The Story of Spirit Animal Survival
At the beginning of existence,
our Creator made it such that Humans and Animals had a mutual understanding of one another allowing them to communicate together
which in turn forged a bond of peace and harmony.
It was not until Humans became overrun with greed and an insatiable need for power that the Humans began the gratuitous killing of animals beyond what they needed for food and survival. Angered by the Humans actions, the Creator separated the two populations, assigning them their own respective villages and different languages. As a punishment for their ignorance, the Humans and Animals were then completely segregated and the ability to communicate was lost.
Although the balance between the Humans and Animals was in peril, the Creator passed a piece of his primal essence to a few select kind and honest Humans which allowed them to still understand the animals and to yield the power of the 11 Spirit Animals by taking on their animal forms.
As the Creator was bestowing the gift of the Spirit Animal to the few select Humans, elsewhere dark and malevolent energy manifested. The Dark Lord saw this schism between Animal and Man as an opportunity to overrule the World with His darkness and evil. To accomplish his evil goals, the Dark Lord gathered the most corrupt of the Humans and promised them the power of their own to rule the World if they were to supply Him with both Animal and Human sacrifices to feed this insatiable hunger for fear and pain of all living creatures.
Now, the time has come for those few gifted Humans who bear the Spirit Animal to defeat the evil forces that prevail and bring light to the darkness once and for all. Your quest begins with your Tribe being attacked by the forces of evil, when many parts of the World are set afire, people are being captured and offered for sacrifice, causing much pain and suffering. As the sole survivor, unsure of why you were spared during the torment and massacre, your mission is to find your people, free them, and fortify your Tribe’s village. The only way to defeat the Dark Lord is to summon the collective power of the 11 Spirit Animals, using their gifts and abilities to kill the Soldiers of Darkness and their armies of destruction.

One of the good Indie games I have played in a long time, beautiful world, morphing into Dragons and a Dino is one of my favorite features in the game so far.

#Note to the DEVS
Try to give specific loot drops to specific animals and enemies NPC's. For example animals only drop meat and leather, and NPC's drops Gear and weapons, its currently a bit random ATM.

Being a survival game lover this game was recommended by a friend of mine, had a struggle in the beginning to know what to do, but watched a few YT tutorials (from Bopilawn) and i was set and on my way.
I played this game with the mind set that its not AAA, but the Graphics and crafting and the Idea behind the game is good there are still a few bugs i can guess because its still in early access.
I love the fact that its multiplayer as well, so me and my friend can play together
If you are not after a HARDCORE AAA game, and want to chill with friends and have fun I would suggest you try this game for sure

