Underrated / Overhated
A good but not masterpiece game that now works flawlessly with no glitches (to the extent it was memed on)
Amazing setting , pretty eh story but great stealth
Enemy AI can be utterly stupid as always but still a good fun game
very fun game, the story is good, graphics and Gameplay are too. i would reccomend to platinum this game and get all the trophies, i'm trying to get them all currently right now.
Im conflicted about this game. On one hand it has the best parkour system Assassin's Creed will ever have, on the other hand the game is still a technical mess, there are bugs everywhere and runs terrible, dipping to 45 fps in most crowded areas on my powerful PC, and experiencing crashes while trying to play Coop (look up "Windows 11 Fix for AC Valhalla", also works on Unity).
Other good things is the graphics which were pretty advanced for the time. Paris feels alive with all the crowds and the French Revolution feels genuine, the soundtrack is very good and it has Coop so you can play with a friend.
One huge bad thing is the story. The game is supposed to be set during the French Revolution but the campaign is about a revenge/love story of the protagonist whose adoptive father, the Templar Grand Master, got killed by Templar conspirators and both Arno and his lover Elise (daughter of Grand Master, also Templar) are hunting them, and the revolution is on the background, though the Templars use it for their own needs while the Assassins are against it (????).
It really is a nonsensical plot that undermines what was built at the end of Assassin's Creed Rogue. The game was supposed to pick up on Arno hunting down the Templars who killed his REAL ASSASSIN FATHER, not his ADOPTIVE TEMPLAR FATHER, and eventually getting to Shay Patrick Cormac being the Templar Grand Master in Paris, but that is too good of a revenge story for the incompetent writers at Ubisoft to think about.
I finished this game with 100% achievements in around 60 Hours, to do that you have to open every single chest around the map, which is a effing slog. I recommend this game only to completitionist and AC fans, although the modern story is practically non-existant here.
this game is super fun theres AMAZING story and a lot of skill in the game its one of my all time favorites although it can be slightly buggy at times (that might just be for me)
Game had a rough launch, but today, it stands as one of the most visually stunning in the AC series. Absolutely worth playing :)
P.S Download the ACUFIXES MOD, makes the game 10x better.
Another stealthy game of the Assassin's Creed collection and holy sh*t! I don't want to say something bad about Mirage, but the developer should have learned something from this well-developed game. ACU also has a captivating story, a extremely smooth parcour system and a large selection of weapons and clothes, with which you can fully costumize your assassin. It would be a lie if I would said I never got bored while playing some missions but that's why Co-Op exists :)
All in all a wonderful game and I highly recommend to buy Assassin's Creed Unity.
Even in 2025 this game is visually stunning and the stealth system is fantastic.
As a die-hard Ezio fan, I'd still say this is the most enjoyable Assassin's Creed game to play.
10/10 would play again
and again...
Another Ubisoft disappointment, crashes every 20 minutes especially on the end mission cutscene. cringe af
The only horrifying thing about this game is that you're French.
Otherwise, great game 10/10 would co-op again.
The story felt like a watered down Ezio's story crammed into one movie.
The multiplayer aspect of this game is absolutely amazing, if only UBISOFT didn't fumble.
I miss AC of this era. Story is OK. Paris is beautiful. Co- op is fun and better with friends, love it!
I hate the launcher, cannot play offline because it need to be online with ubisoft laucher
textures dont load, often game-breaking
Best AC game out there. Pls remaster or do something with this game im begging
Combat= bad
parkour= good
lag= big
story= mid high
arno= ahh
setting= good
overall: mid
You know, I could almost forgive the lacklustre combat, the awkward free running, the off-kilter stealth, the shoddy exploration, the poorly-planned skills tree, the frustrating lockpicking, the hard-to-solo co-op missions (since co-op is no longer available), or even the goofy-ass animations. But holy shit, this is the worst story in an Assassins Creed game so far. Who the fuck were those other assassins next to Mirabeau all the time? Why were they important? Why are there virtually no revolutionaries in the game? What the fuck was Bellec doing? What was even Germain's end game? What did Arno even think of the revolution? What did ANYONE think of the revolution?
The revolution in general literally isn't looked at or discussed throughout the entirety of the main story other than, maybe, one or two lines that Arno throws in (and a fucking stupid monologue in the credits). Just such a fucking disappointing approach to one of the most interesting points of modern history. And Assassins Creed can do this properly. For all the flaws of 3, the detail in its portrayal of the American War of Independence is on point.
Anyway, Paris is great. One of the best portrayals of a city in any video game. It's the main character, really. Not sure that's a good thing though.
