Areia

Introduction
Imagine a world where you can control sand and water to do such things as create your own paths and shape your surroundings.
All of this in a universe that is always trying to repeat itself by the principles of the samsara wheel, the eternal cycle of life.
This is Areia, A journey of emotions in search of enlightenment.
History and character background story
Based on the holy persons from Hinduism, the sadhu. The character brings a lot of depth to the story resignedw all of his ambitions to live by his destiny fulfilling the samsara wheel of life.
As Areia borrow a lot from oriental spiritual culture, especially Hinduism and Buddhism the story unfolds by its premises as well. The game will be divided in emotional and spiritual stages of enlightenment where the player will be confronted with the aspects that are necessary to achieve full illumination.
The setting
The scenery of Areia is a composition of a Biome of coastal dunes with large patches of sand, water, cliffs and caverns each and every one of those will work together in order to exert a certain type of emotion to the player.
Sand Paths
The character in Areia has special powers that will make him able to transpose the challenges of the game, one of these powers is the ability to control sand to create new paths throughout the environment, to make this work the player will have to mix water with sand in order to keep the path strong enough to be able to lift him to longer distances.
The Boosted Jump
If the character is out of water and need to traverse a smaller distance he will be able to do so by using the power of controlling sand alone giving him a boosted jump that will give him a little bit of more leverage than the standard jump but a lot less than if he would infuse it with water.
Puzzle Solving
A lot of the areas of the game will be locked by puzzles that will need to be solved in order to progress through Areia. the puzzles are highly interactive with the environment, using color matching and positioning as it`s core fundamentals.
Shrines
Shrines will be used in order to improve and give the character abilities, improving the sense of progression with a more practical feedback to the player as he progresses through the game.
