Set in modern day rural America and taking place after the dramatic events of Resident Evil® 6, players experience the terror directly from the first person perspective. Resident Evil 7 embodies the series’ signature gameplay elements of exploration and tense atmosphere that first coined “survival horror” some twenty years ago; meanwhile, a complete refresh of gameplay systems simultaneously propels the survival horror experience to the next level.

A little bit old but compared to modern horror games is still very enjoyable, a good horror game.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is an atmospheric, well-designed, and enjoyable horror game from the start to end.
Overall an relly good horror game, the story goes this time we play as a man called Ethan Winters. This is happening in state of Louisiana, Unites States. You searching for your missing girlfriend and u are on your own to find her and finds her in a creppy old family house
Absolute epic game, i liked the story and the gameplay was pretty intense at a few moments but playing it on my steam deck really was fun.
A wonderful experience that captures what made the first Resident Evil so great while being a step in the right direction as a way to return to the series routes and what made it so special in the first place.
Positives:
- The start of the game through the entire house, i'd say is done perfectly where it's a mix of the usual Resident Evil puzzles and light combat that works perfectly with the house's design and layout making it feel fair yet easy to navigate to the point where it's the best part of the entire game. It's fantastic and captivating design with boss fights that are serve their purpose well.
- The weapons felt nice to use where they are serviceable and every weapon had its place to use
- The environment and setting is disgusting yet it works perfectly for a horror setting, they really nailed the theme perfectly
- 1st person POV works incredibly well, makes it feel immersive while also limiting your view making combat abit more engaging aswell as carefully needing to look around for items as they are really easily missable, which is good as it encourages you to explore each section of a room for nice loot.
- I love The Baker family as they work perfectly for the style and tone they are going for, and each of their fights are nicely done making it feel satisfying to take them down.
Negatives:
- The boat section that's when i feel the game starts to drag on as it puts you into a flashback scene where it just goes on and on to the point you'll get burnt out from that section and after it's done, still more of the same boat and it's a shame since it sorta ruins the entire experience. The mines were incredibly lacking aswell and sorta felt rushed which same goes for the final boss which wasn't satisfying at all to fight and just exists.
- The mold enemies feel uninspired, bland and repetitive as that's basically the entire games enemy roster, even worse with the boat section as they get spammed there constantly.
- Unskippable cutscenes which makes heavily hurts and kinda kills replayability something that Resident Evil is well known for
- The "choice ending" that feels pointless as both endings are basically the same so it feels strange on why they made this a decision to make.
This fresh start is what Resident Evil needed and for them to go back to the basics on what made the first title so loved while also paying their respect to it led to a really great game at the start, that slowly started to overstay its welcome by the end.
i failed to do it great game but i could not take it to scary for my little mind if u enjoy it good for u if u dont think you will then try it but u will like it i thought i was gonna hate it but i didnt. so try it but i understand if u dont like scary games
It's a great game. The environment is very well made, looks great and is expansive. This entire game is very well done and realistic. It has jump scares and exploring and zombies and puzzles. If you have played resident evil before then this should be familiar.
It's good. The game runs like butter on my setup and it's beautifully horrific. It will pucker parts that you forgot you had. Defeating evil never looked so good outside of a Dark Souls title. Well done!
Resident Evil 7 is a must-play for horror fans. It’s scary, atmospheric, and delivers a memorable experience from start to finish. Capcom nailed it, making this one of the best entries in the series. Highly recommend!
this is my second fav resident evil game after village being first. So lets start.
- The story- This time we play as Ethan Winters. This is happening in state of Louisiana, Unites States. You searching for your missing girlfriend and u are on your own to find her.(i wont spoil too much) While this game has great story, i prefere i little bit story of re village more so i will give 9/10.
-Gameplay- If u play village its so similar just with less type of weapons and ammo so for me its 8/10
-The graphics- 8/10
-DLC- This game have best dlc-s in re franchise for me, my fav are bedroom and daughters. For whole dlc section in this game are easily 10/10 so much fun playing those.
Overall this game is by far the scariest re game to date, i cannot explain how much i need to pause game on some places.
So get the game with season pass u will not regret it, overall this game as a whole is very good game so rating for that is 9/10. Buy the game and enjoy!
