used to be the best but now theres micro transactions, skins and no more workshop. best part is the new kernel level anti cheat and crossplay with psvr cause pc lobbys are almost always empty. psvr barley keeps the game active.
Used to be the best VR multiplayer shooter... then the devs wanted more money and completely killed it. No players, micro transactions, third party mod website instead of steam workshop and they even somehow made the game run worse then ever before. Please spend your money on something else
is good runs smooth little amounts of AUS servers tho :(
In its earlier iterations it wasn't bad at all, but now its terrible. Not all at more optimized. Terrible frame-rate, and just overall MORE clunky and (if i'm being blunt) just plain shit now. Update added micro and dumped the core of the game. Way to go losers.
nobody is buying your micro transactions let me play on my old modded servers
Devs updated the game to break all the good modded content so they could add microtransactions... Fuck you devs.
i bought vr for this game now it doesn't even run. abysmal dogshit update.
Community is sadly completely dead nowadays. Removal of workshop destroyed this game.
RIP Pavlov.
I mistakenly didn't do my research before buying this game.
I wanted it so i could play those cod zombies mod maps but apparently all the mods for this game are broken because of an update they did in December of last year.
and no one is really fixing any of the zombie maps, so i refunded this. what a shame man.
loved playing the game but since they broke the workshop content it has all been downhill, connection issues, compatibility issues, crashes and waiting for months for an update to fix all of it.... there will be no salvation or great update to fix all the issues im dealing with, had great potential and great times but this is where i get off.
Ever since the mods were taken off the steam webpage this game has been deader then dead. Theirs no saving it at this point. This game is the epitome of developer incompetence and selling out. Not worth your time stay away from it.
Game was great until unreal 5 update that was suppose to upgrade it and make it better, but it only made it worse. Now is player base much lower, many people can not run game now.
And what do they do after many months to fix a game? They release in game micro transactions, without addressing problems. It looks like they are not interested in PC version and only focused on quest.
Completely gutted the game for an arbitrary move at cross-play. many community modes and maps GONE. Years and YEARS of work just squashed like a bug, and for what? so you can 5 players on the PS5 for cross-play? Please, save the excuses, I will not recommend this game to anyone and actively recommend against purchasing this.
Removed Steam Workshop and replaced it with paid skins and worse performance. Osama would be jealous of how this game crashed and burned
It used to be so good but then they changed how custom maps we're made for crossplay and ruined everything. Dont bother getting this game it had a downfall so hard. But not as hard as Sea Of Thieves.
I don’t get all the yap about “no more mod. Game bad” there’s plenty of mods and the game is still really fun
I am on the HTC vive and was so excited to play this again. nope. steam vr crashes constantly on the menu. it worked just fine back in the day. and now it doesnt at all after i just upgraded my entire pc way more than it was. i expect a refund this is bs
rampant cheating, toxicity, children, lack of players, crossplay dominance destroying the modding community, lack of new content and microtransactions. dont buy this shit!
It is nice, but as a lot said, some of the recent changes killed in the egg all the chance this game had to become a VR GMod. I wonder what made them think that changes that impact the main functionalities people like- ugh. Too tired to write it all up but. I just want to say that until changed, I agree with the others.
It's kind of amazing how long it took me to write this review, but the removal of Workshop support(killing any and all CoD Zombies maps), A reason I and no doubt countless others bought the game for, Pretty much killed the game, Perhaps the game is fun on Shack and PSVR, but I cannot simply recommend this anymore, Whereas before the Workshops destruction, I couldn't stop playing this, Nowadays honestly I genuinely forgot I even had it installed, and honestly just get sad with how often I play Halo and think about wanting to play Halo Zombies again.
good game shoot children a lot and then learn knife line-ups and grenade line-ups then kill more children faster
used to be such a fun game, but updates have been extremely slow, and recent updates broke most mods and the latest update sneak updated the game into 1.0 and added paid cosmetics to the game. not a good way to go
It was downhill since the previous update.. which was 2 years ago
I absolutely love this game and it's a real shame its not getting the attention it deserves. It's one of those games that I'll never get bored of and can always jump back in at any moment. Best part of the game was the WW2 Push servers and Dunder Mifflin TTT, but there isn't enough people playing now to host them. I only have three feature requests. Firstly, please add higher difficulty bots for single player since there isn't any actual people left to play with. Secondly, to be able to quickly pull out a handgun with your right hand without freeing your left hand from your primary gun, if that makes sense. And third, to be able to customize the time length of single player matches. Great game and would highly recommend. Keep up the good work guys.
