What an awful VR experience this was. This game has to have the most inaccurate guns I have ever shot in VR. There are just a few extremely quick trials that pretty much all ended in failure for me and they were not fun at all. Some of the targets pop up right next to you too. I would much rather play Lethal VR.
Played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers with only one minor issue (you face sideways, which is annoying but does not effect gameplay if you have proper tracking)
I got this on sale for $4.99 and I think I got my money's worth. I only have 12 minutes of playtime because that is how long it took me to beat he game. However, I did not do 100% in the game. I think I got a B- grade if I remember correctly. Which was surprising, I thought I would get a C or D. There's lots of replayability, I think. How many gun games can you play with a group of friends where each take 12 minutes turns to determine who did the best? That's basically this game which separates it from others in boths its simplicity and quickness to reach the end.
So this game has 16 gunplay mini-games. It has 2 modes: arcade or freestyle. I chose arcade. It lets you choose which order you want to play the mini-game, but you only get one chance and it's pass or fail. Even though it is pass or fail, you do get points so there's reason to keep going back to improve your score and get that higher grade at the end.
Each of the mini-games is quick and easy to understand. However, they vary wildly in difficulty. You only use one hand. And you only use one gun. I found the gun to be accurate. There's a mix of stationary targets, moving targets, and you even shoot an apple off the head of a cat, because why not? And yeah, you shoot soccer balls to keep them in the air for the required time (I failed miserably there). There are no reloads and the trigger is very responsive. At the end, you get to the final stage where you shoot down spaceships with your handgun (crazy, right?).
So I think I got my money's worth. Quick and easy and I had fun. Oh yeah, and the game is good as well. And I was able to play with only 2 front sensors and in standing room only without any problems (I do have 3 sensors and can be roomscale, but I don't always do it). I don't know if the game will be updated to include more content. I think the game needs global leaderboards. I hope the UI is improved. But as is, even with no updates, I can recommend.

This is one of the only VR games that I regret buying. There are many more challenging and enjoyable shooting games to invest your time in instead. A few of the levels are enjoyable and fairly well done, but nothing unique. It would be nice to have a shotgun for the clay style rounds, instead of just a single pistol for everything.
There is no menu apart from a grid of levels, and all of those levels are available to play right from the start. The result is that I had no sense of progression through (or particular incentive to play) the game at all. There is an arcade mode where you can play each game once and then get a total score at the end, but I lost interest after doing it once.
Very basic, I was expecting something polished and stylish like Headmaster but no. This one feels a my first Unity game.
You keep hearing how it's so much like Point Blank, well yeah. That's a nice way of saying there's only 1 gun.
Some of the other reviews claim this is polished? I can only assume they've never played Lethal VR which blows this away or Gun Club which is on another level as far as arcade shooters go. Although this is early access, it's just not even close...
I've always wanted VR developers to embrace goofy but tightly controlled arcade style light gun gameplay instead of going for hardcore immersion and this is certainly it.
While it's very lacking in content as I write this review (You can breeze through it in a few minutes) The mechanics are very solid and the inclusion of an arcade mode where you're graded at the end of it makes it very replayable. The decision to only involve one vive controller in the game so you can stabilize your aim better as if you were holding a guncon is pretty cool. The dust particles that bounce off of where you shoot give your gun a very impactful feel which is a subtle but highly important part of making it enjoyable to use.
They've got the arcade feel down, they just need the content. I wanna see more VR games embrace this kind of arcade feel.
WARNING: No updates since launch (3 months) and developer is completely silent. Best avoided until an update arrives to prove it hasn't been abandoned.

The initial ea release of 16 stages takes just a few minutes to blast through the lot so theirs not much here but does present replay credentials. Some stages are better than others and most of the stages re-use the same assets with a variation on the challenges. Visually the game is sparse but that's okay for a target shooting game.
Others have compared this to Point Blank. Well that's a loose comparison at best, DoubleTap is mearly a take on the Point Blank mini-game arcade shooting gallery concept but no way compares to Point Blank; DoubleTap is still very rough with only 30% of the stages, no leaderboard, primitive presentation, no difficulty levels or any in-game setting options.
The thing is I've enjoyed what I've played so far, but with early access being a gamble and the intital content delivered here feeling like the minimum possible delivered for a early access release I can't genuinely recommend DoubleTap until I see further development updates. It's a cheap price but I have concerns this game has been abandoned by the developer.
All I can say is this is an Epic VR Shooter! Brings back so many great memories from classic arcade games of the past but still feels new and fresh. The stages are great and challenging. A novice can easily get into it but a seasoned veteran will have thier hands full on the difficult parts. I've played shooters since I was little and I find myself wanting more of this one!
This is what VR shooters are all about. A must have game to have in your collection. With this price its a no brainer! Can't wait for more addons or the next game to come out. Highly recommended!
Game is enjoyable to play. It has several unique challenges with more on the way I hope. Would like to see some pop ups with good guys and bad guys. Score points by taking out the bad guys and lose points by hitting the good guys. Would also like to see game utilize the Vive Tracker on a model rifle to do long range (600 to 1200 yard) target practice. At that distance bullet drop, wind and temperatures would all have to be compensated for. I highly recommend this game. Can’t beat it for the price
grate little game woth the money fun and polished
Fast, smooth, fun and funny. Yep, as the other review said, like those old arcade classics, with light guns attached, (Point Blank and Police Trainer), but spherical! Great music too! :) I wasted 50 times as much as the asking price, on those ancient arcade machines. Well worth it.
Note to Dev's: A few metallic impact pings and ceramic impact clacks, wouldn't go astray, for nostalgia's sake. Well done :)
DoubleTap is a perfect recreation of the arcade game Point Blank in VR. A series of different types of fast-paced minigames, all involving a pistol, that scores you after you've done them and gives you a final bonus stage at the end.
This is not to be confused with your run of the mill VR zombie shooters or shooting ranges. While technically the game is made up of shooting ranges, the game plays to challenge you, and to make it fun at the same time, and that's the difference.
I bought this on sale, but it's worth full price. Can't wait to see what they bring out of early access. This does not feel like an early access game at all - I can't fault it. Maybe lack of multiplayer? I don't know. I'm nitpicking.
Edit: HOWEVER, this game has been in early access since December 2017 and says it's only going to be there a few months. I've created a thread in the steam discussions asking for an update now that it's April 2019. The game is short-lived and needs to be honest about whether it's done or not.