I think it is a fun game, with decent story, characters, horror, and mechanics. A few of the puzzles are poorly implemented. This has to do with the UI not picking up objects you can interact until you are right on top of them like a pixel hunt, but these are rare. The rest of the puzzles are pretty well done. This is one of the better remakes in the series. I haven't ever played the originals or anything on a console.
PLAY RESIDENT EVIL 7 and 8
you will literally cry one of the best games i have ever played resident evil games in first person are literally the best to ever exist 7 and 8 are one of the best games i have ever played
story 10/10
boss fights 10/10
graphics 10/10
worth it 10/10
Beaten within two days... this game was crazy good. Liked the story direction a lot and in general the whole game. Would totally recommend.
After 4 years of this game sitting in my library, i finally plucked the courage to continue playing the game (After uninstalling and reinstalling a few times). Finally completed the main story, honestly an amazing game and very creepy. The scariest game I've played, but definitely the best resident evil games i have played so far. Seems like a lot of extra content to play too (haven't got round to them yet). Definitely worth a play-through.
This game is peak Survival Horror, it breaks you down only to build you up stronger than ever, yes it has a ton of power fantasy elements but they all feel earned. The direction in this game is on point, from every object being 1:1 in scale creating this realism aspect to the places you find yourself to the amazing graphics. If you want a good time, if you want fun horror that can make you scream as well as laugh, this is it.
a horror survival with good puzzles and descent jumpscares.
One of the best in the RE Franchise. RE7 brought us back to the survival horror roots RE was built upon decades ago after the questionable action forward games that came after RE4. Definitely worth a play-through if you miss the OG Resident Evil style. 10/10
Love the game, but i wish Marguerite had more to her battle. It's very anticlimactic especially compared to how tense Jack's fights are. Her battle could have benefited a ton from leaning more into how creepy she is!
With Jack, you're intimidated by how much of a brute he is. Marguerite would feel like way more of a threat if she was sneakier and quicker, making her feel more like her creepy crawly friends. An environment like the basement/cellar is what I feel would suit her best. An eerie dimly lit place that makes it feel like bugs are crawling everywhere and something heavy, cold, and damp is clinging onto you.
Mixing the claustrophobic, gross feel of that area with Marguerite's spider-y appearance and surprise attacks would make an exciting boss battle!
Yes absolutely stunning, I played my first playthrough in 2020 on Xbox and bought it recently when it was on special on steam. It's so good on PC and REALLY enjoyed the extra content.
Of course if you are a Resi fan its going to be great! But yes I've been gifting this to my friends because it's that good.
This is probably the best RE game I've played (Still need to play 8). Has a much creepier vibe for me than the rest of the series, the first person perspective and over all darkness made everything felt more intense. It does have some typical survival horror game frustrations with combat here and there, but 10/10 game for me.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard : By Triple F
"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" marked a pivotal shift in Capcom’s legendary survival horror series, bringing the franchise back to its terrifying roots after several action-oriented entries. Released in 2017, "Resident Evil 7" was a reimagining of the core survival horror experience, with a heavy emphasis on atmosphere, exploration, and psychological horror. The game introduces players to a new protagonist, Ethan Winters, who arrives at a derelict Louisiana plantation searching for his missing wife, Mia. This installment is unique not only for its change in perspective, offering a first-person view for the first time in a main Resident Evil game, but also for its approach to horror, abandoning the action-heavy style of its predecessors in favor of tension-building and claustrophobic encounters.
From the outset, "Resident Evil 7" establishes a deeply unsettling tone, transporting players into the decaying, oppressive world of the Baker family’s plantation. The first-person perspective brings the terror up close, making every creak, shadow, and noise feel personal and immersive. The game’s environments are meticulously crafted, with dim lighting, dilapidated furniture, and organic, foreboding sounds creating an atmosphere thick with dread. The narrow hallways and tightly confined spaces contribute to a sense of isolation that heightens the suspense, allowing the player to become absorbed in the haunted-house horror. Unlike previous Resident Evil games that leaned into larger-than-life creatures and bombastic action sequences, "Resident Evil 7" thrives in the quiet, horrifying tension of lurking dread.
