really bad ai and bad audio design.
Assassin's Creed Unity is a pretty good game, although there are some glitches. I would recommend it if you're into Assassin's Creed and can get it at a discount.
The storyline is pretty good, but what I really love about this game is the parkour—it’s amazing and more varied than others. However, there are still a few bugs in the parkour mechanics. I’d recommend using some mods to optimize the gameplay for a better experience. Lastly, I’m really impressed with the environment and the detailed structure of buildings depicting the city of Paris in the game.
What a banger, possibly the last AC that follows the "old formula" and it does it really well. They made Paris incredibly gorgeous and the story wasnt half bad, 8/10
Game is good and enjoyable and it atleast feels like an assassins creed game.
Great gameplay and graphics so far , no wonder why it's still 29,99$ after 10 years
A hit or miss AC game but it's an enjoyable experience compared to the RPG trilogy. This and Syndicate was probably the last "true" AC game that we had.
I think everyone can remember how bad the launch of this game was. Terrible performance, bugs galore, problems everywhere. Ubisoft deserves all criticism for the state this game was in.
BUT
After the years when the issues were fixed, it might be my favourite AC game. No joke. It still holds up graphically, has the best parkour in the series, Paris looks stuning, the crowd tech is insane and the story, characters and gameplay are very fun. I loved coming back to it after many years and now it's one of the best if not the best AC games.
I would recommend this to fans of the series overall but even after 10 years there are still some issues.
- NPCs pop in randomly while running around the open world
- Distant buildings are blurred and ugly even on max settings
- The story is hard to follow and not that interesting
- The stealth during missions makes no sense (loudly kill 10 guys in one room but the guys in the next room are still asleep).
- If you're expecting a Hitman or Sniper Elite approach to stealth, you will be disappointed as there is very little choice with how to approach objectives. Targets will rarely move from there spawn point. You can raise 20 alarms and they are somehow still surprised to see you.
Other things are done really well though
- Parkour is some of the best in the series
- Open world at street level is beautiful
- Character customization and variety of gear let you choose the way you fight and look
- Combat can be a little janky but really satifying when it works
6/10
This is my autism game, don't take my word for it. I've loved the Assassin's Creed franchise but Unity is my favorite. The jank gives the game its charm and once you learn it, it's smooth sailing. The graphics are pretty baller in comparison to older AC games, seeing as it came out in 2014. The story's pretty good for what I've played of it. I desperately needed this game and bought it while it was on sale, cus 30 bucks is insane in this economy.
I've been going back and playing all of the Assassin's Creed games, as I missed many of them and really have come around to loving the lore and stories.
As with the previous ones, I will update this review as I go through the game.
I never played Unity before, so this is my first time in 2024. Coming from Rogue, and Freedom Cry before that, this is a very different system. You can tell the engine changed. I've heard some bad things about it but honestly, so far at 12 hours in to the game I love it. Arno's character is very much a love letter to young Ezio Auditore, and I think that works really well. The story is a bit stunted at times, and seems to throw things at you with no background... but this isn't so bad that you can't keep up. It's more like you keep wondering if somehow you missed a cutscene somewhere? But overall it is still really good, and I enjoy the main quest chains. The side quests are decent. I actually enjoy stalking enemies through the streets and picking out a place to strike and escape. This is a refreshing feeling coming from Black Flag era where you just hack and slash your way through anything.
This game substantially changes up the combat from the predecessors. In previous games, like Black Flag and Rogue, you were a bit of a juggernaut. Timed parry followed by single click meant death for any normal enemy, other than a lieutenant or heavy. I love those games and that loop was somehow very rewarding but this game is a whole other level. Here, you and enemies both have health bars... no more easy instant kills in open combat. Timed parries are now a stagger mechanic which allow you to get your 3 hit combo off, or whatever you plan to do. It feels so much more intense, and you die so much easier. This is not a game that you hack and slash your way through... draw too much attention and you are toast! I love that. The stealth game was built up here much more than previous games as well. You can now crouch and hide in cover, and you have proximity indicators for hiding in crowds. Sometimes the cover mechanic gets a bit wonky... I think that needed some refining, but it was nice to see.
