OVERVIEW

About the Game

Death Is Not an Escape.

Trapped forever in a realm of eldritch evil where even death is not an escape, four determined Survivors face a bloodthirsty Killer in a vicious game of nerve and wits. Pick a side and step into a world of tension and terror with horror gaming's best asymmetrical multiplayer.

Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey.

The Survivors' goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer - something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play.

Key Features

Survive Together… Or Not - Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish. Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone. Will you be able to outwit the Killer and escape their Killing Ground?

Where Am I? - Each level is procedurally generated, so you’ll never know what to expect. Random spawn points mean you will never feel safe as the world and its danger change every time you play.

A Feast for Killers - Dead by Daylight draws from all corners of the horror world. As a Killer you can play as anything from a powerful Slasher to terrifying paranormal entities. Familiarize yourself with your Killing Grounds and master each Killer’s unique power to be able to hunt, catch and sacrifice your victims.

Deeper and Deeper - Each Killer and Survivor has their own deep progression system and plenty of unlockables that can be customized to fit your own personal strategy. Experience, skills and understanding of the environment are key to being able to hunt or outwit the Killer.

Real People, Real Fear - The procedural levels and real human reactions to pure horror makes each game session an unexpected scenario. You will never be able to tell how it’s going to turn out. Ambience, music, and chilling environments combine into a terrifying experience. With enough time, you might even discover what’s hiding in the fog.

I'm writing this review not to criticise the game's mechanics or bugs, but rather to speak about the community. Sadly, my experience with it has reached a point where I can no longer recommend the game. Here's why:

Recently, I played a match as killer. I was up against a premade with both console and PC players. I’ll admit, I let my ego take over and played a sweaty match. In the end, I got a clean 4K, and not a single gen was completed. But I didn’t tunnel or camp. I played fair, took chases as they came, and didn’t give them much room to breathe.

After the game, I found out one of the survivors was a small Twitch streamer. So I thought I’d check her out, curious to see the match from her POV.

          What I found was disheartening...

The two PC players were in her live chat insulting her, saying she was terrible and shouldn't be streaming at all. But in truth, she and her friend (the other console player) actually performed better than the ones throwing insults. she gave me more of a chase, lasted longer, and were clearly putting effort into the match. But they treated her horribly.

I felt bad after that, so I followed her channel and joined the live chat. I let her know that I was the killer in that game and said sorry if I played a bit too hard. To my surprise, she was really friendly and thanked me for the match. She said she had fun, and you could tell she meant it. She had such a kind and cheerful vibe, and even though she lost, she stayed positive.

What really got to me was how she dealt with everything. Even while they were insulting her, she stayed calm, kind, and kept a positive attitude. She didn’t get angry or fight back. You could tell she was just trying to have fun and enjoy the game with her friend. She didn’t deserve to be treated like that at all.

It was honestly upsetting to see. She seemed like a young scouse girl, maybe 16 or 17 years old, just streaming for a bit of fun. She only had 39 followers and two people watching, and yet even in that small space, she was getting hate for no good reason. It felt really unfair, and it stuck with me.

I take full responsibility for playing a tough match. But I didn’t tunnel. I didn’t camp. I played as fairly as I could. What wasn’t fair was the way she was treated by those PC players.

I’ve been playing Dead by Daylight since it first came out. My Steam profile only shows 69 hours, but I’ve spent a lot more time on console. Over the years, I’ve seen both the good and bad sides of the community. There have been some really nice, positive moments. But there have also been times like this, where someone kind ends up getting hurt for no real reason.

If you’re going to play, it’s best to team up with friends. But if you’re playing alone, just be careful out there.

          Hi there~

I just absolutely love this game! The characters models are beautiful.❤️ Maybe it's not 100% balanced, but to be honest. What game is really?

Although this new killer right now is broken as hell. He drives me bonkers!😂 Laughing but really serious. Some of the maps could use a few more windows and or pallets.

