I’m playing through this game for the second time, and I’m still amazed! The story is incredibly deep, the gameplay keeps you hooked, and the UI is clean and stylish. The main character and her brother are very well-written, with a captivating plot that gradually draws you in. I really enjoy the spatial puzzles and mechanics, as well as the simple stealth and crafting systems. Highly recommend this game.
I really hate the Steam rating system. Games are too complicated for a simple "recommend" or not. This game is a great example of that and it all really depends what you want from this game. If you want a great, engaging story that hooks you and is interesting, this is definitely a recommend. However, if you want a game that's smooth with good mechanics and is fun to play, top-to-bottom, this is NOT a recommend. The controls and the general mechanics make this a lot more difficult than it needs to be, infuriatingly so. Still, I powered thru... that is, until I had to protect Roderick while he pushed the cart in the final mission. It's obvious that the game blocks your path to hold you in places simply to make a section more difficult, pinning you in from an easy escape. The developer wants you to play it a certain way and that sucks. Since I bought this with its sequel, I hoped they fixed some of this with the next one. If not, I'll probably bitch about it again on that future review. Still, the positives outweigh the negatives but fk this cart sequence, I'll watch the rest of the game on YouTube.
Graphics are good, the gameplay is a bit repetitive but still plays wonderfully, pacing could be a bit better but still great story telling and narrative. Overall a pretty good game.
The game is super cool and extremely original. The only bad parts lie in the last 10% of the game, which pisses you off just before finishing it. I think it's a bad move but overall, I enjoyed it. Kinda short, too.
7/10
Great story! Loved the graphics. Music was well done and very well incorporated into gameplay.
Gameplay is alright. Frustrating that you have to choose between ammo or saving items for upgrades. If you do enough stealth/ sneak by enemies i'm sure you could upgrade things fine. Combat in close quarters made me so maaad. Like I would fire a shot but somehow didn't hit them. Boss fights are clever but can be tricky with the combat. Skill issue? maybe. but switching ammo with the keyboard and mouse in combat was frustrating.
I don't think I'd replay it, but it's good for one playthrough.
Great game all around. Graphics still look great, the character animations are pretty good, the sound design, music, and voice acting are all excellent. The only negatives would be that it doesn't really scale in difficulty (it's pretty easy) and I'd say that the initial missions start to get a bit stale in term of gameplay variety until they give you some new mechanics. Looking forward to play the sequel.
well-written story but still a bit unrealistic for a stealth game
CONTAINS SPOILERS
Shi this might be the best story game that i played the story was beautiful the characters were well writen and the list goes on but the thing that i hated the most (besides Hugo being a pain in the ass sometimes) was when Rodric died but everything else was beatiful recomend
A wonderful game, I enjoyed every moment of it, from the well-crafted story to the stunning graphics, visual effects, and soundtrack.
Oh...my...goodness.
Why was I putting this game off for so long, I just played first 3 chapters in a row, in one session. It's that good.
I highly recommend it.
Gripping narrative, full of emotions.. Don't forget to complete achievements as there is no NG+ .. Happy Hunting.
The story itself is good. Yet, there is game breaking bug years after the game's launch.
One of the best stories I have experienced in last couple of years. I wonder why it took me so long to finally try this game. It's amazing!
First playthrough review time.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a game set in old times during a sickness that spread everywhere. The world in the game is dark and full of danger. Life is hard, and many bad things can happen. The places you walk through are made with much detail, and the game looks very real. The game shows how hard those times were and lets you see everything closely.
The way of playing is quiet and smooth. It lets you stay in the story without breaking the flow. I had thought to play this game when it was given for free on the Epic Store in the first week of January 2024, but at that time, I did not have the minimum hardware to play it.
In conclusion, this game is made with great care, nice gameplay, and strong ideas. It is serious, deep, and very well done. The world, the pictures, and the sounds all work together to create a lasting experience.
Note: Follow the steps in the text file below for better visual quality in A Plague Tale: Innocence. Once you've applied these settings, don’t change anything in the game’s Graphics or Advanced Graphics menus because doing so might reset what you’ve set manually.

