Bought it in 2023, played it in 2024. Good game, still bugged even after the fixes. Very hard to find online players and the games i played online were very laggy. Lots of missions and collectibles

the trailer is false marketing. the main story is no about the french revolution

This game is quite literally one big checklist. Usually AC games are, but not like this one where every possible thing you can do or collect is in one big menu. Maybe that's appealing to some people but spoils any sort of surprise in the game.

From what I saw, quests have insanely low-quality voice acting throughout (English dub?), story sequences feel rushed and pointless, everything is explained like the quest-giver is talking to a child.

Parkour was the best I've seen so far.

I remember the game looking good (not great) in 2015, but now it just looks okay. The game is poorly optimized for PC. Played on Steam Deck as well, on all low settings dipping into low 40s fps frequently.

Also, there is absolutely no reason for the Ubisoft Launcher to require me to re-enter my password EVERY TIME I open this game, even if I'm switching between devices. I know you can see my IP. When is Ubisoft going to stop shooting themselves in the foot and remove their launcher and stop feuding with Steam like a child. You lost the launcher game. Get over it.

I hate the way the function of the keys keep changing at random, but I do understand that it's just the way that STEAM does business these days - like gangsters and their violins. However, you've got to grant Unity the scenery, and isn't this sort of reason that God invented The French. And then their is the ' class consciousness ' of The Ancient Regime, with running through The Slurm with The Scurm, dodging wheelbarrows full of corpses and the hurricane of revolutionary pamphlets howling down every dirty, cardboard alley, then suddenly finding yourself in some fashionable Salon, stuffed to the chandeliers with f***kin Soiree. Yeah, soar right !

Short story line but compensated with a fair few side quest chains. Mostly bug free, but I had a few issues with controls not working properly at some points but was essentially a non-issue. The Dead Kings DLC however was buggy AF and I couldn't even finish it.

sometimes jank but when it works... tis bloody brilliant, smooth satisfying combat with surprising depth, unique fast paced stealth which actually incentivises using gadgets (ai detection can be a little shoddy), top notch animations, dense & detailed open world.

Probably the poorest experience in the creed franchise. Other titles have better stories, better characters, more engaging gameplay.

I was really waffling on whether to recommend or not for this title. There are some good components for sure, particularly the world design which is probably tops for the AC series. That said there are a bunch of issues with this title as well.

Pros:
- Beautiful world design and still impressive graphics even 10 years later.
- Character designs are well done.
- Majority of VA is well performed.
- There is more interior space in this game than any other open world title I've ever played.

Cons:
- Very poorly optimized. I was experiencing consistent frame drops with an RTX 4080 which should absolutely not be happening with a 10 year old game.
- This game is very "Ubisoft" lots of collectibles which don't provide meaningful rewards beyond having gotten the collectible.
- Combat is ... old school AC combat. Which is not very good in the year of our lord 2024.
- Elise's voice actress was using a distractingly bad English accent and it really detracted from her character.

I still am planning to play the whole series (mostly have been on PlayStation), but this one was kind of a low point so far.

After 10 years there's still bug in this game. For instance, the game will become darker to the point that I can't see (the brightness is in default mode). Anyway, it's a good game in the franchise.

They deleted my data because I was at work and didn't had the time to login during their "warning" period. I had a 100% save which I collected everything including outfits including the Altair outfit that requires you to play the annoying helix missions. All that gone because Ubish!t can't stop being POSs' for 5 minutes.

It's an okay game. I wanted to play the co-op with my brother and not the story line, but you have to go a lot on the storyline to get to co-op. The reason I bought this game was to play co-op.

i absolutely love this game chat. The story mode made me wanna cry when i finished it. 100% recommend to others. There's still so much to do it'll keep me busy. Peep game lock in and purchase this game NOW. Has to be one of my favorite assassin creed games.

Still holds up in 2024. Intuitive controls, fantastic parkour, an engaging storyline, and breathtaking surroundings. Fight mechanics are a little clunky in the beginning, so you have to rely heavily on stealth, but if you persevere and advance, they become easier to manage. Love the fun little snippets of French folk songs. My only criticism is that there are still many collectibles and side missions left after you've finished the main story, and these are very repetitive, so there is no real incentive to reach 100%.

I kinda recommend this game. It is most likely my bias but even though the gameplay and visuals were good. The story just didn't catch me along and there's not many people playing the multiplayer meaning in most co-op missions your gonna have to do it yourself. It's a good game to pick up if it's on sale for like 5 bucks. But other than that, you really don't need to have this experience. Still had a decent time and some of the glitches were hilarious so It's a 5.7 out of 10 not bad, but not good just averagly good.