The hit box feels a little scratchy.😅 It's okay though, it's not the worst. The best thing though, that makes this game really fun is friends! Also killers with a sense of humor and not have to go beast mode. RIP us survivors~. But nonetheless, I want to thank anyone who still makes this game a treat.❤️

So... in the last two years, I have spent nearly 900 hours in Dead by Daylight. That's 37 days of my life. Several full Netflix series binges. A small vacation. Time I could have spent learning another language, mastering an instrument or re-learning the violin, or even developing meaningful human relationships. Instead, I chose to run in circles around pallets while being tunneled by 14-year-olds.

Why? Because I stream, and apparently, some people in my chat would like to see me suffer. This game is like a toxic ex. You know it's bad for you. Your friends tell you it's bad for you. But then the matchmaking ends, and suddenly you're back in the fog, crouching inside a bush while a Huntress moonwalks past me, like the ghost of Michael Jackson possessing a lag switch.

Fantastic idea to add Ken, by the way. Being bitten through walls is brilliant! He really likes the crunch of it all. The amount of times I run into bugs has definitely decreased over these past two years, too. I'm never randomly unable to use one of my perks or stuck in one animation for no reason whatsoever (that's sarcasm). Once, a hacker floated away with me like on a hot air balloon. I guess that counts as exciting and new.

I also love getting toxic messages in the endgame chat, especially in a language I, and many others, don't speak. Get everyone as a killer? Tryhard. Get looped? GG ez. Teammate doesn't unhook you? That's just your average Feng. Just a few days ago, my teammate left me at the altar and got replaced by a bot, who then promptly decided to teabag in front of me and run off without healing me. I think they've done a pretty good job so far in recreating the average DBD player.

And yet, here I am, playing this game with my trusty +1 that got me into this mess in the first place. At least he makes up for his sins by dying on hook for me. And sometimes, just sometimes, we even get a cool match, where Wesker stays with me in bed in Ormond, or we gather by the fireplace and do a little dance to appease the entity. Or survivors don't try to flashbang me every five seconds.

          Would I recommend this game?
          No.
Will I play another 100 hours?
          Yes.
          Do I need help?
          Please.

Thanks for coming this far. You'll see me in the queue in 7 minutes.

Its 4am at night and I need to get this thing of my chest. I don't usually write books in my reviews but bare with me for a moment.

I've played so many games with some of most toxic most hated most degenerate people in the so called "Gaming Universe". We know that 100% of competitive games will have built-in mechanics to make people feel emotional at times. In this case it's me playing the nurse.

I also want to mention that the newly released "Ghoul" is not on nurse's lvl. However I do think he is more beginner friendly and stronger than the rest of the killers. Moving on.

As a p20 myers main that has quickly learned to how play the strongest killer in the game, it is verbally impossible to get away from having insults thrown at you after every post-game lobby as the nurse. Truth be told not everyone can pilot her correctly, having said that, she is still the strongest and always will be.

I started playing her 24/7 since the start of the newly released "Blood Moon" event. Which btw is still better than the regular dbd gamemode, how do you people keep playing that all the time? w.e

The purpose of me busting out the nurse every game is to make sure I speedrun my way to prestige 1 on all of my characters. By "speedrunning" I DO NOT mean tunneling. Like it or not I am always playing for 4 kills. Having said that if you blind me 3 times in a row, then I have an excuse. ALSO why are we making up words to sh*t on killers? "restarted slugger" "cringe slugging tw*t". Is a killer supposed to ignore the two flashlight holding survivors (with sprint burst) that are waiting for you to pick up the downed survivor, instead of going for them directly? Like what are we even doing? Yeah let me just pretend you're not there, lol.

Enough yapping from my side. Why am I even typing this in the first place? To tell you that these people not only privately insult me on my only social media platform, they also find out who my family members are and harass them too. Like how terrible of a person do you have to be?

