Warning: Asset Flip!
HJ: Sacrifice is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers.
This is just another haunted house/prison/dungeon/whatever asset flip, I've been through this same prison in several games. The "developer" dumped on some 3d demon asset he stole/pirated from somewhere and is trying to claim credit for.
Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware.
This game has been translated from some other language into English... badly. If this was done through Google Translate, Google Translate should feel ashamed of itself. Regardless, the language in this game is broken and will put off a lot of gamers.
The game doesn't have any save game features, despite that being a basic standard for all games of this time. The developer might defend this as an attempt to make the game seem more "difficult" without them having to balance the game or do their job properly with engaging and challenging level design, but it's just as likely they simply couldn't work out how to make a save game feature work. Either way, that's a defect that adds another reason for gamers to avoid this game.
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
HJ: Sacrifice is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
absolute crapfest.
Another absolute dogshit unity asset game, this time however it has the worst lighting I have seen in any game ever so it has that going for it.
Oh and for some reason the achievements unlock after you close the game rather than in-game so that's strange.
nope
just nope
stay away
you better be shitting yourself with strong explosive diarrhea all over your apartment after some rotten KFC, licking every drop of it from the floor, and painfully shitting all over again than playing this one
To players: Well, considering all negative reviews, actually this is not a bad game, neither has it deserved so much negative ratings.
Why? First of all it is the first game of an indie group. You don’t need to investigate to know, it is obvious. If you are expecting to find something like Amnesia sorry but your disappointment will definitely be your fault, since it is not realistic. This game rather must be compared with other simple indies such as fingerbones, blameless, awkward dimensions and maybe medusa’s labyrinth.
The game is short and simple and actually for this type of game, it has very nice visuals, sounds effects hence good atmosphere that gives nice tension while playing. The light is a bit problem but it is still enjoyable and easy to play. It has far better visuals than fingerbones, and the design level of the monster is completely same with the minatour that is in medusa’s labyrinth.
If you like to support new starter, indie projects do not hesitate to buy this one, it is already very low priced.
@Developers: Dr. Cherubs nedir amk? Onu görünce maşşak mı geçiyorsunuz diye çok düşündüm. Dr. Nurtopu diye isimlendirseniz bu kadar batmaz. Yazın lan Hasan, Hüseyin. Hani ille yabancı isim olacaksa James diyin. Cherubs ne kardeşim…
Had to look up a walkthrough to find out how to finish the game. It was 4 minutes. Quality.
Small Indie Horror game. You must search for 5 panels (one is a team) to find your way out, but you get hunted by a demon that is very fast so you must try to hide and wait till he is gone. Really frightening if he is close and hard to find the right way, really confusing, but could be more since it not use every part of the stage (higher areas).
Graphics are fine for the money, light plays but you dont have the time to enjoy it
Only good for Achievement Hunters and Masochists that like short horror get hunted & killed. Buy with discount
this game could be agreat game, but sadly, in its current state, its not worth the 31 cents or so it costs on sale. we're not even told what out controls are, lighting is all over the placem jumping just makes a bad crouch, that goes away when the animation stops and we just clip through everything (as well as randomly climb things). the map is great, its all there, the mechanics just need improvement
Its terrible the monster gets stuck between doors, I cannot run away from it, only hide in a cell, the torch is useless and the english is pretty bad.
I do not recommend this game.
How Worthless can we make a flashlight: The Game!
Seriously, The flashlight is fucking useless, No Options menu, No Sound menu, No Controls, Flashlight randomly shuts up.
Have you ever wondered what it's like for a 6ft tall gargoil run through multiple walls to bend you over and grand slam that big ass pussy. Well this is the game for you. Not only does he not give a shit about your mortal physics he also doesnt use lube when he bends you over.
IGN 10/10
HJ: Sacrifice is a nice little first-person horror game. You are a human, kidnapped from a weird professor and need to flee from an old prison. He wants to see, if you can escape from this prison and the monster, which is there too. The game consist only of one small, but atmospheric level in which you need to find 5 switches to open doors. Every one opens a new little part of the prison. Finding the switches while avoiding the monster is the goal of the game, after finding the last door, the game ends very abruptly. Sadly, there are lots of glitches in the game, but nothing game breaking. The monster ai is very stupid, sometimes, you need to hide in a cell, but it will not go away. But i had fun, searching the switches and avoid the monster. First, it seems impossible, but if you know the behavior of the enemy, it gets easy. I finished the game in an hour and got all achievements. For the cheap price, i recommend the game. Btw., Lots of youtubers did not find the exit and thought, the game is broken. I made a walkthrough to clear this up and to help others to finish the game. It is in the guide section and the second video here. In the first video, i will only show one of my early plays, so i do not spoiler you.

HJ: Sacrifice from DAB Entertainment... whooboy, what a flaming pile of dung this release is. Since there's little to say about this developer or game, I'll cut straight to the chase. You play as an inmate who has been selected for sacrifice by "Professor Dr. Cherubs" because he wants to find immortality or something... I don't know, English is the second language of this developer and it shows. The only in-game hint to the story is a nonsensical, unskippable introduction that replays every single time you die. Oh, yeah, and this game is a survival rogue-like; I use the term "survival" very lightly.