The storyline revolves around Ethan’s search for Mia, but it quickly spirals into a nightmarish descent as he encounters the twisted, unhinged Baker family. Each family member represents a distinct horror trope, creating a terrifying dynamic. Jack Baker, the patriarch, is relentless in his pursuit of Ethan, and his presence evokes classic “stalker” mechanics reminiscent of Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis, forcing players to be constantly on guard. Marguerite, with her insect swarm and creepy demeanor, introduces a grotesque sense of body horror, while the son, Lucas, brings a sadistic, Saw-like psychological terror into the mix with elaborate traps and twisted games. This diverse cast of villains keeps the gameplay and horror fresh, adding depth to the narrative while allowing the game to explore different horror subgenres.
The gameplay mechanics in "Resident Evil 7" strike a satisfying balance between survival and exploration. Limited resources require careful management, bringing back the classic Resident Evil emphasis on conserving ammo, health items, and inventory space. Puzzles are cleverly integrated into the environment, often challenging players to solve mysteries or locate hidden items to progress. These elements contribute to a slower, more methodical pace that allows the horror to take center stage. Combat is minimalist but impactful, with a focus on precision shooting and evasion rather than brute force. Weapons are sparse, and ammo is scarce, intensifying the tension of each encounter, as every bullet matters. This scarcity and vulnerability return Resident Evil to its horror foundations, where survival feels truly challenging.
"Resident Evil 7’s" graphics and sound design are key to its success in delivering an intense horror experience. The RE Engine, used for the first time in this installment, provides impressive, photo-realistic graphics, especially in rendering the grotesque textures and environments that define the Baker estate. Every room is rich with detail, from decayed wallpaper to grotesque mold-covered surfaces, creating a visually disturbing experience that complements the horror. The sound design is equally impressive, with eerie ambient noises, distant footsteps, and haunting background sounds that add a layer of suspense. Every creak of the floor or whispering wind intensifies the immersive horror, creating a soundscape that makes players feel genuinely vulnerable and alone.
In terms of pacing and progression, "Resident Evil 7" strikes a delicate balance, gradually increasing the stakes without ever overwhelming the player with action. The game’s structure keeps players on edge, alternating between moments of exploration, suspenseful puzzle-solving, and shocking encounters. This pacing ensures that each encounter feels purposeful and horrifying, building tension organically without relying on jump scares or over-the-top sequences. The story unfolds through found documents, video tapes, and environmental clues, inviting players to piece together the macabre backstory of the Bakers and the mystery surrounding Mia’s disappearance. The game’s narrative structure, in many ways, feels like a throwback to the original Resident Evil’s mansion exploration, keeping the story grounded in suspenseful discovery rather than outright exposition.
Despite its strengths, "Resident Evil 7" is not without a few limitations. The first-person perspective may alienate some long-time fans, as it alters the familiar mechanics and shifts the feel of the game. Some players also find the latter portions of the game, particularly the sections involving the Molded enemies, repetitive as the grotesque black creatures lack the same memorable quality as the human-like enemies encountered earlier. Additionally, the final act’s action-heavy sequences lose some of the tension that defines the earlier parts of the game, though they are essential to concluding Ethan’s ordeal. Nevertheless, these are minor drawbacks in an otherwise skillfully crafted horror experience that revitalized the series.
In short, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" succeeds as both a fresh start for the franchise and a love letter to survival horror. Its first-person perspective, coupled with immersive graphics, sound design, and an emphasis on atmospheric terror, sets it apart from prior entries while staying true to the series' roots. By abandoning the large-scale action in favor of intimate horror, "Resident Evil 7" captures the essence of survival horror, immersing players in a deeply disturbing experience that’s both terrifying and exhilarating. This entry not only revived interest in the series but also laid the groundwork for future titles, proving that Resident Evil can evolve while still delivering its signature fear.
Great Storyline, Graphics and Locations. Only drawback is the game length. But yes, the game was worth.
This was my first ever RE game and I absolutely didn't like it. First person view with narrow FOV. Strange initiation. I managed to play a few hours and dropped it.
Now I finally finished after all previous RE games and I kind of like it. AI is a bit dum. Story is especially dum, but it's cute somehow. A few variations on the endings is pretty cool. I would say it's a FE substory refresh (something like a beach episode) with megamycete instead of classic BOWs.
