The main idea of YAPP is to make a game full of WOW moments.
In most puzzle games, if the game gives you a box, you simply push it somewhere and jump onto it.
In YAPP, a box can interact with your two abilities in different ways. In one of the levels you place the box onto your clone and jump onto the box to get higher,
later you place your clone onto the box, grab the box and jump, then teleport to your clone and jump again to make a double jump. In another level, you place your clone at the edge of a high ground, grab the box at a lower place and jump and teleport immediately and grab the box which "jumped" with you..
2. You like challenging puzzle games.
Within the scope of my knowledge, it is one of the most challenging puzzle platformers ever made.
(Not one of the most challenging puzzle games. At least it's easier than Stephen's Sausage Roll.)
3. You have played one or two platformers before.
The platformer part of this game is not hard for an average player, but still frustrating for newcomers.

4. You can endure my awful artwork and poor English.

Please give a hint to where the stars can be and have game mechanics explained better.
I really wanted to like this game, and was liking it until I got to level 3-7. Level 3-7 requires a 'double-jump' (in a game where the player can only perform a single jump), which is a never-explained mechanic that appears to require pixel-perfect timing to build extra momentum. No, this isn't the 'double-jump' mentioned in the game's description, because that one is done with a box: this just is done with just the player and their clone.
From what I've gathered, this is the intended solution by the dev, and is required many times throughout the game, in addition to a 'triple-jump' that the dev claims actually requires pixel-perfect input. I was going to just skip this level and proceed, but... you need to perform the double-jump to access levels past world 3 it seems, so I'm out of luck here.
When I play puzzle platformers, I want the issue to be the puzzle complexity, not mechanical execution. I'm disappointed here.

Well worth the price
Fun game. I 100% ran it the day I got it. It took a long time but I don't have a life. I have a compulsion to complete every game, and sometimes it's super annoying (like Doom 2016, blegh)
Pretty good puzzler. Has some annoyingly finicky levels and tricks, but they're kind of fun anyway
The way this game embraces its quirks unlike many others truly enhances the playing experience. Every solution seems unintended yet genius. I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a challenge especially if you go for all stars its fun going back through the levels with the knowledge you've gained being able to reach new heights with the same tools.
This game feels reminiscent of classic early 2000's and 2010's flash platformers. Some of these puzzles are hard to figure out, and more difficult to perform, but none are impossible. Overall a quick, fun game to get you to explore and master all of the seemingly simple mechanics.
Rather than a puzzle, it is more of an action game.
The puzzles here are figuring out the glitchy behaviors of the world. I guess if you like figuring out how the game designer wanted these obtuse designs to work, go nuts. Even on 2-1 (traditionally the first level in a new world teaches mechanics), you're given no hints to a somewhat tricky physics puzzle. I found this incredibly frustrating.
I'm gonna be real with y'all, the only reason I bought this game is because the developer released a game I'm really interested in, which is the 3rd installment in the series of Yet Another Puzzle series. Thusly, I bought the whole trilogy pack, and have started working from the first game just to get to the game I actually wanted to play. Cuz that's how I roll :sunglasses:
The Gameplay
YAPP, fittingly, is a puzzle platformer. Honestly, I haven't played many puzzle platformers so the first comparisons the come to mind are Braid, or possibly portal if it were 2D. The player's kit, for the most part, is very simple, with your classic walk, jump, and item grab. Where the game differentiates itself, is your ability to produce a shadow of yourself and subsequently teleport to it. The jump feels very floaty, your movement feels janky, the enemies move jankily..., honestly the whole game feels very janky, BUT that is where the game shines.
The Jank
The lack of polish on this game is part of what makes me love it so much, the developer's username on Steam is Artless, and boy do they live up to their name. The game uses minimal sprites, animation, and backgrounds, and definitely could be considered "rough on the eyes". It also feels almost as though you're breaking the game constantly, BUT the controls are extremely consistent and the game at times tells you how it can be "broken" to complete the level, which allows for levels that require truly outside of the box thinking
The Difficulty
The base game includes 6 themed worlds with 7 levels per world. There are also 10 bonus stars within those 42 levels which act as an extra challenge which requires more thinking to collect. There was also an update that added 1 extra bonus world, free of charge. Out of the 49 levels and 10 stars there was only 1 star which I believe requires a walkthrough to collect, funnily enough it's actually the first available star. Every thing else was a good level of difficulty, where even the toughest puzzles could solved after taking a step back, taking a break, and returning to the game another day. It also helps that within each world you can do the levels in any order, meaning if you get stuck on one, you can go ahead and take a crack at a different puzzle. Something I also enjoyed was the fact that getting to each world was a mini puzzle in of itself.
Overall
This game was very janky, from the sprites, to the physics, to the fact that THERE'S LITERALLY NO QUIT BUTTON, but the game uses its jank to its benefit, allowing for some truly creative levels and solutions. I also find it to be very inspiring as it's an example of a solo developer being able to make a truly fun experience without being "artistically inclined". I'd also like to add, that the music in this game, while all of it is creative commons, is an absolute bop. Every single track