Once again fucked by a third party launcher.
Valve, please, if any of your employees are reading this, FUCKING PLEASE, ban third party launchers being shoehorned into Steam purchases. I bought the game, I own the game, I shouldn't have to rely on Ubisoft Connect being functional in order to play the game.
It signed me out for the 50 billionth time in a row, and won't let me sign back in because "A Ubisoft service is unavailable". I've checked, and their servers aren't down. My system clock isn't inaccurate. Ubisoft Connect is just a massive pile of dogshit.
PROS: I'm a sucker for great environment design, this is one of the best video game maps I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Absolutely gorgeous! The game being set during the french revolution is such a genius idea, because i can't get enough of this world. It's a violent, chaotic, living, breathing world that doesn't calm down. Combining this with the excellent parkour makes exploring this world a treat.
CONS: The writing is the complete opposite. They give us one of the most likeable Assassin's Creed protagonist in Arno, but limit his potential throughout the game. His chemistry with Elise is perfect, but the entire romance feels like an afterthought, which is surprising considering how much their relationship plays into the 1st two hours of the game. They barely give the characters any breathing room, be it the relationship b/w the two leads, or just them individually. Which makes Elise's death so much more pointless, mean-spirited, and unearned. Arno loses every single person he ever cares about against the backdrop of the french revolution, and that is pretty much the entire overarching story of this game.
I'm sorry, Arno & Elise. You deserved so much better. You had so much potential. But, the same can be said about the game itself.
I had a blast playing this game and will definitely revisit it in the future, but the overall writing and especially the ending is EXTREMELY disappointing.
The Graphics of this game for its time is MIND BLOWING. Awesome game with too much NPC which they were able to render for the French Revolution. Praised now after the latest entries for the Parkour. Plagued with bugs during release. Definitely Underrated and awesome entry in AC Series. Have fun with friends getting rekt by the AI bots in game until you level up and get used to the combat. Definitely Recommended!!!
``ASSASSIAN'S CREED UNITY`` peak of ac series and ubisoft. this game is 11 years old and still no ac games can beat its graphics,parkour and game mechanics . there are some minor bugs but aside that everything is just awesome.
Best assassins creed I've played. The movement mechanics are at peak. The storyline was also pretty good. Sadly we don't get a hook at the end where you're left to wonder about the next game.
This game is all about Visuals(saying that always considering its age),which are absolutly amazing.Combat mechanics are quite poor,the npc's are lifeless,and the quests seem insanly repetitive.If you are looking for a sweatheart casual story with some satisfying parkoor,assasinations and visuals thats a great game to get into.Nothing else to expect Im afraid,but me personally i had a good time playing it.
this game has a lot of potential but its barely a stealth game with its shitty ai, game breaking bugs and terrible optimization, the amount of clipping and jittering breaks the immersion every few seconds, I don't recommend it
Good game, but Ubisoft Connect is the worst shit i have ever used.
This game man! Where do I even start with.
It has the nostalgia for me personally
A lot of bugs as expected since the wan't even finished and it is made by ubibug
The Story is good.
It recently got it's achivements update, however it is pain to perfect it but whatever.
I would recommend it if it's on sale.
(It can be better with some mods, but it there is a limit to the mods yk)
The world and graphics are still stunning in 2025
The gameplay is quite difficult from the previous AC series, the parkour mechanics are the coolest of all the AC series, very satisfying
love AC games, specifically this game has her own place in my heart. obviously not the best part but good enough
i absolutely love this game and the franchise, tempted to buy all the AC games (i eventually will.)
Unity is an okay game. And if you're a fan of Assassin's Creed in general, I definitely recommend it today. However, Unity lacks a compelling story and worse: it lacks engaging characters, except for Arno. I played it just to complete the story and didn't feel inclined to complete it 100%. The gameplay is the best thing about Unity and should keep you hooked enough to complete the main story.
Magnetic Anno, numerous bugs are absolutely by far the most frustrating disasters
its a good game but little bug in the game
The setting looks really nice and the atmosphere is great, but the game is just a total mess of bugs and messy controls. Getting stuck, being unable to move, unable to fight. Jumping/climbing is a mess.
Buy this when it's in a huge sale.
I brought this game technically to sign in ubisoft app every time i open the game .Ubisoft doesnt learn from thier mistakes glithches in watch dogs 2 for rtx cards and now this sign in issues for every time i open this games. I am sure the dont have time to fix these issues as we dont own these games and should be comfortable with it.
Surprisingly good.
After having just finished AC Mirage (the latest in the series), I picked this one up on sale. What a surprise. It outshines Mirage in every single dimension.