I enjoy the free running here although I can tell they did have a few improvements they were making along the way. Overall it feels like you have more inertia, but that actually works out. I love the new climb and descend controls. I think my biggest issue is character facing, which still is kind of hit or miss. When you are crouched on a rooftop and trying to jump to a rope, but you cannot get your character to face that direction and he keeps leaping off to a ledge off to one side, for example. That does happen here. There's also a bit of spider-man issues when doing chases, where Arno seems to grab onto everything that goes by and hang on it while your quarry keeps running away. I do kind of wish they had worked that out.
The history here is in full bloom. I heard reviews that were disappointed in this game because it came from large, ocean spanning games like Black Flag and Rogue and basically just gave you one city. This is true but honestly... I see why they did it. First off, after playing through Black Flag, Freedom Cry, and Rogue I am kind of done with the ship stuff. But even then, most of the areas you could play in those were somewhat limited in that there were pathways, specific climbing areas, tree branches laid out... the islands actually got a bit linear. It was the cities in Black Flag that really shined to me, like Havana and Kingston. The same went for Rogue, where New York really had so much more to it than the random islands spread around.
To take it one notch further though, Paris in this game is detailed at a level far beyond what the previous games offered. I read that they were trying to go for a 1:1 scale of the city of Paris at the time, and it really shows. Paris is absolutely stunning in detail. The crowds you see building through the early stages of the revolution are all around you. You aren't called to witness these events but if you are watching, so much of this game takes place in the city around you as you simply move through it.
On the negative side, this appears so far to be a peak of Ubisoft's add-on garbageware phase. This game is full of online shop references, real world currency exchanges, ubisoft clubs, multiplayer references, etc. It hasn't detracted from the story or the gameplay yet, but the menus can be a bit frustrating.
Another thing I've come to realize was how badly Ubisoft wanted this to be a multiplayer game. Closest thing I can think of is GTAV. The map is littered with multiplayer event locations, and you are faced with co-op scenario options every time you come out of the hideout. There's even an "Assassin's Club Room" in the cafe which is really just a proxy for a multiplayer lounge and friend list.
On one hand I understand the rabbit they were chasing but I'm surprised that they ever thought they had a chance of catching it. This was a poor move to make with one of their best single player franchises. I think this is part of what gave this game a bad rep, but I am coming late to the party so who knows.
I am actually really enjoying this game. I'm a fan of the mechanical changes they made, and I feel it makes this much more of a stealth assassin game than the Black Flag era games. The predecessors will always be some of my favorite games, especially Black Flag and Rogue, but this game is a much needed breath of fresh air mechanically and I am really looking forward to the story.
Can't even play this game which i bought because i can't login. i tried everything and also tried to recover the password fucker said it will send an email link still nowhere to be found that link. can't even play the game even though my password and email is same and right and u can't even reset it.
awesome game, fun parkour, very nice combat, good assassination animations.
- Ubisoft Connect dogwater launcher "a Ubisoft service is currently unavailable try again later" prompts anytime I boot the game. By chance if the game does decide to boot, i'm prompted with another error message when I load a save file: "Connection failed Sorry, the required Ubisoft services are currently unreachable. Please try again later (0x70000053)". Ubisoft is a dog, take the entire publisher out back and shoot it. I tested my internet speed 213.37 Mb/s Down, 20.87 Mb/s Up it's not that
- No native Dualshock Playstation controller support. Only supports Microsoft Xbox controllers. Wrong button mapping with Dualshock PS4 & PS5 controllers, controls are mixed and do not function properly. Completely unplayable
- Poor performance & Optimisation. Rough PC port
pros
1.in unity game massive npcs are in whole map it's unique in all assassin's creed franchise.
2.parkour are amazing
3.missions are straight forward
4.Gameplay & environment are nice
5.Weapons & combat are also amazing
Cons
1.Still facing bugs and glitches in gameplay
2.controls are hard
3.if you trigger the alarm all enemies are attack you in same time you can't not survival until you run & hide
This is the best Assassin's Creed game. It just is. Other games have better stories, writing, acting, but none have better gameplay. The amount of time I have spent just free running in this game is nuts. I have replayed this story 3 times now. It's not that good, but the gameplay makes me forgive it all. Imagine if Ubisoft didn't ditch this game right after it dropped. We'd be living the high life rn.
i know that majority of players hate this game for bad optimization and countless bugs, but with the deep cinematics incredible story and amazing storytelling, this game has became my favorite creed game. i feel like, with this game, the series acquire depth in characters and story good enought to create a delightful cinematic experience. satisfying combat and marvelous graphics.
