I encountered multiple bugs making the game feel unplayable it's cute but this has hella bugs and mechanics are that of a roblox game the dragon looks nice but everything else looks like it has a heavy lack of effort
The truth feels like an unfinished game.
- The mechanics are very bad in every way.
- Very little Dragon customization.
- The graphics are of poor quality, but it requires a lot of graphics card.
- Among other things more.
It feels like early access, not a full game.
Way too hard, bugged, and just overall not enjoyable regardless of price tag. Played this last year on a sale and instantly regretted and refunded.
I really wanted to think the reviews exaggerated, but this really is an unfinished game. platforming is bug exploitation (no surface seems to react to you landing on or running up it the same way ever again), enemies are way upscaled for no ability to grind, based on the music and gameplay i assumed this was for a younger demographic (dem kids, the little ones). but it really is just an idea and a roughdraft of the game. they cleaned up the graphics, but character customization doesn't wprk, platforming doesn't work, combat doesn't work, skill system doesn't work. i enjoy some dinky games and unfinished gems, but this game should not be on market.
It tries hard to be Spyro the Dragon, but it fails - though I'm surprised it hasn't been sued for copyright since the last dragon skin is a direct ripoff of Spyro.
- Happening to clip right should not and cannot be a requirement for any self respecting platformer!
- The level up system is nice on the surface, but in practice you'll fail easily if you invest in exploration based perks (e.g. more stamina and faster movement) over HP or attack that you'll be using less.
- The only thing really polished in the whole game is the dragon, the rest of the graphics are in stark contrast to said dragon - yes, it's cute dragon, but one cute dragon cannot carry your entire game.
- Some gems are harder to spot due to coloring choices, e.g. gems in bushes are practically invisible and good luck finding gems in water.
Just avoid this and play actual Spyro games instead.
for those of you playing on linux, set the game to run the Windows version using proton. the native linux version would run at 20fps at 720p low settings on my laptop. a note to the developer, try switching to the vulkan api. the game running with dxvk on proton manages much better performance.
this game is clearly inspired by Spyro. (just take a look at some of the screenshots of the main character.) it has all the cliches of an early developer's first Unity project. but in it's current state i simply cannot recommend it. it needs work, a lot of work.
Horrendously buggy, even lags on a high end PC. plus the fact it directly looks like a clone of Spyro, but the shocking part, They make a DLC... For a game that already is very unfinished. I want a refund but steam gives me a big No. I wasted money on this when I could have bought something else. The game does have potential though. but not enough to make up for the blatant ripping off of the Spyro franchise. I am not the kind who leaves this kind of bad review often, but this is a exception. If you want a real game, go get Spyro. Leave this one alone. Can't bring myself to Uninstall it though.
Do not buy this.
I don't want to leave a negative mark on this game because it shows a lot of promise but I do not think this game should be out of early access. I do hope they are working on developing it more as there are a few things that could used tweaked.
In water the camera should have a range limit for coming up from the water as in if the character is so far under then the water surface acts like a wall to prevent the camera from coming out.
There likely should be a breath mechanic.... Though with how much I enjoy swimming under the water I like it with out...
Stamina is a bit annoying and goes down, I think, a bit too fast and I think there should be little to no stamina cost for jumping.
Visible edge of the world barriers. It has always been annoying just running into a glass wall where you couldn't go further when it looks like you should be able to. I could give a few visual ideas how to dress them up to look more practical or natural.
Killing the animals. As you are suppose to be the savior and all it does not feel right that you will be desalinating the animal population to achieve your goals. Does not make you seem much like the 'good guy' them. It would be more fitting if you where to just fight to a knock out and simply have the animals come around as non-hostile after and give more of a feel that you are slowly breaking the antagonists control over things one cute creature at a time.
These are just my thoughts on the general game play so far as I am not about to go into features that are not working and such as those are obvious. If the developers are still working on this then I look forward to updates and improvements.
The game is absolutely adorable, and the graphics and scenery are beautiful. The soundtrack is cute but kind of repetitive, but overall its kind of a relaxing game.
The main problems I have with it are that, one, there really isn't much to it. You run around, collect gems and defeat creatures. Once the creatures are defeated, they don't respawn, and neither to the gems, so once you've done all of that, you pretty much beat the game. Overall I think there's only about 40 creatures total, maybe less. I've maxed out at level 22 because there's nothing else to get experience from.
