pavlov is good in steam but sometimes it lags but its still more better then meta's version
Overwhelmingly positive to mixed reviews in one update is insane. Way to kill the game. Workshop was amazing while it lasted
The Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT) game mode in Pavlov VR is hands-down one of the most entertaining and immersive social gaming experiences I've ever had. It’s a brilliant mix of strategy, deception, and chaos that brings out the best in VR’s capabilities.
The gameplay revolves around trust—or the lack thereof—which creates a palpable tension every round. Are you the innocent trying to survive? A detective solving the mystery? Or a traitor secretly plotting chaos? The roles are perfectly balanced, and the VR environment amplifies the intensity, as you can see every suspicious glance or nervous twitch from other players in real time.
What really stands out is how this mode fosters communication and creativity. Whether you're persuading others of your innocence, forming alliances, or hilariously failing to maintain a poker face as a traitor, TTT in Pavlov is as much a social experiment as it is a game. Add in VR’s spatial audio, and the immersion reaches new heights—whispering, shouting, and laughing with other players feels incredibly real.
The maps designed for TTT are superbly crafted, providing plenty of opportunities for both stealthy plays and high-stakes confrontations. The hidden areas, vantage points, and interactive elements encourage inventive strategies and keep the gameplay dynamic.
TTT in Pavlov VR is a masterpiece of multiplayer gaming. It blends intense mind games with moments of pure hilarity, ensuring that no two rounds are ever the same. Whether you're a traitor pulling off a brilliant scheme or an innocent trying to survive the chaos, this mode keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you love VR and enjoy social deduction games, Pavlov VR’s TTT mode is an absolute must-play.
Before the update this game was amazing. Hundreds of players, so much community maps. After the update, they added cross play and that's what killed the experience. Now the game is a ghost town. This game had so much potential if it focused only on PC. But the devs got greedy for money and wanted to push it to console... sealing its fate in the coffin.
So basically, this game was amazing. Now? Don't even waste your money.
I swear the devs rework "features" only because some cracked players put the dick down on them. I can't put Picatinny rail accepted sights on a Picatinny rail? Why does the .50 cal sniper not accept a simple red dot sight? Stupid bullshit. They reworked the recoil/gunplay to a point where it's unplayable unless you have a physical stock to work with. I swear to god the simulated stock doesn't help at all. It looks like I have parkinson's disease. This game truly is worthless at this point.
It's okay. The guns and the overall feel of the game is decent, but lacking compared to other games like HHH. I don't particularly enjoy the multiplayer, but the real reason I am writing this review is because they stopped supporting previous versions of the game, which completely ruined the steam workshop and all of the custom maps.
Removing the legacy beta is the most retarded move they could have done to fuck over the entire community.
Codz was the only thing making me play this mediocre game but now we cant play any of the hundreds / thousands of workshop maps anymore because of the devs sheer incompetence.
All good maps were removed, its essentially a watered down version of what it once was. There's really no point wasting money on something so bland. You'd be better off erping with Mr Romber if you're that bored.
Ever since the update the unreal 5, this game has been total garbage. All of the interesting maps were deleted and now we have buggy maps that crash the game when launched. The game is essentially dead with no more than around 10 servers daily. Why even switch to unreal 5? the game is the exact same but without all the things that make it fun.
This was basically abandoned for the quest port which isn't free anymore. to get meta kids to buy their ripoff cod points for boring knife skins.
Not a lot of players, and many of the players i did find were very racist.
The core gameplay mechanics of Pavlov are solid enough that it's still worth trying, even after the developers pushed out an unnecessary engine upgrade and removed the steam workshop, which together practically killed off the custom mapping scene entirely. This game peaked years ago before those changes were made. Despite this, Pavlov is still a good game to pick up if you're looking for a solid VR multiplayer FPS experience.
Man I was really looking to get back into VR and playing this again, but it looks like the Devs nuked the game by destroying the workshop which was 90% of the reason to play this game. Don't spend your money on it,
The only reason I played was because of steam workshop. As it stands its basically a CSGO knock off in VR. Wouldn't recommend for free.