This is the first Assasins't Creed game I've played, and this is because of the song "My Revolution" from Miracle of Sound, I really love your songs Gav!!!
I really loved how places in this game is really matching the reality and history of them. The atmosphere is really great and parkour.
The minuses will be...
I HATE GRIND, It's really takes a lot of time of grinding (looting chests and doing second quests) to get powerfull armour and weapon...
Sometimes there's bugs about parkour and environment in overall.
I didn't really understood the ending of the game.
After killing and looting your enemies you will just got bored and you will just focus on other things such a get to the mission or something else.
What I'll recomend is:
FOCUS
ON
MAIN
STORY
(Grinding is SO boring)
I completed the game in 22 hours including DLC: Dead Kings
The game overall is great if you will focus and complete the main story, not including grinding and doing 100%
Legit 2014 is the peek of graphics , this games graphic , parkour is definitely one of the best ( i think the old ones have better story line tho )
Plenty of bugs, but still stand as the best looking the AC game that has the best parkour

Comment: Playing the story is nice but after finishing it I didn't want to grind for the better gears since they're quite expensive and takes plenty of time. Multiplayer is fine but sometimes takes some time when you actually need a teammate for a mission
Assassin’s Creed Unity brings a unique experience to the series, especially through its fluid and exhilarating parkour mechanics. The free-running in this game feels smoother and more refined than other AC titles, letting you traverse Paris with incredible agility. It truly feels like a parkour playground, making exploration a joy and giving a fresh edge to the Assassin’s Creed experience.
The story itself is enjoyable, with a historical setting in the French Revolution that feels immersive and well-crafted. While it doesn’t dive too deeply into the usual lore surrounding the Pieces of Eden, the game still presents an intriguing narrative that pairs well with its setting.
Though some might find the boss fights a bit underwhelming, the game’s strengths lie in its atmosphere, character progression, and freedom of movement. Assassin’s Creed Unity offers a unique and captivating adventure through Paris, with smooth gameplay that sets it apart in the series.
PS: Purchase this game on steam sales. That would be a better decision!
The game is good, I got it with Blackflag on the Xbox One, and have been playing it since. The third party program for Ubisoft makes this unbearable. Signing in to use a single player game is excessive and stupid.
I could see why people would hate on this game, for the lag, but the interesting mobility system and story is really nice. oh wait, I know why people hate it, its cuz its french. 1/10
Okay, Ubisoft; I bought this game as I have enjoyed the Assassin's Creed franchise, however this rendition is almost unplayable on the Steam Deck due to the incompatibility with Ubisoft Connect. I realize that this title is a decade old and corporate mentality needs to focus on the next biggest release, but you seem to completely ignore supporting your titles once released.
Ubisoft Connect is completely unnecessary for games you are marketing through Steam as their security protocols eliminate the ability for unauthorized access to games purchased on the platform. Making customers log in to a 3rd party app to access game play is tedious at best, and completely broken at worst. Ubisoft Connect will not allow input with the Steam Deck native keyboard, and either requires a peripheral keyboard to be hooked up to the Deck for the privilege of accessing the game I paid for, or I HAVE to play on my PC. As my Steam Deck is my preferred console, it really makes your games with this requirement a HUGE PITA!
After reading HUNDREDS of complaints by your customers to this effect and the dismissive responses, that go something like this; "We're sorry you're having difficulties with .... But we're not fixing it." - is clear-cut arrogance, dismissive, insulting and an obvious belief that you're "too big to fail or care". While this attitude is probably justified currently, as your titles are generally at the leading edge of the gaming world, it's not a practice that is sustainable in the long term. I already hate spending money on any titles produced by Ubisoft because of this arrogant lack of any tangible customer service, hidden in verbose "spin" responses to complaints of broken or glitchy software, so I am thinking long and hard before expanding my library with any more Ubisoft titles due to this, and I would highly recommend anyone else considering purchasing Ubisoft titles do the same. Honestly, WHY should I pay for something that is delivered BROKEN!? if you're okay with this; I have a 50 year-old busted couch I can sell you for your break room, which I will use your "caveat emptor" attitude if you complain... "I'm sorry your couch arrived with holes in the cushions and a cracked frame, but I'm not fixing it."
