It's definitely one of those games that makes you so mad sometimes, but you absolutely love it. Would definitely recommend!

Game overall has a great concept and love the mechanics in the game, but is seriously unbalanced. New players do not have a chance to learn the game properly without getting chain killed because the killer has some unbalanced perks. They know where you are, can't be blinded by flashlights 90% of the time, always run faster than survivors and their hitreg is out of this world. They are able to kill you when you are around corners, through objects and from 3 miles away. Until they seriously balance this game properly, I won't ever have fun in here.

KILLERS ARE OP AS FUCK. If you have no friends I could see this game being fun, but if youre trying to play with friends its just not fun survivors is horrible they nerfed all the good perks. So basically buff the survivors cause this game went to shit.

Do you enjoy a game that is well balanced? Do you like mechanics to make sense? Do you like developers that listens to the community effectively? If you answer yes to any of those questions, then this game isn't for you.

You will get tunnelled, and slugged. Those are effective methods for kills. And as a survivor you just gotta sit there and wait. It's not fun. It's not scary fun. It's tedious.
The devs like to over-correct, i.e. over-buff or over-nerf perks. Implemented ineffective ways to stop survivors being camped. Unable to deal with rampant bots. Overall, you'll get a very frustrating game.
Geniunely, I used to think Gaijin Entertainment and Wargaming were bad, but Behaviour put those two to shame at being poopy.

Why do I have such high play time? My gf plays it and it's one of the few games we can play together.

Dead by Daylight is a mixed bag for me. It’s the best in the survivor vs. killer genre, but it’s held back by several issues. First, it’s very new-player unfriendly. Bringing in new players is tough, especially during events where matchmaking pairs them with veterans focused solely on farming blood shards or event quests, leaving newcomers confused by strange behaviors like survivors teaming up with the killer. This short-term grind hurts the long-term enjoyment and longevity of the game. If you’re playing this way, you might be more hooked on the dopamine of shiny rewards than the game itself.

I think a 'new player mode,' similar to R6 Siege, would help ease the learning curve, but I also understand fragmenting an already small player base is tricky. On top of that, the game’s engine limitations (like the 60 FPS cap) and the inevitable bugs and breakages with every DLC update shouldn't be something to be expected in 2024. Despite these flaws, the guest killers from other franchises are well-made, and it’s fun having a 'horror super smash' crossover experience in a game.

Whenever I do come back to the game and have that standard dbd bad experience- I get happy knowing that I just don't care as much as I once did.
If you are constantly getting frustrated with a game and always leave it feeling angry, no one is forcing you to play it and don't try to chase that dopamine rush of doing some crazy play.

You will get to a point where playing as a survivor is "damn it's this killer". You don't realize it, but you slowly start saying that about every single killer in the game. DbD becomes a literal chore to play after a point, since you are either repairing gens or actually running from the killer which is the real gameplay loop of the game.

Playing killer is just stressful. I had times where I could play killer all day, but as the game gets more and more complicated with perks and mechanics, it feels like you are constantly asking yourself "Are they cheating? Are they running this perk? How did they even do that? Do i hit them, or do I wait because they COULD have this perk? ect ect." I loved playing killer, but everytime I play it now I need to take a break after a few games because it seriously is stressful. Couple that with the annoying ass survivors teabagging everytime you miss or when they drop a pallet, and it legit gets hard to play. Don't even get me started on the post game chats.

The game alone is good its the player is complete **** . It's rare not to get a toxic match . If your a survivor you have to worry about your own team mates f*cking you over along with the killer. As a killer you have bully squads . Plus there are hackers running a muck

it's just not worth it, some times it's fun, but most of the time it simply not worth and this comes from a person who likes this game and will come back to play it.

i have over 1000 hours on psn, let me say the game is not fun anymore. the community is terrible and extremely toxic (its not as bad as it was) killer is a second class citizen and their fun doesn't matter and constant swf at high skill levels is frustrating. on the flip side survivor is just boring and extremely repetitive, if you do good or your team expect to get face camped. i have never received so much hate mail, threats, overall bad interactions in game and out, from a game. 2/10

Save your time and your money. Pursue generally anything else. Not worth the time and investment.

