8.5/10. Overall A Great Game, However Story Wise It Doesn't Make Sense, Especially When It Comes To Continuation From The Previous 2 Games. Like How Does Nobody Not Know That Hansa Group Control The Radio Jammer Or That They Have Trains This Whole Time (20 Years BTW). Especially Someone Like Miller Who Lead The Legendary Spartan Group, The Best Army In The Whole METRO (Not The Biggest Army). What About The Reds And The Reich How Did They Not Know?. So Many Inconsistency. But Other Than That, Love The Game And The World.
It's a bit rough (freezes, 1 softlock and 2 crashes for me), but pretty fun.
Less linear than the first one, with some chapters on open maps, which I like.
"Metro Exodus" for me is more than just a game—it is an immersive experience that transports players into a vividly realized post-apocalyptic Russia. As a fan of the Metro franchise, I found "Metro Exodus" to be a masterpiece that excels in nearly every aspect: from its stunning level design to its breathtaking graphics and captivating sound design.
The levels are really well-designed. "Metro Exodus" mixes the tight, intense areas that the series is known for with larger, open areas that let you explore. Each location feels unique, whether it’s the snowy ruins of Moscow, the dry Caspian desert, or the green but dangerous Taiga forest. Exploring is always worth it because you can find resources, hidden stories, or just amazing views.
The sound in "Metro Exodus" is just as impressive. The wind, the creaks of old buildings, and the noises of mutated creatures make you feel like you’re really there. The music fits perfectly, making tense moments even scarier and quiet ones more emotional.
10/10 will revisit this franchise after a year or two.
The feel man... this is the best survival horror semi-open world game.. that driving at the end, to the end of the road. No enemy, no action, no obstacle, just pure feel. Im in tears..
its good but nothing like the first two the soul of it is a bit different some good in other ways not so much
God I am so grateful to the creators of this game, honestly when I bought this game I hadn't even heard of this game and actually had low expectations for the game itself, but god you made me weep. I sat there and roared in the final scene, I have never experienced such a range of emotions in any game.
I think the developers conveyed the atmosphere of the former USSR very well, while in each city the inhabitants have their own principles and views on life, and when I found and read old notes of people, every time my heart bled.
These people are real heroes, every member of this train. They are willing to do anything to fulfill their dreams and will always have each other's backs in times of need. I was very touched by one quote from the main character, it goes like this, “To live without Hope is to Cease to live”. Thank you for a wonderful adventure, Aurora, from now on, you are in my heart. I give it a 10/10 despite some bugs.
great, tight narrative, good singleplayer FPS. great atmosphere
Getting into this game it saddened me the game didn't take place in the metro, as I had loved Metro last light and wanted more of the lore about the metro. But it didn't matter because this game is still absolutely amazing! The story, gun play, scavenging, worldbuilding, is all amazing. The only other nitpick I have with Metro exodus is the STEALTH. The stealth in this game makes zero sense, all the enemies have eyesight comparable to naked mole rats, and cannot see me if i'm in the shadows a few feet away, the game also encourages stealth in most cases (especially to get the good ending), which is annoying because there were times i wanted to run around killing everyone like a badass like in the previous game. Still would recommend though.
This game is absolutely AWESOME. There is no doubt. The game and the world of Metro and Russia is immersive and well build. I don't have the words to describe how much i love this game and the Metro triology. I will buy the books to read the full story and I hope there is more in the books then the games are showing.
This is just insane and who says Metro games are toilet paper, they don't know what brain is.
Sadly I don't have a good PC to run them to good, Metro: Last Light gave me so much problems - it kept crashing my Windows, my computer, everything. I had to restart, restore the Windows, repair, plunging the USB with Windows to start up the repairs, over and over again so I can just play. THIS IS MY LOVE FOR METRO.
Metro Exodus was the fall of my Windows and PC: crashes after crashes, Windows blue screen, repair start up, USB recover, lag, screen crash, all my postcards and notes deleted, game file deleted, all my hard work and hours deleted. I kept playing, fixing my PC, restart after restart, fixing and fixing again. Now on New Eve i wanted to play and my PC said ,,nooooo" and crashed so, instead of having a Happy New Eve, i changed my Windows, installing drivers again, installing the game and see what is happening,
THIS IS MY LOVE FOR METRO, LONG LIVE THE METRO. IF NOT US, THEN WHO? IF NOT ME, THEN WHO?