Despite the playability (or lack thereof as I cannot even log in at this point) of the game, your lack of willingness to fix what's broken is a definite deal-breaker! Had I known that this was going to be an issue, I would NEVER have added another of your titles to my gaming library and will definitely avoid Ubisoft from here on out as there are MANY games on the market that are just as playable as your titles, with companies that take a much more serious approach to fixing broken software aspects, and keeping their customers coming back.
It has it's glitches, overall a good game. It's mid transition of that typical Ubisoft collectathon though so if that ain't your jam just avoid it. I would also just wait for it to on sale, quite literally I had visual glitches for the entire prologue and first act. There are mods to fix a few of them though.

This game has received a lot of hate for its so called "bugs and glitches"
But throughout the entire game , I encountered no bugs at all.
In addition to that,
The environment design is insanely good.
The game looks so beautiful even after a decade , definitely one of the most graphically impressive games I have ever played.
And the parkour mechanics and the assassination animations are definitely the best out of all the assassin's creed games.
The only lacking part in this game is the plot .
The plot is not really bad but it's also not that great
8/10 , wish ubisoft made more games like these now
amazing game probally my favourite game (played all rpg's and this so don't take opinion seriously
decent mechanics and loved the plot
The sound is kinda off for me but that might just be a me problem
The graphics are remarkable considering it was released in 2014
The bugs are somewhat non existent and the whole uplay thing is false, just install it before launching the game
I dont give a damn about the story cause this was my second ac game
amazing game addicting would play my whole life. mobility in this game is great and the weapons and pvp is like no other definently recomend
8/10.
Not buggy anymore. Funner than syndicate and prettier than black flag. It's a shame that the bugs, multiplayer, and game store spoil what could've been a fondly remembered assassin's creed.
Ubisoft broke the parkour system. Unity is literally worse than the original AC when it comes to parkour. Basic stuff like running through a doorway or climbing through a window is an absolute chore. When you want to run, the game tries to climb and when you want to climb, the game does nothing. Ubisoft has also made combat worse than any other AC title and they force it upon you since stealth killing is so much harder to do. No whistle or other location lure to stealth kill is possible.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
What a bad game, everything is really bad from the moves to the story. Sometimes it felt like I was playing a pirate game filled with a lot of bugs.
its very clearly not optimized for PC, played on Ps4, great game and looks amazing just.. not on PC
this game is fun if you are into stealth combat games with a hint of humor. i would buy it again if i could
I get it the games 10 years old.. And if you're like me, you initially overlooked it due to all the issues that plagued this game on release. But with everything that's happened to the series, give this game another try, I think you'll be surprised with what you find.
Briefly to sum up:
- Build Arno the way you see fit, with the weapons and stats to fit your play style. From ranged, one-handed to heavy weapons.. There is something for all. The outfit selection is great too, although I wish some of the outfits weren't so "Outgoing", but most have there place and look very nice for the period.
- A genuine decent story with plenty of side missions(Co-op, Heists, etc.) and world opportunities along the way to keep you busy and having fun.
- An amazing parkour system.. Look, I know everybody LOVES to hate on Unity's parkour, but that's because it requires just a little bit of thought, not "I hOLD RT aND PuSH StICk FOWaRD".. With just a little practice, parkour in this game becomes very free flowing, and feels very engaging compared to other titles in the series. Occasionally Arno will randomly jump left out of nowhere, when you planned for him to go forward.. But the majority of the time, once you get it down, you'll be in a rhythm flowing through Paris.
- It's a truly beautiful open world game.. Paris in the late 1700's just looks stunning how it was done for this game, and I know that the team for Unity put a lot of time and effort into getting things accurate, between visiting sites to scanning buildings.. And you can truly feel it, with exploration being a high point of the game for sure (I can easily spend hours just running around exploring).
- The graphics are still beautiful.. I guess now we know why this game had so many problems trying to release in 2014, but my god is it stunning even still.. On maxed graphics, this really looks like something that came out today's day and age, not 10 years ago..
