Assassin's Creed® Unity

This game gave me cancer. There is not a single redeeming quality about it. Story, characters, gameplay, side content, combat, stealth, parkour, it's all terrible. I know it takes place in France, but that is not an excuse to have it be literal fecal matter. Previous AC games gave you the option to purchase maps so every collectible item became visible on the map, this one doesn't. So you can imagine how unpleasant of an experience it is if there are over 400 collectibles to gather. The 'riddles' and murder mysteries are also godawful. A bunch of cryptic bullshit combined with popups that overlap on your hud. The biggest pain is knowing that nobody was fired over this level of incompetence. Thanks for adding achievements though, I love torturing myself with crap like this. Dear Ubisoft, I'll be awaiting your upcoming bankruptcy with great anticipation. Good riddance!

A very badly optimized broken mess. The UI and UX are just horrible. Missions are very boring and enemies are literally the same 3 dudes all the time. Would not recommend to anyone. You'd have to be a die hard fan of AC for it to be worth it.

honestly beautiful game, solid parkour and game play mechanics, pretty straight forward and fun to play/beat! also the co op is still active and gives some extra content to play with friends! recently added achievements as well.

Immersive Parkour & Stunning World Interrupted by Bugs

I finally get what why people say “Unity was the last proper Assassin’s Creed game”, in fact, it was more of an AC game than some previous entries.

I wanted to play this game for a very long time, ever since its release, but thankfully I only got to play it years after, when all the release bugs and issues were all fixed and removed, it feels like the whole world beta tested for you and you’re getting to enjoy the full product at last. Expect, there were still a few issues left with the game, but none grave enough to ruin the experience.

The story was kind of a let down, although very unique in premise, the side quests were fun enough, and Paris itself was the star of the show, it has so much life in it, even though ironically, it’s going through its darkest period. The music is fantastic, and the graphics? The best Assassin’s Creed ever looked.

The online scene is still barely alive, thanks to a few small communities trying to revive it, you can still catch a few co-op sessions occasionality.

Underrated Game, give it a try and you will be amazed for how good it is!! 9/10

I usually don't bother writing reviews but this time I had to make an exception: the game itself looks great and the design and the setting are absolutely awesome but the controls are so utterly terrible that the game feels unplayable. Trying to control Arno's movements is just a gamble and if he doesn't do what you intended him to do (which happens in too high a number of cases), you will be surrounded by ten guards within seconds, who magically appear out of nowhere. I finally decided to uninstall Unity during the eleventh sequence since the story is not that gripping either.
I like a challenge and difficult games but unfortunately, this one just drives me insane...

best parkour in the franchise absolute W that was shadowed by a horrific launch honestly such a tragic AC in terms of story but a must play for fans and those who are interested

This 10 year old Assassins Creed set during the French Revolution is quickly becoming my favorite Assassins Creed game.

I'm having such a blast with it. The French Revolution time period is awesome (and a perfect setting for an Assassins Creed game tbh) and the developers clearly put a lot of love into it, the story is great, the protagonist is great, and the detail in this game is just incredible. I'm blown away that this game came out in 2014 yet looks this good right now in 2024, almost 2025, and has the crazy amount of detail that it does.

I was also overjoyed to see the developers finally put Steam achievements in the game, that was a sweet surprise for sure.

I highly recommend Assassins Creed Unity, it's a sensational game and a must have if you consider yourself a fan of French history & a fan of the series.

It looks and plays really beautifully on Steam Deck.

can't even play the game because of ubisoft launcher, it automatically sets the language to russian and i can't change it from anywhere, so i tried putting in some english language packs and tried running the game like that but now it's asking for activation key which i don't have and can't find anywhere, this is not the only instance i came across this same problem with ubisoft launcher, it did the same thing on far cry 4 and watch dogs 2.

This game was disappointing to me. The game for the most part is fun and the setting works really well for Assassin's Creed. There are a few hang ups I have that make it hard for me to keep playing when I have so many other games to play and only have a few hours each day. One, the game feels clunky. Free running, walking around, or leaps of faith don't feel right. When that's most of the game, it starts getting to you. Two, the story isn't that good. The game doesn't do enough to make you understand why Arno joins the Assassins. He get's screwed, someone important to him (who has about a min of screen time) gets killed, who I didn't even recognize because I barely saw him. Three, you have to sign into a Ubisoft account to even play which is annoying.

I've decided to play this game after Ubisoft finally added achievements but damn it is not a good experience at all. Actually, I can't even complete the damn game. Why?

