A very interesting sequel that hardly reaches the quality levels seen in the previous game.
Another great game and probably enjoyed it as much as the first one. Although the spooky parts do look very cheap in this one like others have said.
Fantastic game from back in the day. Runs fantastically well on Steam Deck:
- TDP 8W
- GPU 1300mhz
- Max settings
- 5hrs. battery life
[*]>120 FPS
Definitely more of a console-oriented game than the first. Lots of fun but lower replayability for the solo campaign. I figured out that my sound issues were somehow tied to my resolution. Setting it to 5120 x 1440 would kill the sound but setting it to 3840 x 1080 (and after an uninstall and reinstall) would restore it. No idea why and I was afraid of playing around with the settings more than that. Of note: some forum posts said the GoG version didn't have the sound issue, but I had the exact same problems on GoG with the ultrawide res killing the sound. Very odd.
FEAR 2: Project Origin is a thrilling blend of intense action and spine-chilling horror. The atmosphere is incredibly immersive, with eerie environments and a haunting soundtrack that keeps you on edge. The combat feels fluid, especially with the satisfying slow-motion mechanic, and enemy AI is surprisingly clever, making battles genuinely exciting. Alma's presence is as terrifying as ever, and the story had me hooked with its twists and psychological tension. While some sections felt slightly repetitive, the overall experience was gripping. If you’re into FPS games with a dark twist, FEAR 2 delivers an unforgettable, heart-pounding ride!
graphically very beautiful and the art style is really pleasing to look at. the varied locations make certain parts more memorable, but everything else just feels worse than the 1st game.
combat arenas dont feel as fun to fight in. either the level design is at fault, or the ai is significantly worse. there's alot more explosives around the map which means you'll be getting insta-killed often. there's two segments where you get to pilot a big shooty boom boom die die die mech, and it feels pretty bad to use as well. every mech section had me using it as little as i could and i speedran to get them over with asap.
the guns feel pretty bad to use because of the crazy amount of spread they have, and they sound like garbage, too. the only gun i had any fun using was the sniper rifle and you only really get it like 3-4 different times. the shotgun is cool, but enemies dont get one-shotted often enough (on hard at least) to make it feel worth using. the autoshotgun is a joke.
the ambient sounds and generally all soundscapes are top notch, plus the environments are eerie and cool to be in overall.
the last mission has a really goofy part with atrocious gameplay that breaks all tension and made me care about the story even less than i already did. overall, i didnt hate this game, but it wasnt very fun to play. i wanted to stop at a few points, but i forced myself to complete to say i did. very sad to see.
Pretty great sequel! I wasn't expecting much from it, but I turned out liking it just as much as the first.
TLDR: it's not bad as an FPS but don't go into this one expecting S.C.A.R.Y. or F.E.A.R. It's pure F.P.S. with a few deformed humans and ghost possibly inbred sexy time .
The game has good improvements over the first one. It's visually much more modern and feels like an FPS with horror elements, rather than a horror game with FPS elements. I haven't had any issues with controls and there is no need to fiddle to get it working on a modern system The graphics are improved but the ambiance is not improved by this.
A detail that I liked are the ghosts appearing as coming out of dead humans rather than out of a portal, this leads to something that should be mentioned: the game kinda feels like a "requel" or a "pre-requel". The story seems to happen before and during the first game, therefore many sequences feel kind of a redo but with other characters and a less content but more modern.
This is probably why most people jumping from the first one didn't enjoy it. On its own, it's not bad but it doesn't stand against the first game.
The environments are nice for an FPS. It's mostly corridors which aren't too scary this time around and arenas. You get 2 fixed turret defense phases and 2 mech phases. That's pretty nice but really...not scary. However it fits into the world. The sound and music are good but nothing too fancy The voices are good though. The game also feels less tideous, as opposed to the first one was which a bit repetitive at times.
As in the first fear, there are short segments with teammate bots but they are too short -it's less scary with a friend! You can also let the flashlight on non stop, which makes it basically useless on the scary-meter.
The AI is much less crafty, which is something they should have kept. The AI in the previous game is incredibly good and surprising. In FEAR 1, soldiers will find pretty convolute paths to get you from behind. In this one, they simply spawn behind you.... which happened only once in the first game.