I've spent hours looking for postcards and notes, i lost everything,
I've never been a big fan of story-heavy games—they usually bore me, and I lose interest. But this one struck the perfect balance, keeping me hooked all the way through. I even found myself staying up until 2 or 3 a.m. several nights in a row to finish it because I just couldn't put it down.
Great story, good graphics.
Especially from the weapons, I can customize them as I like, i recommend this game, really.
Great Game! A good closure to the series.
Played every metro game before this (Last Light on Epic) - this made the whole experience much more enjoyable as the metro world is really expansive and feels very real. The graphics and the semi-open world gameplay gives justice to the world 4A have created. DLCs were great too. But for me - it's the world building and the lore of the long lost metro tunnels. The D6 bunker, the hidden away maps, the crazy factions. They stole my heart and made me live a life I can only imagine.
The gun sound design tho <3
This game hits all the standard marks for first person shooters - visually appealing, fun combat options, interesting and diverse environments to explore. Metro Exodus' additional focus on a compelling narrative and excellent storytelling is what makes it stand out from the norm. Usually, I am eager to get onto the gameplay, however I find myself regularly standing around to enjoy the character interactions. From the natural & realistic dialogue to the excellent voice acting and motion capture - all of this combines to create a movie on top of the action. The work and passion from the devs shows in this excellent game and I highly recommend it.
Amazing game
Storytelling and the Alt History it takes place in is just amazing
The combat is also Very Realistic and the Grapichs are amazing 10\10
After almost 5 years the bug at the lighthouse still exists, my game got locked, the npc that was supposed to be with me was stuck so I had to load the entire chapter. After I loaded the entire chapter, I saw that 1 or 2 weapons that I had were gone, then I quit the game. Not to mention that the game can play in smooth 120 fps and sometimes goes down to 70, could've been a masterpiece if they actually cared about it... don't recommend
I heard that if you have the bug you should just quick save before going on the boat that leads you down and just try to load the game as many times as it takes until HOPEFULLY the NPC actually comes with you
Oh, yes... and it also had 1 entire year of Epic Games Exclusivity, which was bullshit
i cant get a refund and for some reason i cant run this game even tho i got a 2060 with 8gb usable ram
and i past the 2 hour mark trying everything i could to get this to run properly i gave up but now im stuck with it thanks steam the 2 hour limit is salt in the wounds for real

WOW.....that was a great time. The world building and story is fantastic. This is the exact style of game I love. It's cinematic, you feel like you are really apart of the story. Its just difficult enough to cause panic but not difficult enough to cause frustration. I am honestly blown away. The tiny details throughout the game are great. I loved it and definitely recommend to anyone who loves fps story games. I did find a couple of bugs but I was probably trying to get places I should not have been anyway so I can't really count those as problems with the game. I beat the game in 31 hours and although I did explore a lot I could not find all the collectibles. Kudos to the devs and everyone involved I look forward to future games and or more content. I do not really know why anyone would give a thumbs down.
The only real complaint I have is with the PC enhanced edition. I had nothing but issues trying to play that version, it was unplayable for me hopefully the devs can fix that for future players. I would say just stick with the standard version if you are thinking about buying.
The good:
- wife
- guns
- exploration
- new game+
- scavenging
- karma system
- manual save system
The bad:
- Crashing
- soft locking
- long cutscenes that cannot be skipped
- those stupid worms in the dead city chapter
- balancing is not perfect
- freezes your pc
Areas which are the dark are too dark that you can't even see. I don't suppose this game contains ghosts or is related to ghosts so there must be some level of visibility. Again I am high so don't know what I am writing but I would really like some mutton and some beer.

A nicely made game series based on a book! Radio with Кино songs <3 One of my favorite bands
Once again, a FPS with a flashlight, I'm sick of the flashlights...
Game is good but PLEASE stop those dark phases where you can't see anything.