not a good start, literally does not even work lol its just a sun and i can apparently spin around, BUT THAT IT IS SO I WILL GET A REFUND BEFORE 2 HOURS IS UP BASICALLY, VERY DISAPPOINTED, NOT WASTING Any more time waiting for nothing because its been 10 minutes and it still is just a sun and nothing else but white, also lagged every few mins and the animations of the creatures were not good at all once i actually got in, creatures would give up chasing me straight away as well as a host of other undesirable things, it says i was in it for 70 mins but most of that was lagging and loading, i have no idea why it would run so bad, i have a 2060 super gpu ryzen 5 cpu 32gb ddr4 ram, it shouldnt run bad, i may come back to it when its finished but for now i cannot recommend it in this state, i like the concept because i love ark, also, it is taking way too long for my refund, they get my money instantly but this is almost 24 hours and my refund still isnt here and i want to buy a different game, LIKE NOW...
Attempted to play, but there's very little introduction, absolutely no tips or tricks or anything to even get you started, and none of the "animal morphing" which is exactly why I bought the game in the first place! I tried looking in discussions, looking up guides, but there's nothing. I'd love to actually play the game but there's such a massive learning curve that it just doesn't feel worth it, which sucks because I've wanted a game like this for ages.
I uninstalled after 71 minutes. 60 minutes, assuming Steam starts counting time once you click "Play", were spent stuck in a loading screen, having to end the process in task manager to get out of the game at least 12 times. In only 2 of those 12 starts did I actually get into the game. The first time I had a frozen screen and never was able to move, so another end process. The second time I had character movement, but about 50 feet from the huts, the screen froze, and something behind me that I never did see killed me. Yet another end process. That was enough for me since I play games to alleviate stress, not cause it.
In summary, I never got to play it, so it isn't possible for me to rate the game play. EA games are hit and miss, so I check back occasionally to see what has been done and often I'll give the game another try. Sometimes you get a winner, eventually.
Ok, so I don't write many reviews at all. Just being honest. I just don't make the time to do so. However, from time to time I do find a game that warrants one. SAS is one of those games.
Graphics - amazing!! If you have a machine that can run this game on high end, and a card that can support all the bells and whistles of the engine the game looks so amazing. The animals and landscape is simple amazing. The detail in some of the tools and weapons is worth every penny.
Game Mechanics - Some of the ideas behind how things work in the game is perfect in the flow of the game. The way you can shape shift or mount your ride works in smooth action and is not cumbersome at all. The game offers a great many actions and the controls work in perfect harmony with the actions. There are so many things in the game that the player can do its easy to work them all without a second thought because of how fluid the game play actually is.
Lore - the story behind the game is very interesting and has room to grow and evolve as you progress through the game. The game has that feeling of never ending, like there might not be an end game... or not anywhere close to where you are here in the game but much further through many many dungeons, caves, tunnels, temples, entire underground worlds or burned out castles, and the list just keeps going and going. Almost sounds like a book I heard about one time where this small person went some place and came back to where he started. :) This game could be just as good of a tale as that!!
All in all if you want a game that breaks some molds, adds some things not seen before, not done before, or just simply looking for something new, this is the game to get. I have spent just over 37 hours in the game as of this review and I have just scratched the surface of the things possible. Not trying to plug my channel but trying to bring awareness and attention to a well deserved game.

This is NOT EA, this is early alpha at best ... Glitchy is one of the words I would use, this game might become something great sooner or later, but for now it's unplayable. Sorry devs, I do like your idea, but you guys need to fix so many things it's not even funny. I'll stick around to see if it improves, but for now I can't recommend it.
Problems encountered:
- weapons/tools break super fast ( 10-15 hits with a weapon and poof )
- only T-rex spirit would actually attack ( had T-rex, Dragon and Phoenix )
- constant glitching underground ( especially in T-rex form, same with mobs )
- mobs/bosses can't damage you in a dungeon ( went to couple, with Harpy and "player" !? )
There are bugs, that's true, but if there are bugs the devs will most certainly talk to you about the issues and do what they can do adjust it. So if you have any isuses with their coding feel free to discuss it with them and for that I give them a positive review, 100% most certainly more positive than I would give a triple A game.
Very disapointing optimisation even for an EA game. My Fps are never more than 30, very hard to play like this and the graphics are subpar for a game of this generation, particularly with other EA games out there utilising better engines and with small Dev teams already surpassing this game in most ways. Yeah sure the map/s are of decent size but honestly the world is fairly bland and a bit boring to be honest. The controls are so non user - friendly, probably the worst thing about this broken game. I have never once seen anyone else online and there is no oceanic servers so the lag sux big time for me.
I dont understand why they even market games globally when there is no server for Australia or oceana? As usual Australia doesnt exist to devs.
I try to join a server and it always asks for a password? WTF
I paid way too much for this unfinished game and feel like I have not enjoyed anything about it. I have forced myself to play it and went off the recommendation of a friend, in the hopes things will get better, but as usual nothing has changed much for my experience. Typical of Ea games these days (getting your hopes up and not delivering)
I will go and play a real survival game now like;