1. Game was very good
2. Then workshop support was removed in favor of some third-party mod website, many mods (all which I used to play) weren't ported over
3. Then the game has become insanely unoptimized, I couldn't smoothly play it on a Ryzen 7 7800X3D + 64 GB DDR5 RAM + RTX 4080 Super
4. Then the game just stopped running at all. I tried troubleshooting but it just kept saying something like "Unreal Engine — SteamVR plugin was not found…" And found a lot of people online who had the same problem and they, too, never succeeded in fixing it
So currently it doesn't even run. And even if it did it's unplayable anyway. Well, it was good while it lasted. :(
#stopkillinggames
ruined with goofy weapon cosmetics and other crap, goofy maps
its trying to copy COD, and thats a BAD thing
this used to be a really promising game, but its getting worse
not a great community either tbh(lotta kids that dont belong, which is what is being catered to now
I absolutely love this game, since I have a pretty monster pc everything runs perfectly for me, and where do I start with TTT. Probably one of my favorite vr game, and I actually don't give a **** about the microtransactions, as long as they don't effect the game. 10/10 game would recommend STRONGLY to buy this game if you have a pretty good pc and a vr headset
You know, I used to genuinely enjoy Pavlov VR. I really did. Though... bad update after bad update... the progressive enshittification of this game... the sheer lack of players... it's all come to a head with this latest update. Microtransactions? For what used to be modded weapons? You've lost the plot, and you've lost me as a dedicated player.
Vankrupt, you probably don't even read these, but if you do... listen to the haters. Genuinely.
I love this game. Even before i bought it when i could only play on my friend's quest. But c'mon... When i first started plaing it i noticed a bunch of bugs that i thought were just the way things were. THen I buy it for myself, realize the bugs are worse than i thought. I can't use any two handed weapon due to it assuming my hand is further right than it actually is. But worst of all, the constant shading issues. The long horizontal black bars. Can't think of a more annoying thing to deal with.
Let me start by saying, Pavlov is a super fun time. Its basically Counter Strike in VR. Guns are probably the most fun and interactive on VR that I have tried. I have made a ton of amazing friends and while the community itself can be toxic (Xbox Lobby Bros who are shitty human beings and children screaming slurs constantly) the game itself is a great time.
The problem I have with this game is every time there is an update, they break compatibility with certain VR headsets and controllers. I've spent months waiting for patches just so I can play this game with my friends. With the most recent update, this has happened again and its frustrating to have to troubleshoot your hardware and software every time a new update comes out just to get the game to work. On top of which, Pavlov's discord keeps kicking me before I can reach out for technical support. As far as I know I am not banned for inappropriate behavior, but as it stands I can't play a game I have put more than 300+ hours into because Dave and the Dev team can't get their shit together after each update. Each update, which only comes out once a year at this point.
Fun game. Solid FPS. Perfectly executed gunplay. Decent guns and good attachments. People like to complain about Vankrupt but all I seem to see is people complaining that they have to pay for skins. Yall know skins don't do jack anyways right? Just don't get them lol
This title went through a lot in its lifetime — legacy version removal, engine swap, cross-play integration and busted modding support, up to addition of micro-transactions as of late. If anything, each update was a downgrade rather than an innovation, accompanied by rapidly declining playerbase as a result. Pavlov is not dead, as many presume, but it deteriorates each year, besides performing "better" than similar titles.
It was really fun in the past, thus it is not worth buying today. Base game content doesn't provide the same value the modding content did. All major changes are unasked for and irreversible, every patch drags the game down and the community can only watch it happen in despair. It became a VR clone of Counter-strike and this decision alone made it lose all of the potential for future development. The mascot for this game looks like AI-generated nightmare, I still do not realize why it exist in the first place.
Recoil is the highest among other VR shooters and it currently takes the most hits to kill an enemy as well. It doesn't mean that targets feel like bullet-sponges, but it rather allows for less cooperative, strategic and thought-out gameplay. You will find teammates and enemies rushing more, venturing solo often and generally communicating less because of this. It makes the game more self-centric than team-based in a sense.
Virtual hands holding a gun feel like absolute noodles. You will benefit from an improvised or a professional gun rig: it provides you with better handing, immersion and an aspect of realism (like weight distribution, etc.). This goes for the majority of VR shooters that use both controllers for weapon interactions. You can still perform well without, it takes times and practice, however, the handling is still messy due to the lack of a physical constraint a rig can provide.
Counter strike clone in VR. It used to be one of the most polished VR games out there. Don't be fooled by the Dec 2024 release date, this game is almost as old as VR itself. I haven't tried contractors, maybe I should try that.
Great game that takes advantage of mods and the communities work. Nothing compares to playing cod zombies or minecraft ttt and just goofing around
i love how handguns and one handed weapons handle in this game, however weapons you rely on 2 hands to use are too sensitive and especially with scopes are hard to aim. Good practise and I love blowing people's heads out with the deagle. My 3070 build can run this game effortlessly on a quest 3s, very much worth retail price.