Uninstalled
Gamers will love it. only negative is It is a first person perspective. Despite the neagtive it's a wonderful game
Truly one of the best stories I've come across in a game. It also does a wonderful job of combining open world levels with linear storytelling. At times it's sort of open world and other times it has linear path levels. I really like this game; the two colonels DLC hits hard.
TLDR: Incredible game in the franchise that builds off its ancestors with grace. Gritty gameplay and a fantastic narrative are complemented by some of the best visuals and sound design of our time.
Pros:
- Fantastic writing and story will keep you hooked the entire time. You'll love most of the characters.
- World-class graphics and presentation. This is ray-tracing at its best; coupled with beautiful environment/world design.
- Brutal combat gives players the option to be stealthy or go in guns blazing for MOST scenarios.
- Weapon mods are impactful and realistic.
- A lengthy campaign with mostly great DLC that'll keep you busy beyond your average singleplayer FPS
Cons:
- Some story/narrative segments can drag on a bit. A few pacing issues throughout the campaign.
- The morality system has been nerfed in its importance.
- The open-world segments could've been better designed. Too much time is spent travelling through empty areas and the vehicles handle like crap.
I like dis game, very nais. It similar to stalker. cinematic experience. i like shooting things.
This is one of the best game that i have ever played. The story are really interesting, it made me feels emotional. I want you to play this game, so that you feel the same thing that i do.
9 out of 10🤩🤩🤩
Ain't this game a beauty, even with the outdated textures, clumsy movements of characters due to technology and budget, this game just still manages to immerse me into it so well, maybe because of the camera movements, well placed everything in each scene, and the artstyle of the whole thing, the game is just beautiful, at the level that a lot of other games with better tech can't be
Metro Exodus is a masterpiece!
The best of the trilogy.
After finishing all 3 Metro titles, all of them were very good and strong games. All of them highly atmospheric and immersive masterpieces.
Exodus expanded on every aspect, from graphics to sound and etc, feels truly next gen. The weapon customization and maintenance is amazing, much deeper than in the previous games. Story is great and the morality system is better implemented. Very human stories and challenges! (no more "Dark Ones" nonsense)
We had 2 full games to explore all aspects of living in a Metro hell already. I am glad we moved to the rest of Russia, as re-hashing the Moscow Metro would become a bit stale at this point.
An open-world journey through very signature Russian locations that fleshes out the post-apocalyptic world but also teaches about Russia's culture.
1) The Volga's bleak swamps where Russia built their cities on top of, like Moscow or St. Petersburg. Also showcasing the famous Slavic villager lifestyle, uneducated and superstitious.
2) The Caspian sea but in the Kazakhstan area. Nice addition of Russia's closest neighbor. The hot desert steppe is unlike anything cold and irradiated like we have known so far. This zone is more akin to Mad Max.
3) Taiga's lush forests and old Russian fairy tale villages and churches. Pioneer camps and Russian bears.
4) And finally the Novosibirsk metro, reminiscent of the prequels but with all new mutants and blights.
Amazing story, hits right in the heart..
Regarding the Additional Missions:
"The Two Colonels" plays in Novosibirsk and explores the life in Metro while providing more story related to the final chapter of the campaign. Quite lengthy DLC, definitely worth it!
"Sam's Story" plays in Vladivostok and is 6+ hours long, pretty decent for a DLC. Our favorite American Sam goes on a solo adventure that is quite enjoyable. Worth it!
Only issues with bugs have been:
Game crashed in Caspian region, near Lighthouse. Known bug, had to tweak in settings with ray tracing, tessellation, etc - that fixed it. (check online for more details)
Encountered the annoying and unfixable "invisible body" bug, but thankfully in the endgame of Sam's Story, not during main campaign like some others. Devs please fix ffs, thx.
All 3 Metro games are worth playing, but if I have to chose then Exodus is my favorite. It was made in a way where you can enjoy it even without having played the prequels, but it is highly recommended that you do.
Perfect Trilogy. Loved it.
Definitely going to replay it over the years!