This game is close to unplayable in it's current state and I have no idea how it has positive reviews unless they're all from insiders or exceedingly hopeful people. If this is a serious attempt at a game and not a early access scam like so many games here are, then it's got a very very long way to go before it becomes even an enjoyable low quality exploring game.
Terrain mapping is terrible, with many islands of mountains that provide rough exploration at best and a hell of a time getting around at worst. The models hover over the ground half the time and many are poorly rendered and either over or undersized. Resources and creatures both appear in strange and nonsensical places. The crafting system is unintuitive and the clothing crafting in particular is hard on the eyes because everying is labeled "bar_03" and such.
Yet another niche game in my library, this time I really regret not refunding. I tried after few weeks to play again, got 12 fps, changed all to minimum, now 30 fps. Tried to move, only W works so no strafing or going backwards. How the heck can I defend myself if only direction to go is forward? Maybe I'll just wait 5 years and try again.
Not recommended, too expensive, maybe 7-9 euros worth, not 20 euros in this lifetime. Move to next similar game, there are thousands of them
So I have been Playing SAS for about 1 month. I have 70 game hours and really like how unique this game is.
It offers both worlds PVP and PVE. It is very early Alpha , but offers so much to do. The Developers are some of the nicest and friendliest I have encountered. I have over a 100 games on Steam so I am very familiar with forums and feedback.
These folks listen and work on bugs almost in real time. I have literally reported a bug and it be duplicated and fixed on the next patch. I play solo alot, but if you are a PVP grouping kind of gamer, there is a big crowd on there servers. I liked it so much I went ahead and bought a second copy of the game for my family to play with me.
Very happy with the projected mapping of this game.

Can't say I recommend this game, the controls are odd, menu is a pain, and it is very buggy. I joined a server out of 3 that I saw, each with just 1 person in it, and as soon as I started, I found myself in a mountainous area with what seemed like floating houses because they weren't attached to the ground. Random creatures that would chase suddenly with no sounds to indicate attack other than a red screen from being hurt. I know this is early access, but it's just too difficult to play. I think the menu part and inventory was one my biggest annoyances with this game. I also have a good computer, but even on the lowest setting I was lagging hard. I love survival games, Ark is one of my favorites as well as subnautica -- I want to like this game, but maybe I'll wait until it improves to buy it again.
The game needs to be fleshed out more.
EDIT: The team responds to any kind of bugs or problems that a plaayer has. So make sure to tell them in steam or discord so they can help you.
Otherwise, SAS is fun and unique. The game is around its beginning stages but already has much to offer, so try it!
Not your typical developers who don't care about you and just want your money. They care about this game and their players, they respond quickly to bugs and problems and will bend over backwards to help you.
One of the developers actually jumped into my game to talk to me about some issues I was having. I was standing face to face with his character and he even offered to replace the mats I lost. He also told me about things they are planning that will be coming soon. Never seen anything like that before.
The game is fun and addicting, yes, it has some bugs and needs some polish and more content but what a great start. I'm really looking forward to the future of this game, I can't wait to see where it goes from here. SAS has a bright future. I hope some of you give it a chance and help out. Jump on PvP East Coast 2 server and lets all have some fun, just don't shoot me!
Decent game in it's current state. I hope the devs keep going strong. I feel like this game has massive potential if you're into survival sandbox types, then yes I would recommend this game.
It's a bit of a grind fest, the map is HUGE with plenty of exploring and discovering to be done.
I do feel it needs more content added. I would like to see more underwater life and perhaps even wuwsts added. But, after reading other reviews and playing the game myself. I've noticed the devs seem legitamitley care for our experience and they seem to be puttting in the effort.
Pros:
-Beautiful landscape with nice graphics
-Lots of different enemies
-Lots of building and crafting options
-Lots of customizeation
-Game has GREAT potential
Cons:
-Hard to read animal and monster ui have to get very close at times to read the tag
-Progression can feel tedious at t imes, grinding is required to reach higher levels
-Underwater wildlife is sparse
So far overall 7/10