Overall, the enemies aren't very scary and, to be honest, the monsters are more of a hassle than anything else. The cloaked assassins are probably the best in that regard as they have better path finding.
There are collectibles and achievements but purely in-game. It would have been a good thing if they had linked those to steam, for replayability.
The one DLC is really truly a shooter segment. It's fun to play but there is no scary parts at all. However it expands the lore. The game is about 8h and the DLC about 90min.
On a technical side, there is no manual save so if you're like me, you can't play and stop when you have or want to. You also can't even load 1 or 2 previous saves so if your current save gets corrupted (which shouldn't happen, the game is stable), you have to restart the level or whole game. The "it's cheating" argument doen't hold because the game could simply disable saves during key events. It's probably a console thing to limit the resources needed. The game has obviously been designed for console, which is good for gamepad players.
The keys don't need to be reconfigured for the DLC, however you need a 3rd party software or use G suite (for Logitech users) in order to use more than the basic mouse buttons. That's quite a big oversight. The controls in-game feel a bit mushy. Running is like running on soap or in pudding. There is no leaning for the player but the enemies can so it's a bit unfair.
The multiplayer can be started bu I didn't see anyone at all. There might be a fan based multiplayer mode, from what I've seen in the discussions.
All in all, it's a fun piece of content when on sale. Especially if there's a working multiplayer. Play it as an FPS but for scares and better content, play the first one.
I have to be honest. This isn't great.
Usually you can tell when a game is good in the first two hours and this is such a case. I very much enjoyed playing the first FEAR and its two standalone expansions. I played them on Hard and every firefight was intense and fast paced. FEAR 2 learns nothing from what made the first so good in the first place.
Obviously, it looks better. I also enjoyed how the SMG is finally a semi automatic rather than the stupid burst-only. The pistol is somewhat viable, far more than in the first game. I enjoyed the horror elements with Alma and they appeared regularly enough. I confess one jumpscare did get me. But this is about all I can say positively.
It's clear consoles were a primary focus the moment you enter the main menu. Mouse buttons cannot be bound, unlike in FEAR 1. No visual settings, unlike FEAR 1. This means you have to deal with motion blur and intense bloom. Mouse sensitivity is busted and the setting does not change anything. But to be fair, it didn't require me to fiddle with .ini files and other third-party fixes to get the game to run at a widescreen resolution or over 60 FPS, like the first game.
FEAR 1 was memorable for two things, its groundbreaking AI that felt real and coordinated, able to react to your actions and surroudings very effectively; and the over-the-top, very visceral, gun-fu combat. FEAR 2 has neither. The AI is very, very dumb, often getting stuck on fences and struggling with guardrails. They rarely ever move to get a new vantage point and at most will take the most obtuse flank path which means you can just sit down and gun them down as they go to that one path one by one, rather than try multiple paths at once. The gunplay is very mediocre, which is a cardinal sin considering how good FEAR 1 is to the senses. I knew I was going to hate it the moment I saw lean was removed, in favor of a shittier, unfitting cover system where you can slide into cover, flip tables to make cover, push other shit to make cover. At no point you will use this because you are getting shot at by half a dozen enemies at once and the animation takes time. It makes the gunplay very simple, basic and far less interesting. Leaning wasn't just a way to use the established surroudings as makeshift cover or watch your flanks while keeping protected - it was a way to control the pace of an otherwise intense and difficult firefight. You could lean, but so could the enemies, sometimes blindfiring from cover or leaning to get a shot. Aiming down sights is okay, I just hate that now hip-firing is heavily punished with insane accuracy loss.
Grenades are passable, I guess. Enemies will toss them with no fanfare, which sometimes resulted in deaths you couldn't even avoid. This is perhaps something from playing on Hard, where they deal an obscene amount of damage, while yours feel weak. Personally, the biggest weapon sin is the shotgun, which sounds so neutered and underpowered. Sure, it can still gib enemies on occasion, but so can any other weapon. I played enough to find the fourth weapon, the AR, and I didn't need to switch weapons, meaning at the very least the weapon limit became four instead of three.