This game has a ton of good content and the depth in which Paris was recreated was amazing. Still a little buggy.

If you wanna learn the definition of AAA JANK then you need to play this. Nothing in this game works. Not even the ''play'' button. You are forced to manually log in to the cancer known as UPLAY every single time. The disjointed story, low production value and barely functional parkour is just SOME of its faults. You can also buy pretty much everything in the game for real money. Lovely. Every single ''screenshot'' on the steam page is fake too by the way, just a heads up.

After watching many viral TikToks about AC Unity and the same day, after about 10 years since the game published, i have the chance to know about and purchase in sale to play this super masterpiece. I can die in peace now! Definitely recommand for my grand kids! Best f@#king game ever! I delete all my other games! ROARRRR!!!

Story and missions are repetitive. Stealth system is best in the series. Combat and platforming was fun

Don't let it's pretty look fool you, this game is pretty bad. Just go play Black Flag or the Ezio Trilogy.

Combat is insanely frustrating as there are snipers that one shot you and this AC entry decided to remove the human shield action you could do in the previous games. This forces you to dodge roll to avoid bullets but very frequently someone else is also trying to slash you on top of the sniper trying to shoot you. This creates a scenario where damage is unavoidable as if you choose to dodge the bullet, the slash will connect after your roll, if you choose to parry the slash, the sniper one shots you. It is basically inevitable for you to receive damage/die.

Stealth is also frustrating as the very same snipers that one shot you seem to be descendants of the Hyuga clan and have god tier byakugan level of eyesight. They are also frequently positioned in a way where you cant assassinate them without getting spotted by another sniper.

Parkour is also bad. You will be surprised when Arno refuses to do jumps that look completely possible or jump somewhere you did not intend to. The videos you see online of cool parkour are pretty much a small snippet of someone pulling it off flawlessly but likely had hundreds of hours of frustration/practice behind it.

Keep in mind I have installed both ACUFixes mod and the Physics improvement mod, and I still cant recommend this.

This game is seriously good. Its the last true Assassins Creed game we have gotten. The parkour is out of this world and very unique and fun. Everytime you run up a building or run from roof top to roof it will always have a different outcome. This game is also so beautiful for how old it is now, and the crowds are insane for how many people this game can fit. You can even install mods to fix bugs or any issues the game has on PC. Only issue i would say is story is pretty bland and confusing. But that doesn’t remove the fact that this game is incredible.

The only Assassin's creed I've played that I dreaded playing, story is uninteresting, main character is even more boring, the ending was expected and really boring. The experience of playing this game could be described as eating McDonald's, getting a burger with just the top bun, two fries of varying crispness and a half full sprite with no ice. 5/10 Simply for the glitches

Vive la France!
World and graphics in this game is amazing. Loved assassinating as well. Story is good but is a bit convoluting at times. NPCs are super immersive and nice. Game was def ahead of it's time.

Spoilers: Napoleon is in this game so automatic 10/10. Shame we didn't get to kill Robespierre though.

Barely recommend because it is fun to play, but is extremely repetitious. Feels like hundreds of times of doing the same things. That gets very tedious, especially since it does not earn you any AC points to upgrade your skills. You do earn points from completing challenges that does increase the level of your character, but no skill points to upgrade melee, weapons, stealth, or health. Which is very frustrating, because no matter how many bad guys you kill, citizens saved, steal, missions, chests opened, and more, still no skill points.

I re installed this game the other day and everytime i try load it the quality is so bad it keeps going pixilated ive tried restarting my laptop, turning up the resolution and nothings working

This game is bugged, and its a pretty annyoing one. The characters and building loading distance is beyond bugged, it literally loads right at ur face, the npcs even midly far wont even load at all, so does the structures.

its good, although it could get a little repetative at times, but you don't really notice because of the fun gamplay loop. it is only noticable in longer play sessions. the story is a little mid, but the open world, the gameplay and the deapth is amazing.

Assassin's Creed: Unity is a groundbraking masterpiece in the art of creating glitches. If you enjoy falling through the map, hovering NPCs and faces that look like horror movie props this game is a must play. The story and characters might be forgettable, but the bugs will haunt you forever.

AC Unity could have been the best AC game, but several annoying things made it only one of the best.