** All i can say about this game is Its extremely good to be just 3 devs!! The ark is meh but still nice but conspect and everything else is top notch! I got a Rust legacy feeling with a little mix of ARK. Yes the game is still Early Access so it means they will and can change alot.
** Lets talk about the Community of this game. The community is so good, i have played alooot of early access games and this is my best experience i had with a Survival Early access game. They answere every little question you ask about the game and they make you feel home and accepted right away.
** DEVS. The devs are amazing they Do care about every single member of the community and they help you with everything that you ask for about the game, with a rly short reply time. They always fix bugs and update the content for a full game.
** Bugs. There are some bugs yes but its allowed since its in the catagory Early Access and they help you and fix the bugs fast! Just post it in discord and they are right there to fix it or guid you thru it. I had a issue with farming Wood and i asked 1 of the devs why. They fixed the issue in less than 5 min! its insane how good this 3 devs even is.
**They love the game and they love the community and thats why i whould recommend this game for all of you guys reading this. It's worth the money and your time. Trust me just give it a try, you will thank me!!!!

New Review (July 18th): I am changing my recommendation to thumbs down. I have tried to like this game and give it a chance and submit bug reports and suggestions. The devs did add the light bloom settings. The current form of the game is really just unplayable and not very fun. I play single player only.
The starter safe zone totem, which is a bandaid on the spawn/balance problem, dosen't actually work. I have been killed repeatedly standing right next to the thing. I know this is a survival game and I expect to die and everything, but the creature spawns, respawn time, distrubution of levels just isn't working. death should clear creature aggro.
The UI and crafting menus need a massive overhaul. noone wants to spend 10 minutes trying to figure out what the lowest level storage container is.
I was excited for a building system which offered both prebuilt and piece by piece building. This is a total let down. It is basically impossible to get structures to place where you want facing the correct direction. Having to raid yourself to demo structures is annoying, and you wearout your weapons causing even more grind. Why no radial menu? The building system is my biggest complaint. there is one way to rotate structures, but it isn't enough for fine placement. also no way of telling from from back, till its too late.
The epic mounts, which I dont have nor want till i earn it, would cause a really unfair advantage in PVP. But the devs seem to give them out as a way to say sorry for the trouble, see the forums for the evidence.
The devs priority for adding content to the game seems a bit misguided. They added a bunch of western structures. but they could have worked on adding 3rd person, which might make building better, but i doubt by much.
My current stance you should wait and see what happens. Maybe find a current video of someone doing some legitimate gameplay (no epic mount, etc). I will check back in few months, keep an eye on the new patch notes.
Original Review:It is early access and just the beginning of that period. It is a survival game with a mmo/rpg twist. So much potential in this game.
If you like early access and dealing with bugs and game changes and being part of a community building a game, get it. If you are expecting a bug free game then find something fully released.
There are many many things I would like to see change in this game. add more mmo/rpg elements. better creature AI. better taming system without so much wasted materials. please please improve the building system.
Edit (July 1 2018): The biggest con for me at this point is the building system. There is no reference when placing structures for the front/back. With no 3rd person view, you cannot tell before you place exactly where it is going and properly align with other structures. The current shoot you structures to destroy them takes so much time and durabilty of weapons.
I still this this game as lots of potential. So it is worth watching.
Edit (July 10 2018): It isn't exactly an immersive game at this point. I wish I could say the game was fun, but its not quite there yet. The UI is clunky. The crafting system needs a massive overhaul for organization. The building system is much worse than Ark's. There is breeding, but at this point it has no real purpose compared to Ark with breeding for stats or mutations. The game does have lots of potential and active devs, definitely work watching.