Will happily stay away from this community for a while. Game itself as a killer is fine, solo queue as a survivor is mental torture. 4/10

This game is horribly balanced due to the incompetent developers not knowing how to design fair gameplay. Kaneki is the latest example of this trend. They give him an overloaded kit that makes near impossible to outrun: 2 leaps that cover insane distance, a point-click hit-scan move that can hit through WALLS and OBJECTS and empowers you to get EVEN MORE mobility. I thought Blight was bad, but this new killer is even worse. At least with killers with high mobility like wesker, you can attempt to outplay by dodging his dash, but since BEhavior decided to give Ghoul an overloaded kit that deludes his playerbase into thinking they're good at the game. I'm just waiting till BEhavior nerfs this garbage and the Ghoul mains realize they are not good at the game and will drop Kaneki the moment more than 2 brain cells will be required to pilot him.

Dead by Daylight is a textbook example of how to ruin a game with massive potential by leaning fully into FOMO-driven monetization. Everything revolves around time-limited events, battle passes, and endless cosmetics. You’re constantly pushed to log in “right now” or risk missing out — and the devs know it. Fixing bugs? Balancing perks? Improving matchmaking? Nah. Better to drop another skin.

And that matchmaking? Pure chaos. As killer, you often get thrown against full SWF sweat squads while you're running beginner perks. Playing survivor? Either you get a coordinated team — or three randoms who think the game is a bunny skin fashion show.

The community is unbelievably toxic. Play killer fairly? You'll get teabagged at every pallet. Play seriously? Suddenly you’re a “dirty camper” and you’ve got hate messages in your inbox like you just committed a war crime. And solo queue as survivor? Actual hell. Half your teammates can’t hit skill checks if their life depended on it, crouch in corners the whole match, and ignore hook rescues because they’re too busy looting chests. No communication, no coordination — and if you somehow manage to survive, you’ll still get blamed in endgame chat for “not helping the team.” You just can’t win, no matter who you play.

Dead by Daylight isn’t a horror game — it’s a stress simulator with a horror skin. And as long as monetization is prioritized over actual gameplay quality, nothing’s going to change.
Recommended only for masochists and those who enjoy being constantly disappointed.

An absolutely godawful, unbalanced mess that gets worse with each update and added killers. The game blatantly favors the killer by buffing all of their perks while nerfing all of the survivors perks. Though the worst part by is that there is absolutely no punishment for exclusively going after one survivor while deliberately ignoring the others (Tunneling). The player base on both the survivor and killer side are completely toxic and generally unpleasant.

Even if these issues are at some point fixed i still wouldn't recommend this game as the developers would probably find a different way to ruin it.

Dead by Daylight is an absolute disaster. The matchmaking is a joke, putting you in games with people who are way better or worse than you, making everything feel unfair. The servers are trash constant lag, crashes, and disconnects make the game nearly unplayable. The devs only care about adding overpriced skins instead of fixing the broken perks, bugs, and major balance issues that make the game frustrating. The community is toxic, and the devs don’t seem to do anything about it. The game is a mess, and it’s clear they don’t give a damn about improving it.

I never write reviews but tf is this new killer, im a fan of tokyo ghoul myself but this game make me hate kaneki, i dont wanna see him anymore. Every game i play against some anime freak that play as him is just a tunneling/camping machine. I'm a killer main myself (ghosty) but i prefer to make a day for other survivors and it makes my day too. Of course i have matches that i play normally but i dont camp like a pussycat or tunnel like im in a scoobydoo show. If player wants to have a chill game, i give them a chill game, if not i play normally, thats it. Why being so serious about it. Everyone that cry because they didnt get 4k EVERY match just need to touch some grass and maybe find friends or just go pet a cat, find some happiness in your life. Dont be a sweaty annoying ass that nobody likes man.
To surviors: Can you please stop flashing me? I cant see im legally blind when i break the pallet all the time. I love standing still and see jesus in front of my eyes :D
Love all the funny survivors out there, you guys are the ones i play for, have a nice day.

Dead by Daylight is a perfect example of why Steam should allow refunds for certain games regardless of playtime. The game has an incredibly toxic community, an overwhelming amount of additional content that gets deliberately cut over time to push players into buying new DLCs. The original style and charm of the game have long since died, turning into a janky Fortnite with gore. The sheer number of ridiculous new characters from collaborations makes you facepalm at the developers' creative impotence.

