I can't pin this game as a negative, there's something entertaining about beating up virtual guys in games, AND I'm also a fan of the game Paint The Town Red, ever since I had a VR headset I've been hoping for a VR version of that game,
in vain this is not yet there at the moment, but you can say about KungFu Town VR that this could be exactly Paint The Rown Red in VR to almost precision.
Currently there are only a few levels that you can do and you get tired of it very quickly, but it remains a good choice with which you can introduce VR to a VR virgin.
It's a 500x pity that even 5 years after its release the game still hasn't received any new content, Paint The Town Red has a crowded workshop on steam, I can imagine some ways to port these mods to this game, this game would give a popularity boost, but unfortunately, despite this game being good it seems to have been completely abandoned, now it's just waiting for the folks at Paint The Town Red to make a vr version of their game.
The main problems I have with the game.
1. There is no options menu, therefor I cannot turn off the music.
2. Free movement doesn't exist in this. Atleast the teleportation is fine.
3. The fucking teleportation. No, it isn't good. Every teleport takes up your stamina bar, and as you can guess it's a pain in the ass. "Oh but if you move freely there isn't much of a challenge" It's a challenging game as is, I don't need fucking stamina to know that it's challenging.
4. The slow ass turning. In case you don't wanna be wrapped up in fucking wires (unless your VR headset is wireless) then just don't buy the fucking game. It takes 10 seconds to do a 180. I've seen old people fuck faster than the turning controls in this game.
5. Weaponry. The weapons in this game are pretty enjoyable, but my main problem is with the guns. The guns are.. Weak. I have killed people faster with my fists than with a gun in this game. The revolver is a peashooter, and the shotgun is.. Bad. There's also durability, yet they do the durability quite well. Of course it breaks after like 5 swings but it's overall quite a good system.
6. The fact that there is a button to change your height. Now of course I can understand if you're a really tall dude and you're trying to grab something off the ground, but this shit just is sickening. I have tried to teleport and got sick because of the resizing more times than I can count.
Things I do like about the game.
1. The combat. The combat in this game is fun, albeit a tad easy. Punching somebody in the face in VR is quite nice, especially with such an impact as the fists. I felt like Kaneda during the opening scene of AKIRA where he takes off a dudes head with a lead pipe.
2. The maps. The maps in this game are very few seeing as Bellcat didn't really touch the game after release, and probably for the best. The maps here are quite nice though, you got an office and a store. What more could you need?
3. The sound effects. The noises in this game make it feel less like you're hitting a dude in the face, and more like you're playing the skin bongos. Now don't get me wrong, that's absolutely a good thing. Although it feels less like I'm killing a man, and feels more like I turned into the titular rat Jerry and walloped the angry cat Tom into oblivion.
4. Weapons. All of the items (that you can grab) can be used as weapons. There have been points where I have killed a dude with a mousepad, and a dead body. Like a fucked up flail.
My final opinions.
The game feels less like an actual VR game, and more like a cashgrab because of Paint the Town Red's popularity. The game hasn't been updated ever since release, there are only 3 maps, and the combat is boring at times. The only threat is turning in game. The cons outway the pros here, and I wouldn't recommend buying the game at all. Sure it has it's moments but it just isn't really that fun. Buy Blade and Sorcery, or Blood Flow if you want fast and violent games about murder. Don't make the same mistake I did.
Its trying to be paint the town red so i was giving them a chance and knew it wasn't going to be an exact replica BUT there is no settings to change movement so you have to teleport around and turn very slowly. IT sucks and a fighting game cause when i sit in the middle of my box i created so i don't go out of bounds it puts me it the side from the beginning and you are always near the edge of to destroy either your controller or something in your room. Overall needs fixes and don't want to have $13 wasted when i could pay for the real game. Really don't by this game until you see a bunch of fixes update. Every time i played this game it sucked. in the trailer he moves irl but in game it moves incredible slowly. IF you want a fun bloody vr game i strongly recommend hard bullet because it has so much fun to it but needs some fixes too, but not as much as this game does. if this was made by one guy and he was making it for a college project i would believe it. But sadly I've seen more fun games from those types of creators.
THE DEVELOPERS OF PAINT THE TOWN RED HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A VR RENDITION OFF THE GAME AND IT RELEASES IN MARCH, THIS YEAR.

KunFu Town VR is a poor imitation of Paint The Town Red. It has limited content, basic gameplay, and is unpolished overall. I honestly thought it was an Early Access game and had to look over the store page to verify that indeed it wasn't in Early Access. It has not received any updates in a long while.
This game is running on the Unity Engine. It ran fine on my 1060 GTX, running at a relatively steady 90 frames per second. The visuals lead you to believe there will be fun, voxel physics like there is in Paint The Town Red, but there just isn't. You beat an opponent with a bat or sword, it makes no difference. The physics are nearly the same. You still usually have to give them a good couple of wacks before they keel over. Meanwhile, they just slowly turn red. Like you're painting.
Gory physics? Well, you can decapitate heads sometimes. However, that seems to happen haphazardly. There is no other kind of dismemberment. It just doesn't have the gory physics that you see in other VR titles. It's more like paint dripping red than anything else. It's a sad state of affairs really. Yes there are different weapons you can use and you can even shoot some or throw some ... they just don't make that much of a difference in the end. It's more fun to just punch actually.
So the gameplay loop isn't interesting, but it also has limited content. There are 2 full maps, which you can beat in like 10 minutes each. There's also an arena mode and a developer torture mode, which is more exciting than it sounds. You'll want to torture the developers after playing this game, it just isn't fun actually playing the torture developer mode in this game.