I'd love the game if there were more to it but it almost seems as if the developer has abandoned the game and no longer intends to update it or add anything new. I might get the DLC, just because I do genuinely enjoy the gameplay, and might let my niece play it some since she likes to play games on my steam. But other than that, I wouldn't really recommend this game. In simpler terms for the pros/cons of this game:
Pros:
-Beautiful graphics and textures
-Cute gameplay and smooth animations for the dragon
-Decent skins to choose from, including a spyro skin
-Pretty easy to level up and get skill points, free skillpoint resets
-Cute idle animations
Cons:
-Combat is horribly bugged, AI glitch out if you happen to be standing on a rock to fight them and they're very twitchy
-Repetitive soundtrack/sound effects
-When running, your dragon randomly gets shoved to the side as if it ran into something
-Extremely short gameplay (I beat it in just about 2 hours)
-Pretty overpriced for what you pay for, the game would be worth maybe $10 max (Though I got it on sale)
If you're looking for something pretty simple to get some achievements from, then this might be a decent game. But if you're looking for hours of gameplay and entertainment this game definitely isn't for that. It is quite relaxing, and helped me take my mind off things however, so at least there's that as well.
Again, overall, it's not a horrible game, and has a TON of potential, it's just whether or not the developer will continue to work on it in the future.
hi, back in 2018 i gave this game a positive review saying it was cute and that i was excited for the future of this project. id like to formally take that all back. in short, the developer completely abandoned the game with zero notification or reason of to doing so. when i went onto the community pages (in 2022) and publicly asked about where the developer went, i recieved this message from the dev themself:
"This game specifically yea. But plan on incorporating Chinbu into Dragon Extinction story eventually, and have even considered a mini-game mode where you can play as Chinbu but can't make any promises. At the moment you can unlock a baby dragon similar to Chinbu after you complete every quest in Dragon Extinction and it follows you and helps you fight."
the developer then proceeded to send me a link to the 13 pound game. so instead of publically apologising or even telling the community that they've left the project for good, they just started working on a completely different (monetised) game. i'm absolutely appauled that the developer had the audacity to do this. what the hell is stopping them from abandoning their second game and making a third one?
and i know full well the developer doesn't care about their consumers. because back when they first released their "frozen world" DLC it was paid content. paid content in a game with barely any features or motive, an extremely early access game that we now know will never even get finished. (the dev did eventually retract this after backlash, making it free. but its still gross that they did this in the first place.)
old 2018 review: the styles cute the games fun. the special effects for attacks are amazing. the other animals models kinda clash because the world is realistic but they are polyart, its not as bad as people say it is i like the mix of cartoon to the world i just feel like it would be cool if they had texture. i like the world design it keeps you interested and the fact you can breathe underwater is an interesting ability. i dont really understand why some people dont like this game however the three dragons in the game cover, the blue and green. when can we play as those models and do they have the glowing stripes with some skins that looks fun. you cant really fly its just a few seconds in air, and when you get to a higher level it just gives you more airtime its a gloryfied glide. i love the variation in multiple long range effects because no animals can do that it gives you the feeling of being powerful and magical. overall i like this game its good needs to improve on framerate sometimes but its still a good game i recomend...
My reason is quite long for that game. Or rather multiple reasons, not just one.
First of all, developer marked it as officially out of early access and I expected that it would have a lot more to it than it currently is. It's not 'out' of early access, it's far from being any sort of coming out of there. I would say that there is a big difference of making a cute and short game, simply short and cute... and a game, that is simply unfinished, game that is more like a demo version of the game, that maybe even is unfinished.
I could talk about that one for quite a while but I don't want to write a book here. And I still have other reasons to move. Like the fact... that the developer... released a 'dlc'? DLC? For extra money? To a game that isn't that cheap, I would say it's pretty expensive for what it currently is, and developer doesn't make the 'main game' grow that much but releases a 'DLC' as an extra content that should be implemented in the base of the game AND the game itself should have a lot more to it? Then what? Will he/she stop improving the game, making it grow or whatever, but will create extra content to it as 'extra dlc' to buy? That's just scam and robbery!
But no... it's 'out of early access' so it's kind of said that it's technically an almost full, complete game with just some small fixes and patches incoming. I mean... there are short games, but to be honest, I felt kind of robbed as I jumped into the game, and It wasn't as half as good as i hoped it to be, and read on the internet that there's practically nothing to this game but the first level... that practically is jumping from platform to platform with quite speed of a snail, collecting crystals and killing animals.
The game so far has nothing really, no story, no graphic, no good gameplay AND it crashes/glitches. I have nothing against games with very little or even 0 story. I have nothing against games without some ultra-graphics, I often, even prefer productions with not a HD graphic or anything of those sorts if it's purpose it's something different, if it's point is something else, if it's offering something else and better, more important. But this one has almost none of... anything.
With that said, the game itself I would recommend it IF...
1. If there was more to it! As i said, it's more like a skeleton, base, a beginning to that game, part of a version demo, not a full game!
2. If it was cheper. Obviously it's not SUPER expensive, but there are many better and longer games with far more work put in it, with far more to offer. AND those are in similar and sometimes lower/just slightly higher price.