Lastly, after dying a couple of times to ridiculously hard and obtusely spawning crawlers, I turned down the difficulty back to normal. And to be honest, it's worse. On Normal, enemies barely tickle your health bar, even when the game throws dozens of them at once. The difficulty just feels so unbalanced it loses any sense of struggle it could otherwise convey, like the first game did. On top of this, the removal of quicksaving, placing you at the mercy of the game's checkpoints (which to be frank isn't bad, but still not ideal) and the downgrade in sound design makes for a game that lacks the charm of its predecessor, nor catches the interest of a fan of the genre.
I might come back to this in the future, but after the monument that is FEAR 1, this game sharing that title when the gameplay isn't nowhere near on the same level feels an affront.
Not as good as the first one, gunplay is B A D
Played it only for the continuation of the story
F.E.A.R. 2 didn't scratch the itch in the same way that the original F.E.A.R. did. While this game's combat can be fun when you really start to get into it, the main issue for me was the story and characters. Over half of them are forgettable and ok at best. I don't hate this game, but I don't love it. Is it something I will come back to often? Nope. Is it a bad game? Not at all. Gameplay is still very solid, and honestly the glue that is holding this game together are the graphics. Seriously, at times I thought I was playing a game that came out in 2012 and not 2009. Giving it a solid 7/10.
Here's a video for to help you if you played more than 2 hours of this game

one of the greatest horror shooters to be released. i personally enjoyed this one more than the first game, and there are alot more intense horror moments compared to the first, like the part where you advance through the primary school and alma is chasing you . the game is short and straight to the point. The graphics also look fantastic for a game that released in 2009, the gunplay is punchy and the slowmo shooting feels great. Definitely worth picking up on a sale when the whole series goes dirt cheap. They need to make a (good) F.E.A.R 3.
If F.E.A.R. 1 holds a place of love in your heart, you'll probably take issue with this one. If, like me, you found the first one...kinda crappy, this one may end up as a passable shooter. I certainly liked that the combat wasn't constantly obscured by dust and had a little more variety. It's still predictable and not in any way scary. I played it on easy only because I was expecting more bullcrap like enemies that could shoot through walls and frequent crashes from the first game.
The Good
+Ran fine on a modern PC. No tweaks or unofficial patches necessary.
+Good graphics
+Dust doesn't obscure everything in every single fight
+Better ironsights/scopes
+Ability to flip items over for cover
+Game forces you to try new weapons as you play
+6-7 hour playtime, ending right about when it was getting old
YMMV
~EULA
~The GameSpy splash screen is unskippable for some reason
~Ran into a few minor bugs
~More gore
~Partial nudity and uh, some weird sexual stuff, to be brief
~Story makes a little more sense?
~Still kinda repetitive and linear, even for a FPS
~No more leaning
~Some brief mech combat and mounted turret sections
~Checkpoint save system, though they're pretty frequent
~Flashlight has unlimited batteries, but is still kinda crap
~Shotguns are somehow worse than last game
~Still not scary at all
~Metroid Prime-like visor UI around edges of screen may annoy some
The Bad
-The quicktime events are annoying, at best
-Really really hard to hear dialog for some reason
Played on:
Win11, i7-14700K, RTX4060 Ti 8GB, 32GB DDR5-6000 @ 1920x1080
using KB&M
Easy difficulty
When it comes to the FEAR series, i always hear FEAR1 being a masterpiece and FEAR3 being a non horror disappointment for the franchise, well...what about FEAR2? for me Fear2 beats them all, a huge improvement on all fields, from interface to sound design/ gun play/ missions struction to acting. I even feel like Fear2 or scarier than the first one. This one is packed with flashbacks and spooky effects constantly where you even get to see Alma ( Alma even attacks you randomly ) where in the first one Alma is more of a distant effect, you keep chasing but never really interact with. This just adds to the fact that the story in 2 is even better, missions are in places connected with Alma, you get to know more about her and her intentions.
FEAR 1 is really good, but FEAR 2 deserves some love as well, oh yea FEAR3 is not bad neither.