1. Multiplayer; I've tried to play with my friend together multiple times but Ubisoft just won't let me. No matter what game or internet settings I change it gives us the same error. Very weird since I can play with randoms with no problems.

2. Parkour; Unity has by far the worst parkour I've ever seen in an AC game. It just doesn't work 50% of the time. There are some cool animations, sure, but the gameplay aspect of the parkour is just bad. I always jump on something I didn't want to jump on and vice versa. Horrible.

3. Weirdly enough, achievements; It's been 10 years since Ubisoft released Unity and just like people back then were complaining about one specific achievement, so will I now. Master Architect achievement still doesn't pop 50% of the time for no reason whatsoever and I am definitely not playing a new save just because of Ubisoft's incompetence to fix their damn game. A real shame.

4. Stealth; I don't know if the newer AC titles I've played became more forgiving or enemies in this game have literal wallhacks but I didn't really feel like an assassin in this game. Half the time I had to resort to melee because some eagle-eyed fuck revealed me across the entire map. I am not even talking about the absence of whistling or some other mechanic to lure single enemy.

5. Uplay login; Why the ever-loving fuck do I need to enter my uplay password EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME I LAUNCH THE GAME? I am just pissed off at this point. What were you thinking Ubisoft?

I really appreciate the Steam achievements Ubisoft but fix your damn game first because it's borderline unplayable. I sincerely hope Black Flag is not going to meet the same fate.

The game is set during the French Revolution and will have you meet many characters from history some known some not well known. Some people you will get to see in the game are Napoleon Bonaparte, Robespierre, Danton, Mirabeau, King Louis, the man who invented the guillotine. I personally liked the love dynamic of the story with a Templar and an Assassin in love. Be warned the ending for me was kind of depressing to be honest.

The login system is so messed up, it makes me not want to play the game. My account got suspended just because I entered the wrong password once. Please fix it and make it easier for me to enjoy the game.

Прошло 10 лет. Помнится, как в далеких 2014-2015 годах по интернету ходила молва, мол ACU неоптимизированный кусок чтобы там ни было, с обилием багов и прочее-прочее-прочее. Даже помню нарезки на YouTube с летающими или внезапно пропадающими NPC, мыльными или отсутствующими текстурами и полной необъяснимой комедией, которая происходила с игрой.

В игру хотелось проиграть очень давно, поскольку был заворожен ее трейлером и осознанием, что все действие будет происходить в Париже, поглощенным Французской революцией. И вот прошло какое-то время, Ubisoft учудили глобальную распродажу, и наконец мне в руки попала купленная за $5 копия, считайте, что даром.

Из хорошего могу отметить, что даже сейчас игра выглядит невероятно красиво. Очень сильно доставило проработка окружения – несколько раз отрывался от основного геймплейного цикла, чтобы просто походить по улочкам и полюбоваться архитектурой, суетой местных, грязными сырыми переулками, и красивыми видами, открывающимися с крыш дворцов и соборов. Можно посетить Notre-Dame de Paris, взобраться на Pantheon, Palais du Luxembourg, Eglise Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais и множество других Парижских достопримечательностей. И даже, в какой-то отрезок игры, можно будет полазить по всеми известной Tour Eiffel, а также краем глаза посмотреть на Париж и в другие временные отрезки.

Приятно удивил сюжет. Не сказать, что он превосходен и гениален, глубокий и проработанный, но после себя оставил приятное послевкусие. За событиями и персонажами интересно наблюдать. Чем-то отчасти сюжет напомнил вторую часть, а в основном, чувствуется такой неплохой детективчик, где главный герой идет мстить и исправлять свои ошибки, раскрывая великие заговоры. Добрую часть игры стримил друзьям в Discord, и услышал, наверное, самое точное описание этой игры: «Unity интересно смотреть… Но не играть».

И чтоб тебя леший дрючил.

Скажу так. Я большой любитель open-world игр, готовый потратить приличное количество времени на закрытие все побочных активностей, выполнение всех достижений и так далее. Хлебом меня не корми, дай пропылесосить все локации, собрать все коллекции и не дай Бог, я что-то не попытаюсь закрыть на 100%. Но ACU – первая игра, за долгое время, в которой я упоролся в прохождение сюжетных квестов, лишь бы поскорее досмотреть сюжет и забыть ее как страшный сон.

Прошло 10 лет. Игра все так же является забагованным куском изделия. При первом запуске была какая-никакая надежда, что спустя столько времени Ubisoft что-то все же доделали, починили и доработали.