That is just... more like a beginning of the game, very very beginning, implementing some basic concepts and mechanics that would be the very beginning of the game and it's creation.
3. Games that are either short, in early access or out of it, should be updated and having extra content implemented as free and kind of promised updates, NOT DLC forcing the supporters of that 'game' to pay extra for something that should be just as a update!
Whoever reads this, I bet that at least most of the readers, will understand what I meant here and will agree with me.
And as I said, I would recommend this game, 'IF'... and about 'IF' matter, I could type a lot more about it.
I'm kind of sad since I thought there was more to it and I really want to support cool projects, games, artists, creators. But if creator, artist or developer of a project asks for X and Y, while gives really not much, offers not much AND demands extra, that's just...
Just to be clear, I have nothing against 'DLC' to games, extra content that costs. But only if the main game... is the main game, and the DLC really is 'extra' content, not content that should be included in the base of the game and base price of the game. Especially in last few years it's visible, that instead of releasing fair DLC, developers create a small part of the game, and then it's new, other parts, sell with a separate price, or make a game and cut it into pieces. That's just a scam and pityful move.
PS: IMPORTANT, I do not mean to offend anyone or throw accusations, it was my personal feelings and thoughts about it, and I do not know the true vision and intensions of the creator so I won't say straight up and 100% sure that He/She is or isn't one way or another. I said how I feel, see, and think about it. Thank You for your attention.
In it´s current state there is not much to do in the game.
At this date it´s only about collecting gems and (if you want to) have a fight with various animals.
The graphics is nice, given the fact that there´s just a small dev team (maybe even 1 single person? I don´t know)
It kinda lacks of "efficient programming" means that you have to have at least a relatively decent computer to play
on the higher graphic settings.
However, why I gave this a positive review is because when looking at the forum for this game there are lots of promises
beeing made.
It´s talked about this game getting a story in some way and even voice auditions are beeing held for the characters to be
voiced.
So I´m looking forward what´s about to come...
Something just isn't right with this game. The framerate's REALLY bad. Even on Very Low graphic quality. The dragon doesn't move right. Most of the time, when he's walking, he'll all of a sudden do this weird dance and start walking backwards, no matter what button you press. This has the potential to be a fun game to play when you wanna just relax, but it's completely ruined by it's giant flaws that make it pretty much unplayable.
The game is quite fun, but its very crash prone and repetitive. Its oversaturated with color which makes it hard to see any details on the models or in the world, and the controls are a bit clunky which also further complicates combat. The controls also have a latent lag, meaning it doesn't actually respond to your input immediately and thinks for a few seconds before so much as moving, let alone attacking or flying. With more polish and a light tune-up this game could be something special, but it definitely needs a bit more TLC and elbow grease before then.
Fun, but not at all ready for release. I feel like the Dev doesn't understand that when you leave early access you're declairing the base game is complete and fully in its 1.0 stage. not just a single level with no story and the promise that both of those will be adressed later.
This game is so cute and so much fun, it also reminds me of Spyro the dragon! :D As it may be have alot to go still, other than collecting gems and fighting off animals. It really does have promising and potential! I rate this game 10/10! I am so excited, to see what else is in stored in the near future with this game.
More to thought, I love the dragons how they remind me of so much of my own species that I created which aren't dragons like these are. Also love on how the game makes me feel like I am playing a game, that I wanted to make myself in such a long time, it gives me such a great feeling really, not to mention how similair this game is to my idea of a game which I'm planning to make in the near future =) ; which also inspires and courage me to do so.
I so recommand this game to my friends, and I already have!
Fun and relaxing game. Beautiful enviroment and cute dragon. Will love to see where this goes into the future
Cute game. The developer is aware of the geo issues.
Storyline is in the roadmap
Known issues are being worked on.
Ive see 20 min walk along games for $20.
The game right now is exactly what you see. Collect games avoid hostile creatures until your strong enough level to defend yourself.
You can check the "Known issues" in the general forums to see what has already been reported to the developer. The game is a day old.
Support indie developers. I had fun for what it is and look forward to future content and storyline.
This game is very fun and entertaining, I understand it is still in early release phase and that there are still bugs and glitches in it. It is very captivating but it could use some story in it more of a plot. It lets you explore the whole world with very very little guidance which is a small hard to see path. It could also use a tutorial seeing as the only time you get to what the controls are when the loading screen is there. We see that the art shows more than one dragon but you do not encounter any or chage appearace. The description also metions Chinbu is a dragon of many elements but in game there is nothing about that. I hope to see in future updates that this adventure makes more sense and that mana actually does something. I still reccomend the game, it is really fabulous and adorable-the art, shadows, and overall look and feel of the game is great. I can't wait to see how the game grows!
game is not ready for EA. Doesnt have any ingame options, mouse sensitivity is insaine... combat is buggy. dont do it, give it a few months.