Is there a mod that makes an audible noise of Ethan's heavily bulging average-sized cock slapping between his thighs as he walks??
While an alright horror game.. It plays more like a find the hidden object adevneture. I feel more anger than fear, at this point I'll probably finish it because I cant return and at this point I think Iim close to beating the son - who i assume is the last family member.
I slept on this game for FAR TOO LONG. Played it and beat it when it came out, wasn't really a fan. Replayed it last week for the first time and now I have it at 100%. Fantastic gameplay, awesome setting, characters are unforgettable (except for maybe Lucas). Jack Baker is a fantastic stalker enemy, and offers interesting and fun boss fights, and Marguerite is incredibly gross and unsettling. The only thing I really dislike is the 21 DLC, as it is literally just blackjack + more BS.
What a way to reinvigorate a series. Resident Evil had been through tough times, but Capcom wisely went back to the drawing board with a game that managed to be both a bold new take on the series and a callback to the series' best moments. This golden age of RE that we're currently experiencing is largely thanks to the success of REVII, and for good reason. Like the best survival horror games, it's balanced nearly perfectly, while the challenge ebbs and flows along with the player's resources. There are a few pain points, but those are mostly nitpicks - aside from a single frustrating enemy type, there's nothing in REVII that really drags the experience down. When the rest of the game is so spectacular - the environments, the atmosphere, the pacing - it's easy to overlook what few blemishes are here.
Resident Evil VII is a masterclass in survival horror, and a game that every fan of the genre should experience.
Now in mid-2020s when this review is written Resident Evil franchise has some sort of renaissance. Well, the series were always very popular all around the world, of course, but by the release of Resident Evil 6 many people were saying that the horror element was kinda lost and that some things were becoming to look too goofy even for this iconic Japanese biopunk. I will leave it to you, my dear reader, to decide if those things were actually true or not. Anyway, the release of RE7 was very anticipated and many were curious about it. There were reasons for that, obviously. More realistic approach in portrayal of everything, first-person view, getting back to horror roots of the franchise - those things were talked a lot. And when the game came out it turned to be a true hit and an impressive comeback for the franchise. And so, for such important moment in the history of series Capcom even decided to play with names. Both names of the series, the name for domestic Japanese market and the name for international market, were used in the actual name of this title. So, the game is called "Biohazard 7: Resident Evil" in Japan and "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" in the world, which is kind of cool and interesting. Speaking of the game itself I can only confirm that it's indeed a very solid title. And yes, it's true that in its gameplay this game reminds of very first Resident Evil game from 1990s!.. With the release of this game Capcom basically divided all future games of the series into two categories - new main franchise entries and remakes. And first remake was released in just two years after the release of RE7 already. And so, RE7, RE8 are focused on Winters family and they move the global plot of what happens in the RE world further. RE9 will probably be a final entry in the story of Winters family. In RE7 we play as Ethan Winters who travels to somewhere in the swamps of Louisiana to find his kidnapped wife, Mia. This is basically all you need to know before playing this game. Any additional information can only spoil you your experience. Of course, you probably already know synopsis of RE8, but anyway I did advise you to just play both games without checking any info on the Internet until you complete them. It's absolutely worth it. The only thing that upsets me is removal of title voices. I don't care if it was goofy or not. To me it was and will always be very cool and iconic!
I hate this game, It's so boring and slow even the main character can run right, and his bitsh keep slapping him around trying to be scary, i spent 1 hour just fallowing what the game want me to do and it's no fun,
buy it if you wanna get bored
Good graphics and early game jumpscares. But after the weapons started rolling in the game became too predictable and easy. Also too short.
that only took me 4 years to actually play though. anyways.
Very good game. however someone at capcom needs to be taken out back and old yellered the next time they think shooting an old woman in her exposed crotch is a good idea for a critical hit.
The psychological and body horor what this game introduced me was something really new to me, There were times when I opened a door I told myself no no I won't gone go there. The game first third is really shocking after that slowly the story starting to unfold itself and the pacing of the game changes too, at the I became a mold monster killing super solder. I think this transformation from an ordinary dude from a monster killing bad was really well made. This was my first RE I've ever played I just keep wonder what are the others...