I'll use Mirage as a comparison in this review since both titles seem to be aiming at the core of what made people appreciate the AC series to begin with:
* Story: A simple revenge plot with some contrived and forced events to propel the main arc forward, but one that suffices as a vehicle for changing the world now and then. After finishing the game, I actually remember the plot and some events, while I don't remember a single thing from Mirage (that's how flat that title was). The plot seems there only to propel you between different templar takedown events and not much more. So a Meh story, far below the Ezio tale, but still way above Mirage.
* Voice acting: It's not even a comparison. Whereas Mirage had you turn off the audio for the tripe lines and horrendous acting that detracted from game immersion, in this one the VO actually accentuates it. The VO is very good, almost across the board.
* Gameplay: It's slower paced than the titles that came before it, but faster paced than Mirage. Likewise, the climbing is a bit jankier than the titles prior, but still better than Mirage. So a mixed bag on world traversal. As for combat, it has great animations that clearly signal hits and misses. Large variety of weapons and gadgets to spice up the loop of dispatching enemies. One irritating element is that all enemies for some reason seem to constantly single out Arno (the player character), give chase and hunt him down, even when there should be no reason for them to, since he's not some famous Napoleon Bonaparte nor someone with a wanted poster all over the city. This forces you to a gameplay of constantly looking for "red or blue" icons on the minimap, or use eagle vision (sort of a sonar) to spot each trio of those mobs and then circle around them. A weird design choice, in fact the only one that irritated me, which detracted from the immersion.
* Leveling: This seems to have been the title in which Ubi moved the AC series from skills based to stats based, which paved the way for Origins and the rest, all other _types_ of game than the traditional AC formula; Stats gated gameplay instead of skills based. The game uses the level/hitpoint-gating mechanism, meaning instead of telling you "We want to do a BUNCH of side activities now!", it instead inflates the hitpoints and damage output of enemies instead, to get the same message across. This enemy leveling is so prevalent that you are forced to do all kinds of side-activities just to bolster some stats, weapons and armor, since at various points through the story the game will inflate the levels of enemies, with each level essentially multiplying the amount of HP and damage of enemies. This leveling is so drastic that one minute you might have had no problem dispatching a mob trio with a few blocks and swings, but the next it seems your weapon and armor having become a wet tissue doing about as much damage and giving you as little protection. As such you're forced into a certain gameplay of doing a bunch of side activities to not only earn money, but also "unlock" the "privilege" of upgrading some stat or gear, something you have to do in order to stand a chance in any combat from that point on. And to ensure you're not able to sneak and assassinate your way around these forced activities that you may want to skip for now and return to later, the game also increases the density of the mobs so that sneaking without open conflict becomes all but impossible. Overall, this is a very ham-fister way of forcing the player to do things, whether the player wants to or not. Now, as for the central events of the game; the templar assassinations, they are very well done in that they offer both interesting locales and a number of ways (freedom) to go about the assassination. This was the complete opposite to Mirage and felt like a breath of fresh air in comparison.
* Graphics. One word; Gorgeous. Astounding city of Paris, bustling with activity and feeling populated. Each district has its own distinct feel to it. Lots of verticality allowing you to parkor to your heart's content. Close to a masterpiece of open world and map design. The character and facial animations are great. On the whole everything visual is an order of magnitude better than in AC mirage when played on Ultra (highest) graphics setting.
* Stability Ultra stable. Not a single crash through my entire play-through.
* Bugs (in 2025): There is some stuttering now and then, noticeable when the camera pans at an even pace, such as during the region unlock sequences where the camera circles around you. I also ran into two occasions where the avatar (Arno) was stuck frozen in spot but in a weird running animation. Had to reload the last save to get out of it. Overall, these bugs were few and far between and did not detract from the overall immersion of the game.
Bought this in 2025 at a heavy discount, but had I known how good this was I'd have bought it at full price even.
Finally, this is more than a decade old by now, but still outshines ubisoft's latest offering by an unbelievable margin. If you missed playing this title, I don't think you'll regret giving it a shot. I'd rate it as the third best in the series, after Black Flag and Revelations. It's a close third for me, almost tied second with Revelations.
Co op server good but bugs still from 2014
this game is really cool feel like real assassin but too many bugs in in online and sometimes the parkour do not work smoothly but still better than new assassins creed games . it gives real assassins vibes .