I enjoy playing this game and I'm satisfied with the huge variety of skins of survivors and killers The graphics are awesome and provide smooth gameplay throughout the game and I could easily say that it is successful in reflecting the atmosphere. But there isn't anything new in terms of gameplay. Instead, errors are getting frequent; the new killer Kaneki, is way too powerful to hunt survivors. Even the worst Kaneki player could kill a survivor easily. There should be some kind of disadvantage. He is able to go faster using his kagune and that's ok, but its' frequency/waiting time should be longer since survivors already can't run as fast as killers (yeah, without kagune) and he could bite survivors easily and that's also ok, but he shouldn't be able to bite from that far...Besides this certain killer, recently added latest survivors are also a bit problematic: Their perks are way too useless to make them worth buying. If you want players to buy some kind of new survivor, at least make their perks worth buying. Not just their physical and skin look. (I have nothing to say about their physical look and their skin, they look sickly awesome) Other than that, please don't misunderstand. I really enjoy playing this game with my friends but the base game itself is still open for development and there are lots of stuff to fix.

Dead By Daylight can be extremely fun if you are like me and understand that it's only a Video Game. It has a great dark and spooky atmosphere that some Killers completely excel at in giving you a heart attack jumpscare. (Unless you use ReShade, then you are completely killing the point of the game)

-There are plenty of Perks between both Killer and Survivor to give you different playstyles throughout each match and the back and forth between Killer and Survivor shenanigans can be hilariously fun and exhilarating at times.

-Nothing is really pay to win, as every perk can be obtained through the Shrine of Secrets for Iridescent Shards that you earn by simply playing the game. The only thing you will not get unless it becomes available for Iridescent Shards is certain Survivor Skins or Killers who have their own Abilities/Add-Ons. To some that feels pay to win, but for what you are offered already it's something that can be seen side-grades as none of those Killers are basically guaranteed a win every single time. It all comes down to the Players and how that match goes.

-The Battlepass is one of my dreams. You pay once, then you have ample time to casually earn lots of neat Cosmetics and enough Auric Cells by the end of it to buy the next Battlepass once it is released. More Dev/Marketing Teams can learn a thing or two from this.

-The only real negatives about this Game come specifically from the Community. There is a lot of negativity and toxic behavior in this community, but those people are easy to brush off.

Overall, I'd say Dead By Daylight is a solid 8/10. I'd love to see licensing for more iconic Killers and Survivors to see how the Devs get them to work in-game, more maps for a bit more diversity, and possibly some new Items.

Oh and BHVR.. you already have Nicolas Cage, so why do FNAF when you can do the best one of all time? Willy's Wonderland!!

Like people who tune in just to 4k slug and wait until everyone bleeds out are just abused manchilds who have zero enjoyment in their lifes except doing this in a 10 year old videogame enough said. Take your 4k and shove it up wherever it gives you pleasure:D

Also a quick shout out to the swf squads with their little eyrie and garden map offerings , flashlights , second chance perk combos like the fact that everyone in the squad have at least 3k hours in this game and you cant play anything else just these braindead maps with broken perk combos and infinite loops is hilarious :D. Take your stupid offerings your items your braindead perks take it all roll them up into a ball , turn that sum bitch sideways and stick it straight up your candy ass.

Over 2k hours, and for all the fun I have previously had in this game, I'm over the completely unfun gameplay- as either survivor or killer. The devs absolutely ruined this game the moment they decided to announce that "the only way to win is escaping as a survivor, or a 4k for a killer". That was the end of the fun. The end of killers who REGULARLY gave hatch to the last survivor. Survivors who didn't feel the need to be so immersive that it is boring as killer. I play both sides, killer more often lately, but both sides now suck.

Bhvr wants to walk this line of "it's a party game! Look at these fun events!!" with "only super sweaty comp plays will guarantee you have fun because only winning is fun!" They want to be everything to everyone, and it doesn't work. The "fun party game" events get ruined within a day (or less!) by people acting like they still need a 4K or can't interact with the killer at all. Chaos shuffle, which I loved in its first iteration, now is only either survivors bringing all the best items and add ons and teabagging at every pallet, or killers who camp, tunnel, and slug when 5 gens are still up.