All and all, this went from being a game I picked up randomly on sale a few years ago because of the Co-op (Even after being a fan of the series for many years), to arguably my favourite game in the whole series.
story is pretty mid, coop is solid, stealth is recommend since combat is very stiff, parkour is very easy but the animations are the smoothest in the series. better than the newest ac games 7/10
yeah this review is gonna apply to ubisht and all AC games. every single game always has some sort of issue on pc. black flag cant move the mouse in the menu, unity starts up in japanese and u cant have multiple saves, there is fps and stuttering on ac 1 - 3 including the ezio trilogy in 2024 lmao? the new games are just origins reskinned and dumbed down for that modern casual audience that doesnt even make up 5% of the player base. i legit hope ubisht goes under horrible company horrible games. what they once had back in the early days is completely dead now. series died with desmond.

The game is very exciting, especially in the stealth part and even better this game can be played multiplayer, but for some reason I don't really like the story ending 8/10
Good mechanics ,good story , decent gameplay experience
not the best AC game but a good one
this game is so good and better than any other Assassins creed games the graphics, parkour, fighting, campaigns it is really fun and they campaigns are long I have 18.3 hours on it and I have any finished around 22 percent of the entire game totally recommend it
Assassin's Creed Unity - The Parkour Masterpiece
Having played through all the Assassin's Creed games, I can confidently say that Unity holds a special place in my heart, ranking just behind the iconic Ezio Trilogy, which is still nostalgically rated as the peak of the franchise for me. Following that, I’d put Unity, then Black Flag, which also has its charm, especially with its naval combat. But let's dive into why Unity deserves a second look.
Parkour Mechanics at Their Best Unity revolutionizes parkour mechanics in the Assassin's Creed series. The fluidity of movement feels incredibly refined compared to earlier titles. Climbing and navigating the stunningly recreated Paris is not just a joy; it’s an experience that stands out even today. The ability to seamlessly navigate rooftops and the intricate interiors of buildings is a highlight. It really immerses you in the world, making you feel like a true assassin as you parkour your way through the city.
Bugs and Improvements When Unity was released, it faced a wave of criticism due to numerous bugs and technical issues. However, after years of patches and updates, it now plays smoothly. The once problematic experiences have been addressed, and the game has transformed into a well-functioning title that newcomers can enjoy without the frustration that plagued its launch.
Visuals That Stand the Test of Time Visually, Unity is stunning. It holds up remarkably well against many games released today, showcasing impressive character models, detailed environments, and an atmospheric rendition of Paris. It’s a testament to the graphics engine that Ubisoft utilized, which makes exploring the game a visual treat.
Advice for Newcomers For newcomers to the series, I would suggest steering clear of Valhalla if you're looking for parkour mechanics, as it's more focused on RPG elements than the classic Assassin's Creed gameplay. If you're interested in lore, the Ezio Trilogy is where you should start, offering rich storytelling and character development. Meanwhile, Origins and Odyssey have their merits but don't quite match the parkour experience of Unity.
Final Thoughts In conclusion, Assassin's Creed Unity deserves more love than it initially received. With its superb parkour mechanics, beautifully crafted environment, and improved performance, it's a must-play for fans of the series. If you're looking for a game that combines thrilling movement and the charm of historical settings, give Unity a shot. It’s an experience that can rival many of the more recent titles while reminding us of the franchise's roots.
I really enjoyed this game at the time, even with all the bugs. Revisiting it now, I would love to see a Remastered/Remake version of the game. It was a very good game, but just hampered by technology of the time. Doing a remastered version of the game could finally give this game the recognition that it deserves. With Ubisoft coming back to Steam, I would love to see that happen!
its good, but thing is, it's kind of repetitive. but its cool
edit: i just completed the game, this game is amazing, it's just a bit depressing after the story ends though.
I am continously amazed how a 10 year old game is so much more detailed than todays games. The crowds are massive, the Parkour systems are 10x better than recent AC games. The combat is actually fun, and not plagued with spongy boss enemies. Even the RPG elements are done better than the rest. Truely the last GOOD AC game.
A decade old game but yet the last game which actually resides the true geunre of the series
i never finished the game cuz i had other things to do but this game is good, something you play once and forget about, its fun whilst it lasts though, one of if not the best entry in the ASC series very fun, just buy it when it is on sale
Bought it in 2023, played it in 2024. Good game, still bugged even after the fixes. Very hard to find online players and the games i played online were very laggy. Lots of missions and collectibles