I'd like to preface this review by saying I never leave reviews for games - good or bad. But this game. This Game.
Story:
Incredible. I haven't been this sucked into a story line for a game in a very, very long time. It pulled me in instantly and I kept thinking to myself that if there was a book for this game, I would read it too. The characters are lovable and the villains are extremely loathable. I especially enjoyed the historical aspect of the game.
Visuals:
Stunning. I'm a lover for open-world games (which this game is not) but it feels open world. The graphics are very well done. No glitching or anything.
Gameplay:
The controls are easy to understand and pick up. The game has a lot of puzzles but they don't feel like they take you out of the story, like some other games do. They are just challenging enough to make you think, but are overall fun.
Overall, I finished this game in 5 days. I didn't get 100% and already plan on picking it up again to try and get all the collectibles. AND I'm already purchasing the second game. 10/10 stunning.
this is a masterpiece , although i thought of giving up because i am a core fiction games fan, (eg-devil may cry saga , assassins creed saga, but i particularly left assassins creed liberation because i don't like to play games with a female main character except tomb raider and the last of us but after getting tons of great reviews from my friends who have exactly the same taste in games as me , i decided to buy it and give it a try and trust me i loved it. Though the stealth and puzzles made me want to quit sometimes but the grind was worth every moment. It is a beautiful game, people reading my review and thinking whether to buy or not , should really give it a try. Go ahead and buy it. Can't wait to play its sequel plague tale requiem hoping it is as good as this.
9/10 - A Must-Play Experience
I rarely write reviews, but this game absolutely compelled me to share my thoughts.
After spending 10 hours with this game, I can confidently say this game delivers one of the most emotionally impactful stories I've experienced in gaming. Just when you think you've played enough games to predict where the narrative is heading—think again. This game subverted my expectations in the best possible way.
The gameplay revolves around stealth mechanics which, while occasionally repetitive, are complemented by the interesting rat-swarm mechanics that create unique puzzle and tension elements. The game operates on a trial-and-error basis—you'll die frequently, sometimes due to your own mistakes or carelessness. My only frustration came from deaths in seemingly easy sections paired with somewhat distant autosave points.
Where A Plague Tale truly shines is its atmosphere. The sound design is absolutely phenomenal, with stirring and emotional music featuring beautiful period-appropriate instruments that immerse you completely in the medieval setting. The soundtrack deeply affects your experience, making tense moments even more nerve-wracking. Visually, while it might look slightly dated for its release year, the game remains aesthetically gorgeous, creating a haunting yet captivating world.
There are some technical problems on a new machines, as with the high FPS, the game mechanics stop working sometime, therefore VSync is essential.
If you enjoyed atmospheric, story-driven games like SOMA, you'll definitely appreciate what A Plague Tale: Innocence has to offer. This medieval tale of survival against overwhelming odds is well worth your time and emotional investment. If the game is on sale or not, it is worth every cent.
I'm now eagerly looking forward to experiencing the sequel and continuing this haunting journey.
10/10 game, amazing storyline, amazing gameplay. totally reccomended!
A Plague Tale: Innocence is not just a mere game, it's a blockbuster movie that has a really good story
It's like watching a cinema while playing the game
good game eldenring better and sekiro is better than eldenring
One of those games that starts well, but then goes downhill due to disproportionally hard boss that's incredibly hard to beat with the lame controls. I can't count how many times I died because of this stupid wheel for skills choice. It's close to impossible to change them so fast. It just doesn't work. I didn't just quit, I rage quit and after googling I see that I'm not the only one.
I don't recommend because you will also be super frustrated closer to the end. Lame control. Stupidly unreasonable difficulty spike like from 1 to 10 in one scene.
Plague Tale: Innocence was rather short, but sweet.
The game does a great job setting up the story of the series and the main two characters are how I feel siblings can be at times, the game play is pretty nice as I'm a sucker when a sling is typically involved as a weapon or tool though I'll admit there are some things I can see others not liking as it did kind of feel like your hand is being held to solve puzzles to get through situations.