Devs don't know what they're doing, and lucked out with famous license killers early on in the game's lifespan. It has a chokehold on asymmetrical games, becoming a titan despite how bad the state of the game might be.

Expect to spend at least three times the price of the base game just to unlock perks to be viable in gameplay. You can theoretically grind in-game to get currency to unlock one character at a time BUT this is unable to be done with licenses; aka myers, freddy, sadako, etc. It means that you're still going to be paying at least 3 times the price of the base game to get all the perks and have more options in terms of perk variety.

Gameplay is EXTREMELY frustrating and has forgotten the core loop/foundation of dbd. Killers can choose to prevent people in particular from playing the game, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. There's nothing in the game to stop the Killer from focusing you right after being hooked, which means if they're petty or just want to eliminate one survivor for the sake of slimy gameplay, then you cannot stop them. You can't stop them because devs have nerfed survivor power into being nonexistant. This core problem of the game is what has me quitting the game over and over again. Imagine coming home from a 9 to 5 job, signing up to play a game that you're realistically only going to play for 2 minutes because the devs give the power for them to tunnel you without consequences.

Killer designs have become so bloated and the consistency makes zero sense. For instance, pseudo-ranged killers have to hold m2 to charge up their power, meaning they're unable to attack you with a basic attack. The Xenomorph automatically gets a pseudo-ranged attack passively, and can m1 you at any time without losing this attack. Meanwhile Demogorgon, Executioner, Nemesis, and a couple more, have to commit by holding m2 and can't basic attack within this window. Chucky, is a killer that plays exclusively in 3rd person during chases, in a game that is fundamentally built on killers playing in 1st and survivors in 3rd. This creates a very big problem in-game because it basically "breaks the rules" of the game, while being a license killer so you can't access without swiping. Viktor, part of The Twins, plays the game in 1st person despite being pretty much the exact same height as Chucky. It's evident here that licenses are getting a bit of favoritism in mechanics design, and it makes the game unhealthy.

A lack of gameplay clarity also makes the game experience poor. I'll give you a scenario; you're on a generator and a survivor just got hooked and the killer is running to your location immediately afterwards. Are you ready to play "What the fuck is happening to my generator?" Did it blow up because the survivor got downed from Jolt? Did it blow up because Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance? Did it get blocked from Grim Embrace? Did it get blocked from I'm All Ears? Did it get blocked by Dead Man's Switch?

Iterating on the last paraphaph, the devs are running out of ideas with perks. They pretty much just make the same effect, but with different trigger conditions. This makes the game a jumbled mess and not really understanding what's going on unless you do college thesis level research. Did the killer get Aura Reading capabilities from; seeing survivor's heal with Nurse's Calling? Hooking a survivor with BBQ & Chili? Carrying a survivor with Awakened Awareness? Opening a locker with Darkness Revealed? Did the game just start with Lethal Pursuer? Survivor standing next to a downed pallet with Zanshin Tactics? Did the survivor escape chase with Predator?

This concept of re-using the same mechanic but with different triggers is widespread all across the game, and has become incredibly stale. All of the Aura Reading ruined stealth gameplay for survivors, while simultaneously making most loops extremely short and unable to be used without trading hits or worse. On top of this, factor in newer killers having some form of anti-loop. Keep in mind that you probably won't be able ot access these unless you card swipe for more at least three times the base game's cost.

Every person who plays or has played this game will tell you they have a love-hate relationship for it. Mostly because it's miserable and they still play because of the Sunken Cost Fallacy. Don't fall victim to BHVR's false hope. The game will never get better because it's already been muddied with poor designs that are unfixable; such as Xeno, Skull Merchant, Knight, etc.

Did you know that Dracula is 3 killers combined into one? Flame pillars = Executioner's line attack. Wolf form = Mastermind Dash. Bat form = Spirit Phasing (Loosely. You can hear people the same way; louder footsteps, scratches, and grunts of pain)

In good faith, I can't recommend this game to anyone. Instead, it's something I would probably recommend to my worst enemy.