Resident Evil 7 feels like a nightmare at a family reunion, where the relatives are monsters 🥰
The graphics are gorgeous, making you think you’re safe until something jumps out of nowhere,,.
The rotten food was tasty indeed...
Who doesn’t love running from terrifying creatures in their own home???!!!
Try not to scream too LOUDLY or you might attract the wrong attentioṇ..
The game that revamped everyone's hope for resident evil and for good reason. This game is an extremely enjoyable from the characters and story to the enemies and gameplay. No one section felt dreadfully long or unfun to me during my playthrough and I very much enjoyed the puzzles. A true horror experience that you should give a chance if you enjoy the RE franchise!

I've played RE1, 2, 4 remastered, 6, 7, and 8 and this was hands down the best out of all of them i loved every minute of it i think all the dlcs are well worth the money and the time. Hope plenty more people get to experience this game.
In the Resident Evil universe, a world of body horror, sinister environments, depraved scares and terrifying monsters, two games stand out as the scariest: the Resident Evil Remake, and this one. So let's recommend this one.
Resident Evil VII: Biohazard's name says it all: The mystique and fear factor of the originals are back, and the focus of the plot, setting and horror is on a new Biohazard. The eponymous Biohazard, the Mold, aka. Eveline (long story, play the game to find out why it has two names) can best be surmised as Las Plagas on Steroids, being able to corrupt anyone into a sinister puppet for the person using it whilst bestowing upon them various zombie-like strengths and replacing their personality with a new one, and also being able to be used to create horrifying, deadly monsters. The Mold has taken up Residence (seewotididthere?) in a Louisiana household, and both protagonist Ethan Winters and the Player are in for the longest night of their lives.
From that summary, Resident Evil VII succeeds as a horror game: the eponymous Baker household is a nice throwback to the Spencer mansion whilst also boasting its own tricks and claustrophobic style, The Mold itself is the scariest of the various Biohazards focused on in the RE series, the main monsters (The Baker Family and their Molded creations) are freaky as all hell, and the game does everything in its power to crawl up on you and whisper "boo". Trust me, after the seinen action anime tedium of 5 & 6, this was much needed and playing 5 only increased my respect for VII's darker, twisted tone.
And the "game" part of "horror game" isn't slacking: Resident Evil VII is a compelling experience that always finds ways to vary up the gameplay, be it environmental hazards, creative puzzles, optional flashback levels or even the flow of combat. Location-based damage is the name of the game for the combat as the game recommends going for the limbs of the Molded along with their heads, so the combat feels strategic, something that gets better thanks to this being the game where they introduced dynamic difficulty, meaning no two encounters go the same and the player has to think up new strategies on the fly. Finally, the puzzles are some of the most creative in the series' history, with some truly fun solutions.
So, yeah. Resident Evil VII is the game that saved everything, and I think only mad, raving 5 & 6 Apologists who think the series should be tedious Gears of War action on steroids and don't get the point of the series* can hate it. It's a genuinely lovable game that is beautiful in all its dark, depraved glory. Sure, they fumbled the sequel with Village, but VII still stands the test of time as an intense, gripping survival horror game.
*Look, if you enjoy RE5 & 6, good on you. I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about the idiots who genuinely think that the time the franchise sold out to capitalise on Gears of War's success was the pinnacle of its existence. if you play 5 & 6, are fully aware of their faults, and still say "I'm a fan of 5 & 6", you have my undying sympathies.
On my Resident Evil Mount Rushmore. Right behind Resident evil 2 and 4. Hard to decide between a 4 star or 4.5 star rating, its really really close to 4.5. I blame the boat.
The game that revived Resident Evil and the game that got me into Resident Evil. This game made such big waves that i just had to watch it on Youtube when it came out (wasn't much of a horror guy myself). I fell in love with it and was confsed on what everyone was talking about how Chris "didnt look like Chris" lmao. I get it now.
I have since gone through all mainline games and spinoffs like revelations and had a great time with most of them and this games the reason why. I love Ethan Winters almost as much as Leon. This game does horror so well and Ethan has the right responses to lighten the mood when needs be, in a differing way than how Leon used to.