P.S 1 : Cant unnoticed the game being heavily inspirited by Half Life , and thats not bad at all
P.S 2 : you ever noticed FEAR series is very similar with Dead Space series, even when it comes to what games are the most loved
If this was titled Call Of Duty: Ghost, then it would've made more sense than the actual Call Of Duty: Ghost.
Got bored very quickly, did not age well, did not innovate, just your basic shooter with dumb plot. I really don't understand the hype, the movement system is also very boring, you get slow-mo, but all you can do is move and shoot. It is so boring, a poorly aged game that is unbelievably cliche. Nostalgia is probably the reason it gets high reviews. ABSOLUTELY DATED!!
I feel for F.E.A.R. 2. It has the misfortune of following F.E.A.R., one of my favourite first person shooters ever.
The gunplay and explosive action that made the first game DOES return in the sequel and IT IS good, but it's different. For starters, the first games shotgun was the best shotgun in gaming for ages. F.E.A.R. 2's shotgun is garbage and I hated using it. The other weapons make up for it, but the shotgun is a critical weapon in the franchise and was replicated VERY poorly. The napalm launcher sucks. The pistol is average. The automatic guns are good however, I will give the devs that.
The sequel is still explosive, the slow-motion still feels beautiful and the colours are immaculate. That's probably my favourite thing about F.E.A.R. 2, the colours. In fact the whole game is very pretty, compared to the dark and gritty F.E.A.R..
All in all, it's a great shooter but an ok F.E.A.R. game.
As a person who was obsessed with FEAR 1 back in the day, I never played this.. until it was £3.59 for the entire franchise.
I'm not even sure this game was worth playing.. I only ran through it because I want to play through the franchise. It felt like just another shooter with generic visuals and lack of immersion.
this is a great game, the gameplay has improved from the first game so it is even more fun now, the character faces are great, this game's art style holds up and yes, it has better water physics than Star Wars Outlaws and i feel bad for Alma
This is my favourite game in the franchise
This is one of the most greatest games ever made, well at least for me, it's beautiful, it's gritty, it's violent, just a awesome game all the way. The combat is better and more vivid than F.E.A.R. 1, if you wonder, the flow of the gameplay is exactly the same as F.E.A.R. 1. Sure, F.E.A.R. 2 it lacks few stuff from F.E.A.R. 1 but that's ok, cuz you can see Monolith Productions made this game with love just like F.E.A.R. 1 and this is why F.E.A.R. 2 still is a great game. And this got to be the most addictive game i have ever played Xd.
After finishing first F.E.A.R. and both expansions I've had a lot of trouble to recalibrate - movement, aiming and overal feeling is much different than the original game. After about 30 minutes I've totally lost myself in F.E.A.R. 2 forgetting about all mentioned above. The only thing I could whine about is mouse sensitivity - even at the lowest possible setting I've managed to do an unintentional 360 a lot of times... The story itself is very interesting and it's easy to follow. I really wonder what te third part will show. Overall 7/10 from me, one of the good games defineately!
Although not as good as F.E.A.R. 1, I still enjoyed this game a bunch. But the game play is a slight downgrade compared to the first.
alma scares me in a much different way now.
Great short game, not as good as the first one, but enjoyable experience.
Corporate black ops soldiers, weird scary ghosts, child experimentation, and militarized clones.... I love F.E.A.R.
This just ain't it chief. Only buy it on sale with the entire franchise, never full price.
F.E.A.R and it's expansions were true horror fps games, there was a sense of dread and "fear" that made it unqiue, the atmosphere was uneasy with well done horror elements but F.E.A.R 2 completely neglects all of that to be a Call of Duty clone.
This game came out when Call of Duty was becoming too famous and every company wanted to capture that in the hopes of making the bank, it doesn't offer the same vibe that the first games did, there is a level where you control the giant gun, a level where you use the mech and mow down swarms of enemies easily, the weapons are boring, their feeback is alright, not as good as the first game, the only reason why you should play is when you grab the entire collection on sale so the price justifies the experience.
It's very linear, short and just misses the point of the first F.E.A.R game.
Great graphics fun gunplay a true classic though i feel its very underrated. without slowmo or the mechs the game is a far harder but more fun in my case at least.