I loved this game, but the current state of the game is unplayable as a survivor. Between the OP new killers they introduced and the lack of respect killers have via tunnelling, re-hooking, camping hooks - it is out of control. Even when we 'win' as survivor, it is not enjoyable as killers refuse to play the game as intended to seek out a full clear by abusing a lot of the game mechanics.

I won't be playing or recommending this to anyone anytime soon until I see an improvement.

I think this is substantiated by the fact that the survivor queue always has at least a 50% bloodpoint incentive for playing it because no one wants to.

The game used to be a lot of fun, there were a lot of cool streamears making content on it. You way of balancing things has always been annoying, but the reason I'm leaving a bad review is literally the BUGS.

Lobbies keep disbanding, people get kicked of games for no reason, your implementation of EAC is disgusting, throwing errors with it all the time. Before releasing more ugly cosmetics make a game people can actually get a match in and enjoy.

playerbase is one of the most awful and toxic cesspools of pathetic excuses for human beings you could ever imagine, and the devs are just as incompetent.

Great game that I have been playing for years and recently started streaming. I like that it has a lot of achievements and challenges.

So let's start with balance. It just doesn't exist. Everything is made up for killers. They have these hooks every 2 meters, so without any help there's no way you getting out alive. Call me no skilled, I couldn't care less. You either get matched with completely retarded killer, new to the game or complete sweat who doesn't wash his ass and plays this game 24/7. Totally wouldn't recommend if you're looking for fun.

its okay its just an old game that keeps reusing killer powers over and over and survivors still xost the same as killers even tho they arent nearly the same value.

While having over 2k hours on PS4 before coming to PC, I will just say Dead By Daylight is a fun game. The gameplay loop for both Survivors and Killers is fun, and engrossing just enough, but the real issue is the toxic community.

If you want to enjoy this game, go into it without being hyper competitive. Seen way too many take this game way too seriously, and it's not good.

Dead by Daylight has been experimenting with new game modes but this game desperately needs more incentives to stay in the game. If you have a group of 4 players, playing Survivor wont be a hassle. Solo queue survivor will test your patience if you get angry easy.

this is one of the worst games i've ever played but for some reason i am so addicted to it. i would recommend if you want a game that is going to make you want to jump off a building

absolutely love this game and highly recommend it, but with a few things probably worth keeping in mind:

this game isn't very beginner-friendly. the tutorial isn't great, and there are a lot of killers and perks to learn (you don't NEED to know ALL of them right away to have fun or even manage well enough, but the more you know, the more you'll understand why things happen and thus have an easier time as you go), with more on a regular basis.

this game is very grindy (assuming you intend to unlock a lot of characters/perks with shards, or spend bloodpoints to prestige multiple characters); your perk/character selection will be pretty limited if you don't spend money or grind bloodpoints and shards, and the common perks and perks on the starting characters aren't exactly the best.

definitely a more opinionated thing, but solo queue on survivor is generally agreed upon to not be the most fun. you definitely can get some good teammates playing alone, but don't be surprised if you get clueless or downright toxic, sandbagging teammates.

with that said, if you want to approach the game more casually, you can absolutely get by! you can jump into the base game for pretty cheap as it goes on sale pretty frequently and try the free killers and survivors and their perks, and if you find yourself enjoying it and wanting to dive in more afterward or spend more money, you can do that too!

ultimately, in spite of its flaws, the game is an absolute blast; the best thing to do if you get into the game is to try not to take it too seriously (unless you wanna play competitively, then by all means do!) so you don't get burnt out or frustrated. bad game? gg go next, and do your best next game! if you need a break, by all means take one! the game isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

if you have an experienced friend that plays the game, try to play with them, or seek the various resources made by the community to help you out if need be! the official community discord is a good place to go for questions and general help with the game, or potentially finding people to play with.

this is possibly the most unfun and dogshit annoying game i've ever played in my entire life, like seriously i don't know if its just my personal experience but i have ABSOLUTELY ZERO fucking idea how ANYONE can find this fun

The game just feels horribly unbalanced. Hard to get into and learn as a new player. SWF ruins the game and tunneling and camping killers are no better. If you want a game that has you only chasing survivors while gens pop all around you because Behavior cant balance a game then I guess this game works for you? Otherwise I cant recommend it.