I played this game on PS, i have over 400 hours on it, both in multiplayer and single player. The main reason I find myself always coming back to this game is the parkour system. I just can't ever get enough. It really feels unique with how fluid it is, alongside all the possible routes you have. Furthermore, it really compliments the stealth aspect of the game very well, trying to stay high and out of sight and staying away from everyone's view while doing a ghost run is one of the most fun challenges I've done on this game. I really only bought it to try out a bunch of quality of life mods I keep seeing PC players have. I would totally suggest this AC to any person beginning with the franchise over the older ACs.
Lost the disc on console, me sad, get the game on pc, me happy, No more Bugs, Me happy, new achievements, Me Happy. Good game, make me happy
Truth be told, this is my least liked AC game period. I see so many reviews about how they fixed all the bugs and stuff that came at launch. But in my experience, its just as buggy and janky as ever. And it seems no matter what i do to be stealthy, every "stealth" mission, quickly ends in me massacring 20 people because one dude who isnt even a guard placed by the mission instant aggroing onto me. Idk, maybe im just bad, but every other game im fine in. This on the other hand, worst AC experience by far
I truly Recommend this game to Ezio Trilogy Purists. Its the closest newer-ish AC that can scratch that itch. Featuring the Up-Down System In parkour.
I really love this game for the fighting, parkour(though a bit janky), the story and the fantastic online addition with friends. Playing together in ones world, missions or the cream of the crop. Heists... So many dynamics and different ways to go about them. They are increasingly difficult but the payouts are major. Reminds me of Payday 2. Really a great game. When youre alone though, theres so much depth and context with the games story. All around classic redemption arc. Very similar to Ezio but a lot less traumatizing lmao. They also added ending sequence "Rifts" where you plunge into alternate time periods in france. One of which being in WW1. One of my favorite teasers towards a AC WW1 game. Man i dreamed that game would come to fruition for so long.
Theres a lot more i could add on but the online portion seriously is top tier in this rendition of AC. The fact they havent brought back heist with friends is actually mind blowing. But theres still no way they could match this.
Cop on G2A on the low. VV Worth
But all around ill give it a 4.3/5.
I hate the guys with guns. Total BS, I'll be stabbing a guy, then get freaking shot 47 times by 5 different people. The best part about this game is when you get to stab the guys with guns to death, then steal all of their belongings.
This game is one of my favourite. But please fix the graphics bug, I can't even play the game.It's so shuttering
My laptop spec is rtx 4060, even in the low settings I can't play. If you fix this issue the game will be one favourite for all. Please fix this issue.
I'm honestly surprised with how good this game was, obviously it doesn't come close to games like AC2 and (for me) Brotherhood, but it's a fun game minus a few annoying bugs like getting stuck or (for some people) the game freezing entirely
If you aren't a fan of how new AC feels to play then this might be a game worth trying when it's on sale, 7/10
Im having problems with the Ubisoft servers, so its not letting me play the game. Good game in general.
The game didn't age well. There are a lot of annoying things that ruin the game like the login page - everytime when you start the game you have to enter your Ubisoft Connect password. There are many game breaking bugs that require you to restart the game like the infinite falling glitch.
The story is fine, but the 100% process is very tedious. Open. Every. Chest.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.
I have to re-enter my Ubisoft Connect password every time it launches, and even then it'll just display "Ubisoft Connect service is unavailable". I CANNOT access the game I PAID FOR.
I've had enough. DO NOT buy Ubisoft's older titles. Just pirate it and you'll have better user experience. Don't pay these incompetent scums.
underrated, gameplay is 10/10, good story, the fits are so peak, and one of the greatest things about this game is its environment, atmosphere and graphics especially this being made in 2014. I also love how it is set in the French Revolution. Recommend.
Literally only leaving a negative review because of the Ubisoft Connect login. Every single time you launch this game through Steam, it's going to ask you to re-enter your Ubisoft password to play the game.
Every.
Single.
Time.
Ubisoft is offering games on Steam to get your money, but they're doing everything possible to make it a negative experience so that you'll go back to Ubisoft Connect. Want to keep through Steam, but while the game is great it's not worth having to login everytime I want to play it when I can just do what Ubisoft wants and play it through Ubisoft Connect instead...
Beat it back on PS4 probably 8-9 years ago.
This is arguably the best assassins creed game, or at least the final one to actually FEEL like Assassins Creed.
The graphical and mechanical improvements with the slower and more methodical parkour were a nice change and make it unique. Even with the 2hers and spears it still felt right.
The story was very MEH compared to Assassins creed 1-4 but hey, every assassins creed is meh compared to 1-4.
Another makeover of the Assasins Creed Franchise. Nice World, but boring and repetitive gameplay. The need for in game purchase to be able to fully upgrade arno is a joke. All in all a disappointment and probably the last ubisoft game i bought.