F.E.A.R's quality goes down in order of release. 1st game, great! Expansions, good. Sequel (This game), okay. And lastly, F.E.A.R Paranormal Warfare (final game, COD clone), the worst, although somewhat fun coop.
Im not sure Id recommend this one when youve got the first one in which you can have more fun blasting away. Its very important that the slow mo is in this game as well which I love. The weapons feel less good to use and the game overall for me feels a bit too shakey, and the movement feels a bit sluggish. The music is meh but the details are plentiful. There are also the spooks just like in the first one but this time its a boney a*s thats scary and not a demonic little girl. Overall Im kind of just going through the game not being impressed by anything in particular that makes me super immersed. Big company games have never really been that much my forte anyway.
Inconsistent quality between missions, gun-play & melee feels awkward, and countless bugs toward the end of the game
A moderate downgrade on everything from the first game (especially the AI) but still a fun game nonetheless
If you really, really want more FEAR after the first game then I guess you can play it, but everything that stank about the games in the later half of the 360 era is fully represented here. It's functional but basically a downgrade to the first game in every respect.
It's not even remotely as scary. The characters are there and bark "what the hell is going on!" quite a few too many times. No memorable characters like Paxton Fettel. The diaries you pick up are boring and constantly interrupt the action if you want to read them. All of this combined meant I paid no attention to the plot so maybe it was interesting (unlikely) but I wasn't invested. Some people may dig the atmosphere on show here but it's not a patch on the darker previous game with it's dynamic lighting and more contrasted colour usage (blood in particularly really pops in that game. not so much here).
Hard mode is quite boring and is reduced to triggering slowmo whenever you see an enemy - not because you want to pull of some badass move or some other actual functional intention of using the slowmo, but because enemies just plain cannot hit you if you are strafing in slowmo, so you would just be stupid to not use it even if you have the drop on the enemy in plain sight - i.e., you end up feeling obliged to use it. Maybe it's my bias but the first game just felt a lot tighter and more exciting, with more interesting and approachable level design and more realistically behaving enemies you could actually sneak up on, so you didn't have to essentially abuse slowmo. Also the first third of the game is mainly accompanied with the most obnoxious SCREEN SHAKING I've ever witnessed in a game - you'll walk out of cover in slowmo to try and kill and enemy which will then trigger a SCREEN SHAKE that last like a full eight seconds in slowmo. Actually infuriating!
The shotguns are terrible and one time I shot a soldier at point blank range and witnessed EVERY pellet land AROUND the target, and they didn't take a single hit. On the other hand, enemies with shotguns a few meters away are guaranteed to one shot you at full health, two if you have armour (and getting away from them quickly is a difficult task given the stodgy and slow 360 era FPS movement - better use that slowmo!). The nailgun is introduced too late into the game and is too weak to be of use, whereas in the first game it arrived early where it was much more effective against the early weaker enemies. Then the late-game plasma power weapon is completely useless. Combined with significantly weaker audio design and the considerably downgraded environmental feedback and destruction, the weapons are feel really bland and disappointing.
I will admit that the last hour of this game gets considerably more creative and interesting, and I do actually like the giant robot parts (should have definitely been in it's own game. I basically just bought the game to make sure I didn't dream those parts), but bloody hell everything leading up to it is a slog. It certainly serves it's thematic purpose as a sequel to FEAR, but I have to make my dissatisfaction with the whole package known. The game does serve as an effective poster child for the nadir of enjoyment and creativity of games on the 360, so from an archaeological point of view it's interesting in that regard. The funny part is I've heard it only gets worse from here.
A decent fps back in day
it's not a bad game compare it's time
first the AI in game are amazing, which they would hide in cover and flank you, they even evade to your grenade this game AI win most of the modern fps that they can't beat Fear 2 AI.
there a huge improvement compare to fear 1 but in tiny thing, flashlight infinite which is a nice thing, auto save without manual save, auto save without manual save, the gun graphic is improve much more.
the weapons part, the module from like xm8 assault rife, P90 smg gun and Jackhammer auto shotgun, the weapons had balance issue and it difficult to swap weapons slot once you accident swap the weapon slot then meaning rest of game the weapons are in wrong slot.
however the not scary at all campaign, compare it with dead space you would see different, Fear 2 is not a bad game but really lack a lot of improve space.