At first the game seemed average to me, then I fell in love with the gameplay, then I started getting annoyed by people abusing certain mechanics, then I fell in love with being an killer This mix of emotions made me love this title

Don't take the game seriously and the game is actually fun. Buy it on sale, as it often does go on sale, cause there are a ton of DLCs.

I got kicked for cheating when I not only was NOT cheating but I also was in a custom game with friends so even if I was (which I wasn't) then who was even getting harmed?? It was probably a blessing in disguise because this game makes me want to rip my skin off and run rampant through my neighborhood as a skinless screaming psycho to permanently traumatize everyone who crosses my path. I hate you Behaviour Interactive.

the game has its moments of rage for sure- but then i queue as a killer and it makes me giggle for 10 minutes straight. i keep saying "im getting tired of this game" and then picking it back up- why? i have no idea. this season was the first time ive hit 100+ which may not be much to many people but for me to spend that much time on a game means something in my book.

No, I will not recommend this game. They need to stop nerfing low tier killers to the ground, making them more useless. And they keep breaking the survivor perks we love with changes that make them useless too.

Um bom jogo, porém a curva de aprendizado é estupidamente grande. Necessário gastar mais de 200 reais pra começar ou jogar por horas e horas atrás de fragmentos iridescentes e mesmo assim não será possível ter todos os killers nem sobreviventes, pois alguns são de DLC, então é necessário gastar dinheiro caso queira ter perks específicos ou todos os personagens.

The most unbalanced PVP game of all time with mechanics such as fixing a generator (holding M1) for 80 seconds, getting slugged on the ground and being useless for 4 minutes, unable to disconnect because you will get a penalty, and playerbase second to none in playing to win and not playing for fun. The game itself is not designed to be competitive but people still do winstreaks and play like their mother will be pushed off a cliff if they don't make everyone miserable. Dad still hasn't come back from getting milk.

I play as the Xenomorph, and the lore paints me as the ultimate hunter, fearsome and engineered to kill. Yet the gameplay reduces me to little more than a plaything for the survivors.

The game is not as fun as it used to be. If u want a game that NIGHTMARE to solo and need to get more frustrated and stress ? This is the game for you,toxic,npc teammates, hardcore slugging tunnel killer,with the balance team that i kinda sure they NEVER try to play the game for once. This game is what you choose to end you day with the opposite of happy. Don't waste money on this game

Enjoyable 99% of the time whether you're playing killer or survivor. Sure some survivor stacks or killer players will play in unfun and annoying ways, but there's no deranking or stat tracking. So if you just keep in mind that this is a casual party game, those occasional matches shouldn't matter too much.

A lot of cool tech, perk builds, and strategies lead to near endless replayability. This is an amazing game.

This game has had plenty of moments when it could be fun, however the community of this game has quite honestly ruined it more then any meta, bugs, or cheaters. This game has turned into nothing more then a game where one side tries to ensure that the other side can have as little fun as possible instead of just trying to enjoy a asymmetric game for a more casual play. In my last few matches as survivor all I face is the strongest killers, and all I face as killer matches are either meta builds or bully squads who just want to ruin your day, maybe if the community stops this who shtick of which side can make the other more miserable I can change my review.

I was banned 3-4 years ago just for trying out a custom skill icon (PNG) and asking what's wrong with my game. I sent a ticket to Dead by Daylight support to figure it out, and instead of helping, they banned me. Since then, I’ve been completely ignored, despite sending multiple ban appeal emails

They even threatened to delete my forum account, and eventually did, just to stop me from raising this issue. It's disgusting how a company can behave so toxic

I also sent a ticket to Steam about this, but they didn’t do much. They just took some notes on "ban abuse" and told me to keep mailing Dead by Daylight support, even though I’m still being ignored

Honestly, I don’t know what else to say. Do NOT send them a ticket for help or for any problem—they'll just blame it on you and ban you. Just buy or play another game. It’s not worth tainting your Steam account over this