Have I mentioned the poor teleportation? Yeah, it's pretty bad here and I'm not even talking about the stamina system with the teleport. I mean the teleportation is badly implemented. You don't have full locomotion either. Oddly, you do have smooth turning, but it's way too slow so it's next to useless. Lastly, you can grab almost any item and use it as a weapon. There's several items you can grab. There's also several items you can't grab. I have no idea why that is.
I got bored of this game after about 30 minutes. Every minute after that I just started hating the game more. So I didn't finish the arena mode (I did complete the office and the supermarket). I'm happy to uninstall this game and never touch it again.
Rate 4/10. Just play Paint The Town Red in 3D in VR using HelixVision. It's a much better experience, even without motion controls.

The concept was nice, but it's Early Access quality and abandoned by the dev. Avoid.
Devs have took our money, abandoned KungFu Town and never responded to our whims for improvement. I can't recommend this game as I'm permenately removing this from my Steam library.
Currently this game doesn't have enough content to remain fun. I finished all of the levels (except for the arena because the third level with Jason wouldn't finish even though everyone was dead) within my playtime. The people are ridiculously hard to kill and can usually absorb multiple shots from a pistol and will take around 20 punches or more to kill. It isn't gorey enough to be called a fun gore game but it also isn't fast paced and cool enough to be called a fps. It has a small amount of blood, content, and flat out gameplay. If I were to recommend anything it would be to add way more gore, more levels, and make the people in the levels have like half the health but then double the amount of people. And they definitely need a walking locomotion because stamina with teleports make moving terrible.
Simple adrenaline rushing entertainment delivered at a budget. May only last you a little bit but this is a cool little game.
"Oh, this looks good"
Drops in a level
"Okay" rotates with controller by accident
"OH SHIT"
Almost falls over and pukes
gg would almost throw up again 10/10
just like that game Paint the town red, but the only thing that bugs me is that there is no free movement, only teleportation, I hate teleportation, takes the fun out of VR
For the price tag, this game is not at all worth it. $10 for only 3 tiny levels and no proper locomotion other than teleport. Not to mention dying in game is certain to make you sick. It's fun, but not fun enough to be worth $10. This "Henry" guy needs to put in a bit more effort than he has before he charges so much.
No longer getting updated so changed my review to negative, avoid.
Fun game but needs a lot more content and bug fixes. Beating everyone to death in the super market is great but I can't pick up items off the shelves, only items on the ground or on tables.
Good points
Fun
Violent
Lots of items to fight with
Bad points
Grip buttons do nothing
No blocking???
Can't start the game while in VR as settings popup on monitor
lack of environments
The core game is fun so I am still going to recommend it, maybe not at current price though
While fun, and esssentially a Paint the Town Red but without the bicubic dismemberment, this game is quite lacking.
Mainly in terms of settings, as in game you've no settings options (graphics, movement, etc)..
The game recently added an "sp system" -basically stamina for your teleporting. It isn't a fun inclusion.
This game also lacks locomotion support - so if you don't enjoy point and move this game won't please you...for those playing with 2 sensors this game will be a tad unfun as turning is painfully slow - with my 3 sensors it was slightly better.
Content is also not very present, a few maps and essentially one game mode - this game will bore you quickly.
While i struggle to find it too much fun in its current state I would recommend it, as i'm sure it'll improve down the line.
Development is seemigly dead
Fun and funny, I’d totally recommend this. Replay value is minimal, unless you like trying all the different objects to clobber the people over the head with. I’m not easy to please. I have bought several VR titles and they didn’t even do the basic stuff, like being able to easily pick up items. This game works for the most part how you want it to. There’s not much there, but you can tell it has potential. Pick this title up if you want to smash Tiny Town people to death. LMAO
The game is basically a battle royale in various places, where you use anything you can to kill as many as possible. Fists, chairs, bats, axes, knives, guns, electronics, roast ham...yes, you can club people to death with ham. You can use the body of a fallen enemy to beat others into submission.
The body physics are pretty hilarious, you can throw them super far if you try. Picking people up with one hand and punching them in the face repeatedly with the other is always good for a laugh, just like in real life! Lots of blood, but the animation style is not realistic, so I wouldn't consider it a gorey game, but truly violent. Similar to Hotline Miami in terms of violence, but for VR.
Still needs more weapon variety, more environments, more polish, but in its current state I feel it is worth the asking price and hope the devs keep developing for it aggressively. I value VR differently than normal games, and the unique experience for myself and others is certainly entertaining.
Bottom line is that its all good wholesome fun, and I highly recommend for the entire family. Especially yonger siblings and the elderly.
Have low expectations for this game
Start office level
There's a group of employees doing exercise in the middle
1/2 the employees are playing PUBG
There's a guy squatting over a toilet in the bathroom
I explore all rooms, only 1 left looks like managers office and has a bouncer guarding it
I go inside, music instantly changes to fight music and I'm staring at 3 guys with knives. They come at me
The whole office breaks into a gian fight.
I grab whatever I can, throw mice, chairs, pens, boxes, find a gun in the storage room.
The shotgun has the weakest bang ever, a kitten's meow is louder. But it packs a punch
This game has Jack Sparrow, Michael from Friday the 13th, Harry Potter, what else can I say?
Bad spelling.
10/10 would fight by Jack Sparrow's side again.
Just be forewarned, when you die your character falls to the ground, I almost fell over myself.