I highly recommend this game, it's an excellent game that gave me a huge amount of emotions! This is a game that can confidently be called a true work of art! The way you experience this journey with the characters, living through all the events they go through, is truly incredible. Yes, the game has its flaws and shortcomings: the stupidity of the AI, the silence of the main character, the emptiness of some locations, etc., but the amazing atmosphere, soundtrack, and the emotions the game evokes more than make up for these minor issues. For full immersion in the story and atmosphere, I recommend starting with Metro 2033 and Last Light
The dialogue and plot is farcical with no nuance or subtlety and so much cheesiness that it would give Doritos supreme cheese a run for its money, it's predictable and stale af because its chock full of tropes from other media, losing much of its original Metro vibe and "charm". Both possible endings are also unsatisfying and shallow af, which the average person might find barely enough, but leaves the sharper player rolling their eyes at the basic bitch endings.
Voice acting and character rigging is accordingly atrocious. Most of the voice acting sounds like the VA's are not getting paid enough and are either reading lifelessly or way overacting (especially with the forced Russian accent). For example, Miller (who is also a total drama queen and quite out of character compared to the previous games) yelling, celebrating or scolding you while his face looks basically deadpan is borderline hilarious because of how uncanny it looks. You also cannot skip most of the dialogue so yeah, enjoy suffering there.
Gun play and combat is extremely contrived and strange as the human shooting enemy bot AI move around sporadically according to the environment yet make no proper attempts to reposition themselves relative to you as if they're more concerned with moving around than actually shooting you and sometimes will literally just stand still and stare at you or even turn away between shooting even if you're in their face, making it 10x easier to just run and gun instead of fighting tactically. How the hell did Gearbox (Borderlands 1 and 2 for example) figure this out and do this properly a literal decade earlier but 4Ass is still confused here? Embarrassing. There's also a problem with the hitboxes which are inconsistent and can sometimes cause dead on shots to just straight up miss as the bullet whizzes through the enemy's head, fantastic. If you're not the violent type or you want the good ending (lame) you can also choose to sneak around instead and it's easy af but boring as hell and it basically becomes a waiting and skyrim crouch sneak simulator for most of the game.
Difficulty is also purely scaled through enemy damage and resource scarcity, making the game ridiculously easy at normal (you can basically tank a full mag and make health kits easily) or basically impossible at hard/hardcore (you die in like 2 shots and health kits are hard to get) with no in between.
The rest of the game is a chore simulator that has you crafting health kits, ammo and maintaining your weapons and most importantly, scavenging plot mcguffins, all of which becomes completely boring after the first 30 minutes but you have to keep doing it in order to advance the predictable plot.
Worst of all, the game has frequent fps drops where I will suddenly go from 100+ fps to like 14 for like 30 seconds. The game also FREQUENTLY CRASHES and locks up windows, especially during and after the second level. Literally search up "Metro Exodus crash" on google and you'll find countless people getting the same problem, which should not be happening for a game that has had so much time to fix its shit after launch.
In short, Metro Exodus is an overrated quantity over quality low-mid tier adventure shooter which has whack game mechanics that make it really not that fun and more of a chore to play. Either skip it or get it on sale because it is NOT worth its full price.
Don't mind the playtime shown—I own this game on GoG. If you buy it there, you truly own it.
Pros:
Good graphics
Open-world to semi-open-world design
Immersive atmosphere
Slavic post-apocalyptic setting
Silent protagonist enhances immersion
Non-lethal melee takedowns feel awesome
Strong English voice acting (especially Krest, Olga, Sam, and Anna)
Balanced stealth and action gameplay
Potential to inspire self-reflection and help players become better versions of themselves
Represents what real games should be about
Zero woke propaganda
Available on GoG
Cons:
The gray-white filter issue, which can partially be fixed by setting gamma to 3-10 and using the -deependark command-line argument
Lack of firing mode switch on ARs
No option to manually disable specific in-game prompts (e.g., hints in the upper-right corner when interacting with enemies)
Two instances of supportive character animations getting stuck during my playthrough
Occasional issues where melee takedown prompts failed to appear, making it impossible to execute takedowns
Denuvo DRM (later removed, but having this kind of rootkit in such a game is unacceptable)
I came across a review suggesting that the developers should remove the "Slavic theme" from the game. What an absurd statement. Doing so would strip the game of its soul. Metro Exodus is about a post-WW3 Slavic-Mongoloid territory, not some generic "woke" narrative (which I won’t even bother naming here).