So you're a prisoner. You run... sorry, you WALK around looking for a way to escape because there is no run button. Your ultimate goal is to hit 4 switches that open various doors that lead further to your escape, all the while dodging a giant imp-like demon that's not even remotely scary. You just keep walking on, but if he hits you a couple of times you die and it's back all the way to the beginning; this is to make the would-be-otherwise 10 minute fiasco last a little longer. The atmosphere isn't scary, either, and for some irritating reason the game goes almost pitch black every single time you pass through a doorway.
On top of not having a run button, you also do not have a crouch key and the jump button gives way to literally the worst jump in any video game I've ever played; an 80 year old could jump higher than the character in this game, I'm not exaggerating... it's about one or two inches off the ground; this character could not jump over two Legos stacked together. There's really no reason for the existence of HJ: Sacrifice, and therefore there's really no reason for you to play it. My mother always told me that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"... so I guess I'll say that the graphics are mediocre and the optimization is on par with industry standards, despite the lack of graphic options or even a menu.
Rating: 0.5/5.0 - Abysmal, avoid it like the plague.

What can i say, for a buck game, sure, it have a few interesting things, like the level, music, sound, the mechanics are simple, and the objective, very basic, you have to get out, and on that regard, it does it`s job.
Tbh, only worth it if you like the theme and accept it for what it is, simple buck game.
Best thing to do is not buy it in the first place.
Second best thing to do it hit the delete button if you own it already :)
I have had a lot of fun with games <$1 recently but sadly HJ Sacrifice is not one of them. This is a game that should be removed from Steam. I finished the game in :32 minutes and here is my experience:
1. The opening written montage/ preview is complete gibberish and is full of grammatical errors
2. The game begins where a demon explains you are given a 2nd chance, escape the prison.
3. I see the demon, which looks cool, and watch as he glitches through a door and then proceeds to walk back and forth. he's broken.
4. I explore the prison with the worst lighting i have seen in a modern game in, like, forever. The flashlight in particular is very dim and will just turn off in times.
5. The way to proceed is to find panels to interact which unlock doors. Directional sound is not actually bad.
6. Another annoying occurence is there is no hit detection/ enviromental awareness. As an example as you are walking, you will simply walk over guard rails, climb chairs, etc.
7. Found exit, unsuprising end.
This game feels like a school project and they should simply remove this from Steam. Its actually a good, though not original, premise but the execution is very, very, very bad.
Plot: You are trapped in a jail complex and have to escape out of it while you get chased by a demon.
This game would have potential i think. But it needs a lot of work:
-The lighting constantly changes according your position to walls (exhausting for the eyes).
-You can walk in almost every object (improper clipping).
-There seems no more objects (weapons, tools....) to find and use.
-Unclear what strategy is needed to avoid the demon (sprinting and hiding doesn't work).
Kindly made by you of need
This is the last sentence in the "intro" section of the game which consists of a text explaining the background story. Apparently, we are the guinea pigs of a scientist and since we are inmates the doctor got special approval so that he can sacrifice the prisoners of the institution. The experiment is simple: we are chased by a demon and our job is to escape.
Again, the above is literally taken from the intro text. I picked a random sentence since most have typographical errors. We are only talking about a handful of sentences so you can guess how much time was spent with doing some quality check after the "development" was over. As for development: due to the typos and awfulness of the rest of the game I have to assume that this is one of those "lovely" Unity-asset-turned-into-video-game examples. Since another language selection is possible I assume the developers are not native English so they quickly used Google Translate to have the English translation from their mother tongue done for the "intro".
But what is HJ Sacrifice really?
A mess. Nothing more, nothing less. We walk around looking for the exit. Occasionally a demon appears and runs towards us. The only thing we can do is to open cell doors and hide. Usually, the demon doesn't disappear so this option to hide is quite disappointing. Also, why are we unable to sprint? 3 hits and we are done. Back to main menu, hit play, watch the "cutscene" again, start over, rinse and repeat.
The demon's head often does some clipping as does our body when it comes to objects. Our protagonist constantly wants to climb over objects (desks, chairs, computer consoles, etc.). If he is unable to do so the clipping will suffice. At one point I managed to clip through the rusty objects in front of me to be able to find safe haven between 2 bunks. We have a flashlight but it usually works when we are close to walls i.e. the light appears only on them. Otherwise it is as if the light was constantly flickering.
Do not look behind you and run
Says the store page but running is not an option. In fact, the Unity start-up screen tells us we have "fire" as an action button along with jumping. Neither works - for the latter our character starts by making an effort then he quickly lands as if he hit his head. Several options are available for graphics (from the very low to ultra) but none of them show any difference.
Evade this game at any cost.
No..
....unless on sale for $.50.
Things that are going to irk you.
- Bad lighting.
- No sprint.
- Death and no skipping the intro with poorly written English.
Eh on the bright side.
Its short, and only 4 achievements. Praise the gaming gods cause if completionist wanted to do more its just maddening.
The game could be much better. It has potential you obviously have the mechanics down but the scares are lacking. Ambience and story could make this game way better in the scares department. the begining was probably the scariest part of the game. Also the flashlight is a bit annoying.
Heres a video to see me play and beat the game. It is a short game