Нет.

Я давно не играл в Ассасинов, и, может быть, в моей памяти что-то не так отложилось, но управлять героем просто невыносимо. Во время прыжков ты пролетаешь все что можно пролететь и летишь лицом в асфальт, откатываясь на последний сейв. Пробегая мимо всяких кочек, дощечек и маленьких заборчиков начинается едреная комедия с тем, что Арно запрыгивает на эту кочку и закрепляется на ней, от чего при попытке открепиться совершает прыжок в выбранную случайно игрой сторону. Во время замеса с противником можно случайно напороться на такую штуку, от чего ты будешь сидеть на этой кочке и получать по лицу, поскольку атаковать в ответ ты больше не сможешь, пока не открепишься. В помещениях сражаться – себя не уважать. Был момент, когда Арно каким-то образом прилип к пролету лестницы, из-за чего нельзя было совершить никаких действий. Приходилось со слезами на глазах смотреть, как меня добивают с десяток слетевшихся врагов и отлетать на начало миссии. И вот напряженная ситуация: ты пытаешься скрыться от преследующих тебя врагов, забегаешь в какой-то темный переулок и случайно натыкаешься на долбанную тележку с сеном – Арно остановится, запрыгнет в эту тележку, вспомнит что за ним гонятся, вылезет из этой тележки (все так же в случайную сторону), достанет свою шпагу, и к этому моменту будет уже мертв, потому что врагам относительно плевать на то, какие у тебя проигрываются анимации – они будут стрелять, пинать, бить, кромсать тебя до последнего…

С прогрессией в игре произошел забавный случай. Как оказывается, все, даже самые высокоуровневые пушки доступны для покупки с самого начала игры. Где-то на третьем-четвертом часу изучение игрового мира, мне на глаза попалась катана за 25.000 валюты, которую можно купить через главное меню – торговцы в игре сделаны чисто ради пополнения расходников. Побегав немного по побочкам (тогда я еще был молод и наивен), где-то за минут 30-40 геймплея я нужную суму… И прошел с этой катаной всю игру. Противники до третьего уровня отлетали за один удар. Для третьего надо было сделать удара два-три. Для четвертых-пятых удара три-четыре. И первую половину игры я то и делал, что просто аннигилировал всю живое, пока не стали попадаться противники, умеющие уклоняться, блокировать и парировать мои атаки.

И тут как бы тоже момент… Складывается ощущение, что сами разработчики либо устали, либо сильно не успевали по срокам. Поэтому вторая половина игры представляла из себя слешер уровня MGR, только с упоротым и неудобным управлением. Первые сюжетные миссии, в особенности миссии с убийством конкретной цели, меня приятно удивили. Тебе давали локацию, показывали возможные пути входа-отхода, возможности для убийства, возможности заручиться чей-либо поддержкой, возможностью поднять шум или как-то отвлечь добрую часть врагов, чтобы, расчистив себе путь, аккуратно подобраться к цели и убить ее. И вот это прям тот самый Assassin’s Creed, который я хотел видеть. Но ближе к концу игру, где-то последние глав пять-шесть, эти миссии превратились в «вот тебе короче 60 противников уровня 4-5… Эээ… Короче, вот открытая локация, спрятаться особо не где, а куда бы ты не пошел, какой-нибудь придурок это обязательно увидит… Давай воткнем тебе еще сигнальных колоколов штук дцать на район, чтобы уж наверняка… Вооот. Ну.. Это… Давай еще миссию разделим на несколько этапов, и вот ко второму этапу ты должен при себе иметь вот такие-вот расходники, но мы про это тебе точно не скажем». И все эти миссии превращались в то, что приходилось просто выкуривать определенную пачку врагов на себя, скидывать под ноги дымовую шашку (покуда без нее тебя просто окружают и избивают), и через боль и слезы зачищать такие пачки штука за штукой. А после, обыскивать каждый труп и надеяться на волшебную баночку с хилкой, поскольку поймать в лицо выстрел с мушкета будет стоить 75% потраченного здоровья. Как же я натерпелся с этими открытыми пространствами, где для маневра вообще никаких опций нет. А больше всего доставило, что начали появляться эпизоды, где пройти скрытно вообще никаких возможностей нет, ибо тебе пихают прямой коридор, в конце которого стоит враг. Пистолетом до него не дотянуться (не спрашивайте), а пока будешь к нему бежать, он успеет тебя спалить, поднять тревогу и еще вдогонку стрельнуть из ружья.