Another review criticized the silent protagonist. Honestly, a silent main character is completely fine—it enhances immersion. In fact, I think the game would be even better if Artyom's voice wasn't used on the loading screens either. I haven’t seen any game execute a talking protagonist in a way that truly adds to the experience.
Then there's the complaint about needing to "stealth through the game and avoid killing to get the good ending." Seriously? If something is hostile, you deal with it—end of story. Just don't commit war crimes. There's a thing called a conscience, so use it.
Some players recommend switching the audio to Russian and keeping English subtitles. As someone who understands English, Ukrainian, and Russian, I can confidently say the English voice acting is superior overall, largely thanks to the actors (Sam and Anna being standout examples). The character face animations are already well-synced with the English dialogue, so there’s no issue there.
Conclusion:
If Half-Life 2 is a 10/10, then Metro Exodus deserves an 11/10 or higher. The developers got so much right with this game, and those elements should be preserved in future titles.
One of the greatest game from Ukrainian company. I can describe this game using only 1 simple word - excellent. I enjoyed playing this game on hard mod, the hardcore feeling of passing and more... loneliness?... It's a shame that I played this game on a bad ending, but I definitely recommend it to buy, for a better atmosphere, put a higher difficulty level
Finally managed to play the game about 5 years after the release and I can only say it's one of a kind. A worthy continuation of the Metro saga!
Recommend with both hands!
One of the best games I've ever played, everything is a 10, the story, gameplay, graphics, dialogues, characters, immersion, level design and variety of scenery.
I played Metro 2033 and Last Light right before this one, so I had all the events fresh in my mind and it felt like one big game, which resulted in me crying like a baby with that ending, which not many games have been able to do, 10/10.
do not spend any money on this game after so many years from release still full of bugs crash etc
even at this age its a buggy mess with poor translations and nonsensical plot.
this game has fatal crashes that I cannot get fixed. After googling for many hours, there seems to be no fixes that help this. i played (and thoroughly enjoyed) 13 hours of this game. But I cannot get the game to stop crashing.
I highly recommend this game, it is a true work of art, featuring an incredible story, intense gunfights, and realistic animation. Most importantly, the atmosphere is brilliantly depicted.
After beating the game on Hardcore, Ranger Hardcore, and New Game+ with Ironman modifier, I'm left with mixed feelings about Metro Exodus. Although it wasn't a strong negative, it still was mostly a negative experience for me. This game is a massive leap forward for the franchise in many ways. The game is much bigger and longer than its predecessors. But the game also stumbles in many areas and feels very tedious at times. I'll first start with the good.
Immersion, atmosphere, and story:
Like the other Metro games, Exodus places a large emphasis on immersion. But Exodus takes this to the next level. There are many opportunities for you to interact with other characters, learn their backstories, and make choices. The atmosphere is much more upbeat than other Metro games, which is fitting considering you don't really spend any time in the metro itself. The story also supports this with the theme of hope being front and center.
Much better morality system:
The morality system is completely overhauled. Although, it still isn't always clear at times, it does a much better job of signaling how to get a certain ending. You won't be getting any moral points for watching a woman shower this time. This makes getting the good or bad ending much more predictable and logical.
Good weapon customization:
The game lets you swap between any weapon you've found for free. You can add and remove attachments to make your guns more powerful or to suite a certain playstyle. The weapon cleaning system is certainly immersive, although it consumes to many resources so on Ranger Hardcore I never cleaned my guns and didn't have any issues making it kind of pointless.
These are very strong points for the game. But there are several nagging issues, some big and some small, that really hold the game back. These issues compound each other, turning what should be a few annoying sections or mechanics into bigger problems for the game.