I stumbled upon this game while taking a look through early access titles. The first thing that caught my eye was that it is survival. The second thing that really peaked my curiosity was spiri animals. What, are you kidding me?! Who does that?! How could that work?! Well, let me tell you, I was immediately engrossed in the visually pleasing artistry and placement of all the points of interest giving it a realistic feel which we all try to find in these MMO's. You can roam this huge map for hours and you'll see something new every time. There is always something to do as in any survival game, it's hard not to get distracted! Weather you like solo play or group play, pvp or pve, exploring or building, this is the game for you! The Developers are always interactive and enjoy playing right along side even the newbies so you don't need to be a high lvl to be noticed! Now, with that said, I won't go into obvious details which every new game, especially early access, about what I don't like about Spirit Animal Survival because negatives are to be expected and my likes, or loves rather, outweigh the things that are still being worked on. It is, after all, a work in progress. Look, all I'm trying to say is, stop reading this already and come in, enjoy some great company with friendly people and have some fun! If you're waiting for the invite, well, this is it! Don't hesitate, I hear the sale price will be ending soon! Also wanted to add, if you're concerned with the minimum requirements, I know it says min i5, I'm running an i3 with the only real issues being in the loading and shutting down, the game play is practically flawless! Don't let that be what scared you away, let it be that big bad T-Rex that one shot you!
Game has a good foundation and the devs are working very hard to fix bugs. I ask people to remember this is very early access and there will be bugs. They are fixing them faster than I have ever seen a tripple A company work on bugs, as well as addressing suggestions and complaints along the way.
Game is fun, has a huge land to explore and lots to do, it will evolve a lot over the next while, if you have a problem with something the devs are very receptive to discuss it with you. I recommend this game if you can understand what early access means.
I Love this game so fare and i have not gotten to the good stuff yet. The game is not perffect yet by no mean and there are some problems but the dev are on top of it and try there best to fix problems as they come awaear of them. The game has never crshed on my end and runs pretty smoth and you can right of the start play with others with out it really placing any strain on you system if your the host. I can't wait to play this game more and get to explore and tame.
I want to love this game, I love the idea behind it. However, so many things made me unhappy in the first 10 min of playing! #1..why have character creation if you can't see yourself, please give a third person option! (some people get motion sickness from first person) #2 No in game tutorial, the tutorial button take you to youtube videos. Even after watching the videos the interface in game was unresponsive and sluggish. #3 I could not put the game in full screen mode and the bottome of my tool bar was cut off. The idea behind this game is amazing, please keep working on it and I will give it another try in the future. For a game made by 3 people I am impressed. Please make it more user friendly. I wish you luck!
I've played the game a bit and I have to say I'm impressed with the amount of ability built into the game. I'll start with the pros
PRO:
A lot of functionality with building, crafting, character customization. Hunger and thirst isn't something you have to micro manage and is pretty balanced. The AI of the creatures is a pro and a con. I like the fact that when you get into an enemy camp and attract their attention they defend the camp, and if you run far enough away they lose interest in you and return home. I didn't see a lot of pathing issues, clipping or geo tears that are common with unity. The mesh is well done.
My wife has found portals and little hidden nuggets all over the place as shes been playing through the night.
CON:
The swaying of the character is bad but the devs are working on a fix
The menu's are clunky and the option to quit is not obvious. (switching to window mode (alt / enter) and selecting x at the top right works fine and saves the game.
Dragging items into the hotbar is touchy and often items fall to the ground.
The landscape appears very barren and not lush with life.
Carnivores in the game seem to ignore obvious prey, and a Trike attacked me. It was like random creatures of all types running around the map or loitering around in one spot.
It would be nice to run a steamCMD anonymous server as I am not a fan of paying for hosting. (also might add this is being worked on by the developers as a TOP priority)
Summary:
Bottom line this is a 3 person team who made this game out of their own pocket, and its impossible to beta test every possible bug with 3 people.. No kickstarters or funding to back the game either. If the community doesn't support the game its going to be rough for the team to finish the game.. BUT If you're not a fan of supporting indie developers and rolling with the fixes as they polish the game I would wait until some of the issues get fleshed out before you buy.