Итого. Игру прошел, сюжет посмотрел. Из побочек полностью закрыл только первые три района, на остальное просто отбило интерес из-за описанного выше ужаса. Хотелось бы попробовать совместные миссии, которых раскидано по карте тьма-тьмущая, но просидев в поиске игроков с десять минут понял, что немного опоздал с этим. Совместные квесты, конечно, можно пройти и в одиночку, но хотелось все же попробовать тот опыт, который изначально и задумывался. Еще есть два DLC, но проходить их, по крайне мере сейчас, я точно уже не намерен.

Ставлю игре свои 4.5 / 10.

The game requires to login into UBISOFT CONNECT upon launching, but I am unable to login with my existing UBISOFT CONNECT account for some reason (it keep saying Connection lost whenever I tried to login). I've also attempted to create new UBISOFT CONNECT account from multiple platforms (using the PC app/android/website etc) but still unable to create a new account for some reason.... its very upset that such a fun game having with the issue above.... big dissapoinment to UBISOFT.....

It's the second-best Assasin's Creed game, just behind AC Brotherhood. It's a shame the optimisation was poor at launch (It still is if you don't have a decent PC) The story is good, but the gameplay is fantastic, and the parkour mechanics are top-notch. I recommend checking out a few yt guides, as the game doesn't provide enough information to fully understand and master the movement. This game features coop missions, and it's a fantastic experience to synchronize assassinations with your friends. I strongly encourage to give this game a chance, as it offers a great Assassin's Creed experience.

Didnt even play the game because I cant even start it. Whats the point of a third party launcher? Just let me play the goddamn game with my steam account that I bought the game on STEAM.

Not to mention when I open the game it forces my laptop to open "Ubisoft connect" that takes unecessary 6 minutes just to say "No Connection" when my wifi is completely fine. When I press "Go offline" it literally killed itself.

The last "real" Assassin's Creed; it's the best one. The best stealth, the best combat, the best environment, the best parkour, the best graphics, combo'd with a good story and includes a nice follow-up from Rogue. It's always going to be buggy, but with some mods it can reach a level of quality double that of modern Ubislop releases.

I am so frustrated. I played this game on Xbox One and loved it. I was actually looking foward to trying this buggy mess again. Despite it's flaws, I still think it's amazing.

So tell me why I can't play my ******* game. I keep trying to make a UConnect account, but the servers are down so I can't login. There's an offline launch option- but it only works if you've logged in once before. What happens once Ubisoft goes out of business an their servers are shut down? It's only a matter of time at this point. They can't even sell a star wars game.

Great game- not sure how it is on PC cause I can't play it. May refund because I could potentially lose this game forever to some server issue.

EDIT: Finally got logged in, and played a bit. Just tried to launch it again, and now it says this game is linked to another Uconnect account. I'm done, I really want to play it, but I can't.

I definitely would reccomend this game! the map is MASSIVE and the ground is so LOW, and the map FADING after starting a new sequence or memory is really cool! anyway i need some TAPER.

Adding achievements while still keeping the bullshit launcher mandatory, get your shit together Ubisoft! You either get bought by Microsoft of Tencent so just remove the launcher right away because they will for sure!

It was a bad story and less of being an Assassin.
I didn't enjoy it, and there is amazingly a lot of bugs that makes it hard to complete the game in a satisfying way.

Everyone knows that Assassin's Creed Series is one of the best game series ever so i will say it has the most diverse graphics and story line . Yes, there're many issues also like crowd glitch, rendering issue but still it's a full enjoyable game .

French crowds. A French revolution. A French plot. 10/10. The only shame it did not take one step further with multiplayer - aka never introduced a truly multiplayer-with-friends open-world exp, not just missions.

It really is not. Texture pop-in, NPC popping in, changing models. Buildings popping out/in if you're 20M away.

The Graphics are so jaw-dropping, you’d swear it was made in 2024..
Even after 10 years, it still looks better than many modern titles... (Better than CONCORD)
And Paris? It’s unreal.. The city is so beautifully detailed, i am pretty sure you'll be on a tour of this city rather than doing the missions... Every street, every building, every corner feels alive.
Despite its rocky launch, this game’s visuals remain some of the best you’ll see....

I played this game all the way back when the xbox one came out. Ever since haven't really touched the game and just now bought it again, this time on steam however. Still, the game truly delivers. It is just a phenomenal experience. Truly recommend it for someone looking to play AC with their friends or for someone that just wants a really solid AC game.