Clash between linear and open world:
I'm not completely sold on Exodus' open world sections. The linearity of the first two games is a well known criticism and I assume the open world sections in Exodus exist to address that. But it doesn't, at least not completely. The game switches between three linear, highly scripted levels, two open world sections, and one that's a mix of both. But the open world sections don't fully commit to being open world. The game still expects you to tackle the objectives in a linear fashion. Often there is only one way to approach and complete a task in the open world. Most of the open world is boring wasteland with a few annoying ghouls or watchmen. So what's the point? It just makes running from one objective to another take even longer. The open world sections feel very static and nothing like the dynamic world of a game like Stalker. I wish the game had fully embraced the open world sections, but instead it feels like the worst of both worlds.
Horrible stealth system:
Stealth is pretty broken on Ranger Hardcore, and not in a good way. Enemies spot you through walls, can kill you through surfaces, hear you walking 2 floors above them, see you crouch walking through bushes, etc. In general enemies will sometimes get alerted for seemingly no reason and once alerted almost always know at least your general location if not exactly where you are. This makes stealth extremely tedious and unfun. During many sections in the game, I wouldn't even bother being sneaky. I found it was more effective to headglitch some cover and pick off enemies one at a time rather then try to kill them in stealth.
Prompts sometimes don't show up for melee:
Several times I would walk behind an enemy to knock them out, press the key, only to sit there and have them turn around and kill me. This further adds to the tedium of stealth.
Bullets don't always hit your target:
I'm unsure of the mechanics behind projectiles in this game. But something is just off with many of the weapons / scopes. I will aim directly at an enemies head and somehow miss. The 4x scope on the AK is zeroed wrong and bullets always shoot higher than they should. Enemies in cover often cannot be hit, even if they are exposed. You can spend a ton of time sneaking around, only to "miss" a point blank headshot, alert the enemies, and have to start all over. This on top of the scope glare and depth of field which makes aiming a pain in some lighting conditions.
Random annoying encounters:
As an example of this, at one point I found a "safehouse" in the Caspian level and slept until morning. The game spawned two enemies at the same location and one of them "heard a noise" as my character woke up. He then proceeded to spot and kill me faster than I could ADS.
Very long scripted sequences:
Instead of traditional cutscenes, the game keeps you in first person. This should add to the immersion of the game and in many cases it does. But the sheer amount of time you spend listening to other characters talk, completing scripted sequences, or otherwise not being able to do anything is staggering. It's pretty annoying to just sit there and watch your character complete some scripted sequence. Having no option to skip is an issue for repeat playthroughs. If you're "lucky" you'll get a quick time event and that's about it.
Horrible movement physics:
Your character seems to float when going up or down stairs and other elevated surfaces. It's like he's skating on ice anytime there's a little bit of an incline or decline. This can lead to you taking damage as falling 3 feet takes half your health and can even lead to your death on Ranger Hardcore.
Awkward dialog:
At several points in the game, a character would speak, then pause for a second or two with no one else talking before continuing. It's like they're waiting for your character to respond, but of course you're a mute so it just feels weird.
DLC:
The Two Colonels DLC is fine. Pretty short and completely linear but it adds extra context to the last part of the game. Sam's Story, however, is downright awful. For some reason the performance on my system was terrible and I struggled to get 60 FPS in many sections while having over 100 in the base game. It's also very sparse with the checkpoints it gives which means that, on Ranger Hardcore, when you die you'll be set back 15-30 minutes at times. You really don't have many options for fighting enemies, meaning you'll have to fight head on. This really sucks, as the enemies are very accurate and can oneshot you even through bushes when you can't see them. Getting set back to before a scripted sequence, and replaying it over and over is such a slog. By the way, enemies that "surrender" can unsurrender themselves and you'll have to kill them, but if you kill them while they are surrendering you'll get a negative moral point.
Conclusion:
Exodus' story and atmosphere is just as great as the previous games. It was awesome moving out of Moscow and exploring other places. But, for me the gameplay just wasn't very fun. I always had this nagging feeling of "I cant wait to get past this section" but there was no fun section to get to.