Edit: when crouching, taking mags from your pouch is very difficult
I wish i could have gotten passed the tos page to play so do i recommend this game....if i could have played it sure maybe....but since i cant even scroll down and accept the tos to play it....no
Feels like garbage after H3VR.
Yes, I DO realize it's wrong to compare Pavlov with H3VR since one is a multiplayer game and the other is basically a gun sim, but sheeeeeit man, my eyes are bleeding after playing 40-50 minutes of Pavlov with Rift S. Every single turn, every single movement of your head makes everything shaky af, and messing with the visual settings doesn't help at all.
H3VR with over 400 mods runs smoothly, and the level of interactivity makes it more interesting. Guess I'll just stick to it.
I like the game.
I only wish there were more players
Love the new vehicles and choppers with conquest mode!
Ah, pavlov a classic. I had quite a few hours on my quest 2 standalone, and it was pretty fun! Pavlov shack was free, fun, and I had a few laughs while doming kids or befriending some chill guys. I longed to play something like this again with the PC version. Even looking at the reviews, I decided to ignore them since I didn't mind the removal of mods. Some mods are actually supported, but quite a few got the boot. I didn't mind that either. The quest 2 standalone didn't have (if any) mods, and I still had a lot of fun.
However, there is a very very big problem currently.
Little Timmy decided looked at a mod, cheat, or whatever the hell method they use to significantly tear down recoil. Quite literally, the machine gun is the worst weapon to ever exist. You start spraying and praying, and the gun's intended use is to shoot in close quarters. Me and a teammate were so far, it'd take a couple shots to hit us long distance, and this person would dome us (with a machine gun) every single time. Even spectating this dude, you can def tell there was absolutely NO recoil.
I'm not sure if it's a mechanic to be exploited or whatever, but this game needs a rework. If you're a casual player, you'd probably have more fun playing contractors. It's not that I'm terrible at shooters, but I manage to top myself on the leader-board every now and then in contractors. In pavlov, it happens every single time
Heed my warning and a different vr shooter. There are other games that update the game more frequently than this bullshit.
(I also did a terrible mistake in buying games in bulk. I had three games I had to refund because they're terrible. Praying steam might refund this shitty unchanged product.
Mods were like 90% of what made this game fun, so they decided to remove modding for crossplay. No good zombies mode now, no custom maps, and no custom weapons. All they had to do is leave it be. Not EVERY game lives forever. They saw small player numbers and thought "oh no our peer to peer game isn't selling! How will we pay for our $0 server cost now?!" and sold out to first meta, then playstation. What was a great place for variety fun, now turned into nothing more than skeletonized counter strike bc the devs cared more about this old game making more income than the dedicated playerbase. Next time, make a new game to f*** up instead of p***ing on the only good reputation you had.
Do not buy, and do not revisit.
They abandoned mods for cross play with PlayStation; the very thing that made up the games player base and community. I thought it was bad with the UE5 upgrade which broke mods, but now they totally removed them. Very sad and unacceptable! Not worth the money.

Not worth playing anymore, the latest update ruined everything fun about this game. The game itself was the most underwhelming part to enjoy, but the mods made it so much fun. I could have spent hours playing countless maps downloaded from the workshop, but now everything is gone, player base is gone, mods don't work, and you cant even host your own coop lobby anymore to play more than 1 map of zombies. Until they put it back, not worth more the $2.
Do not recommend, devs have 0 respect to a small remaining community, make changes that nobody asks for that ruin game and then ignore community outcry. Apart from Push which seems to be carried entirely by the community, everything else feels dead and it will only get worse.
game was good, had great potential and a fun game play loop, even with its price, although, now, you have to pay for in game skins, cross play is bad and modding is even worse, the game is not fun anymore and for some reason, a paid game is asking for micro transactions, such as 15 AUD for 3 skins, which mind you, are for specific guns and not universal, in an already 36 dollar VR game, micro transactions are unacceptable, there are far better and more fun multiplayer shooters, try Contractors, or literally any other shooter, because there is no way this game is going to get any better.
REMOVED mod support??? horrible move... horrible awful move... the base game was made so well but now theres microtransactions and no mods smh man
Killed by crossplay, was the first FPS VR game I played back in 2017 and so unfortunate to see them turn their back on an established community just to try and earn a few extra bucks.
Fuck weapon skins. Hell, why not add player skins? For the sake of completionism, Vankrupt might as well follow in the shit-smeared footsteps left behind by the recent CoD entries. I think we need Nicki Minaj, Boykisser, and Deadpool, since we're clearly set on adding pointless, unrealistic, terrible cosmetics.
What do you all think? Personally, I think we should also add horses to the game so that Vankrupt can sell horse armor to us.
They removed what made the game fun: Custom Mods.
Instead of improving the mod compatibility and simplicity to install the mods,
they thought it would be a better idea to focus on MICROTRANSACTIONs and MONETIZATION.
they put paid skins and removed mod support, trash game now