The really good
- Paris is beautiful. You've heard it's beautiful, but you're not ready for how beautiful it is.
- It also has such personality ! The setting in AC Unity has all the flavour that was missing from AC Rogue. When you look at the buildings and the people around you, you know where in the city you are. Like how in the original Assassin's Creed you always knew in which city you were.
- The verticality and complexity of the map. You can enter the buildings ! You can go up and down inside buildings ! The catacombs are a whole city beneath the city ! (Even more impressive in the DLC, to be honest.)
- Arno's moveset is impeccable. The free-running feels really good, especially for going down buildings and dodging obstacles. His assassination moves are awesome, like a sneaky hidden blade to the ribs while walking by, or putting a hand on the target's mouth while slitting their throat, or tripping someone to stab them when they're down... just awesome.
- All characters felt very real with their own motivations. You can support a character one moment then disapprove of their actions the next. When I first saw Arno I thought "please not Ezio again" but he was so much more endearing.
- I liked that Arno was basically just one assassin among many. It was very reminiscent of the first AC where you were just this one part of a bigger order, doing missions as you were told. It added to the immersion.
- The fact that Arno is made of wet tissue paper and gets one shotted by almost everything was great too, since it put much more emphasis on stealth and infiltration. You can build him to fight, but I feel the game gently pushes you towards a more subtle gameplay.

The annoying
- The game will launch in 800x600, and no you can't do anything about it until you get to the first gameplay sequence. If buildings are blurry, you need to change your anti-aliasing to one of the MSAA options.
- There are still several bugs, one of them being that taking damage while climbing a building will lock you into a falling animation and the only escape is to reload the previous checkpoint. Given how often you have to escape while people are shooting at you, this gets annoying pretty fast.
- Another one is that while taking cover, you have a 50 % chance of getting stuck with no action available. Button mashing will unstuck you, but if you were trying for cover assassinations or discretion, you can start the mission again.
- I don't know whether it's a bug or not, but when two factions are fighting in the street and you're just passing by, there's a chance you will get targeted too even if you did not attack anyone. Very annoying if you're tailing someone, or just wanted to go about your business.
- There are way too many unnecessary collectibles. You have a beautiful, enormous city, the exact atmosphere that makes you feel like an assassin, lots of missions and investigations and mysteries... and the map is CLUTTERED with chests and cockades and heraldic shields ?? Like what ? The only thing it does is taking you out of the story, out of the atmosphere, and back into a checklist game exactly like AC Rogue was. That's such a shame. (Also a lot of them aren't on the map unless you stumble upon them...)
- The secondary mission objectives are as annoying as ever, but AC Unity innovates by having some of these objectives tied to skills you need to buy. So for 100 % completion you might need to redo several missions for no other reason that you did not invest in what the game wanted you to.
- Spoilers : the story ends with the fridging of the one and only female character. It's not my first AC, I know these games are misogynistic, but that felt so gratuitous and pointless that I can't even say "killed", it's pure fridging. I don't even care it's a good story, the video game industry isn't so encumbered by female characters that you can just get rid of a cool, important one like that.

The conclusion
This review is way too long already, but basically, if you're more into immersive, stealthy AC games, this is the game for you. The annoying things are REALLY annoying, but playing the game is worth it. Definitely one of my favourites in the franchise.

I really, REALLY wish I could reccomend this game. I see the huge potential in it as an Assassin's Creed game. Sadly, all that potential went to waste: main story could have been way more interesting considering the vast amount of things that happened during the French Revolution (everything Napoleon did could have feed an entire game), and side characters could have been used more interestingly. The parkour and battle options are quite fun and it's awesome that we can choose from a vast variety of weapons, which is the bright side. Also the city; I've never been to Paris and I love to virtually take a walk around many of its historical buildings. But I feel like it could have been paired with a good story.

GOAT ac in terms of overall game play. I love France. This game is way too good for 2014. Elise is beautiful. Arno is a great mc. W game I hope shadows is just as good.

Unity is arguably the last truly great Assassin's Creed game to date. While its story can be a bit hit-or-miss, there are moments when you really connect with Arno, the protagonist. The gameplay is exceptional, particularly the parkour mechanics. Unlike the newer Assassin's Creed games like Valhalla, Odyssey, and even Origins, Unity doesn't let you run around recklessly and kill everyone in sight. Instead, it encourages stealth and strategic planning, embodying the essence of an assassin.

If you can convince a friend to join you in playing Unity, you can both enjoy customising your assassins' outfits and tackling co-op missions together, which is a blast. Honestly, my only gripe is that there isn’t more of it. I would have loved a sequel where Arno teams up with Connor to hunt down Shay Cormac, or even a DLC exploring the character of Master Assassin Thomas De Carneillon. Overall, I'd rate this game a solid 8/10!

A lot of people say this is the worst AC, and to those people I say "KYS". This game is really good, unfortunately the story is really short, only like 15 hours, but the graphics, gameplay and overall the story is really good, even if it's short. I'd say this AC, is one of the top 5 AC's.

The game is good, but the controls are actually horrible. Arno will NOT move the way you want him to move. The final story mission becomes infuriating to play because of the horrible controls.