Metro Exodus is a masterpiece. Only the silence of the main character is a major problem. The game has breathtaking artistic direction and visual quality. The staging is exceptional, it allows one to drawn in abyss deep characters. It is tough to imagine a better adaptation for the novel of Glukhoovsky
not a fan of the “morality” system. make a shooter but punish the player for shooting the “they will still shoot you,but they really arent your enemies” npcs. the introductory writing up to first morality choice is abundantly random, and sometimes nonsensical with overexaggerated gesturing.
maybe the core components of the game are better here than in 2033, but seeing the gameplay restrictions if i dont play a specific way really sours it for me.
I saw a lot of positive reviews and maybe my expectations were too high... Maybe because I have played a lot of 1 st person shooters in my time, but I found the game predictable, nothing I have not seen before in many other games and many a time done better. Way too much dialog that you can not skip. A few glitches here and there (Which was not too bad but keep google open for fixes). I played it on Normal, maybe I should have gone a harder level, but I do not want to play it again to see if that makes it less boring. There are some good elements, some of the guns are good, controls are fine, landscape is ok, enemies are a bit predictable but ok... Just an average game, that you can play if you buy it for $10. But not recomended over all.
I love that this game has challenging combat for a post-apocalyptic scene. The combat is super fun with the different types of guns and enemies. Story is good, wish Anna would call Artyom something else other than his name every 5 minutes.
Amazing storyline. Would erease it from my memory just to play it and experience it all for the first time again.
One of my favorite game series, based on the novel by Glukhovsky, which I first encountered long ago with a pirated version of ‘Metro 2033’, and later played through multiple times every year. I highly recommend playing at least the first two parts; I don’t want to spoil any part of the plot, and this series truly stands out in the gaming industry and is worth the hours spent on it.
8.5/10. Good story, fun game mechanics. Press "G" to wipe gas mask.
A Masterpiece of Atmosphere and Storytelling
Metro Exodus is an exceptional first-person shooter that masterfully blends survival mechanics, exploration, and narrative into a deeply immersive experience. As the third entry in the Metro series, based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels, it boldly steps out of the claustrophobic tunnels of Moscow’s metro system and into the sprawling, post-apocalyptic Russian landscape. The result is a game that feels both ambitious and deeply personal.
Story and Atmosphere
The game picks up where Metro: Last Light left off, with Artyom seeking a new life above ground. The story takes you on a year-long journey across Russia aboard the Aurora, a creaky steam locomotive that becomes a home for your small band of survivors. Each character is well-developed, and the personal stakes are woven beautifully into the overarching narrative.
The shift to semi-open environments doesn’t dilute the series’ trademark atmosphere. From snowy wastelands to sun-scorched deserts and haunting swamps, every area is meticulously crafted, dripping with detail and lore. Dynamic weather and a day-night cycle enhance immersion, while the game’s emphasis on moral choices and human connection adds depth to the journey.
Gameplay
Metro Exodus strikes a perfect balance between intense firefights and slow-paced exploration. Ammunition and resources are scarce, pushing players to approach situations thoughtfully. The crafting system is simple yet effective, allowing you to customize weapons on the fly and prepare for challenges ahead.
The AI is smart and unforgiving, keeping every encounter tense. Whether you’re fending off mutant hordes or engaging in stealthy takedowns of hostile human factions, the game ensures you feel the weight of every decision. The survival mechanics, such as maintaining your gas mask and managing scarce resources, keep you constantly on edge.
Visuals and Sound
Visually, Metro Exodus is breathtaking. The environments are stunningly detailed, with lighting and particle effects that bring the world to life. Character models are expressive, and the game runs smoothly, even during action-packed moments.
The sound design is equally impressive. The haunting music, environmental sounds, and voice acting all contribute to the sense of being in a living, breathing world. The muffled crunch of snow underfoot and the distant growls of mutants make exploration as unsettling as it is thrilling.
Final Thoughts
Metro Exodus is a triumph in storytelling and atmosphere, delivering a post-apocalyptic adventure that feels fresh and emotionally resonant. It’s a game that rewards patience, exploration, and careful planning while telling a heartfelt story about hope and survival. Whether you’re a series veteran or a newcomer, this is a journey you don’t want to miss.
Rating: 9.5/10
A must-play for fans of story-driven games and post-apocalyptic settings.