          Bhvr, you ruined this game.

Dead by Daylight is a wonderful game, just not for beginners. It is one of the worst multiplayer games to pick up and play due to the sheer amount of knowledge required just to get started, and the lack of a competent tutorial does NOT help. However, if one is willing to suffer for a few hundred hours to get to an average skill level, Dead by Daylight can be one of the most fun and in depth multiplayer games out there. The infinite techs and nuances surrounding each and every killer allow for thousands of hours of niche mechanical and strategic development that very few games can offer. After accruing nearly 2k hours across both Steam and Console, I often still find myself learning new things about the game, and even the killer that I specialize in, and have put hundreds of hours into mastering. Overall, Dead by Daylight is a great game for someone that is seeking a (VERY) challenging but rewarding experience.

Dead by Daylight is often criticized for its poor balance between survivors and killers, leading to frustratingly unfair matches. The game's grindy progression system and repetitive gameplay can cause burnout for players. Additionally, frequent bugs, a toxic community, and intrusive microtransactions contribute to why some consider it one of the worst games of all time.

It's very unfriendly towards new players as a lot of the perks are locked behind characters you either have to grind a long time for or spend money on (which you still have to grind a bit to get to use the perks). You get the hang of the game pretty quick and learn pretty fast. It's a very simple game but has a lot of things to learn and understand about. The most infuriating thing is the constant random disconnects you'll get once or twice a day and on top of that, the game will punish you for it and give you a matchmaking penalty.

This is also by far one of the most toxic gaming communities I have ever joined and just a few matches in you can already see what I'm talking about. From subtle cheaters, tea baggers, bully squads. tunnelers, face campers, noed gamers, toxic survivors/killers, it can be very mentally draining at times.

That being said, this game is really really fun with friends but a lot of time it gives quite an unfair advantage against the killer. Like when you play killer, you will get sweaty SWFs or bully squads but when you play survivor you get p100 killers who know every loop and running 4 gen degress perks. The meta is very stale and boring and pretty much everyone runs the same 25 perks with no variety and every match seems to be the same.

Despite being the only actual game in its genre that has an actual player base, it's still missing quite a lot of normal quality of life that would be common sense in other games such as match history, replays, and a progression system that doesn't rely on some gimmicky skill tree where it might take you hours before you finally get the perk you want to tier 3. Just small things like that would make DBD more engaging.

          also bring back 2v8.

This game is the bane of my existence. I'm watching it slowly become Fortnite but horror. The adrenaline of new things and the fear of the unknown make it a nice experience till you start to see the MetaMatrix. Then all joy is sucked clean out by people who value number being big over a fun experience. Fun matches are then few and far between and I am left desperately searching for them like an oasis in the desert. You begin to understands how Sisyphus must feel, toiling away again and again. You begin to understand the Entity's ploy, the hopelessness, so you make little games to keep yourself sane. You keep moving the finishing line further back with each success. Unlock all the perks on survival and killer? Prestige them all to 3 now. Complete every tome challenge as you do this to maintain sanity. The end will never be in sight. More dlc will come. The cycle begins anew, albeit smaller. You will never escape once it takes root.

10/10 you get a Ghostface or Michael who's really good at larping and you'll feel like the Final Girl in a horror movie

I can remember when Dead by Daylight used to reward skill and strategy. But those days have long since left us because the developers have ruined it by constantly catering to the loudest complainers instead of preserving what made the game fun. Survivors have been repeatedly nerfed while Killers get crutches that make playing them easier. All that's done is remove the need for actual skill. And if players enjoy a mechanic, the devs either weaken it or remove it entirely. Balancing isn’t based on data but on complaints, which makes the game more frustrating for those who actually understand and enjoy its mechanics.

The game’s philosophy seems to be: "What do players enjoy? Let's get rid of that." Loved looping? Let’s make maps smaller and reduce strong loops. Enjoy strategic gameplay? Let's make matches more one-sided. Unique perks and builds? Nerfed into oblivion.