Completly dead on PC not worth it. Devs killed the game by making steam workshop incompatible so they could have ps5 cross play
Do *not* buy this game. It used to be good, but dear god have the devs turned it into an absolute dump. Performance is bad, guns feel like **** because of the excessive recoil, and hitreg is nonexistence. Spend $25 on something good, not on this pos where the devs actively try and stop an anti-cheat from getting put in the game.
Devs are experts in ruining a perfectly good game. Actual fucking mongoloids
game was killer app for VR from all the wonderful mods. So what did the devs do? Remove it. Don't buy this pos.
Feels like a tech demo more than anything. Gun controls feel terrible, with how big the detection zones for parts like magazine and bolt handle are. Couldn't even figure out how to use magazine release on pistols, because neither controller buttons nor actual mag release button on pistol itself worked. Few game modes that are in the game feel raw. You dont get to choose your class, weapons, anything. All the maps are incredibly small and mimic CSGO and COD series, but there are no counterparts for Battlefield-like experience with bigger maps and perhaps some conquest mode. Instead there is only death match modes and few other, that also lack any depth. This game is out there for a very long time already, and even got releases on other platforms, so I dont understand how it can be so raw. And maybe I dont understand something about game development, but how can gun play feel so much worse in a standalone VR game than in Half Life VR, which is a community mod for an old game that wasn't even intended to support VR?
Also the player base seems to be quite dead even with cross-play, so overall I wouldn't recommend buying.
best vr multiplayer shooter out yet ,cannot be beaten .the gun mechanics could be better and i wish they had more guns like H3VR but i cant complain with what ive got ,ive been playing for years now ,i think the tank and ww2 updates were the best .i reccomend this game to anyone who likes the idea of CSGO in vr
Development (and community) wise, this game is dead. It almost never receives updates anymore and when it does get one, it messes something up. For instance, the recent switch from Steam Workshop to mod.io for modding.
When it comes to gameplay I personally like how the guns work—they feel nice and fluid, that's all good. However, what isn't good is the fact that there will only be about 7 servers up on a good day with most of them being TTT on the same exact map as the others. Players like to consistently pick a map and play only that map and it gets old really fast.
Even at it's peak I wouldn't recommend this game purely because of the audience it constantly attracts. Almost anyone you'll come across is just constantly toxic and nasty for no reason. No matter what phase in development I played in, so much of the community made sure to make it as unenjoyable as possible by blurting out the first hateful thought that came to their mind.
The addition of PSVR crossplay kind of put the cherry on the top since the Playstation version doesn't support modding. That would be fine if PSVR users didn't outnumber PCVR players entirely, making it impossible to get modded lobbies anymore. The PSVR audience is also mainly children who got it as a Christmas present or something of the sorts, making the game a cesspool of children and the aforementioned bigots spouting unprovoked hateful comments.
No community like pavlov, actual game really needs some updating but the people are why its fun
thought it wouldnt be able to compete with other games like bonelab blade and sorcery and all of thoes but this is by far the best of them its funny its epic and something crazy always happens but i would recomend TTT caus its the best gamemode no debate
Once again, pandering to the console PU55135 has ruined a phenomenal staple of the PC world. Sure, you can enable crossplay and play in those servers. Enjoy the whopping 3 game modes available. Chat up the obnoxious 8 year olds. Have fun watching the vampiric PS5 drain the life out of everything it gets its grubby hands on, to compensate for not having any good titles of its own. It was good while it lasted...Time to bury this fetid corpse.
No audio when using Quest 2 on steam link and I check the drivers and the correct ones are set to default so i cant be asked to put anymore time into trying to fix it as i will probably end up destroying everything
yeesh another great VR game that destroyed itself. I really thought Pavlov was such a staple for VR that it'd never die and be like the Counter Strike for VR. For several years this game maintained a healthy population of atleast 1k daily users now it maybe get's 200 on a busy day, while still declining. Had some great moments though so I got my money's worth but I can't recommend it to anyone looking to buy it today.