"In a July 2008 blog post on the game's community page, Dave Matthews explained that the team had divided the first game's elements into three categories based on fan reaction; the good (combat mechanics, atmosphere, AI, graphics), the bad (too many interiors), and the ugly (a monochrome palette, lack of enemy variety, repetitive environments). With this in mind, one of Monolith's main goals with Project Origin was to successfully tackle the biggest criticisms of the original game"
As it turns out, listening to the majority and trying to follow gaming industry trends ultimately made the game more generic and less memorable than the original..... It's not "bad" though, just medium.... as a sequel it's hard to recommend
Maybe wait for it to be on sale
My favorite game of the FEAR series. FEAR 3 went a little off the rails, so this is the last great one.
no cloud saves. doesnt work on launch. warner bros is almost as bad as ubisoft but hey, no warner bros launcher so heres 3 bucks. something id never give a ubisoft game
FEAR 2 has no obviously huge problems. It works, it's not too buggy, the hit detection isn't broken, the audio doesn't randomly cut out. It's just extremely bland and uninspired at every turn: story, suspense, characters, gun play. It's a consummate example of a lazy cash-in sequel.
It's fine. It plays well and looks great on modern machines. I got this for <£2 in a sale and I'm not sure I'd pay more than that. Its main sin is that it's just not very interesting. It's basically Half-Life: Opposing Force with the alien invasion replaced with a creepy psychic girl but other than that you're moving linearly through generic buildings fighting generic soldiers. In 2024 it's perfectly serviceable as a time-killer but I'd be hard pressed to recommend it over a number of other FPS games from the same era.
Really nice game combining horror story and fps, my favorite part was where the ghost was humping me
This is one of those games where the credits roll and you say "What? That's it?". Scrapped everything that was good about the first game and the expansions to follow a storyline that sorta just amounts to nothing. The journey to the end is pretty menial as well. The AI is a far cry from what the originals were as well, super dumb like most game AI. The environment is more destructable which is cool but it's more annoying than cool. Maybe worth if you're moving on to play Fear 3, but honestly you need Fear 1 to understand Fear 2, but if you play Fear 1 it won't be hard to see that Fear 2 fall extremely short. The DLC is also just weird and amounts to nothing. I'd say it was better than the base game, but more because it didn't do anything as offensive to what Fear 1 had laid out. All it seemed to do was let you walk through levels until they name drop the name of the DLC and roll credits. Big eh. Most entertainment I had in the game was reading the labels on the assets in the environement, there's some pretty comical ones in there. The game struggles with framerate sycing or something, needed to use rivatuner to limit to 60fps and set the interval manually to negate horrid tearing and performance. There's a huge issue with the mouse where it randomly throws it or teleports it seemingly. Also game audio is stuck in surround sound I think regardless of speaker settings. Use windows sonic for headphones or something. Can't really recommend the game unless you're just set on playing all the Fear games.
downgrade sh!t!
play the first way fu@king better
this sh!t more like cod not fear
KINDA EH 1 WAZ BETTER
Please add sex with Big Tiddy Goth Chicks
Love the old school fps games. Played this on a couple different laptop rigs and never had any graphics or sound errors.
I just love the F.E.A.R. series from F.E.A.R.1 to F.E.A.R .3 as well extraction point as well perseus mandate. And + the D.L.C as well. So you might say that I am a fan of the F.E.A.R. Games. So yea I would recommend it.Disliked it a shame they never carry on with the series like doing a F.E.A.R .4. Ect But I don't have any Disliked about these game's .I just love them.
I was a mere 11 year old when a Blockbuster employee recommended this gem to me. Easily would pay $100 for a remaster. 10/10 esp when you consider the time it was released. This is the only fear i ever have played, the franchise seems disconnected heavily so i can't speak to it's predecessor or successor. This game easily stands on it's own two feet.

Visually speaking, this game is still pretty solid. The atmosphere is dense and has amazing environmental storytelling. Also the levels are really detailed, especially for a game this old. It’s impressive and has some decent animations as well.