At this point, DbD feels like a game designed for people who don’t want to improve-they just want to win without effort. Survivors suffer, matches feel one-sided, and creativity in gameplay is being stripped away with every update. The devs have made it clear that they’d rather appease bad players than preserve what made the game fun. The devs have lost touch with their community, and unless they change course, the game will continue to lose what made it special. And players, aka, money.

And now, cue the Jester Community Awards, brought to you by the same crybabies who endlessly whined about the game and are the reason we keep getting these ridiculous changes to a once enjoyable game.

As frustrating as this game can be, I still love it and will play until the servers go offline. Playing survivor with friends is some of the most fun co-op I have ever experienced. Killer is also incredibly fun with a ton to learn and master. Considering the massive amount of perks/killer in the game these days, there is a play style for everyone. The devs. have been doing a lot better recently in terms of communication/listening to feedback, and with the Five Night's At Freddy's chapter just around the corner, the future looks very bright for Dead By Daylight. I think they've done a pretty good job so far.

and I can say this without dubt this game is Pay to Win if you got money then you can buy every killer and survivor with that you'd be strong enough to win the game

and also I'd like to add this, Survivors are so weak compare to Killers and I'm a survivor player usually and that's not good for me even you build a good item with a good character still if killer has good items and character killer would be kill you

so this is why I don't play and like this game I hope one day I will see you as a balanced game you are the still has the most player online horor game.

Played over 700 hours so far. It can be fun at times with the events because there are more casuals and an even playing ground with perks. The matchmaking in this game is absolutely awful. I play casually and get paired with the sweatiest of survivors/killers. There needs to be a separate queue for ranked and casuals. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this right now to new players because it is so unbalanced and everyone is toxic. The quality of life changes that are coming aren't that great. This game is only surviving because there aren't any other horror games like this except IDV. If this game had competition, it would go under really fast.

Not for new players. Most of the community are sweats and love to grief new players. Match making is busted and will put new ranking players against experienced players, and if you leave the match early the devs punish you with a wait time. And on top of that they make you pay with micro transactions for better killers, it's pay to win. I regret ever purchasing this game.

Developers keep making changes to worsen killer abilities and controls in order to force them to be useless. Constantly giving in to survivor requests and don't fairly adjust survivor exploits in the game. I've completed achievements for every killer and many of the survivors. The refusal to make changes to make the game more fair and less toxic is leading me to believe this game is headed for the trash heap. Using 3rd party programs to help groups of people gain advantages in the game is not only tolerated but encouraged. Want to have fun playing the game? Don't ever play killer, but dont be surprised when a killer is overly toxic to you.

This game is not worth playing.

I cannot advocate more against playing this game than anything I have ever played. Dead by Daylight is likely one of the worst multiplayer games to try to pick up and play in modern gaming due to the sheer amount of complexity that is involved in learning this game. I have accumulated 1600+ hours over around a year and a half, and I can confidently say that I have a firm grasp of this game and its various mechanics, perks, killers, and techs. There is some fun to be had in this game for sure, but some fun is all you will get as it will quickly sour and turn into one of the most frustrating games you will ever play. Both sides of this asymmetrical game are extremely infuriating due to how terrible the DBD community has become and due to how incompetent Behaviour Interactive is at maintaining their biggest game with no competition.

How it feels to play killer

While playing killer, you will feel powerless and survivors will often have perks builds that intentionally torture you the entire match. A group of survivors queued together is a very common reason your matches as killer will be so insufferable due to the match becoming almost impossible to win if the survivors are good enough. Personally, I do enjoy going against high skill survivors and trying my best to outsmart them and use my own personal skill to win the match, but more than likely you will not win against these kinds of players. This makes playing killer feel almost hopeless at times because you just can’t catch a single break as you lose match after match. Trying to play fair will often result in you losing so you will almost be forced into using meta perks and “toxic” gameplay to enjoy any of your matches. As a killer player, you will have to be aware of the “Survivor Rulebook” where you prioritize their fun over your own. If you want to win the match as a killer it’s “toxic” or try-harding but when survivors want to win it’s fair for them to use every means necessary. It’s a very hard balance to maintain as you want to enjoy your match but also want to make the match fun for the survivors as I think it’s important to remember that the survivors are people who are playing the game just the same as you are. Killer gameplay can be very rewarding and satisfying at times, yet it ends up getting more and more stressful as you get less and less gameplay when you prioritize fun over winning because generators will get finished very quickly without constant babysitting.

