf.