🎮Gameplay
Gameplay is actually great! The gunplay is fast paced, and you are given a decent amount of weapons to use. The AI is pretty smart, but not sure if they are as good as the first game. Slo-mo is back and really adds much more needed depth and strategy to the combat mechanics. It’s simple, gory, and good fun. I will say that the fear factor (like the first game had) isn’t really there. To me, it just didn’t really feel scary. Maybe it's the level design, or the awfully placed scripted events. Like I literally missed a decent amount of scripted scare events because I wasn’t facing the right direction. I just feel like they are placed wrong maybe. Also despite the good atmosphere and detailed level design, it still didn’t really feel scary. The first game always had that sense of the unknown, and maybe the levels were much scarier on that game than this one. Luckily fear is subjective to everyone, so this game might scare you or give you the creeps.

📜Story
Story was okay. It had many good moments, but also some really bad ones. The ending felt anticlimactic, and some interesting characters just died so randomly. It did leave a sour taste in my mouth. Also some chapters (or intervals) really dragged in the middle of the game. It was still good fun though. Not as good as the first game, but still good nonetheless.

🕛Playtime
Game was fairly long for what it is. It took me around 10 hours to beat on hard mode. Also there are no achievements so after beating it, there's no real reason to get back into it.

🎧Sound
Sound design is good! The music, ambiance all fit perfectly in this game. Some “Jump scare” sound effects were getting old in some sections, but overall it was good. The guns sound amazing too. Punchy, unique, and raw. I also enjoyed the enemies' dialogue too. Talking to each other, trying to find you really does feel immersive.

❗Bugs❗
There were some weird bugs in this game. Pausing the game and moving your mouse will move your character once you unpause, and I had a weird visual bug that makes the environments disappear (luckily that only happened once). The visual bug is easy to fix, just restart your game and you’re good!

🔅Performance
Performance is great! This game has zero issues at all. Playing on max settings I was able to get 200+ fps lol. You should have no problems running this game.

🔗Conclusion
FEAR 2 is a good sequel to its predecessor. The combat is still intense and gory, and still has that fun linier story. It may not be as good as the first game, but still a fun game to play through. If you are looking for a scary shooter, then pick this up! You won’t be disappointed. It’s not perfect, or as scary as the first game, but it has its scary moments. Enjoy your experience, and make it out in one piece!

REMASTER/REMAKE THIS GAME PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
First 2 fear games are amazing games the third one was a disappointment none of what made fear a good game was included in fear 3 they took a different approach and turned what was suppose to be a horror/shooter game into a co op call of duty game fear 2 combat was nowhere near as good as fear 1 but it has good horror and jumpscares which will leave you questioning life
BUY THIS GAME ALREADY!!!
definitelly its an upgrade from the first game - graphics are great, which helps to a better immersion of the story i guess.
gunplay is better, some features like infinite flashlight, better subtitles than those really little one from the first game, sprint and so on.... the slowmo effect has some improvements too like shining enemies.
for me the down side ? the enemies....they are just soulless stupid creatures which just comes in a small waves to me and i need to just kill them - they rarelly speak, or make any tactics, so almost always i dont even know they came...they just...came like a children for candies without any purpose.... definitelly a HUGE DOWNGRADE!!!
and the animations - the player has an improvements, but not to be able shoot enemies during any scripted actions or while throwing an grenade because they are invicible and cant be struck ?? that was a HUGE stupidity from the developers i guess... and even sometime i cant shoot them lets say when those npcs are reloading a shotgun ....a real quality -_-
but in overal, the game is beatiful, still with a great atmosphere, horror elements, fine story, some better features and better gunplay....its just...those enemies are so stupid and broken and because this is a shooting game, it doesnt help to the smoothness...
a solid 7/10.
I know the DLC for the original F.E.A.R. was created by a different game developer than Monolith but those DLC felt more like a true sequel than this game does. Monolith lost almost all of the magic from the original whether that be because of the change in art direction, a new game engine, more console friendly game design, or changes in the writing staff. This game was a bland, boring experience, and the perfect example of a disappointing sequel.