How it feels to play survivor

While playing survivor, you will come across many toxic killers that make the game absolute hell for your team. This can be fixed by queuing with friends and working together to skew the match heavily in your favor as this game becomes extremely survivor sided once there is direct communication between the survivors. There are also many perks that can drastically improve your chances at winning as a survivor. Some of these perks have been practically unchanged from their initial release such as Dead Hard being a meta perk since it was released back in 2017 and maintaining its place as one of the best perks in the game till the modern day. This makes survivor gameplay pretty stale because you have to use perks that give you as much advantage to try and survive against killers using meta perks as well. Playing survivor can end up feeling quite good after a while, but your general experience will end up being unpleasant due to the large amount of killers and perks you have to learn to play around.

          Items, Add-ons, Map Offerings

Both sides fall into this meta hell of using the best things the game allows you to use so that your matches feel less frustrating and left up to chance. Adding any sort of variety to the perks you pick increases the risk of you having no fun in your matches significantly. There are also plenty of items for survivors and killer add-ons to use as well to increase your chances of winning. These can feel necessary sometimes because of how good survivor items can be and how bad your killer's basekit can be without certain add-ons. There are also map offerings which will end up being used in many of your matches because certain maps in this game give an extreme advantage to one side or the other according to their perks or their killer. This is one of the worst parts of the game because you essentially lose the match before it even starts. They are addressing this issue, but it’s much too late.

          Personal Experience/Rant

My personal experience with this game has been easily negative as it has been one of the most unfun, stressful, and anxiety filling games I have ever played. Despite my utter hate for this game, I kept playing it somehow. There’s something severely addicting about this game where it feels like you spin a slot machine to try and have fun in each match. I typically prefer playing killer because survivor solo queue is extremely unfun/inconsistent (also cause Wesker is very fun), yet I have around equal time playing killer and survivor. Even when I win a match as a killer, it feels like I haven’t won because of how unfun and stressful the typical match can end up being or it was so easy to win that it feels unsatisfying. I typically don’t even expect to win my survivor matches because I feel like when you pick survivor you shouldn’t expect to survive. The entire lore of DBD is that the survivors are supposed to be under-powered and tortured by the entity, but they end up being the ones dictating the flow of the match the higher elo you get. It feels as if the main goal of this game has become solely to win rather than enjoy the match on your own terms and that is obvious the more you play against better players. Many DBD players are chronically online and end up being some of the worst people you can interact with as they cannot take a single bit of criticism or negativity without it becoming a personal attack on them. There’s certainly some good cookies out there, but if you play this game enough you will end up playing against or with these entitled DBD addicts. They take the game much too seriously and ruin the experience for others. There’s also the competitive scene of this game which I think is a joke (no offense to the people who partake in it). DBD has to be one of the most competitively unviable games I have ever played and the majority of the games I have the most time in have been competitive games. It’s extremely unbalanced and even when played at the highest level it has to have so many rules to make it viable as a competitive game. There is also the issue of Behaviour Interactive being some of the worst developers for an extremely popular game that is constantly getting bigger and bigger media licenses for their game that they seemingly cannot fix. It feels as if there is another game breaking issue every other update or even more frequently than that. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend game development is easy, but I’m not going to let Behaviour try to convince people that the bugs and glitches they allow in the game aren’t a problem. They’ve also removed certain features of killers that had increased the skill ceiling of those killers such as Blight Hugtech being removed. This gives the implication of other skillful mechanics that weren’t intended being removed like Wesker Hugtech or Hillbilly/Oni 180 Flicks which slowly makes the game even less fun for skillful play. Wesker Hugtechs and his general gameplay have been the main reason I stuck around this game. I’m around my limit of playing this game consistently because it just isn’t fun anymore. I have no incentive to continue improving past the point I have reached because the game just isn’t worth it.

          I regret playing this game.