I need to come up with a new rating system
For any puzzle game fans out there or aspiring game developers, I feel like this is a great game to play to get your puzzle itch scratched or to even get inspired about development again, and at $1.99 this is a pretty easy recommend. For those of you not interested in thinking too hard rn maybe pass on this one
Amazing puzzle game that offers challenge in both coming up with solutions and executing them. Seriously, it's really good. The graphics aren't exactly impressive but don't let them fool you, this game has a ton of love and effort put into the puzzles and mechanics.
Finally found a game where the hard part is figuring out the solution rather than execution of the solution. Not that the execution of the solution isn't hard.

This game is very fun, I recommend it to anyone who likes puzzle games. The puzzles are very creative and rewarding when you figure them out. The mechanics are fun to execute and it's a well made game and pretty tricky given the few mechanics it has.
There's also a YAPP speedrun which is very fun and playing the game quickly changes the way you play entirely. Very fun game for a very low price, you will get your moneys worth.

Fun game! very very tricky!!!
Here's what you do:
You play as a small two-legged person-thing who can jump, grab blocks, and create a shadow clones of yourself. Your shadow has the same weight as you and can hold down switches. You can also teleport back to your shadow at the press of a button. There are six main worlds in this game with seven puzzles each. A seventh world has been added since the game launched as an additional challenge, but is not the hardest world in the game. There are 10 optional stars to collect for achievements and bragging rights (they don't unlock anything in the game). You can also slow down the game on command to help with timing the execution of your actions.
My thoughts:
I found this game to be very hard. The puzzles themselves become very difficult in the last two worlds, so much that I had to look up a video just to finish the game. At the time of this review, there are NO guides or walkthroughs for this game (not on Steam or Gamefaqs). I only found one video of a Chinese guy straeming the game and using another video as a guide for the last few levels. A lot of the puzzles are simply hard to execute even when you know the solution. The game itself teaches you ways to exploit the game's physics and I found it less exciting that so many puzzle solutions were more based on what seemed like bugs rather than logical thinking.
Conclusion:
This game is very short in length and it only took me about four hours to finish this game (after spending a long time being stuck on a few puzzles near the end). I don't recommend this game because it is very short and likely too difficult for most players. I didn't realize it at first, but there is a free demo you can download to try it out. It is only a couple of dollars, so it is not a big deal if you want to take a chance on it anyway.

Hard as nails, unconventional puzzles. Highly reccomend if you're looking for tough hidden-gem puzzle games!

A great value for a fun, unique game, YAPP dispenses with the fancy presentation of its inspirations (Portal, Braid, The Talos Principle, Stephen's Sausage Roll) to provide a clean and freshly entertaining puzzler.
The store description is accurate: the game is very challenging, but thoughtfully designed. Like the developer's chatty commentary inside levels, the graphics are simple, but very endearing. There's a friendly, casual atmosphere, and it succeeds in being authentic.
A great soundtrack really ties everything together. It's fun and soothing, and makes figuring out puzzles addictive. It's just a selection of free music, but I didn't expect to enjoy it so much.
I wholeheartedly recommend Yet Another Puzzle Platformer. The developer kept tabs on the Steam forums, happily giving hints. If you don't play this one, you're missing out.