I definitely suggest playing it, but with how linear and story driven the game is you could also just watch the game play as an alternate experience, but if you're interested in the series based off what you see then by all means I don't think you'd be disappointed!
This game is gorgeous. The lighting, the environments, the character animations — it all feels super cinematic. Sometimes I just stopped moving to admire the scenery (and then immediately got eaten by rats xd).
Gameplay-wise, it's a nice mix of stealth, puzzles, and light action. Nothing too complicated, but it flows really well and keeps the tension up. The story is emotional, voice acting is top-notch, and the whole thing just feels really polished.
If you like story-driven games with amazing visuals and smooth gameplay, this one's a must-play.
I played this game before i had a PC in a computer cafe, can still remember the chase scene, it was so memorable that i bought the bundle. No regrets, the graphics is amazing i dont know why im stuttering but i fixed it by capping my FPS. Characters, setting, and the ambiance of the world is top notch. Though the gameplay is repetitive, if you are the type to play story driven games, this is for you.
I love this game! it was not at all the type of game i thought it was, in a good way. it reminds me of "metal gear solid" back in the day. you have to hide and sneak past people who are trying to get you. you have to use your surroundings, throw rock, break pots and such to distract guards to get by. solve puzzles this is a different type of game style. good story. great game!
Už po druhé dohrané, tentokrát na 100% a to na steam, předtím na příběh na epic, za mě doporučuji.
I can just say amazing game, I was not expecting that much from the game, stunning graphics, interesting story, good gameplay mechanics, the whole game is a masterpiece.
The environment for some chapters are just incredible detailed, they put such an effort in details that you feel you are in the bubonic plague era. You fill death around you and you should proceed with caution.
All your friends are wonderful characters, I loved them so much. This game remind me sometimes of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 I don't know why, but the crafting thing is similar to TLOU. Everyone should play this game, now this is one of my favorites games ever.
Very nice game with good visuals and story telling. I like the character development of this game very much. I really recommened this game to others . Now going to start the requimm (part two)
Pretty good story, kinda fell off a bit in the second half of the game, but overall was pretty good. The end of the story is jsut kinda... There I guess. The game felt like it ended too abruptly, lots of unsolved questions that never got answered.
This is one of the games, that delivers the three elements(Game play, Graphics, and Story) in a pretty decent way.
Really great to play.
This is a fascinating game, with a dark plot that will captivate you from the very beginning. It will gradually lead you down a sinister and gloomy path, where rats await you—hungry rats who want you to be their food. Rats, rats, and more rats await you in this game that will test your survival skills. So now you know, if you don't want the world to spiral into chaos and disappear because of this legion of rats, play carefully!
This game was one of the most unique experienes I've had with a third person adventure game in some time. The gameplay mechanics are quite unique and I love how you rotate through who you're accompanied by. The story is well written and at times can be emotional though a few notes fell a little flat. What excels with this game is the world building and atmosphere. As each chapter passes a sort of steady darkness grows. Not just visually but in the world around you. What sets it back a bit from being perfect or closer to are the game breaking bugs of which I had to stop and google mid stream to find answers to. I'll just help you now. To escape the tent Alt+Tab out of the game or switch from windowed mode to non or both. To make the rotating lanterns work if you have a beefy computer. Crank the resolution scaling to 200% to drop your frame rate. I'm a bit shocked that the game has been out long enough to warrant a sequel and yet these rather severe bugs still persist. My last point about why I like this game. The combat is balanced that is not including the final encouter which left me reeling and ready to quit. All in all. Give this game a go and I think you'll enjoy it.
not even done with the game yet and i think it's one of the best games i've ever played. only thing is that some of the puzzles are a little weird to get through, especially if you get caught in a puzzle-combat type of situation and run out of resources. at least you're able to reset from the chapter beginning to kind of prepare yourself, though.
so far W game. immaculate soundtrack.
I tried because it looks cool. But the controls feel clunky and im not interested in a 12 hour escort mission. If you liked it, more power to you. I just rather not.
Very nice, really good storytelling. Nice graphics and presentation overall.