I'd say this is an essential game for any VR headset owner. Great fun, amazing shooter game.
This game has stolen my life and ruined any other kind of game for me. I haven't tried the other vr shooters like contractors cause I dont need to. Pavlov is love, Pavlov is life. Buy it the shack version sucks
Abandoned yet still makes updates to Pavlov Shack (oculus's version of the game) and abandoned workshop as they clearly dont want mods
After 90 hours with my friends pre PSVR update and post, the game's gone. It's a travesty that seven years worth of content was purged so that it could appeal to some console dudes that can barely run the game. You can BARELY find any servers nowadays, let alone with custom map content. I'm very glad I got to play things like Escape from Pavlov and those zombie maps in actual big lobbies pre-purge. Anyways, if you still wanna buy, make sure you got some buddies, because its either play against AI or join empty servers so that at least you can have some fun in 1v1's or exploring some workshop maps like Gmod. Regardless, the community of the game is long gone, and I will miss it forever. GN sweet prince o7
Awesome game, great modding scene.
I love that the studio gives so much valueable time to making mods easier, UGCs are amazing in this game.
Games still ruined after we lost UE4 and steam workshop, every mod we ever loved, every good community server? Gone, worst part is we’re never getting any of it back because vankrupt is so obsessed with their free money farm called pavlov shack. The only reason this game even still has players is the fact its PSVR2s ONLY option for an FPS. Vankrupt wont read this, but if they do, give us legacy pavlov back or just take this game off of steam already if its that unprofitable that you update it annually compared to shacks monthly.
Do not bother buying this game, the developers decided to remove workshop modding which was 90% of the reason this game was so fun and all for some console kids and squeakers to join and ruin all the remaining fun that could be had.
There is no more workshop custom game modes, maps, guns, ect. and since the modding support vanished so did the games community. The servers are now dead and when you do find a lobby its just full of annoying squeakers.
If the game still had workshop modding support it would have been my #1 recommended game but unfortunately it does not. It has since dropped to my least recommended game for VR. If you want CSGO VR but with console players and squeakers then feel free to waste your money on this shit. Otherwise avoid like the plague.
10/10 ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO THE STUPID CUNT AT Bankrupt Games who decided to put console peasants over the existing thriving community this game once had. Fucking clowns.
This game was doing well until workshop was deleted, now the game only has 100 players online LOL was it worth it for you or the players?
Vankrupt Games more like Bankrupt Games...
I played this game off of a friends account a while back and recently got it for myself, only to figure out they broke the visuals for the game on the radeon rx 580 (non of my other vr games has this problem), I've requested a refund, but to my disappointment, it was denied.
If you are planning on getting this game, do yourself a favor and get contractors instead; it does everything this game does but better and at a lower price.
Pavlov VR is an absolute gem in the world of virtual reality gaming. From the moment you step into the game, you’re greeted with an impressive level of detail and realism that pulls you right into the action. The controls are intuitive, making it easy to pick up, whether you’re a seasoned VR veteran or a newcomer.
One of the standout features is the variety of game modes. Whether you prefer competitive play, cooperative missions, or just casual fun with friends, Pavlov has something for everyone. The community is vibrant, and I’ve had countless memorable moments in both public lobbies and private matches.
The graphics are sharp, and the sound design really enhances the experience. The feeling of firing a weapon or hearing footsteps nearby adds to the tension and excitement. Plus, the modding community is fantastic, offering a plethora of custom maps and game modes that keep the gameplay fresh and engaging.
However, like any game, there are a few minor issues. Occasionally, I’ve encountered some bugs, but they’re generally not game-breaking. The developers are actively updating the game, which gives me confidence that these issues will be addressed over time.
Overall, Pavlov VR is a must-try for any VR enthusiast. It’s a perfect blend of fun, strategy, and immersive gameplay that keeps me coming back for more. Highly recommend!