Its not perfect, the boat section and swarms of molded in the mines are very bleh. Molded are just not scary or fun to fight. The boat drags on too long and it has that classic horror narrative of "why didnt this dude tell people where he was going or bring the police?" Yea it would of been a kill show but then Chris would of got on it quicker. But Thats just another example of how it handled its American Thriller Horror so perfectly.
A great game thats able to stand on its own and bring in new players.
It has a very good story, the ending is also nice, it also has good boss fights. And I quite enjoy it, I haven't tried the Additional Packages yet, but I think they will be OK. And i Reccomend this game.
Crazy how this game saved the franchise. You can see it for yourself too. After the mess that was re6 capcom concluded that they needed to go in another direction, and now look at it!
Great game. Like other RE games, the lore is a bit complicated. Overall insanely good game and the only game I've played in a long time that actually scared the shit out of me
RE7: Biohazard is the king of horror when it come to action + horrific experience including interesting story, great gameplay mechanics and creepy atmosphere. RE7 is also the most iconic Resident Evil game of modern time other than Resident Evil 8, 2, 3 and 4. Really recommend for a new player that want to be introduced to Resident Evil game. 10/10
Okay, don't get me wrong, this story is NOT Resident evil, it only has SOME hints and that's just the zombies and chris redfield...BUUUUT
I love them trying a different direction, and it did make for some pretty scary concepts and scenes, however I found the banned footage DLC to be more scary than the actual game itself, HOWEVER, the gameplay was pretty damn good, and madhouse difficulty is actually pretty damn rewarding and fun despite how punishing the game is if you run out of ammo.
There's just not much I can say without spoiling and I still don't know how to mark spoilers so uhh..yeah.
Overall, 7/10
I can't remember how many times I've played this, the atmosphere, characters, ear tickling voices (I like using the Japanese dub)..and Eveline..ahh...
There's no upgrades, no merchant, nothing that can distract you from the story, which would normally take away from the experience but it does the opposite here, 10/10
A breath of fresh air for the series, bringing the horror back to its roots in the scariest way possible. The first-person perspective is a game-changer and makes everything feel more personal and horrifying. The Baker family are some of the creepiest antagonists in the series, and the atmosphere is thick with tension. A must-play for horror fans.
Resident Evil 7 is TRUE survival horror. The Baker family is terrifying, and the game’s tension keeps you on edge from start to finish.
The DLC adds a lot too, with a variety of gameplay twists and deeper backstory. If you’re into horror, this game and its DLC are a must-play.
My favorite in the series, wish I could experience it for the first time when it first came out. Welcome to the family, son.
Masterpiece.Still working on achievements.Never bored of playing this game and also the extra content.Madhouse is a nightmare.Worth of every single cent of it
Resident Evil defined the survival horror genre, and then proved it's still got the same cajones with Resident Evil 7. This game made me so happy the first time I played it back when it came out. Now, re-playing 7 and 8 for Halloween, I had such a great time with this masterpiece of horror. It's a must-play in my opinion. Truly diabolical levels of horror.
I loved a lot of the DLC too. Some are just goofy ass mini-games, but I'll probably remember Bedroom for a looong time, that one was fun.
Just want to express my gratitude to eveyone who has worked on these newer RE games. You all have done amazing work. Both the remakes, and the new games, I really do love them. In a bland landscape of cash-grabs that left me feeling like my aging seratonin receptors were toasted from years of MDMA abuse, the new RE games keep proving to be refreshingly fun for me. I was starting to forget how video games could be this fun. Thank you all, and I hope your creative streak stretches well into the future!
This game starts off strong and really feels like a return to RE roots. I really was immersed and into it until a little over the half way point when you get past the family. The game falls off hard spamming the same 3 enemies at you every 5 feet. The level design as in almost all RE, can games can feel very contrived but there is some really interesting levels also. The graphics still hold up pretty well and the audio is amazing in the game. I would recommend the game but just know after the family it drops from a 8 to a 6 overall for me. would buy on sale.
A masterpiece of horror. At first, the first-person perspective may seem like a somewhat forced choice, but as the game unfolds, everything falls into place. It has a good length, exceptional atmosphere, and an engaging plot.