For those who might say I cheated: I’ve never cheated or broken the rules. I wasn’t banned for bad behavior or ruining games (I was always a positive member of the community; you can see the comments on my profile from other DBD players). I was banned simply for asking for help with my game, after trying out a different PNG skill icon—something popular DBD streamers were doing at that time, maybe they still doing it now. And when I tried to remove it, something went wrong, i asked for their help and that’s when I got banned, not the from anticheat, not from players reports, but from them.
You can see it on my Steam profile, I have only one ban—from Dead by Daylight—and that’s just because I dared send them a ticket asking for help

I really can't recommend it, the entry price is fine, but the sheer amount of money milking they do to this games community is ridiculous for the states they leave the game in (So many paid dlcs, plus a battle pass, plus an item store with 20 dollar skins, and also FOMO from some limited time skins). Its constantly unbalanced, and they constantly make balancing changes that the community immediately would have told them was a bad idea, but they don't ask the larger community, and it seems like they don't listen to the few creators they do talk to. But, it can be fun for sure, I just wish it was scary. I had like 3 jump scares in my 644 hours of game play. 8/10 at times, but it often falls to a 6 during the less balanced months.

UPDATE: The D/C penalty is so busted. If you are a survivor you are given no option to leave a toxic game without a bogus penalty. You basically die and get crap MMR or you get a penalty for leaving.
It is literally screwed either way for a surivor.

For a game out for 8 years, it is so ridiculously buggy. It is 100% killer sided and with each update they buff more and more killers. Being a survivor isn't fun when you're playing match after match against psychopathic, slugging and tunneling killers who want to end the game in 2 minutes and no one gets any blood points. You'd think that they'd want to make things better for survivor, seeing as how there's always a blood point multiplier, but it's pointless when you're tunneled after first hook to your death. The toxicity from the killer community is absolutely atrocious and every time I think I want to give this game a fair chance again, I continue to get crap match after match. It should be called "Kill by 30 Seconds" instead of DBD.

This game is very fun if you play with players that are new-ish or very casual. On the higher levels though, the asymmetry and balancing problems really start to show, and the game becomes painful to play. Combined with the entitlement on both sides caused by either side not playing the other, this game's community has become quite toxic.

In 2024 a game as profitable as Dead by Daylight doesn't have a brightness slider or working antialiasing. Get your priorities in order and add these basic features to the game so that people don't have to use third party software to make this blurry garbage playable.

The game is in an absolute awful state. All from cheaters, massive amount of bugs to just an awful comunity (both from the survivor side and killer comunity).

It also doesn't help that it's possibly the worst meta yet. Camping and tunneling uesd to be some nuisance from time to time. Now you'll probably play 20 games before you find a killer that doesn't use it as his whole strat. Killers got buffs after buffs, patch after patch. Unless you're a 4 man it's extremely killer sided now with no downside to literally just stand just off range of the hook and get a free down for each switch. Rinse and repeat, free 3 man. No skill required. Can be done on all killers, possible 4 man at gate.
It's a single loop for the first survivor found and then the rest of the gameplay is just work on generator and trade on hook. Even the gen slow meta and the three gen camp was more fun than this.

For anyone saying oh this is just cause you're a survivor. I used to be a killer main that got bored from all the amount of buffs we got. Unless I went against a four man it straight up fealt unsatisfying cause how easy it was. All my favorite killers that needed maybe a small overhall got so buffed their identity changed.

It also doesn't help that the devs are absolutely awful, does their best to stop players from reporting cheaters and doesn't take into account anything the comunity says. They recently gave up on stopping tunneling and camping cause they failed miserably over and over again. They straight up came out with a statement that can be shorted to "We don't know how to deal with it, so it's now just a part of the game. You deal with it. We do no longer see it as an exploit that needs to be fixed."
Even the most devoted streamers/content creators has given up on their contact with the beHavior cause as they say them selves. They straight up don't care/don't listen. We have PBEs to test out stuff and even for everything wrong we call out it still gets through and stays on the live servers, sometimes for months.