So you killed the modding community which was the worst decision you could have done to a game like this that had a giant modding community which made your game popular. I would change my review if they changed their mind highly doubt though this is what happens when you sell out and lose your player base. I can not recommend this game to anyone anymore I used to able to play all kinds of game modes and custom maps, now its just crappy CSGO VR.
dont listen to the bad reviews saying that the game is "dead", on steam, yea its dead on steam, but the game is really popular on psvr so you will still have enough lobbies to join in, and aslong as there is populated TTT servers the game is worth it, and i never really cared about the mods anyway.
As of october 2024 this game has been non functioning for all meta quest players and after two months with no announcement Im giving up. this game was amazing but I can no longer enjoy it.
It's deader than my nan. You can only play it on weekends at certain times of the day where most people are online.
There are barely any servers open.
Developers decided to kill the Steam Workshop in favor of console peasants from PS5 being able to crossplay with PC, so you no longer have custom maps and gamemodes like you used to before. Once again console peasantry destroys an otherwise decent game.
Avoid like the plague
Game was good but can't boot anymore Error Code:30005 (failed to start with 1275). Rip the game ggs
Edit 10/18/2024: Contacting support has resulted in no progress
ahhhh yes very good game very good game what can i say it has interesting game modes fun well known game modes it has its own zombie round based game mode to if you are interested in that lol
you can get it on meta quest 2/3
This was the best VR shooter, but it no longer works. Anticheat won't let me start the game anymore even if I just want to play offline.
I started playing Pavlov all the way back when the menu screen was grey, and TTT was a custom game mode. I continued to play Pavlov for a next 6-7 whole years until last month, where i had a falling out with the game because of the PSVR shit, and the fact that they nuked the whole workshop and mod support in general. Most of the servers are dead, rarely any custom game modes, and hardly any workshop or mod support for the game nowadays compared to how it was back then. Also why the fuck is it still in early access?
The community evolved to this amalgamation of children that sound like they stole daddy's credit card to buy this game, toxic 18-21 year olds, and racist teenagers that scream the n word after dying.
Now lets talk about TTT, the new "roles" are confusing, there are at least 3 detective classes that don't really have special ability's or make a difference from the base detective, the same goes with the Traitor Classes, the only one that I sorta like apart from the base Traitor class, is the hypnotist and how it can revive dead people into a Tratior.
Not to mention that 99% of the players nowadays that you will find in a TTT lobby are the toxic 18-21 year olds, and maybe a child that I talked about earlier, almost all of the TTT matches are always on Siberia, and if not Siberia then its something like Industry or Container Yard and when you try to suggest a different map they will scream at you for not picking the most overrated fucking maps in the game.
Another thing that about modern day TTT I dont like, is that if you do something as simple like shooting at a wall or prop on the map, you will be executed on the spot just out of paranoia from the people in your lobby who are scared of dying, its really fucking annoying and it makes it so that I can hardly actually play the damn game mode.
That's all I gotta say about this game, it really disappoints me how it ended up and I hope it can change (probably cant but yknow, still hoping), Any corrections in the comments of this review are welcome and maybe needed.
-Ghost512, aka Circuit Sapphire.
the crossplay with psvr2 is keeping this game alive! very cool how many maps now work for crossplay. Still an amazing community. I bet this game is able to see peak numbers again. we just need another pewdiepie video or something.
Bindings are broken
Have really been enjoying the game, the weapons give a realistic feel to the mechanics. Targeting and hitboxes seem decent and provides a good shooter in VR. The game has population and hosts are usually available, also keeping regular updates gives hope that it will remain a staple VR shooter.
The main thing that bothers me is how useless are the NPC's, really lack of challenge to play solo.
this game naturally thought me how to reload a bunch of different weapons, clear out rooms, and learn people become racist when i talk spanish (w player translaters i'll never forget you)
Removing the steam workshop has got to be one of the most idiotic things to be done to this game. I'd have otherwise definitely recommended the game, but until steam workshop returns I will not touch the game.
crazy fun I love the TTT mode especially theres so much funny shit that goes down lmao