A very beautiful looking game. The gameplay mechanics with the rats are unique and impressive. I did run into some bugs, but overall I enjoyed the experience.
If you feel like participating in a story-driven game with simple but enjoyable game mechanics that game is for you! Beautiful graphics and music throughout the game :)
The price is fair.
Impressive art, amazing soundtrack, good story, voice acting was very good, decent gameplay. WORTH IT.
You will probably need to lock it to 60 fps to avoid some bugs. Found 3 major bugs, but also the fix.
This game was actually incredible. The story, cinematics, atmosphere and game mechanics are all great. The only issue was a small bug in chapter 6 but you can get past it with a work around.
Truly an experience piece for sure. The game mechanics aren't particularly difficult so those who have a lot of gaming experience may be let down a little bit until the very last couple of chapters. Most of the gameplay revolves around proper sequencing rather than actual mechanics.
Overall I think this is one of the best story-telling games I've played in a very very long time and the environment/graphics are truly immersive when playing on a good gaming rig. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great story-rich game.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is not merely a game; it is an artistic and emotional voyage that challenges you while leaving a profound mark on your heart and mind.
Visually, the game is a masterpiece. The environments—deserted villages, desolate fields, eerie forests—are brought to life with stunning detail. The interplay of light and darkness not only serves the gameplay but also symbolizes hope amidst despair in this hauntingly atmospheric world.
What truly sets A Plague Tale: Innocence apart, however, is its deeply emotional narrative and rich character development. The bond between Amicia and Hugo drives the story forward, exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and resilience. Their growth throughout the game resonates strongly, making the player feel every hardship and triumph alongside them. The tough decisions and moments of vulnerability in the game deliver an experience that's far more than just entertainment, it's a heartfelt journey.
Absolutely loved A Plague Tale: Innocence. The story hit me way harder than I expected, and the bond between Amicia and Hugo felt so real. The atmosphere is incredibly immersive, with the grim medieval world brought to life through stunning visuals and haunting sound design. Sneaking through plague-ridden villages while avoiding swarms of rats and ruthless soldiers kept me on edge the whole time. If you're into narrative-driven adventures with a dark twist, this one's a must-play.
I highly recommend this game and will definitely buy another version of this game after this version is finished.
A great game and a great story. 5/5
Really fire, its good enough to hook someone who isnt even playing the game but rather is watching me play it. fire game 8.3/10
Absolutely loved this game! So much about it was very good: the foundation of the story and everything supporting it such as using rats as a mechanic to implement puzzles works really well and fosters feelings of depravity, which helps the scenario wonderfully. The characters are well done, voice acting is great, and a lot of variety in game play keeps this interesting from start to finish. Must play!
With its storytelling and visuals, it truly feels like a digital literary art. While some levels can be challenging, the game flows like a novel without disrupting the story’s pacing too much. The interactions and bonds between the characters are well-implemented, and the game successfully immerses you in the atmosphere it aims to feel. I haven't played the sequel yet, but before jumping into it, this is a game you can sink into your sofa and finish in a weekend.. Since it's an older game, it goes on sale from time to time.
Excellent storytelling and an outstanding atmosphere. Gameplay combines stealth, puzzle solving, and group combat. Gear progression is highly satisfying because it allows for greater customization of gameplay, however crafting ammo might be a bit much at times.
Gameplay: 9/10
Storytelling :10/10
Characters: 8/10 (I want to knock Hugo's head sometimes)
Soundtrack: 8/10
Graphic: 10/10
A Plague Tale: Innocence was a frustrating experience for me. I finished the game, but it was so tedious that I sometimes wished the rats would just devour me. I found myself pushing through to complete it, always believing I was close to the end, but I ended up dragging it out for more hours than I would have liked. While the gameplay has some interesting and innovative aspects, it is extremely linear and repetitive. The story also failed to impress me, and I've probably forgotten half of what happened. Now, I find myself doubting whether I should give the sequel in the series a chance.
Absolutely beautiful game, its very story driven and the reviews keep talking about the mechanics but I was completely immersed in the game. Absolute must play
